Looking For Group! RP, dungeons, anything...

Hi! So, I'm new to Balmung. As such, my list of Linkshells is lamentably nigh-empty; i.e. I have my FC's private shell, and pretty much nothing else. Also, my friends list could use some warming up, I've made a few friends already, for which I'm very happy, but we can always use more, right?

 

 

Thus! I would like to invite people to invite me to their LSs and friendlists. We all know how the FFXIV experience is incomplete without random background babble, and there are times of day (like 7-10 am EST, when I get home from my night shifts, before sleeping) when no one's on. And this makes me sad.

 

As such, I was wondering if there were, say, any Looking For RP-type LS's on Balmung. And also, quite importantly.. any Looking for GROUP LS's. Because I'm a Dragoon, and queueing for AK and WP solo is misery. Sure, I've had good groups in the Duty Finder. But the queues are SO LONG. So any kind of resource whereby I could group with non-random people would be wonderful.

 

Also, I'm on the lookout for some Coil action. I've never done it! I've got my +1 relic, AF2 chest, and DL everywhere else. I also consider myself competent vis-a-vis Dragoon dps (studied the fancy rotation info site and everything) and can reliably pull threat like a jerk from tanks when I try, even pretty good ones. I can also NOT pull threat, when it matters, and fail to stand in AoEs.

 

 

So! A Coil group would be nice, but I'm mostly hoping for like, LFG-style LS access or something, for RPers and non, so I can actually group with people at all hours. For reference my play hours are pretty much every day, one slice from 7:15 to 10 or so am, and another from (whenever I wake up, usually 5 or 6) to 9 pm. The 7:15 am and 9 pm times are not negotiable, since that's when I arrive from/leave for work, but otherwise I can vary my sleep. Nights off are Sunday and Thursday, though usually Thursday I won't be home til 10:30 cuz I have other things, and Sunday I usually have a FC meeting from 7 pm until... sometime. But after that, on those nights, Thurs and Sun, I'm on ALL night.

 

I also RP a lot, and want to do so more. Obviously. This isn't just for dungeons :3

I'm going to preface this with a big fat "If you've already looked at the linkshell hall, then you can ignore this, if you haven't looked at the linkshell hall, look at the linkshell hall." with that to the side, i'll recommend the two notables that get a lot of traction with most people. As an note you'll have to contact them, (in most cases.) group leaders assume that prospective members will seek them out. But anyways!

 

http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=1902 "Intermission" while an OOC channel, everyone there is a roleplayer in one way or another. You are unlikely to find a better way to meet the people of Balmung, find out where they are, what they might be up to and all that Jazz.

 

http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=5045 "Balmungs Finest" is a PVE oriented Linkshell dedicated to, like you asked "Balmung dungeoners" placing grouping there above using the duty finder to help OOCly, strengthen ties and make DPS hate the queue a little less. As a note, groups in BF run the gamut from Sastasha to Coil, so until you find a static group for content, this is a great place to check, and even after you do find a static group filling vacancies with reliable people is a nice change over shouting outside wineport.

 

Hope that helps, I could recommend a few more, but the communities are nuanced and it can be best to speak with them individually on their posting or in game to see if it fits you.

Feel free to add Y'lyfriel Sikah in-game, if you like ! The Aethereal Warriors guild has migrated out of the Shroud, southward into Thanalan for the FC's story-arc, so myself and quite a few others are often around that area.

Check out Wings on the link shell front, too. It's mainly an OOC LS, but they do a lot of RP coordination in there, too.
