“Well, Miss Mewrilah, I am simply the Duke’s personal servant; nothing more needs to be said for me,” A’ih replied in her quiet way as she continued her quick pace. She did not look at the other Miqo’te even once as they maneuvered past crowds and the plate on her hand stood entirely still the whole time. In a matter of seconds she reached The Duke's side again and gave an elegant and slow curtsy to Muijh, immediately bringing the platter back down to her waist level and straightening her stance when it had been finished. Her face, ears, and tail remained perfectly still while only her eyes moved to observe the crowds of guests in the distance. It was a peculiar thing how she managed to have so much self-control to act in this mechanical manner, but it had become commonplace for her and the Duke. ~*~ The Duke looked at Muijh as she approached, setting the single wineglass back on the tray. “Well, fair guest, are you enjoying yourself?” he asked with a polite smile, raising both of his hands in a questioning gesture. He had been watching the Miqo’te’s interactions with A’ih, and it gave him a few ideas…

The Miqo’te servant quickly traveled the length of the ballroom and vanished into a side room for only a few moments and reappeared from the door with the glass filled with the simple request of water. She began to tread the ballroom as fast as she had before, the tray still never wobbling in the slightest and the water inside the glass only slightly deviating from a perfectly horizontal angle due to inertia. She swiftly passed by Muijh on her path straight towards the Duke, moving fast enough to displace the air ahead and causing a very light gust follow just behind her. As soon as she reached his side, she stopped immediately and lowered the plate back down towards her waist level as she turned to look out at the crowds as well. ~*~ The Duke Rhett did not even glance at his servant as he gently grasped the wineglass in a regal manner and continued to look out at the ballroom. He was a very analytical person and it was very enjoyable for him to simply watch how the people interacted. It was very interesting to see how some of the lower class members present were trying to pass off as higher class, and even more entertaining to see how well it worked for them. It was also nice to see that people were successfully mingling as he had wanted. His gaze continued to fall upon the Miqo’te wandering about between the crowds with the snow colored thighboots; she seemed to be having some difficulty with mingling. He could easily help with that. “A’ih,” he briefly said with his general tranquility. ~*~ A'ih looked at him with the speed of shock, her eyes showing a little surprise even though the rest of her body remained nearly motionless. He did not usually speak to her, let alone pronounce her name, for most of the things between them could be handled with the various signals that had been established between them. She took this as her permission to respond. “Yes, Duke?” “Look to where I am looking.” Following his eyes, she took sight of the same Miqo’te with the silky blue dress and white thighboots. “Do bid her converse with her host for a short time.” “By your command,” she replied simply in her quiet voice. A’ih took off again at a swift pace as the Duke began to take a small sip from the glass. She approached Muijh and gently passed on the request formally as she entered an audible and appropriate range. “Miss, the Duke of the Isles asks for your presence. Please, do follow me.”

Hey there! Welcome to the RPC and FFXIV roleplay too! Your character concept is pretty well along its way, so it's usually best to work on making a post in the Making Connections forum and see if you can find some people for your character to meet! She seems like she would be easy to relate to so I don't think you'll have any trouble finding some people to meet up with once you get to Balmung. I mostly just hang out here on these forums, so if you're ever looking for some forum RP or anything similar, just send me a message and we'll see what we can set up!

Fay couldn’t resist her urge to giggle at Kallera’s fall simply because it just looked so silly. She figured Elezen must trip a lot being so tall; being short did have its advantages. The marmot took its chance as Fay was distracted and made its escape by running past her, straight out the cave exit and out of sight. She merely stood up from the ground and looked over her shoulder to where the marmot was last visible. “Huh, that was smart of him. I swear they get cleverer every day,” she quietly said and continued to look for a little bit before she looked back up at the Elezen. “Oh, er, this was supposed to be my disguise. The air will dry me off by the time we get back,” she said innocently. She retrieved the other two waterskins, threw them into her rucksack, and began to rummage through a box until she pulled out a crudely made straw bonnet. She tied it on her head as she walked towards the exit with a smile on her face. She probably looked really odd, but the guards wouldn’t suspect her as long as she tried to swap her voice around a bit. “The guards won’t normally let me in the city. Not like I care though, I don’t really like it in there,” she said with a bit of sass in her voice and a smile.

Wow, these are pretty neat! I've never seen these before, so I might ask one for myself sometime here soon. For now though, I'll just bump this up a little!

Sure, go ahead! The thread isn't locked or anything, so feel free to bring Muijh into it. The dancing is optional, but you know, it is a ball after all. On the terms of the poll... I likely shouldn't have put that in-game option on there. Currently taking almost half of the votes, I have to wonder what responses I would have gotten otherwise. So far, we have a firm maybe, ...a suggestion to improve it (nothing's perfect after all), ...a "can't get around to it", a not interested (I'm guessing from either a lack of grit or too much of an aristocracy scene), ...three (two) find it good, ...and time does not seem to be an issue. Hm, well, I'll take this in consideration for how I might make the next one.

Hey there and welcome to the game! It's good to hear you're enjoying the game, and I'm sure you'll find some way or another to get back at him. I don't know much about the housing as I've never had one, but I'm sure you can probably get that kind of look. Most of us are slow to open up, but usually you stay pretty open when you do. Anyhow, welcome to the RPC!

I would go and make a post in the Making Connections subforum if you are looking for contacts, it should be pretty easy to find some other Thaumaturges that way. It can help you out with finding a group or, you can also head to the FC and Linkshell hall to find some of those. Oh, and welcome to the RPC and the RP side of life!

I've already sent you a private message, but I figured I would bump this back to the top for you! -
"Firm maybe" recorded! Anyways, thanks for replying so quickly!

You find can the thread in mention here! I was wanting to see if this was actually anything someone was interested in, so I'll put this poll up and see if can get an opinion on it! I planned it to be as open as feasibly possible, and the location for it is simply a non-existent and long-unused ballroom somewhere within Ul'dah, (essentially, the only restricting factor). I want to handle it in four parts: the mingling period, the performances and dancing, the late supper, and the aftermath. Of course, it'll never get there on it's own, so I do need others for it. So...give me your opinion on the idea either by poll, comment, or private message; it all helps! If you want, you can give me any suggestions you have on how I should improve it to make it work better. And regardless, if it's not something that seems like it will work, I can just convert it to a story thread for Rhett with some changes.

Hey and welcome to the RPC! I spent some time on WrA as well and it really did start to get really political as well as becoming very cliqued over the last year. Gnomes just gained the stereotype of being silly on there over time, Lalafellin shouldn't be hard to go serious with. If you're ever up for some out-of-game RP, just send a message my way, I'll usually respond quickly! Anywho, have fun with your stay here!

Edit: Aw, how did this double post?

Hey there! Welcome to the RPC and the RP scene! We all started out nervous at some point or another, but it goes away after a while. To answer your statement on the RP style section, where I originally came from it was called "para", but I don't really know if there is a different termination here to be honest. Anywho, if you'd ever be interested in forum RP, that's mostly my focus these days. I do already have a character who understands some beastspeak and does travel around a lot, so he could end up in Limsa at some point. Aside from that, I have a character idea I'm considering possibly being in the Maelstrom, if not just a local. Just send me a message if you feel like it! And before I forget...Enjoy your stay!
-
So far, I think the idea is great and your backstory is pretty fluid (most people seem to like them shorter, I spend probably too much time on mine), but knowing what I know at least, I'm not sure if your Au Ra could have been in Limsa years ago, being as they only more recently came to Eorzea. I'm not a lore wizard though, so you'll need to wait around for one of our local loremasters to clarify. Other than that, all I can say is that I like the idea!

If you are ever interested in forum roleplay around Gridania, I do have an bandit/thief/pickpocket character, Myrrh, who pulls her theft off around there, sometimes conning people to make it work. (Edit: In fact, this is the character I originally mentioned on your first thread.) She has nothing against working with others as long as she gets a cut of the earnings. She's also still a bit younger in age and appearance than people might expect for a criminal like her, so she has that bonus too. Just tell me if you're interested and we can set something up! Regardless, I hope you have luck in your search! -
This seriously sounds like something I would enjoy, but I am sadly limited to Forum RP right now. Ironically, the only character I have that would be eligible is Duke Rhett and his Miqo'te servant; both Myrrh and Fe'lanah cannot read as well. Ah well, it would be sort of odd to do it in forum roleplay, but if you are interested you can message me about it. Anywho, I wish you luck in finding someone!

I'm not exactly well versed on the subject of EU timezones being as I'm separated from it by an ocean, but I'll say what I can. From what I know, there are quite a few European roleplayers in and around the game, but I don't know about any dedicated Free Companies or Linkshells for EU regions. Eventually you will have to come across some people who play the game at the same times you do, regardless of timezones. Edit: Well, there's your answer on that. Getting into the RP scene when it comes to FFXIV tends to take a little while for lore research and such, but you came to the right place for it. Ask some lore questions and get an idea of who you might want to roleplay, we are generally pretty gentle about story and characters. The Character Workshop is the best place to ask in most cases. The forum does offer three nice ways to get connected to the RP scene, being the Making Connections subforum, the daily hosted events, and Forum RP. If there's anything more you need to know, I can try to answer it, but Maril will probably be more accurate on the situation, (especially concerning EU timezones).

Well in defense of traveling, there are a few reasons one might begin to travel. First, they never may have had a master, they just taught themselves and they like it that way. Second, there's a chance you might have found your master unlikable or incompatible with you as a student. No use sticking around then, just use what you've got and go from there. Third, (falls under second, somewhat) maybe you just wanted to show off your talents and you felt expressively stunted in the workshop by your master, or that training just wasn't doing anything for you and desire to flex your imagination with the weaving. Fourth, money. It's not likely you'll be earning much money, if at all in a workshop with a master. Money tends to drive trade as it is essential to survival in an economy; if you can't get work and as result, sustenance, you either have to change or move on somewhere else. On the term of functionality versus fashion, there will be people at every level trying to be fashionable (entertainers, especially), but I do agree here being a person who opts for functionality rather than style in real life, the lower classes of society are more likely to spend on durable things and fashion is merely a bonus.
-
I think they are a great thing to have around as unless you are by some twist of fate entirely severed from all ties, someone has to recognize your character in some way or another. They don't have to be really close friends, just someone you might have worked with before or a person you talk to from time to time. Very good RP stories can come from them as more things are present to bond from rather than meeting someone off the street. Pre-establishment is also something that works better for emotionally shelled characters (shy, cynical, nervous-wrecks, anti-socials) as they give a launch point for said character. Also, not to mention it can set something up much faster than random walk-ups since it can take even up to weeks sometimes to create a considerable relationship.

I can transfer a character from an official server into one that is not, i.e Balmung? Balmung is an official server as far as I know. It's only coined the "Unofficial RP Server" because that's what the community sees it as and was not Square's original plan for it. It's just a label, it should transfer fine.

“What? What is it!?” Fay called back into the cave, alarmed at the sounds of conflict. To her luck, she had been right at the point of finishing the uncovering her secret and she was immediately able to run back into the cave’s entrance to see what had happened. Stepping into view, she had undergone very large change in appearance. Her slightly pale and tan skin looked like it was washed away into a sickly pale color with a slight pink tint to it. Right under her eyes on her cheekbones were two fading tattoo marks and a line of blackish freckles passing over her nose. To top it all off, her hair had gone from the sandy color all the way to a pure, glaring white as if it freshly cleaned cotton. She still visibly wet, and her clothes were sticking to her to show her frighteningly bony and mousy body structure. Fe’lanah looked around frantically and spied the marmot. Hehe, was she afraid of it? Oh wait, no, she was chasing it down. “Stop chasing him, you’re just scaring him,” she called out as she sat down on the cave floor. She waited for it to stop and gestured to it. She did not know really what the gender was at this distance, but it was a good guess since she had not seen a lot of females around. “Come here, little guy. I’m not going to hurt you…” She had by this point already forgotten about her major appearance change. It was simply just a lot of dirt and sand: it made for a nice way to hide her pasty appearance.

I can't give too much advice, but I would think Weavers would be generally respected/wanted anywhere where people treasure fashionable clothing or where repairs are needed. Generally, there's rich people in any city that you could easily link up with if you have a certain level of finesse. If you are relatively good at repairs, anywhere there's working people you can get some respect repairing their clothing well. With fashion in Eorzea, I figure that there will likely be people from any class who will indulge it either to look better than others, appear higher in social status than they are, or merely because they like the looks. Appearing higher in society seems to be a generally more common thing among people; the "being at the top makes life easier, why wouldn't you want to be there" kind of mentality exists. On the terms of glamour, I figure it's something that the higher-class indulge in, but I'm willing to believe middle-class who are insecure in their appearance might go for it as well.

I don't think I can help with giving you a romantic relationship as it would be a bit difficult with my characters, but if you're looking for more friends I could always set something up here on the forums; (one of my characters lives in quite a shell and it always needs some pressuring.) I know you said you're looking for more than just that, but I'll offer it anyways. Oh, and in the same manner, my characters have detail left out too; I don't really give their backstories and only the essential information to what needs to be known about the character, (Rhett does need a trim, though). Anywho, I wish you luck in your search for romance!

Hey there, welcome to the RPC! (Wow, I'm late this time.) If you're ever up for some forum RP, just send a message my way and we'll see what we can do!
