Nel Celestine Posted August 11, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2013 After reading all the topics, browsing all the points. This is the unbiased, fact driven discussion about the servers. This video is not for promoting one server or the other but rather to set many things straight and inform new players of their options. This was compiled with the help of several forum members. One mistake during the video. It is mentioned about the gil cut, but the prices misread. The cost of items has been reduced as well. X1pQVQ3Fd9U 1 Link to comment

Rhio Posted August 11, 2013 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2013 That's it, I can no longer hold in my bias. Everyone should be rolling a new character on Balthier. Don't start in with that "there's no server by that name" garbage. My bias is correct and you should all conform. Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted August 11, 2013 Share #4 Posted August 11, 2013 Balthier is the one true server Link to comment
Gone4everbye Posted August 11, 2013 Share #5 Posted August 11, 2013 That was fast! Glad some of the feedback I threw at you was discussed there. Link to comment

Costia Posted August 11, 2013 Share #7 Posted August 11, 2013 I am a new roleplayer to Final Fantasy XIV and I have to say I agree with what was said in the video about being accepted into the Bal-community. Crystalline (led by Eva) has given me a very fair chance when I joined up with them almost a full eight months! I've never touched the game (Only the Beta for 1.0) and they've not judged me on that what-so ever. Balmung (I'm sure Gilgamesh will be too) isnt closed off to new comers like myself (Its only a stigma). Whatever server you choose, I only hope you support not only your server but the other as well (as the video was made for). Wonderful Job Nel and Crew! Link to comment
Adolar Posted August 11, 2013 Share #8 Posted August 11, 2013 Thanks for making the video. It was really insightful. I'm still planning to go Gilgamesh but I have a better idea of what I'm jumping into now. Link to comment
Dameon Posted August 11, 2013 Share #9 Posted August 11, 2013 I came across this video on FFXIVRealm.com, and was wondering if anyone had posted it here. Also, are you guys planning to have a back and forth at some point? This seemed kind of like a PSA. Link to comment
Nel Celestine Posted August 11, 2013 Author Share #10 Posted August 11, 2013 I came across this video on FFXIVRealm.com, and was wondering if anyone had posted it here. Also, are you guys planning to have a back and forth at some point? This seemed kind of like a PSA. Not quite sure what you mean. ^^; I posted it over there as it is my channel and such. I just wanted to end the pointless spiral of bickering. Link to comment
Rhio Posted August 11, 2013 Share #11 Posted August 11, 2013 I will say that Nel consulted several people on this one and got feedback from people on every side of the fence. The goal was not to present a "correct" option, just to summarize everything in one place to minimize the need for further back-and-forth. Link to comment
Reppu Posted August 11, 2013 Share #12 Posted August 11, 2013 And Nel did an excellent job! Love the videos! Link to comment
Xerek Devereux Posted August 11, 2013 Share #13 Posted August 11, 2013 Hopefully I didn't stammer too much during the intro. We wanted to avoid the "us vs. them" mentality that has been growing here. I think everyone is getting sick of statements like "Come to server [x]! Server [y] players kick puppies and eat babies!". So, rather then a direct confrontation we instead opted to lists the pros and cons of each independently. Any time you directly say that one server is better then the other on any point is a time you're dropping a lit match next to gasoline. Might cause an explosion, might not, but why risk it? Hopefully, this gives new players solid facts to base their decision on and maybe...maybe...quell this back and forth verbal warfare. Hopefully. Thanks to Nel for inviting me to help with this. Was a lot of fun! :moogle: Link to comment

Vee Posted August 11, 2013 Share #17 Posted August 11, 2013 Yes! I will suggest this when I happen to be posting on welcome topics and people are debating which server to go to, very good to see stuff like this happening. Link to comment

Frenzic Posted August 12, 2013 Share #19 Posted August 12, 2013 I'm new here and know nothing of your reasons for wanting to play on any particular server and I'm not here to judge just give some more information. I'm part of a hardcore mmo community that are extreme elitest. I am choosing not to be a part of them for FFXIV because I want to take it slow and enjoy the game with nice people for a change. The community is called Rerolled.org (formally Fires of heaven) and they are going to gilgamesh in full stride. Add them to the list of questionable communities going there. Link to comment
Kyatai Posted August 14, 2013 Share #20 Posted August 14, 2013 Ack. I've never experienced FoH, but I've heard stories from others when I played WoW & Rift.... Hopefully wont be too bad for the folks going to Gilgamesh, though.... FoH typically rush for endgame and sever firsts, right? Link to comment
Amyr Mythweaver Posted August 14, 2013 Share #21 Posted August 14, 2013 I thought that the video was very well presented considering the contentious issue at hand, it was clear that you all wanted it to be as neutral as possible and it was well thought out, I think you covered pretty much all the questions players might have regarding their choice of server. Well done, not only because of the quality of the presentation but your still here trying to keep us (the RP community) informed and not giving into the frustration this topic has stirred up, I admire that I really do. Algin Posted August 21, 2013 Share #22 Posted August 21, 2013 I know that unofficial RP server for EU is propably going to be Moogle, but as it's mostly french server, and I don't know much French, I'm bit on the fence to go there. I was thinking of Balmung, but as it's US player and I also like to do pure PvE stuff alongside with RP, I'm curious, if there will be enough players in my playtime (I think it will be about 3pm-7pm EST time), so I can play with others there Link to comment
Clover Posted August 21, 2013 Share #23 Posted August 21, 2013 Another split? O_O Well, I'm an EU player, playing with other EU players who have gone to Balmung. It's the original unofficial RP servers, so it's open for everyone around the world. If you'd like to be around other players from Europe, there's a Linkshell and an endgame focused Free company for European RPers to keep in touch ^^ Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted August 21, 2013 Share #24 Posted August 21, 2013 Since all the servers (Eu and NA) are in Montreal, I have no idea why the EU players would choose to go somewhere else Link to comment
Mayumi Shiro Posted August 21, 2013 Share #25 Posted August 21, 2013 I really don't see the point in another "unnoficial RP server" There's already two of them. Why water down your options more? Link to comment
