Hope you didn't hurt it too bad. Take good care of it either way!

My weekend availability is generally... non-existent. It's when I visit friends (or have them visit) for pen & paper RP orr board games or miniature wargames or... you get the picture. One of us is only available on Saturday nights so...

You've just convinced me to level all DoH classes to 15. o_O

I dunno... Cat ears tend to be very triangular and upward pointing. Miqo'te ears are far more elongated, angle almost straight out from the skull. They actually remind me more of fennec fox ears. Not a perfect match, but closer than actual cat ears for sure. You have a point there... Besides, Miqo'te aren't really catgirls. Pretty feline of course but Seekers are more lion-likes and Seekers kinda remind me of wolves. Not in their looks but in their.. cultures, I guess. That's a whole other discussion though. o_O

Condition, whatever it is , only lasts for one single action. If you get Excellent and have the Durability to spare, you damn better touch up and raise that Quality through the roof! If it's Good, it's probably a good idea to do that too. (unless you have Great Strides, since it doubles the increase.. Good doesn't seem to double it, I think it's more of a 25% bonus thing...) If it's Poor... either Observe or Careful Synth or use a buff for your next move. Example... Weaver 11 making Hempen Yarn (because HQ mats give better chances of HQ products!) Knowing a single Basic Synth will complete the process... Knowing I hav e 40 Durability and that Synth will use up 10... I have 30 to spare on Touches. 1- Inner Quiet (to have better quality increases every time) 2- Steady Hand (to ensure success!) 3- Basic Touch (Dur 30/40) 4- Basic Touch (Dur 20/40) 5- Basic Touch (Dur 10/40) 6- Basic Synth (Dur 0/40, but complete!) Later on you get cool things like Great Strides (doubles next Touch efficiency) or Waste not (Next 4 actions cost 5 Durablity instead of 10) so you get to toy around with those too. As a Weaver, I use Great Strides before every Touch (gotta have those +CP jewelries though!) but another possibility is to use a Mend to restore that Durability and do some more stuff (again, be sure to have those +CP jewelries! They start at level 15-18 depending on the exact piece)

Please don't bring Legacy into this... We all know a lot of people rushed to 50 within one or two weeks on brand new servers and since then only accepted to do runs with unber-geared people who knew all the fight son the back of their hands. This is why I don't do engame in most mmo's. I'm all about the journey. That said, I thought Balmung's Finest is what this is about? Forming groups to run content without that annoying elitism?

DAISHI, don't push your views on me and call me an introvert when I'm simply sharing mine openly. I'm not calling you or anyone unrealistic, I'm speaking my own personal mind. That also goes for anyone else being judgmental here. Way to promote an open community, guys. This kind of attitude, my own personal views aside, is part of why I left the RPC and open RP in general back then. But it's cool, I don't really want to RP with judgmental smartasses... Moving on... Is it unrealistic to have two people talk nearby and not hear them? Yes, it can be, if you specifically pay attention to them... but why would you? Think of the real world. How often are people chatting among themselves right next to you and you don't hear them? All the time. For example... - There are people talking everywhere around and it's hard to focus on just one conversation even if you wanted to. - It's a crowded area and you're not specifically paying attention. - They are whispering or simply speaking low. And most important of all... why would you pay attention to what two people are saying ICly? OOC, you see people RPing, you know they're RPers, you want in... a bit of meta and you join their conversation... Cool! Now you're RPing too. But isn't it strange? Now, I'm perfectly fine with public RP, I certainly don't mind that people do it (I welcome it, in fact), but I wanted to point out that I have, y'know, actual reasons to think what I think other than oh-noes-I'm-shy-and-introvert. Also, enthusiasm is cool but sometimes it just... completely breaks whatever is going on. Lastly, realism is indeed subjective to the setting. In this setting Chocobos, magic, monsters and airship are commonplace and normal. Perspective! Keep in mind, while I have played tons of MMO's over the years and RPed in most of them, I do come from a pen & paper background and am used to small, controlled, RP situations. It's what I enjoy.

Nuuuuu tonight is my LARPing night!

I think they're more like sideways... Probably for better all-around and less forward-focused hearing? They're still cat ears, though! But I swear that cat's looking at me saying YOU'RE DOING WRONG!

I just want to say that Paprika Rika is an awesome name and I like paprika. Also, welcome to having 4 characters! (well, technically I got 5, but Vaneloppe Loppe is more of a Wreck-it Ralph reference than anything serious, for now...)

Main reason I RP in Party chat is this: in real life, when I'm in public areas, chatting with a friend or even multiple friends, I have never ever had a random stranger just jump into the conversation. I have done so myself only once in my entire life. The difference is hobby stores, but you just have to expect random conversations between hobbyists in their natural environment. I understand wanting to be inclusive and inviting to other RPers but it's just unrealistic that people would jump into strangers' conversations, and RPers seem to do that all the time. It's an admittedly very mild case of metagaming (realistically, the people talking in the street wouldn't stand out at all) but it still bugs me. In the case of social events, of course we want to be inclusive and do everything publicly but most of the time, it just doesn't make sense for me to do so. Unless my character is being particularly loud or something.

I'm a bit late but just noticed the edit in the first post... If someone attacks me personally? /blacklist. End of story. I'm not going to waste time on someone who decided they hate me. The only exception is if I thought of them as a good friend, then I'd want at least clarification... and maybe resolution. IF their reasons aren't completely messed up. In my years of cyber-interactions, I've ignored/blacklisted/what-have-you more people than I befriended. Part of life I guess, even more so online.

It usually takes me half an hour to queue as DPS in eastern time evening. Protip: convince a healer or tank friend to queue with you. It significantly shortens the wait. I also usually ask around my LS's or FC if anyone wants to join. Since we all suffer this at one point or another, people have been pretty nice with helping, especially if it's for story-advancing purposes.

Agata Blysstahlwyn is from one of those pirates-turned-fishermen families, though her mother was a very active pirate is her own younger days and settled down only when she got pregnant. Agata grew up with stories of wild adventures on the sea but she's never set foot on a boat herself, finding fishing too boring. Instead, she went to Ul'dah for a life of fighting, glory-seeking and drinking. One day, the sea will surely call to her, though... After all she's a Sea Wolf.

Might want to be a bit more specific in what you seek. ^^ If you're just looking for RPers in general, they're all around you!

Well, I'm usually very wary of RP combat, but I engage in it with people I feel I can trust, and it can be real fun, so here we go... Character: Agata Blysstahlwyn Primary Weapon(s): Her body Class-equivalent: Pugilist/Monk Style: Agata has not "learned" martial arts as much as she grew up brawling and tumbling with other pirates-turned-fishermen. As a result, Her fighting styles has developed from street fighting and backyard wrestling, with actual martial arts techniques thrown in as she learns them. Since moving to Ul'dah in the recent months, she has started to learn more technical moves, apparent to kung fu, and since discovering the joys of Ul'dahn bars (and tavern brawls), she has started to develop something akin to drunken boxing. Offense/Defense/Versatile: Offense Strengths: Based on.. well, nothing specific, her fighting style tends to surprise opponents, as they never really know what to expect at first. On top of that, Agata loves fighting and has done it for most of her life, resulting in plenty of strength, agility and endurance. Weaknesses: The downside of being self-taught is Agata completely lacks discipline, and her combat style, while wild, powerful, and unpredictable, can be countered easily if one has the wits to go on the defensive and wait for her to make a mistake. She will make one. Or two. Or a half-dozen. The only problem is to to weather the storm. In other words, her weakness is between the ears. Summary: Put her on the defensive and at first she'll just take it and give back, as for her fighting is all about giving and receiving. You better be able to take what she gives. Let her go first and she'll happily oblige. She won't tire herself out easily, but she'll make mistakes. Extra: Like a drunken boxer, the more she drinks (up to a limit), the stronger, tougher and unpredictable she gets. Nothing mystical here, a good drink will not only turn off one's inhibitions socially, it will also turn off that switch that makes us careful. Drunk, Agata has more fun, feels less pain, and is less worried about hurting herself... but she's also dumber. ************************************************************************** Character: Helena Duval Primary Weapon(s): Axe, sword, fists, what have you Class-equivalent: All of them Style: Tactical. Helena isn't particularly strong or tough, or agile... But she's smart. She dutifully respects the rule that states that every move in combat should give you an advantage or eliminate a disadvantage and acts accordingly. Offense/Defense/Versatile: Versatile. Very versatile. Strengths: Helena's body might be subpar for a fighter and in truth magic is her area of expertise, but her mind has a good grasp of strategy and tactics, both on a large and personal scale. She might not be fast enough to dodge that attack, but she's determined where, when and how it will come a split second before you launched it. She knows how to read her opponents and how to position herself and use her weapons to optimize her chances to win. Weaknesses: If she does get hit, it will hurt. When she does hit, it might not hurt as much as if it was someone more akin to fighting... but at least she knows where and how to hit. More importantly, no matter how smart she can be, no level of I.Q. can truly compensate for endurance and she's sure to lose in extended fights as exhaustion takes it toll. Summary: She's good-looking, but that's the extent of her physical advantages. Beware those pretty eyes, however. Behind them (and her glasses) hides a mind that has already thought of a dozen ways to engage hostilities or react to an attack. Extra: If magic is allowed in whatever physical combat or duel she participates in, run. With curative magic, she can compensate for her physical frailties. That said, she is an honorable young woman and only fights when necessary (note: training IS a necessity in this day and age). ************************************************************************** Character: Azyria Ziada, aka Blue Moon Primary Weapon(s): Spear Class-equivalent: Lancer/Dragoon Style: .. I don't honestly know of any spear-based fighting style. If you do, feel free to make suggestions. Offense/Defense/Versatile: Versatile Strengths: Speed, agility and reach are the words here. Never in one place, Azyria uses her strong Miqo'te legs to move quickly around the battlefield, catching opponents off-guard, from the sides, rear or even above. Even in cramped spaces where she cant move easily, she still has the length of her spear on her side. Used to fighting in the streets of Ul'dah against multiple opponents, she's used to taking advantage of her environment and fighting multiple opponents at once, or to isolate them to fight one on one. Weaknesses: A duel on a featureless and level field would leave her baffled at the lack of options. She is also used to quick hit and runs and fast, short fights. She won't tire so easily but will inevitably make mistakes in a long battle, as she will be growing impatient and seeking ways to end it. Summary: Fast, powerful strikes from any direction is what you can expect from the masked spear-wielding vigilante of Ul'dah. She is used to fighting criminals, greedy brass blades, and sometimes monsters. Extra: Azyria is a 1.0 character who was not at Carteneau... which means she's been doing this for five years! She's been particularly active when refugees started pouring into Ul'dah and the greedy and corrupt sought to profit from them. She is an exception to my taking level into account in RP fights... Rushing to level 50 is will not help against 5+ years IC experience. Those who fought at Carteanu however could very well be her betters, despite the time warp. After all, Azyria has never fought in such epic battle. **************************************************************************** All of those are on Balmung. My character on Gilgamesh is a pure spellcaster and is therefore wimp.

The best kind of locket. I want one. o_o

People love rule 63, I wouldn't worry about it. Rule 63, not to be confused with Rule 36, states that every fictional character has an opposite-gender counterpart.

OMG those tiny wittle snakes are so cute! And one is named Castiel... hehehehe, that used to be Kylin's name.

Miqo'te aka catgirls aka nekomimi, and what they refer to in Japanese culture, according to wikipedia (and frankly quite spot on, as far as I know)... A catgirl is a female character with cat traits, such as cat ears, a cat tail, or other feline characteristics on an otherwise human body. Catgirls are found in various fiction genres and in particular Japanese anime and manga, where they are more commonly referred to as neko (猫, literally cat) or nekomimi (猫耳, literally cat ear(s)). Catgirls typically display cat-like behaviors, exhibiting traits such as playfulness, mischievousness and deviousness. Sometimes this may include cat gestures or sounds in written or verbal communications. An often used running gag is that catgirls habitually end their lines of speech with the phrase (にゃあ?) nyā, the Japanese onomatopoeia for a cat's meow. In anime and manga regular humans will sometimes sprout cat ears or a tail in order to illustrate their excitable or playful personalities. This is similar to the phenomenon of becoming chibi. Additionally characters may be portrayed with a catlike mouth to emphasize mischievous thoughts or comments by a character. In short... not furry! 'Cause furry is straight up anthropomorphic. *The more you know... nya! =^.^=

For cheap clothes of all kinds, there's always those cast-off clothes stores (fripperie in French... maybe frippery in English too? I dunno). You can be surprised by what can be found in those places at times and it's always cheap.

I agree. There isn't enough Miqo'te. Also, Dat cook. O_O

Yeah, we know. It's all because for RPers a character is more than just an avatar in the game world, it's a creation we use to channel our creativity and share an interactive storytelling experience! It's like going Christian Bale if Christian Bale also wrote his own character on top of playing him. o_O

That's a nice idea! However, I'd like to add that the only true answer to "where is the RP" when keeping open RP in mind is "wherever you make it happen". That's the point of it all. There is no set place for it, open RP is something you just start or happen upon. In this case, making it happen in the C&C is cool. Also I believe taking consideration of the NPC's established in the area would be better than replacing them outright. The Coffer & Coffin already has a proprietor and barkeep... Instead of claiming to replace him, I suggest enhance his position and recognize the environment by working for him! There is after all a quest where we're asked to help taking orders. Maybe he hired permanent help (subsequently justified by the RPers who will be swarming there). @Siobhain Where you in that guild with all the awesome Star Warsy drinks? I know those guys got a lot of grief and I never understood why, I thought it was cool and had a lot of thought put into it... Haters gonna hate.
