Classroom-type Roleplaying (Now open for Instructors/Apprentices Sign ups!)

I would love to offer courses in alchemy and/or first aid and field triage with Daphine. It would probably be easiest for me to host something biweekly or by appointment since i tend to get a bit busy in game sometimes. The class itself wouldn't be too involved, just general knowledge in order to get someone stable enough to find a healer or medic and a "how to" use potions in a pinch sort of deal. :-)

I sent the PM before, but I wanted to say that I'd love Ophelia to teach the dancing/musical classes.

As for locations for them, I might discourage the Amphitheater, only because it's a really big hub for new players with the quests going on in there (unless that doesn't bother you guys?).

In Ul'dah there's a small stage-of-sorts in the Golden Bazaar, too.

Well, you are a member of AoW, and we do have a theater of sorts.

In regards to the thread, while it isn't something I could ever commit to full time (and neither could Merri. Too busy adventuring~), I'm sure he'd love mentoring others in everything Magitek when he has the time. Was a bit of a prodigy in his youth, and at this point in his life, Magitek is just an every-day deal for him. He's no Cid Garlond, but Magitek is like a second nature to him.

That being said, he'd probably enjoy instructing a new generation of engineers.

If you think that wouldn't fit the Armorers' Guild (They build ships, so in a way they are engineers), then maybe a Foreign Technology Research faculty? You give it a name, I'll put it up.

I have set up some doodle thingys for the three different guilds, all times are in GMT, and will be going with the most popular time that people select. Unsure if it will be 1 or 2 hour blocks currently.

Magitek Engineering is actually used by Lominsan shipwrights. However, they generally bring in engineers from outside of the guilds (Generally from the Garlond Ironworks) in order to outfit their ships with magitek engines. Engineering wouldn't at all fall under the armorer's guild. If we were to be specific, it'd likely fall under the Garlond Ironworks. Some people seem to think the Ironworks is comprised of just Cid, Biggs, and Wedge, and thus avoid it since it seems like such a select group storyline centric characters. However, it is in fact rather large, and we met quite a handful of random engineers who were a part of the ironworks over the course of the 1.0 storyline. It's absolutely possible to be a part of the Ironworks and have no direct relation to Cid~

Merri did serve as an engineer with the Ironworks for a time prior to the calamity, though he's currently on a hiatus. I could see him picking back up the mantle to help out with instructing fledgling engineers on occasion, though.

Right, I guess what I meant was a name for the faculty itself. Garlond Ironworks is a brand, not a disciple itself. But I guess we can just call it Engineering. I'll add it to the list.

Also, as a side note about the locations for those disciples that have no guild. There is really no reason not to have guilds for them too. If anyone is interested in offering a housing plot (seeing it properly equipped for the specific faculty) as a guild, or related location, be it laboratory, observatorium, library or shop (The Eagle and Quill bookstore in the Mist comes to mind for diligent pupils seeking studying material), feel free to advertise them here for everybody to read!

Gotcha~

I just figured the "guild" that most other disciplines are labeled with would be the Garlond Ironworks for Engineering, much like Naldiq & Vymelil's is the Armorer and Blacksmith's guild.

As far as the name of the trade itself, engineering and/or magitek engineering, mhm. The Ceruleum Processing plant is certainly one option as far as locations go, and I've also been thinking about turning the basement of my house into a workshop of sorts, which could also serve a similar purpose.

Class Name: "Things That Grow -- What The Botany Guild Doesn't Teach".

I am willing to do TWO UNIQUE classes a month, on whichever days and times holds the majority of votes. So please, when checking the schedule, mark ALL days and times that you can attend (and won't be in conflict with another class you are signing up for). When I decide which day we will be gathering (HA! Get it?!) I will do my best to give a full week of notice ahead of time.

I am also willing to do ONE MAKE-UP day per unique class, for anyone who is adamant about attending but it is truly impossible because of their personal schedule. Make-up days will be as catered as possible to these people, but is not restricted to them only (if you attended the regular class but think it would be IC for your character to seek a refresher/have further questions to ask, feel free to attend if your schedule allows).

Please also be aware that, while I will do my utmost to keep every scheduled class, I am on a mobile connection and very likely to be running these classes while on the move (cross-country trucking isn't a 9 to 5 job). This does cause cases where I disconnect when the datapack jumps from tower to tower, and this typically lasts only a minute or two. There may even be rare cases where I'll have to cancel a class because a new load is sending us through an area I know is prone to long or frequent disconnects (Nowhere, Texas... Haven't-seen-another-human-for-three-hours, Montana... Asscrackofnowhere, West Virginia... T2-R5, Maine... entirety of Ohio) . Please bear with me when these happen, and we'll try to reschedule if there's enough interest.

DISCLAIMER ABOUT THIS CLASS:

While I think everyone here is intelligent enough to know better and I shouldn't have to say the following, I should still just cover my butt...

In Real Life, I would call myself a wild foods/wild medicines enthusiast. While I do have the knowledge on how to identify and use various plants, there is no way possible for me to impart this use for Real Life application through the internet. There are so many plants out there that are healthy/tasty/beneficial but have deadly poisonous doppelgangers where the only way to tell the difference between the two is a slight variation of leaf structure, scent when crushed, or soil type that they're growing in. There is also cases where a plant is toxic only to certain people and require testing beforehand to gauge safety, and plants that can become toxic depending on things as simple as where they are growing and the time of year.

There are so many factors involved, that I must STRONGLY STRESS THAT THE INFORMATION THAT I GIVE DURING THE CLASS SHOULD NEVER BE USED IN REAL-LIFE APPLICATIONS unless you have successfully completed a Real Life wild foods/wild medicines/wilderness survival seminar... and even then, don't rely solely on what I've said.

Your character is make believe, and in-game you'll never mistake wild carrots for their poisonous counterparts (or if you do, there'll always be some sovereign specific or a White Mage with Esuna/Raise or Scholar with leeches to fix you). In Real Life, though, that mistake can very quickly cost you your life. So, please, just don't risk it in Real Life.

The exception to this would be anything that I specifically mention to be part of a normal household's produce stores and spice rack. And dandelions... provided  you're not the type to dump fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides all over your lawn.

Hey blue and kiht do you this the wilderness survival could maybe be separate from the lance classes just because some people my be interested in it but aren't lancers (thus including me)

There is a possibility that the survival techniques Kiht knows of depend on the use of the spear, or are someway still LNC-related. However it does not depend to me, it's her chosen disciples, so the answer will ultimately be hers.

I can however see of how every disciple that involves being in the wilderness would give survival suggestions, so I wouldn't worry about missing them just because of what class you belong to.

Also, as I've told to someone via PM, I want to clarify for everyone here: this RP has absolutely no IG requirement. If you want to partcipate to weaving classes but can't unlock weaver yet, you can still do so, and simply RP using tools via /emotes. Sure, these events are a good way to get some classes up, but it is in no way mandatory.

Lastly, someone offered for a First Aid faculty, which seems to be generic and non dependant on classes. You could start by signing up for that one once the schedule is up!

Well ok that sounds satisfying. Oh tbh I was wondering who is in charge of the conjures classes?

AS much as I'd like to teach Wilderness survival and Lancer skills separately, I don't have time for that. Also, the skills she teaches in Wilderness survival will mostly be centered around Lance-users.

However, Archers, Conjurers and Botanists would also need to learn wilderness survival, so that might be incorporated into those classes as well, I would think.

Regardless, I do have one condition for my lessons. As much as I understand putting no IG requirements for the lessons, I must disagree partially when it comes to my lessons.

We will be doing field exercises down the line, and I do not want to pretend someone is using a lance when they are doing tests. IF you have the ability to unlock the Lancer class, you should do so, and be at least a lvl 1 Lancer. If you do not yet have the ability to unlock the Lancer class because your character is uber new, I will make an exception on the the promise that you plan to unlock the Lancer class in the near future. You will never have to level the lancer class if you don't want to. You can be a lvl 1 Lancer forever for all I care.

I make this requirement because I do not want anything like a lvl 50 Warrior in AF Armor walking up to the lesson saying "Pretend I have a wicked-cool Lance!". Sorry, nope.

If the unwillingness to be the Lancer class during the lessons has to do with limited outfit options, then I am fine with people being any class and wearing any "reasonable" outfit during lectures and demonstrations. But, once training, exercises and tests start, put on your Lancer gear.

Anyone who needs help leveling enough to unlock the Lancer class, ask me. I won't hesitate to help when I have time.

It seems Nako has offered to cover the Disciples of Magic, though of course there is no limit of how many instructors we can have. Keep an eye on the opening post, because I'll keep it updated with names and dates at the best of my possibilities.

Ryllyn is an alchemagical engineer I suppose is what she may be called. She deals with mammets. So while not quite being magitek it's something similar. She can teach from basic metal working to the more advanced applications of her own craft. Being known as a general supply and wares crafter she'd love the opportunity to do more work with her true passion. I suppose if you guys would be interested you could contact me in game, Ryllyn Teyuun, since I don't often think to check here @@

My character has been stuck (pretty much since launch) and I last left him studying to be a conjurer and failing.  I signed him up for that class.  This is exciting and something I have been hoping for since launch.

Khior'a is also a plant gatherer with botany, unfortunately I am at work IRL during all of the posted time or I would join (curse of living PST).

Battlefield First Response Training” presented by chirurgeon and physicker Daphine Rysen.

This class will be held at (( to be announced : Doodle: Yes or tentative yeses, all times that apply)) in (( likely outside of Limsa or Ul’dah, if not in the cities themselves.)).

This class will cover subjects such as field triage, alchemical aids and mending techniques to ensure the best possible outcome for an injured ally that is outside the immediate reach of a healer or medic. Supplies will be provided for practice purposes if they are so desired.

Our tentative topics of discussion for now are:

  • Triage:Know when to say wait.
  • Potions: Something for every ailment.
  • Under Pressure: A guide to stopping the flow of blood.
  • Stabilize:  Setting and immobilizing limbs.
  • Shock: Dealing with trauma.

Other discussion topics may be included or removed as needed. If there is something specific you would like to go over, please see me and I’d be happy to work with you.

While I can offer some advice into healing via the Arcanum, this class will not be touching on those techniques.

This class is recommended for all ability levels.

OOC giblets:

Unless there is a large demand, I think this class will be offered twice a month. I’d be willing to work one-one with characters as needed if they’re looking for a mentor on the road to developing a more traditional doctor/medic/surgeon versus a straight up healer.

A little disclaimer:

The information that will be presented will be largely adapted from techniques used in real life. The only ties I hold to the medical profession are ten years of first aid and CPR certification, a paramedic/cop father, a love for medical textbooks, Google, Untold Stories of the ER and lotsa RP!

In other words: I am not a doctor, I just play one on TV.  8-)

Though I encourage everyone to certify in first aid and CPR…you could save a life.

Just want to remind the instructors that some of their chosen (and pending dates) are approaching. When you feel ready for it, please write down the ultimate chosen day for your first class.
