Oh.. my... Twelve! It's Roleplayception! Reminds me The Secret World, when I suggested our characters have a D&D group... My Illuminati was a Wizard. Ahem. I have one character who might be into that... seeing as she tries everything once... but if it's a FC I can't. I'll definitely want to be part of the audience at least!

Been playing it all Weekend! To be honest, it's kinda boring...

I've been trying to log in since Friday morning (excluding only Saturday night cause I was busy larping) It's the long weekend in USA and Canada (Labor Day) so it's no surprise. Maintenance is Wednesday and by then they should have more servers were people (hopefully non-Rpers) can run off to.

There are no "costumes" in this game, if by "costume" you mean cosmetic outfit to show off over your gear. What the Armory system is, is simply an easy way to switch all your gear at once instead of one by one. You still show your actual equipment. That being said, around lvl 15, you get a quest to unlock the Dye system, which can help improve the looks of your gear. To be honest, it's kinda uncool that I have yet to see prettier gear than the starting clothes... aside from the endgame job armors.

Okay so they're not making any world bigger, they're just making new ones... Here's to hoping a significant portion of non-RPers flee those we play on.

I'm happy with my Azy portraits, but I have alts characters to submit to whoever feels like trying their hand at them! You can see screenshot-portraits of them in their respective wiki's (linked in my sig), along with personality descriptions etc. Have fun!

I don't really know the guy, or his work, but I've seen Mononoke, and it was good enough to be shown on Quebec television, which is friggin rare for anime movies. Only two I can think of before that were Cowboy Bebop and Macross Plus (also awesome movies). Mononoke definitely marked me and defined how much more than silly villain-of-the-week types anime could really be. Between this and Wolf's Rain, I can only shake my head smiling at the ignorance of people who think anime is limited to Naruto and Dragon Ball styles.

It's certainly all right to ask. ^^ For the first time today though, I've seen the lobby unable to load Japanese server list. I guess they're having problems too, perhaps due to americeuropeans overflowing them. It's also the first time I'm getting a 1017 past midnight eastern. o_O I can only hope that when they said they'd improve their servers, they meant something big, or we'll start having trouble again not too long after they resume digital sales.

200 character limit for mail? Ha! Back in MY days, we didn't even have half that for CHATTING! And we had to do it uphill in the snow! /grumpyold off I'm not even kidding either... aside for the last part. Still, I'm surprised they didn't think about more mail room with the above-mentioned chat limit having been a problem before. It made sense in japan (EDIT) because of reasons mentioned above while I was typing the exact same thing. But yeah.. they had to go through this before so why did they end up repeating the same mistake?

Let's not get into conspiracy theories... Crashing at peak hours is normal. It's why they do stress tests and it's why they lock servers. Sometimes people will crash anyway.

In every MMORPG I played (and that's a lot) people have advertised their guilds in the General channel a lot, especially around launch. Now we don't have a General channel but Shout seems to pretty much fill that role.... though to be honest, Intermission and Coalition OOC very much feel like General channels too, aside from that. I think it's only rude if it's spammed every1 or 2 minutes something.

And that is why I'm a playing Miqo'te! Besides, I had a blue-haired one before it was cool. 8-) Also while I love the Summoner endgame outfit, I want to play a Scholar more... T_T But I'll probably end up doing both. Eventually.

So, I didn't read the whole thread because there's a lot in there... but I'll just leave my opinion here. First thing is... the whole I Am The One is straight out. It's arrogant and disrespectful, among hundreds of RPers, to say "I'm the one, I'm the hero, you guys are supporting cast for My story." Good way to alienate a community. Of course, one can do it privately with a few friends, pretending to be The Hero Party (the one we've seen in the videos) but that's not something to share with the whole community. I think everyone agrees on this. However, I tend to view my character's progression in the game, as an indicator of their IC progression, in some ways. Take my character Jeanette, for example. She started our as a thaumaturge and a weaver apprentice, but as reached a point where she mingles with a higher class of Ul'dan citizens (good for business!). This mirrors the fact that in-game I've been through... the level 15 story quest and events. You'll never hear say she's done those things... but for me it mirrors her IC rise in society through her actions... without going into specifics. So instead of saying things like "I single-handedly saved that village" (something that happens in game.. to everyone... through story quests) you can say "I was instrumental in saving that caravan" (something that doesn't happen in-game and can happen a lot more than once). Not only does this not rob others of having their own heroic deeds, it also follows a certain sense of accomplishment that more or less fits the in-game progression, which I kinda like (I'm not one to play a purely non-adventurer type in a RPG). Lastly, think of large-scale events like the Battle of Carteneau. That was a LOT of people in there. Enough for every Legacy character to say "I was there". If they'd remember, that is! But anything that would mobilize a whole Grand Company or something, I think it's fair for a character to say "I was there, I participated in this" as long is it doesn't go into the realms of "I killed the big evil."

Mine has been crashing when minimizing ever since the latest patch. BNefore that it never happened! You can play in windowed mode and do it without any troubles though.

Nothing makes any sense as a second class for Black Mage, from a Lore point of view... but they had to put something there. T_T Archer is the only class I'm leveling purely OOC so far.

I never liked pokemons. Like, at all. I just make fun of the "a wild X appears" which I originally thought was a Dragon Warrior thing (A wild Slime appears! Fight? Run?) I play Arcanist because Summoners and Scholars seem to be awesome. I always liked Summoners in FF games, I love the fact they have that same endgame look as FF Tactics ones and Scholars are cool too.

It's not that people get mad, it's just that they look down on it and mock people who do it. Back in the days, jocks mocked geeks, now everyone is a geek and some video game geeks who don't RP like to troll their RPing peers.
