  1. You can't control that though. Central characters will rise because of the nature of this. In reality that happens and in this that will happen. With lack of a narrative, people will creative narratives, and the strongest of those writers will rise to the top and be the central cast.
  2. WU-TANG CLAN AINT NOTHING TO F* WIT
  3. Haunting's the only one of those that bugs me.
  4. Aaaaaah my eyes! Silly Renaise. You're no Rolanberry. You don't even have any leaves!
  5. 1 out of 4 couples meets online. Thanks Match.com!
  6. PC. This has essentially been the game that has finally motivated me to upgrade my video card.
  7. Maybe you should do a "Freelancer Rollcall" to gauge how much participation would happen.

There's often no pressure for fluency in the U.S. though. I live in Texas so Spanish is something I don't have to worry about, because we speak it all the time at stores here and with neighbors. But there's no pressure on me to be fluent in, say, French.

You don't have to worry. Most people in Europe nowadays speak English if not a few other languages. ESPECIALLY people who are on the internet a lot. They are taught it at young ages, in school. America though? They try to begin teaching us other languages when we're teenagers. Yet another reason why our school system is full of fail... The school system isn't as bad as you think. There is a lot of alarmism though. I can speak other stuff I just prefer not to. I don't like having to think through what I'm going to say before I say it (in terms of making sure I'm correct).
  10. I love to ERP with my linkshell friends.
  11. Well if anyone has seen or read The Maxx they know what Sin's mind is like.

Well, if there's international servers, it's not that unlikely that you will at some point run into someone from France. Maybe he/she will even be a roleplayer. Yes but I'm not going to try and RP with a French speaker. Language barrier is too high, I'd rather roleplay with someone with lower language barriers.
  13. I would totally give everyone in this thread's right legs for the game. Mine being the exception, of course.

When am I going to be RPing with somebody that speaks French though?

Not to mention French derivative "Chateau d'oraguille"

This probably will get sorted out among ourselves within the context of our linkshells anyway.

If someone said something to me like "Goldpaw" I would ask them in a /tell OOC what they were talking about. BTW I'm not sure there's an "official" anything since this board is only a coalition of groups. Anything "official" would rather be fittingly handled by the guild to which you belong.

I don't think there's an RP reason for designating terms different things. This is an English dominant board and the term will be Keeper of the Sun, not Goldpaw.
  19. Mine is struggling with a psychosis that allows him flashes into other dimensions or (so he thinks), lengthy periods of amnesia (during which he may or may not be assuming an alternate personality that unleashes his violent madness in murderous ways), and battles against a may-or-may-not exist demon (that may or may not be the manifestation of his guilt for a vast genocide he -perhaps- accidentally committed) through decades of time in which he barely seems to age. So yeah
  20. Guess it's just not my irk.
  21. "I don't think any of the listed RP groups benefited from this at all sadly." Truth. "The majority of RPers have pretty much abandoned Vana'diel." Truth. What was the problem again?
  22. There's french in the very naming of locations in the Elven kingdom. Actually more to the point... We don't speak English there either. English is simply the most widely accepted 'translation' of whatever language is being used in Vanadiel because we're (mostly) Americans. In Germany it's a different case and in Japan it's a different case. If somebody uses French words it's no more absurd that pretending, in game, everyone is speaking English. Well of course, but that's just my example. When you play a game that has established languages, and someone suddenly starts going "OUI OUI BAGGUETE DU FROMAGE?!" don't you want to slap them? Depends how it's handled. It can be very condescending.
