Oroban Posted September 17, 2013 Share #101 Posted September 17, 2013 wow reading all this despite queue times makes me feel like a godly dps since I always go after adds in every boss fight and follow my marks accordingly and if no marks I usually attack the monster the tank is not attacking Wait, is that how DPS see it? "If the tank doesn't take the time to mark everything, I'll just go after something he's not keeping the attention of?" Because sometimes I either forget to mark, or I have DPS that like to initiate if I take the time to do it. Running around is never fun. Link to comment

If you don't, you'll almost certainly pull threat. Then, because the healer is healing you AND the tank at the same time, the healer will soon out-threat you and end up tanking. Link to comment

LiadansWhisper Posted September 17, 2013 Share #104 Posted September 17, 2013 also whenever I do its never an issue I I make sure to watch my damage output It's just easier on the tank - especially at low levels - if you stick with his target. Tanks are playing with half (if that) of their toolset, and they don't get really good snap-threat until about level 40. Link to comment

Tabrett Posted September 17, 2013 Share #106 Posted September 17, 2013 I actually see a lot of DPS who don't follow marking. Target one does not equal Target two! And when they smack it and steal hate... :frustrated: Idiocity does not mean your tank sucks for 'not holding hate'. And if you do it enough, I'm probably going to let you die. Link to comment
Fystrael Abylstyrwyn Posted September 18, 2013 Share #107 Posted September 18, 2013 It's like running a preschool class. I've assisted in a preschool class and gotten far better cooperation, even before snack and nap time. :\ Link to comment
Eve Malusion Posted September 18, 2013 Share #108 Posted September 18, 2013 I don't really get bothered by dps queues because I avoid them entirely (I just don't go in the first place unless I have tank or healer available). Still gonna complain about the most annoying queue in the game though. Amdapor Keep: The full group queue. They have too few instances for that dungeon so in primetime you can sit in queue for nearly an hour with a full premade! It is ridiculous! Link to comment

Salty Lake Posted September 20, 2013 Share #116 Posted September 20, 2013 I think people are avoiding queues as DPS because I had to wait 5-10 minutes go get a DPS for Titan (story mode) when grouped with a healer and DPS from my LS (I am tank). Once I hit 30+ content, I also had to queue a while as white mage (my 1.0 job)! I must have been competing with all the scholars. Link to comment
Caelia Posted September 26, 2013 Share #117 Posted September 26, 2013 This might show how much of a nerd I am but whenever I get into a queue as a DPS, I go and craft, do leves, and listen to podcasts while I work. Usually it's stuff like "Stuff Mom Never Told You" or "Things You Missed in History Class". It keeps my mind occupied. I've also been known to read a book in queue. Link to comment
Asyria Posted September 27, 2013 Share #118 Posted September 27, 2013 It usually takes me half an hour to queue as DPS in eastern time evening. Protip: convince a healer or tank friend to queue with you. It significantly shortens the wait. I also usually ask around my LS's or FC if anyone wants to join. Since we all suffer this at one point or another, people have been pretty nice with helping, especially if it's for story-advancing purposes. Link to comment

K'dath Posted September 27, 2013 Share #120 Posted September 27, 2013 Leveling X'chail, I've done all my dungeons with premade groups where I ran heals as an Arcanist and had no problems. What do Conjies have that I don't anyway!? Then I started leveling my pure DPS alt and am sorely lacking for contacts on Gilga, so I queued as DPS. 2 hour wait, at 9am on a Wednesday, for Copperbell Mines. And then the tank left and the healer didn't speak English... Thanks but no thanks, I'll just make some friends instead. How nefarious Square, forcing me to SOCIALIZE on your multiplayer game!
