  1. hahahaha this is so fucking typical. SE is in love with Minfilia (a terrible and shitty character poorly written as a MacGuffin Girl and a constant useless distressed damsel) almost as much as they are with Lightning.
  2. I get instant queues into Alexander as NIN all the time, and I usually have to wait no matter what as SCH.
  3. The non-combat NPCs are only around for a little bit of time.
  4. I would have put that one on Aeri in a millisecond, even over the adorableness that is the pixie cut.
  5. Sure, there are a bunch of hairstyles. But how many don't distractingly clip through armor? Very few, and those are the only ones I'll use. The runner-up I linked would have been a nice clipping-free hairstyle. Unfortunately the winner will undoubtedly clip through nigh everything and probably won't have proper physics, so the ponytail will basically be rock-hard. I really wish SE would let hair move and sway to the same degree Wildstar does.
  6. This is probably one of my all-time favorite screenshots I've ever taken. Got this shot while waiting for AFK people between Bismarck EX attempts.
  7. I like the short styles best because SE can't seem to give the long hair realistic physics and keep it from clipping into armor. It's why Aeri has had the pixie cut since I came back for Heavensward. Also because pixie cuts are adorable and super hot.
  8. D: guys noooooo I hope you find what you're looking for. Sadly, Aeriyn is not a guy. But she is gay!
  9. you can't really roll a new character on Balmung, the character creation lock is hardly ever lifted. You'd be better off just transferring your existing character here.
  10. I'm not concerned about having nothing to do, I can always Wildstar or play Trails SC or any number of the giant pile of crap I bought on Steam sales and never actually played. It just seemed like an excessive amount of time. But if they're doing infrastructure upgrades, then I'm all for it.
  11. We don't know what else they may be doing at the same time. Perhaps they have 50 windows updates pending at the same time. Perhaps they need to defrag drives or do other disk maintenance. Maybe they have UPS batteries to replace. There are any number of things that can go wrong with hardware that has near 100% up-time and consistent resource usage. If they have 50 windows updates I'd expect the downtime to be more like a week!
  12. Why the shit does it take 24 hours to apply this patch? It's not even adding that much stuff. The 2.x patches were usually larger than this and they never took a whole damn day...
  13. I don't like it. I liked the other one, the one that didn't win. This one: http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/hairdesign_2015/F_08.jpg I'm really sad it didn't win.
  14. Thanks for your kind words! And yeah, that's exactly the sort of place I'm wanting to build. Not to mention some good RP plots! *solidarity high-five*
  15. Hi there! I'm Aeriyn, and I'm a trans MMO player. In pretty much every game I've played, I've been othered, set aside from the rest of the player base due to being trans, either through fear of harassment from other players or simply by being the only trans person in the guild or community. Socializing was always scary, especially in guilds where voice chat was mandatory for participating in events. Radiant Stars is a new Free Company on Balmung that seeks to become a supportive and safe community for queer and trans* players of Final Fantasy XIV. While there are plenty of LGBTQIA-friendly Free Companies and linkshells already in the wild, I have not found any that exist specifically to provide a supportive and comforting play environment for trans players. My goal with Radiant Stars is to alleviate those fears by building and maintaining a community that encourages transgender, nonbinary and otherwise queer members to work and play together and enjoy all that FFXIV has to offer. As we build a stable and close-knit group, we'll be able to host regular scheduled events in the three major areas of the game: middle-game PvE (leveling, FATEs, questing and glamour farming), end-game PvE (Alexander: Gordias and the upcoming Void Ark, possible Savage/EX Trial statics) and roleplaying. Radiant Stars is a "midcore" FC in every aspect, ranging from roleplaying to PvE content. We're a little more than casual, but not quite "hardcore." Radiant Stars falls somewhere in the middle. Those looking for a dedicated pure-RP company or a serious raids-four-days-a-week endgame FC, Radiant Stars will likely not be a good fit. However, if you're a queer or trans player, whether you're into roleplaying or PvE content or both, and you'd like to be a part of a safe community that places respect and kindness above all, you'd likely be very much at home in Radiant Stars. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you in-game! --- (FC forum page is currently under construction; link will be updated once it's ready to use.)
  16. Here's how to do it fast: Get 180 weapon, body, legs. Get one 180 ring so you can have a Yasha and an Asuran ring and not use an i160 ring. Week 1: A1 Chain, A2 Lens, A3 Lens, A4 Crank Week 2: A1 Pedal, A2 Pedal, A3 Crank, A4 Spring In two weeks, you now have i190 hat, gloves, belt and shoes. Week 3: A1 Bolt, A2 Bolt, A3 Spring, A4 Spring Week 4: A1 Bolt, A2 Bolt, A3 Spring, A4 Shaft In four weeks you have every part i190, except the body armor and the second ring slot because SE is silly and made rings unique. By this time you could buy one of the i200 Job-Specific Equipment body armors and an i200 ring. If you want the i200 weapon first, you'll have to stick with the i180 body armor for another 3 weeks to get the parts.
  17. This OVA really pissed me off because I always build Estelle into a monster physical damage dealer, to the point where her basic attacks are outdamaging other characters' S-Crafts. And she's shown getting her head handed to her basically every time she fights... Meanwhile, on my save files, she's smashing skulls and splattering blood with gleeful abandon.
  18. *tacklehugs* YOU'RE STILL HERE?! Someone I know, finally!
  19. blasphemy *ponders her achieves for max bracer rank and defeating Lorence/Loewe in the "hopeless" battle on the Grancel Castle terrace... *
  20. Yeah I felt the exact same way. It seems like very set we share with Dragoons they get the better coloration. At least they could have kept the black/red purple/white theme... I'd love the tank set to be in the same colorway as the healer set. Grumble grumble EVERY PIECE OF ARMOR EVER SHOULD BE DYEABLE.
  21. Really sad the red/black coat on the dark-haired miqo'te (#4) is not the tank gear. At least tanks get the same design, but... brown... ugh... was so hoping for the black and red. Caster and healer looks great though.
  22. Ah yeah! We talked BLM shop! I remember! Thank you for your kind words. I have seen a few people with the Unity FC tag, so I'm happy the FC is still alive and well and I didn't break it completely. I literally just transferred back off of Mateus yesterday, so I don't know what's what on the server currently. (YES I KNOW I AM SO HAPPY. I bought Trails SC on launch day. Already put a good chunk of time into it and will probably play some more tonight since I replaced my stolen gamepad! I hope I'll be able to find a Vita cheap somewhere so I can play Sen no Kiseki as well.)
  23. You played TERA, right? On Celestial Hills?
  24. It wasn't really the game that upset me last time (though I admit trying to run such a large number of Coil groups was both stressful and ineffective), but I'm hoping things will work out better now. Thanks.
  25. Hi there. Aeriyn here. It's been a long time since I've posted on here. I'm sure at least some of you remember me, whether the memories are good, or bad... In the months leading up to when I quit, things weren't going well in my real life and I am sure I wasn't a very pleasant person to be around. Some folks, both in my old FC and former members of it, unfortunately got the worst of that and I am still regretting not stepping away months sooner to deal with my problems. Rather than letting them turn me into an unpleasant and awful jerk and taking it out on people I disagreed with. Anyway. Fast forward a year or so later and minus one very abusive long-term relationship, plus finally being able to address my various health problems, I felt okay enough to play an MMO again without being a hazard to everyone around me. I've been on Mateus since the Heavensward launch, but like I mentioned, the population was just way, way too low to do what I'd like, whether it's endgame related, RP related or community related. I'm hoping to reconnect with people I used to play with and meet new people as well. It's been over a year since I was active on Balmung, so I don't expect to see a raft of familiar names, but I suspect at least some folks are still around. For those who don't know me, well, I'm thirty-one, a queer femme trans girl who likes to play video games to help cope with depression and anxiety. I like RPGs the best, and that of course includes MMOs. My first one was FFXI, all the way back in the dark ages of 2003. I also played WoW all the way through vanilla and most of the way through Burning Crusade (I quit right before Sunwell Plateau was added). Other MMOs I've played include Aion, The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2 and TERA. I still occasionally play Wildstar since it's gone F2P. Outside of gaming, I'm an author. I write queer science fiction and fantasy about queer girls. I've got a good bit of work out in the wild on Amazon's Kindle Store, including three novels with a fourth one shortly on the way. I also have a few short stories published as well. Of course, since I love writing, I also love to read and I spend a lot of time with my nose stuck in other people's books as well as my own. I'm also into cooking, lolita fashion, computers and tech and various other things that may or may not be that interesting to read about. I'm really interested in meeting other queer people on the server, especially queer women and other transfeminine people. One of the things that bothered me most about being on Mateus was being fairly isolated within the groups I was a part of, since they were all cis or straight. I'm hoping that by returning to my original server with its high population I'll be able to meet more people like me. ... Well, this got incredibly long-winded. I think I'll end it here. If you read this and remember me or just think you might want to talk or RP or dungeon together, just poke me in-game; my character's name is Aeriyn Ashley. Thanks for reading.
