First and foremost, I want to preface this is not a recruitment thread or an attempt to establish a Free Company. However, if this is not the place to ask this type of question, please let me know and I'll move the thread as soon as possible. My question, to both old and new players alike, is creating a brand new FC, primarily focused on rp, worth it if (so far) you've found nothing that currently fits within the realm of your character? Have people found themselves in a similar situation? Or have any of you actually tried this and found the challenges not worth it and/or not rewarding? I'm not looking to switch my homeworld or rewrite the character but I'd really appreciate some advice! I've always enjoyed connecting with communities and making new friends so I hope to not completely throw away the idea of an FC for the character but if people feel that is the better route, please don't hesitate to say so, I'm looking for all ranges of constructive feedback.

((Admins, if this post isn't allowed here, please remove it.)) So, I'm not the most social person, but I run an RP-FC themed around a tavern theme, and I'm pretty happy with it. Pre-COVID we did a semi-frequent events and ended up gaining some regulars and it was fun. Then we needed to take a break from that because of IRL/COVID related things and are just getting back into doing events. Except no one is coming. The most we've had for a 'recent' event was 5 people? Other than that, we've had folks walk in, ignore our greeter, look around and then leave without a world. It's getting a little disheartening and frustrating to say the least. We're based on Coeurl, and do public events once every other week (partially due to IRL scheduling, and partially to have room for IC-stories and developments). I'm the only one doing the advertising across discords and in PF. If I'm doing anything wrong or if any other venue RPers have any tips they could pass along, that would be awesome and appreciated. Hello everyone, My name is Euphemia Corina. I have just finished all of the Main Scenario Quests, and I am looking for a community. I am currently on the Goblin Server so if you're also located there let me know. To give you all a brief synopsis: -I have played a few other MMORPGs over the years. None of which were as fun as FF14. -I have little to no RP experience, but I am willing to learn and can't wait to get started! -On my quest for a RP FC, I found this space, lucky me. -I am aiming to be a medium role-player and with practice heavy soon. - I am looking for a bit of help with my character's background, but mostly I am here for friends on and off of my server. Hi folks!! Brand spanking new to FF14 (my first character hit 21 last night!) but I've rp'd for many many years in other games. I'm trying to get an idea of what is kosher and what is taboo as far as FF14 goes so I can make a decent character. Are bounty hunters a thing? What about villians (thieves, assassins, etc.)? Do people rp as apprentices looking for masters? Do they do the training/student rp that would go with that? What about very religious characters- obviously never having spoken to a God but has themselves convinced their special. Actors, dancers, acrobats, musicians- are they common? Anything else you can think of to avoid?

Greetings, all. I go by Savader, or "Sav" for short when out of character. As detailed in the title there, I am a returning player (up to about halfway through Stormblood, originally), having been on hiatus for the past year and a half. I decided to create a new character in a different world (Goblin), with my primary intentions being to enjoy the wonderful and beautiful world of Eorzea through roleplay. I am familiar with the concept of conventional roleplaying (i.e. writing), but must admit that this avenue will be fairly fresh to me. All the same, I am very interested in giving it a go. Now, I have been told by many sources that the ideal RP communities can be found in either Balmung or Mateus. Question is, should I world hop over to one of them, or does it not matter in the grand scheme of things? Thus, I turn to you fine people for guidance. How is roleplaying on Goblin, for instance? Are there many available plots of land to purchase? Is the community strong and welcoming? And I'd ask the same of Balmung and Mateus, respectively. How do they stack up against Goblin? Please, share your experiences, preferences, and advice on this matter. I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm so new to FFXIV I don't even have a character. I probably plan to rp within a day or two, and I've already looked at what servers are good for rp - however, I'm not clear on what jobs are reasonable for an RPer, since a couple threads I read implied only the "warrior of light" is legally allowed to walk around with things like Black Magic. What jobs/classes should I look at while making an rp character? I know there's an IC/Gameplay split, but I just want to develop both from the outset.
