This particular LS will not be hosting events. And I think until the numbers become a problem, we shouldn't need to split up to accomodate timezones. In fact, having EU players involved might be nice for those of us who keep really odd late-night / early-morning hours. Such as myself.

And obviously if it's something you don't want to be a part of, there's no pressure. I think most LSers will stick to their linkshells, but it'd be nice to have a general chat to go to if, say, your LS is empty.

LOL Yeah my first wake-up call on this was when I bought my 9800 GTX+ OC. I literally had to swap all of my internal components into an old but larger case just to fit all of it. My new 470 GTX is the same size, though, which is "nice". I mean... I'm glad they didn't get bigger... The reason why? Well... video cards now are nearly as powerful as the main computer. nVidia cards handle not just graphics but also physics processing. Also since the GPUs run faster and therefore hotter, they need much more cooling than older cards, hence the huge fans. Yes. My GTX 480... bought it, it arrived in the mail and realized it would never fit in my case. Got a new one, and much better. Has four onboard fans, two to take in cool air and two to vent hot air, plus an internal cooling. But even with the larger case we couldn't save the wireless card because of HP's proprietary fixture for it.

This was the real reason why I started that Freelancer thread. Pretty much to a T.

So what's the final verdict on us having a irc?

How do you guys hang out with these linkshells? I mean, given than an LS is prone to taking care of its members first, since they're sort of like families. Do you randomly encounter them in parties or in towns? Do these sort of relationships really come about easily?

In my linkshell back in FFXI, IC conversations were the norm and expected standard of LS interaction. Meet ups weren't planned; if someone was heading to a tavern they would invite other to come along IC. If anyone was going to be going to, say, the Crawler's Nest to 'train', they'd ask if anyone was interested in joining. I didn't know much OOC conversation for event planning/ roleplaying. So I guess what I'm saying is that, I don't think there needs to be that sort of environment because of the LS. You can OOC if you want in /tells but the LS was almost always for IC discussion. Though I do agree with the impetus to initiate contact when you don't have an LS. That does force you to be more proactive with people that you might not otherwise be.
