Your Character's Weapons/Artifacts and How They Acquired Them

Anelia's Artifact Weapons:

Gabarel + Samrael:

Crafted from a very rare material known as Orichalcum. There were three materials left to Sadowyn family secretly by Anelia's father. Underneath the Sadowyn chambers in a perished town, the chamber was only recognized to Anelia when she revisited the place. There she found the three large ores that she was able to craft into her own personal weapons. Gabarel, the sword of justice and righteousness gleaming with blue gem while Samrael, the sword of honorable death was gleaming with red gem. These two swords are hard to break, and cannot be shattered or melted down easily.

((Adaptation: Gabarel is referred to Gabriel, the angel of justice, and Samrael is Samael, the angel of death))

Metalon:

Shield crafted from the third Orichalcum. The gem is gleaming with yellow in the center. It is used when Anelia does not use Samrael. The shield holds Samrael behind it, and it shapes into arm shield when Samrael is drawn.

((Adaptation: Metalon is referred to Metatron, the angel of guardians))

Niklas's blessed sword, the Tyrfing, was found by him in a Coerthan cave when he fell down a mountain into a cave as a teen. He found it along with his shield, Aegis, which was also blessed. When he touched them, they became bound to him and his aether, and anyone who would try to touch them would get hurt by the aether in the sword and shield.

Nat has a sword. It's made of metal and it's sharp. She's had it a long time, her mentor gave it to her, but as far as she knows there is nothing special about it.

Nat's sultansworn armor was a hand-me-down from her mentor as well, it's part of the reason she rarely wears it. Nat has never really felt she lives up to the woman who wore it before her.

Titor's weapon is his book, he particularly dislikes the term "grimoire" so instead either refers to it as his book or his scientific journal.

It started out completely blank, and he copied or engineered various aetheric geometries into the book over the years, writing down the shapes with utmost care with aetherically conductive ink.

On a few of the pages are various notes, theories, or scratch work written in non-conductive ink to not interfere with the geometries.

It starts out with basic geometries (templates) and moves into more complex and experimental geometries. Since he wrote everything himself, keeps it with him at all times, and knows the book inside an out, he can find a particular page very, very quickly.

Almost all of the geometries are for healing usage, or pacification through non-harmful means. The amount of damaging geometries in the book are few (not a pacifist by any means, but very dedicated to the art of doctoring)

He will often infuse it with a water-resistance substance if he is going out in wet conditions.

Titor also has the ability to free-draw geometries, a higher form of aetheric engineering that allows him to draw up geometries without referring to a geometric template. However, free-drawing is less accurate and sometimes less powerful than materializing a geometry through a template, so he still uses the book for important tasks.

His clothing is just normal scientists attire, or a military uniform (I use the sch af chest as his military uniform, though he works with the flames, I always felt the GC armor is pretty ridiculous).

He does own a few large Allagan artifacts, purchased through legitimate means, however those are not on his person clearly (they are large) and are only for scientific study.

Saefinn sports 2 Grimoires. One, he managed to successfully steal from Nymian ruins, granted, he did end up a little lacerated...but he got better. Trying to get between a Tonberry King and a valuable treasure was dumb. He'd like to say that the Tonberry ended up worse off...Saefinn just ended up half dead and bleeding out, his faerie trying keep him alive and begging his crew to come save him. His crew was angry, but he argues that it was worth it.

His second Grimoire is a rare artifact he managed to pay a good some of money for. However, this weapon is special. He was crazy and thought taking on a Voidsent would help him save somebody he cared about. Said Voidsent has now been bound to his Grimoire. He hasn't quite understood the effects the Voidsent has on his Grimoire, he hasn't risked extensive testing. Though he has used it and the Voidsent has managed to have some influence to his power.

X'hayu on the other hand? Her blade comes with her title as Sultansworn. Nothing all that interesting. She became a Sultansworn through good deeds and selflessness, though her true motives are not in loyalty to the Sultana.

I'm going to feel bad about a couple of these, BUT. HERE GOES NOTHING.

Thyrus

Yep, she owns that thing. She earned it, fair and square, by undergoing the rigorous trials during 1.0 that set her square in her place as a White Mage. When she was reunited with it after so long from being apart with it, Lily decided to have it undergo a few changes by extracting the soul energy within it, thereby "zenithing" it. The poor beaut has been showing some signs of fatigue from repeated, heavy use throughout the years...she's starting to think that perhaps a few new changes are in order.

Her massive book collection. (Read: Almost every book equippable by a Scholar)

Lily's a damn bookworm, don't let anyone tell you differently! Her collection is constantly growing and she somehow always, always has two or three tomes on her person, from normal field notes to shiny, arcane scriptures. Mostly the scriptures, because attempting to recite something written in tongues in the middle of battle proves quite humorous for her. Probably not for everyone else, though.

Astrolabe.

As a Blac--Thaumaturge (She's totally a Black Mage, SHUT UP OKAY), she helped design bits and pieces of the Astrolabe to mimic the Observatorium's massive astroscope, and had an artisan bring her vision to life. Granted, it cost her a hefty sum of gil, but she did not seem to mind, as whatever the artisan did with her weapon, it seems to channel and empower her thaumaturgy quite nicely.

Mailbreaker. (Currently shattered)

The Mailbreaker was a gift from someone, their own personal sword. Lily found it to be perfect for her; she wielded it in battle alongside this person for many a time until...well...certain events transpired, that Lily doesn't care to talk about openly. Even afterwards, she still wielded the weapon, though she was much tougher on it; her carelessness caused it to shatter during her (personal story arc's) fight with Gaius and the Ultima Weapon, and now she carries the shards with her in the hopes that she can one day recreate the blade to be stronger than before.

I believe these are the only important ones!

Her claws: Lili is primarily a pugilist/hand-to-hand combat specialist. She fights with some claws that were shaped into the form of Garuda's talons. They've also been imbued with feathers from the primal herself, and if Lili uses the right combination of movements and speed she can call forth a gust of wind to knock back her opponent. It's unknown exactly how she got them, and when prompted she only ever answers with 'a friend'.

Her mammet: Occasionally she's followed by a little mammet. It was a gift from her son to her a few years ago for her birthday. When not following her, it's usually idling in her kitchen.

Her armor: Lili wears a unique armor set that's a mixture of plate and leather, blended together to provide her as much of a balance between protection and flexibility as possible. She had it commissioned by a miqo'te named Fredja'a, who also happens to be a male escort that Lili met years prior. Even after she stopped being his client, the two have stayed in touch and he was more then happy to make Lili some armor to replace what she had been using (which was falling apart from wear and tear).

Askier's magitek arm: this is the only gadget worth mentioning because the rest of his weapons are grenades.  Askirr's left arm is metal from the shoulder down. While he has difficulty manipulating the limb without looking at it because it feels nothing, the arm has to little surprises. It can act like a vice and not let go and, Askier has installed a six chamber revolver into the arm itself.

Atrium's 'Kindness': Atrium's weapon is an axe she picked up off a dead caravan guard she killed.  At the time it was nothing special but she has slowly been modifying the weapon, improving the steal and haft to make it a more effective killing tool.  She has named the weapon 'Kindness'.

I've been a little on the fence about letting Jajara's Glanzfaust being an IC thing so I'm probably going to glamour them back into a good ol' pair of tortoiseshell cesti. She and her family have a great respect for Adamantoise that borders on reverence - such hardy animals, weathering their way through the ages! So she has a pair to sort of honor that spirit, and also because they look hella swag. (Mostly the former, though.)

She also was of the habit of crafting her own axes as her skill with them improves, but currently wields one issued by the Flames.

Delial's... a little more complicated in that. There's a little story I have been trying to get rolling to have her find hunt down and secure a grimoire that a central figure in her younger life held. In the mean time she keeps a plain-looking tome and a set of blades (both of which were given to her by others) that aren't too special at all.
