FF14's getting Zidane Outfit

To be honest, as much as people say immersion will be broken by the motorcycle, FF14 2.0 has started this trend of incorporating past FF games into the realm for armor design to weapons. I mean, try to explain to someone how the boomerange thingy from ff13 (Sorry i hate the game, didn't bother to learn the name of weapons) can turn into a holo book?

I welcomed the idea that it would bring about multiple FF games into one setting. Not just through renaming but the actual characters and what not. I mean i giggled at the second Gilgamesh fight with Enkidu (how he looked back in Ff5) and the original music playing before the second phase. I rather loved Ultros sub line for Hildibrand (speaking of...WE NEED MORE HILDIBRAND!) and the reward for subbing costumes so far got me gitty. I mean for crying out loud, Arala wears the Warrior of Light armor for a reason.. I love it's design from the artwork and seeing an actual Ingame version i can wear on my toon being official makes me pray they will also release a Paladin Cecil attire. I would have a major hard on when and if they announce Cecil Paladin attire.

Then again I come from WoW where people ride around on giant death mechs powered by demons from space...and in Legion said demons will have Space Ship Cruisers.

Wait about 2-3 more years of this game and the insanity/stupidity meter will go through the roof on what will be allowed. Soon enough we might even have some odd caster gear mimicking Gogo from FF6 or Cid's attire from FF7 for Dragoons.

Now this is not going to break my immersion. I can see people already claiming that it was a Garlean prototype they stole or they fashioned it out of parts but hated making something that walked and wanted something that rolled. There are possibilities to the bike's origins and I welcome the fun ideas.

P.S: hit the spoiler to see the Mech powered by Demon energy i was talking about.

Even if the bike was implemented I'd hope nobody would try to say their motorcycle is gotten from very rare or dangerous circumstances and then throw a fit OOC when they see ten other person zoom by with one IC also.

I've seen it happen plenty of times with other items before. More people will hate the cloud bike because they aren't the only ones riding around on it ic or ooc and wanna feel special.

Like that one guy who says A class sucks before release yet he's the first one to max it out and call it his main.

I want a motorcycle that does 20 MPH.

IIRC, this is the exact reason that the developers cited for not implementing the bike. Set at normal mount speeds, it was awkwardly slow and therefore unsatisfying. Set at higher speeds that suited the concept, the bike's speed was not only unfair but it would break maps and the game itself as a result.

Made a slight change to the subject title so as to not misinform people new to this thread.

I find the lack of wheeled vehicles and interesting bit of worldbuilding though. Especially after the calamity. What's the point of rebuilding all these roads when they could all get knocked aside at the next calamity.

Makes sense they stick with chocobos (who can handle rough terrain and poor roads) and are pushing for airships to avoid the issue altogether.

But you know what this means...

HOVERBOARDS! :D

For what it's worth I feel like there's a lot of merit behind the 'immersion' argument. Yes, FFXIV is full of references to previous Final Fantasy titles but so far almost all of them have fit the setting fairly well.

The bike, however, just feels out of place. Nothing we've seen of the high tech civilisations present in the setting have been shown to embrace that sort of technology. Garlemald is more like The Archadian Empire and The Gestahlian Empire than Midgar from what we've seen so far so the 'magitek' argument doesn't hold much weight in my eyes.

With that said the cynic in me firmly believes that they'll add it at some point. The fact that they decided to randomly give a turtle mount the ability to fly shows that they'll quite readily add stuff like that to appease vocal fans. It's not the end of the world but if it becomes too common to the point where FFXIV becomes as quirky as WoW did in its recent years then I'll likely make my peace and take my leave of the game.

After all I ended up drifting towards FFXIV because it took itself a bit more seriously than WoW did in regards to consistency and world building.

But seriously let's be real here. Motorcycles have been ruined in Final Fantasy forever thanks to the horrendous abomination that was FFXIII. There's a reason the Boy Band in FFXV chose a sedan instead of forming a vigilante biker gang.

Final Fantasy: Grand Theft Auto XV

I think Chocobos could gain some more speed still. Unless we need to start placing chocbos with NOS canisters attached to them.

All outside of lore and story gibberish, I honestly would not mind having a motorcyle out of character since it's just a mount to enjoy once in a while.

It's kind of funny when everyone is looking at the perspective of devs not implementing fan service items into the game because it doesn't fit into the lore. We have plenty of stuffs that shouldn't be even implemented into the lore for pets/minions, mounts and even costumes.

But hey, 20mph Bike is okay for me still. I mean... we got flying turtle mounts too. So I also wouldn't mind having flying bikes.

I'm gonna cosplay as Lemmy with a Roegadyn Fantasia and a bush hat and hussar's gear and own the roads on my bike. That's the way I like it, baby, I don't wanna live forevah~
