1. Heeeey~ Welcome back to Eorzea and the RPC! Make sure to enjoy your stay while you're here!
2. “That is well, but, Mr. Fallstone, I did not enact this social event to discuss business. Please, do go and enjoy yourself; this is a leisurely event after all,” the Duke Rhett replied. Darius Fallstone, the black suited Hyur man, was one of the Duke’s more common business partners, but he had the same bothersome habit a large majority of them had: he simply only cared about money. It was ridiculous how a person could be as selfish as to attempt sales when he presented such a wondrous event. He was also sure it was a false name, but the Duke could not judge; he did the same sometimes. “O-Oh, I am truly in apology, Duke of the Isles. I have just been terribly concerned of late of trying to have a purchase made and you are one of my prime patrons after all… I admit it had gotten to my head slightly,” he replied, partially blathering in response. Darius was a good man; a blatant bootlick, but at least he was respectful enough to take it back his error. He promptly found his way elsewhere to another crowd of people, to which the Duke hoped he would not continue trying to make business dealings. Duke Rhett would hate to have the mood of the party lost due selfish abuse of his hospitality. Almost unconsciously, he marked the place in his mind where the man had gone to. Never hurt to keep track. He made a brief motion of his hand to his personal servant beside him as he gazed out upon the ballroom. Everything was going as planned for now and he would let the attendees continue to converse for a while. The night had only started after all and they seemed to be enjoying themselves in the atmosphere he had created. Of course, he could have even outdone this party and its decorations with ease for money could buy a very expansive number of things… ~*~ The Miqo’te servant immediately understood the sign, although she had barely even been watching for it. It simply asked for chilled water in her master’s wineglass, filled two-thirds of the way. Had she missed the sign, something that had not happened in years, she would have had little chance in guessing it for the Duke consistently and rapidly modified his habits from the day she had met him. Making no physical or verbal response whatsoever, she departed from his side at a very brisk and orderly pace while holding the plate in the same perfectly horizontal angle. Her face would remain deadpan, but her eyes would briefly flicker about to the festivities. Hopefully none of the guests would think she was one of the waiters and ask something to halt her current task, she did not like to spare any time…
3. *Unintelligible Mooglespeak* :moogle: Oh, wait, sorry about that, kupo. Welcome aboard to the RPC, kupo! Enjoy your stay!
4. Hey there! Welcome to the RPC and FFXIV! I still have a lot of my early writing and it is really, really bad. I'd like think I've gotten better over six years though. FFXIV should keep you busy for quite a while and the Balmung community seems pretty enjoyable to me (wouldn't really know being as I've only been on Siren and Mateus). I love your character idea and if you're ever interested in trying out some Forum RP sometime (it's all I've been doing recently), I'm usually pretty open and I have three characters, one of which I think would be a good complement to yours. Anywho, enjoy your time here! ~ From an Education Major

Hello RPC!

Totally none whatsoever. Honest!
6. Made a few fixes and added a poll just to see how they work. I've never had much of a reason to use one, and I can't exactly take it down now. So, uh, it's there. Yeah.
7. This is pretty unique idea! I'll bump this for you and wish you luck!

Hello;

Heh, I came from a place where people wanted you to write large amounts even for small actions, I'm used to it by now. (If you look at some of my posts, you'll notice it's a habit that hasn't died yet. :dazed: ) But, er, anyways; welcome to the RPC! Keep in mind that Balmung is almost always walled off with a population limit unless it's just after a reset so you may have to buy a transfer to get on. But hey, I'm mostly just a forum roleplayer now, so if you're ever interested in finding some just send me a message. Edit: Aw, Liro, you beat me to it by a few seconds.
9. Hey there and welcome to the RPC, Aisha! I can't meet you in-game and I'm not as much of a lore wizard as some are here, but feel free to ask anything! I'd suggest heading off to the Lore Discussion/Character Workshop page to get help with your character designs and, if you want, you can make a post in the Making Connections page to find some people in-game to roleplay with. I won't ever be around Balmung, but if you're thinking about forum RP, just send a message and we can talk!
10. High society had never been a stranger to balls or group congregations; it had always been a pastime of the elite who had nothing to do, regardless of wherever they were. But not even the Ul’dahn elite would expect to see something like this… The Duke of the Isles, as he was known these days, had procured the use of a large ballroom that had long fell into disuse and had managed to entirely renovate the entire place without even a single person knowing about it. A large portion of the society had no idea it ever even existed before this date, but now it was there for them to see in true reality. Suddenly posted across the streets in various places that always managed to catch one’s eye, were flyers that advertised a ball going to take place tonight that read as such: A Grand Ball, Presented by the Duke of the Isles: Experience a night of wonder and comfort few have known before! Take pleasure in a variety of foods from across Eorzea and foreign lands! Partake in dancing to a vast myriad of songs of all kinds! Experience the taste of true entertainment! All are welcome to come as long as wearing formalwear of a kind; anyone wishing to attend but lack proper attire can be distributed a custom-fitted outfit on-site. Attendance is limited, so arrive quickly! Where: Shining Diamond Ballroom, off the side of the merchant district. When: Tonight, at eight in the afternoon. We shall also have a few mystery guests, picked entirely at random who shall be entreated to come. Only they themselves know, and are sworn to secrecy! ...And even should a person not be able to read, people were always nearby the flyers who conveniently blathered about the information enough that in possible reality, one did not even need to read the poster to know all about it. A free and open ball in Ul’dah was something the elite had not expected from the Duke and a significant portion of the city itself was in so much disbelief at it being socially equal they would not bother to arrive until it was much too late. They had good reason to; this almost seemed the work of a miracle and much too good to be true at all. However, this was a genuine event and the Duke had accomplished such an impossible feat overnight. How this phenomenon had been achieved, nobody would know as he would never give a real answer. As for the “Grand Ball,” people had no idea how it would turn out. ~*~ The interior was simply the height of extravagance being as the entire place had been designed along to the theme of a starry night with dim lighting and the entire inside walls and roof being painted in a very dark, slightly iridescent blue. Pure white tablecloths and drapes were everywhere and even lines of small glass crystals hung from them and sparkled in the light. The building was done in two floors; the main floor being where the ballroom floor and performance stage were and an upper balcony where mostly seating was present. The ballroom floor was made of a darker wood so perfectly polished that it even shined in the low light and the performance stage was curtained in with flowing drapes in a color similar to the wall and roofing. The second floor was akin to a smaller Hastings Strip, but had tables and chairs lining the banisters so anyone sitting could watch from above. Various indoor flowers lined the walls on both floors in reasonable places and they kept the surprisingly cool air smelling fresh. On the lower floor’s seating section, aligned with the middle of the room, sat a grand, tall-backed chair made of mahogany wood and cerulean plush upholstery in such a massive size it suggested it had been made for a Roegadyn. Here, of course, sat Rhett, the Duke of the Isles himself, with his left leg crossed over the right while he supported his head with his right arm, elbow perfectly placed upon the armrest. With his long desert blond hair, neatly trimmed facial hair, flawless complexion, mystifying lavender eyes, and the royal blue long-coat he looked almost like a young prince who had been newly crowned king. Holding up his head with his left arm, the elbow lying on the armrests, he gestured with his other hand as he discussed something with a dark suited Hyur man with an interested smile. To the immediate left of his current chair rigidly stood a young, tanned Seeker Miqo’te woman, probably aging about twenty-three in appearance with dusky azure eyes and silky, dark khaki hair set into a loose ponytail at the nape of her neck. Alongside her stiff stance, she wore a silky, deep blue frock that cutoff at her shins to reveal a white skirt made of a similar material and as well carried in her right hand a silver platter with a single wine glass upon it. Her face was as expressionless as imaginable and her eyes simply pointed themselves down indirectly at the floor while she held the plate at a perfect horizontal angle. The limit of the ball seemed to range about at one hundred people, excluding the Duke and servants, and every race seemed to be present in significant numbers. Every attendant seemed to be enjoying themselves with talk and sipping their drinks as they eagerly waited for the dancing, performances, and supper for the night. Some late people still remained outside the ballroom not allowed of getting past the enforcement hired to maintain the limit on the ball. Eventually, the crowds would disperse having been reassured by the guards that the Duke would hold another ball soon and they would have another chance at getting in. Of the guests, a few people might stand out to an attendee’s eyes…
11. Really unique idea! I can't attend, but I'll wish it to go well for you!
12. Updated with a bio blurb for Myrrh Redleaf and a short overview for Duke Rhett. It'll be a while before I get back around to condensing his. Apologies!
13. Though I'm only limited to forum RP, my Fe'lanah could turn out to be a good friend for her. She's generally overbearing in the face of shyness, extroverted as they come, and a wandering Keeper of the Moon as well who easily left society. Just send me a message if it sounds interesting to you, and regardless, I wish thee luck!
14. I definitely feel this. I have missed stuff like this before thanks to chat scroll and it drives me crazy when a lot of paragraphs are being tossed around and I am waiting for a response. Did I miss it? Did they see mine? My internet connection can be finicky sometimes and I have to wonder sometimes if my message actually went through. Though, that part is probably paranoia. I fear interrupting too, but at least you can /tell to ask if it's too much of a bother to join in. Of course, that kinda ruins immersion too and it is still a tad rude. On the other subjects, why is it that my characters end up with grim or dark backstories? Sheesh, I even tried to write my newest creation as happy-go-lucky and it turned grim. I seriously do not understand it.
15. From what I know, there is a free program (I think) called OBStudio that handles video and audio capture. I think it's usually the go-to these days. I've always used Fraps, but it's not free. Adjust the graphics and free up some memory space, and you should be able to do recording on any system. Keep in mind that most video recording programs will likely have to limit your framerate on your side regardless of your system. I know it's not much, but I hope it helps some.
16. You defeat a hippie cat! You obtain 23 tufts of Moko Grass. You obtain a Coerthan Carrot. You obtain some guilt. You defeat a rich scholar! You obtain an odd potion. You obtain 34 gil. You obtain a note with a prodding remark. You defeat a troubled teenager! You obtain your gil purse. You obtain a stale, half-eaten sweet roll. You receive a hefty amount of guilt. You completed a quest objectve for "Thief!"
17. I'm not sure if you're into forum RP, but I do have a selection of characters that might fit along with yours. None of them are Elezen, but two of them could make for some nice non-romantically girlfriends, and the guy could make a nice scholar friend. Fe'lanah, Miqo'te: She's basically a goofy late adolescent Miqo'te who lost a very large portion of her memory and just goes around surviving the wilderness. She likes stars in the night sky (sleeps under them most nights) and despite being a loner, she loves to talk about anything really. She can't really read as result of her memory, but she does like to hear others read. The Duke Rhett, Midlander: He's basically a fair haired, tall, insanely rich aristocrat who shows interest in a lot of things and has a very extensive knowledge in different languages and alchemy. He's a literature collector and a tea connoisseur. He talks around in disguise a lot and throws the occasional party if that's anything Iria is interested in. Although, he ignores romantic advances from either gender and he hasn't shown any interest in letting them not be ignored, so it'll be hard down that route. Friends would be easier here. Myrrh Redleaf, Midlander: (I don't have her information up right now, I'm working on it.) Myrrh is actually, in most cases, a sweet acting Midlander Hyur girl of sixteen whose hobbies seem to be trying to learn to hunt on her own. She basically has no friends because of a...bad habit that tends to show itself once she hangs around someone for too long under the wrong circumstances. She's in serious need of an actual role model or just a good friend. (Just so you know, both Rhett and Myrrh have darker backstories/stories while Fe'lanah is generally more lighthearted with a melancholy undertone.) Just let me know if you want to start up anything with Iria and one of my characters, I'm pretty open. I'm working on an open IC ball that I may set up for Rhett if you're interested. Er, otherwise, I can't really help much. Good luck to you, though!
18. “Uh…maybe? I’ll be honest, I still don’t really understand what she’s trying to do in there,” Fay replied, grinning. She looked outside at the falling sun and blinked, a little confused. Had it really gotten that late? It would be nightfall by the time they reached the town again. Her plans had been very short-sighted and accordingly had not accounted for this. The guards were heavier at night and she could not just send the Elezen back with her water-skins. She had no qualms sharing water on the spot, but not when they would leave her vicinity and especially not when they would go back to that avaricious place people called a “city”; in result, she was not going to let the Elezen deliver them. Besides, who said how long they planned on keeping them? That little idea of hers she had thought of earlier was going to have to work. “About getting back into the city…” Oh, this was going to be hard to explain, so she might as well go through with the first step beforehand. “…Actually, just wait a moment or two, I’ll be right back, okay? Don’t try to take anything; I’ll be able to tell.” She went towards one of her piles of things and retrieved a bucket, which she promptly filled, and went outside with it. She did not think that this was that much of a secret, it was really just a quirk she had wanted to work on hiding. Really, it just happened by accident and she got used to it...
19. Announcements: 4/13/17: The recent emergence of some pretty severe health issues have kept me away longer than I had originally planned, and I'm afraid to say that I will be absent for a few more days longer at the least. I'll be keeping the threads unlocked, but I'm unsure as to when I shall be able to return. ~Feel free to message me about anything at all, especially my characters, or if you need, just post below this. I will check back from time to time.~
20. Here's some brief overviews of my characters (mostly what would go on their wiki) just so you can get the idea of them. I am currently working on a wiki page, but I'm holding off on releasing it until I get a satisfactory drawing done.
21. I. Basic Info Characters: “Cotton” Fe’lanah, the Vagrant; Rhett, the Duke of the Isles; Myrrh Redleaf, the Moral Bandit Primary character: I swap between all of them. Linkshells: None. Primary RP linkshell: None. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I usually sway between medium and heavy, but recently I have really only been roleplaying on the RPC here. I usually like to stray away from having too many OOC break-ins during my roleplay. Views on RP combat and injuries: Sure, why not? My characters for FFXIV are not really combat-oriented, but should the situation comes to it, I will roll with it. As long as you let me know to what ends you hope to get to with it and we make some fair trades in the fight, I will have no problem. Of course, as it stands, you only have really one choice for a fair fight, because otherwise your character will be attacking adolescents. Views on character thoughts: In-game: I do not mind what you do, but I never do it in-game or in any faster paced RP session. On the Forums: I do it sometimes, mostly with Rhett, but I do not give all that much away. I keep the information slightly vague, as if it is a passage from a book that you do not exactly know the exposition to. Views on IC romance: To admit it, I am quite the hopeless romantic and most of what I listen to or read is highly related to love. As result, romance tends to be one of my favorite things in RP and they take realistic time to warm up to people. I prefer to avoid medium to heavy sexual themes in my romance, but that does not mean it is always “sickly sweet and Disney-esque”. But, I do like that kind of love story as well. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): These things are perfectly fine with me, but a lot of discussion is going to have to be made if you want to be a family member of my characters because a lot of their story has to deal with their relatives and old friends. On other games, I actually had quite a few characters that would have been nice to have some family members, but the roleplay never really got around to those. Views on lore: I stick to the lore as often as possible, but I do bend the malleable areas and create my own lore in the grey areas if I have to. I’m not exactly a lore wizard, but I do quite a lot of research before I release any idea. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): In-Game: I tend to prefer using /say and /em for IC things, I tend to use LS and FC chat as either a source of question help or other general OOC things. On Forum: I stick to quotation marks for my dialogue, and any change in language will be done with italics, < >, parentheses, and rarely, bold. III. Other Info Country: United States Timezone: EST or UTC-5, something like that. Contact info: Just message on the forums, I check every day after all.
22. Ironically enough, the two characters I have currently fleshed out the designs for are polar opposites on the concept of gil. Fe’lanah absolutely hates the use of money in any way. She in turn carries no money herself and if she does get any she can’t refuse, she just hands it on to someone and continues along her merry way. She cares a lot about it being used and she tends to fuss at people who do spend it as well as having a reputation for harassing merchants. I guess you could say that she is unnecessarily frugal from society’s point of view; it’s just a result of her personal philosophies. The Duke of the Isles, Rhett is the owner of what seems like infinite wealth that let him essentially buy his title. His massive wealth has resulted in him being somewhat apathetic about how it is used and what qualifies as expensive to him. He speaks about insanely high numbers as if they were pocket change, but he has the odd habit of haggling on everything he purchases even if it falls back to the original price. He usually makes large splurges and does not seem to spend much more for a while. He has no emotional difference in regard to anyone, regardless of their wealth, and will always laugh heartily if anyone asks him if his money ever gets “tight”. He often pays in gil alone, but he values favors being owed to him more than a large portion of his money. So in a nutshell. I have a broke person who hates money and a rich person who does not care about money very much.
23. Fay shrugged as she sat down to fill the water-skins. “I still don’t know. I’m not really that keen on noticing what people do… Oh, are they what you call the lizard people?” It was probably not the right way to say it, but she still had no idea on what to call them. She might have at one time, but she had assuredly forgotten it by now. She also may have had an idea of whatever her reaction to them was, but it was out of mind now. As she was filling up the last one, she came up with an even better idea on how to sneak back into the city, yet she probably wanted to save that idea for a later time. Perhaps if she was still curious tomorrow she could use it to get back in.
24. Duke Rhett would continue to hold his silence entirely as he remained standing there, waiting for the masked woman to depart to wherever it was she planned to hunt. He swiftly resisted the urge to smirk as he saw her freeze in place and began to calmly look up at the sky; he had hit an emotion somewhere inside. He knew or presumed that everyone had these kinds of emotional weak spots that they often tried to hide, ones that easily revealed insight into their thought process. He had his own, sure, but he had made sure they were nearly untouchable… If she began to take off, he would simply check the direction she went in and perhaps follow her a little while later. The oncoming snow made footprints quite temporary, but he could catch up quickly.
