Ryanti Posted June 16, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2015 So two impossible dreams came true at Sony's E3 this year. FFVII remake, and Shenmue. Fucking. Three. Here is the link to the Kickstarter page: Lemme run by some facts for you. Raised $100,000 dollars in ten minutes. Raised $50,000 in two minutes. In 45 minutes, raised $600,000 dollars. Goal is $2,000,000. Between the time I started this thread and the time I posted it up, went from $680k to $742k. Link to comment

Kellach Woods Posted June 16, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 16, 2015 Half-funded as of now. I really hope they find a way to release 1-2 as a bundle so you can get ready for 3. Link to comment
Jonexe Posted June 16, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 16, 2015 It hit $2mil roughly 9 hours after posting. I do believe that's a record for Kickstarter. Link to comment
Griffith! Posted June 16, 2015 Share #6 Posted June 16, 2015 Maybe it goes without saying, but do you have any idea how much the game-playing public actually wanted Shenmue 3? Now imagine how quickly we could fund Half-Life 2: Episode Three. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted June 16, 2015 Share #7 Posted June 16, 2015 Considering 1 was on DC and 2 was on original Xbox I'd wager it's not as high as you think if you only count those who played the originals. It's a legendary game because it was never finished. The story behind the kickstarter is just as good as the game itself (14 years in the making, and ends the actual story?) BTW : Shenmue 3 has full cooperation from Sega for using the license, and I'm not as naive as to think they didn't notice this and aren't looking to see if they can't do a Shenmue 1+2 HD collection or something. Griffith! Posted June 16, 2015 Share #8 Posted June 16, 2015 I'm just saying it's consistently been top ten in every "most wanted sequel" or "most wanted unreleased" list pretty much every time they make one (spurious). I don't know how many people played the originals, but it's not like nobody's ever owned a Dreamcast and an Xbox. Plenty of people have played the originals, whether on their native systems or via emulators. And Shenmue itself ain't exactly an unpopular title itself - it's consistently on "Greatest ever" lists, too. Shenmue 3 is just one of those games people have always wanted, but we never thought we'd actually get. Link to comment
Branson Thorne Posted June 16, 2015 Share #9 Posted June 16, 2015 Couldn't care less, not a fan of the games myself. Excited for you fans though, hopefully it's good for ya'. Link to comment
Brynhilde Posted June 16, 2015 Share #10 Posted June 16, 2015 Jchcruybdrjyvbvbd You got me ridiculously excited with that thread title. > Anyway, when I get home from work I'll throw some money behind this. I need to drink more soda and ride more forklifts, damnit. Link to comment
TheLastCandle Posted June 16, 2015 Share #11 Posted June 16, 2015 Been waiting for this for well over a decade. Shenmue 1 & 2 were among the handful of games my brother and I owned for Dreamcast back in the day. EASILY more excited for this than for FF7R. Link to comment
Devereau Posted June 16, 2015 Share #12 Posted June 16, 2015 I really hope this turns out good. The frightening thing with games such as this that have been sitting about desired for...what, 14 years? People get pretty high expectations, even if it's not entirely intended. Really hoping its great though. Might be a bit easier for it to be, since there's at least the gaping hole where a conclusion needs to be wedged in. Link to comment
Manari Posted June 16, 2015 Share #13 Posted June 16, 2015 Do you know where sailors hang out? I played Shenmue on my Dreamcast and I finished it. But I wasn't enough of a fan to get the second one. I'm glad that so many people care and are going to get the 3rd game. It's rough that the game never got its conclusion. Link to comment

cherrybomb Posted June 17, 2015 Share #15 Posted June 17, 2015 This is really fucking excellent. It's not often that you get resolution on a fourteen year cliffhanger. First Shenmue 3, and then Nier 2 by way of Platinum Games... pinch me. oh also FFVII remake or w/e Link to comment

Of course, I'm biased because while I'm happy for all of you, I'd rather Yu Suzuki give us another VF. Link to comment
