Definitely not a robot

Recommended Posts

I took the test at registration, so I'm sure.

Hi-ho. I never do introductions on RP forums, but because this site isn't connected to Enjin like every other MMO RP community I've ever joined, I thought it might be a good idea to attempt to adjust my social programming for once. I mean, be more social. I'm not a robot.

As a non-robot, I've had a lot of experience with RP. I've RPed for about ten years, starting on various forums, and afterwards spent about two years in SWTOR and another two spent off-and-on in ESO. I bought FFXIV about maybe a month and a half ago. Funny thing is, I did the trial quite a long time ago and didn't like it at all. But it was on sale so I decided to grab it and see if I couldn't make it work in the free month I had. Turned out I did like it, but that Lancer was not a good first-choice of class. Found it way too slow. So, I've been pushing on ahead with story missions for the most part and just made it to Ishgard.

I'm curious to poke around and observe now that I have a better feel for the lore (just got a transfer to Balmung today, and still want to do more research before I commit to anything). But am curious, where does the RP happen typically? I've heard this community is pretty huge. Also, what's the typical procedure for alts? Obviously it takes a big time investment to be able to access everywhere. Do people tend to bother much with alts? I'm just curious as I tend to have ideas for multiple characters hammer me at once. Probably just sticking with one for now, personally.

Anyway, hi. Still not a robot.

I clicked on this because for a flash second I suspected that bots had become smarter. I am glad to see it is a new shiny person instead. Hello new shiny person, welcome to the boards! o/

Welcome to the RPC!

RP typically happens all over the place, but you'll find a lot of casual RP in Ul'dah. The calendar here on the website will be your best friend as people create events that may be in their homes. As for alts, lots of people have them, but not as many fully level them to 60. I've done it almost 3 times now and it's particularly torturous. If you do plan on transferring to Balmung I recommend making 8 characters on one server and transferring them all to Balmung if you do want alts. That way you're getting the most out of your money and if you ever do want to play the alt, they'll be on the server. The server is essentially permanently closed, so at least if you have the itch to play an alt, they'll be there.

If you do have questions feel free to ask! People are friendly here. Welcome once again!

This is excellent advice for starters. In addition, there are also a good number of RP FC's out there that do RP off the beaten path such as in the residential housing districts. This RP can be more difficult to map- you need to get involved with FC linkshells and start to make headway into the general community before this becomes more easy to track. You can also toss up a Making Connections post here on the RPC as a means to find targeted, niche-type RP.

Regardless, best of luck on the hunt!

ANOTHER FELLOW ROBOT.

I mean, hi! :D I'm looking at your character name and it is familiar for some reason. Maybe I've seen you in game at some point. Either way, I am a huge alt-holic. Yes, seven transferred to Balmung is how dedicated I am. Though, if you're just starting out It might be your best bet to just stick with one for a bit and get around.

If you'd ever like to RP in game I'm Sileas Bishop!

It's a shame you're not a robot. I may or may not have a certain biased affinity towards robots, and it would go a long way if a certain person were to be discovered to be a robot...

But hey, welcome!

Greetings non-robot!

Just a few answers to your questions as I too leveled up a couple of alts. Leveling up isn't that bad but it's the MSQ that can kill the drive to keep them up to date.

There are no procedures for alts really, you weave the characters into stories however way you like!

As for where RP typically happens... Balmung population is huge so you might feel a little lost trying to just find it. Quicksand is a popular place to start for many, as well as some of the RP events that are listed on the calendar in this forum.

But if like me, you find yourself a little overwhelmed to go to a crowded place full of strangers (although that can be exciting too!), then I suggest looking around the forums and see who you may want to contact for RP. I have had good success with PMing people I have never met based on their OOC/IC posts and online personality.

All in all, definitely-not-robot person, I wish you luck and a lots of fun!
