  1. The thing with villains being supposed to lose is... it's not always true. Far from it. As far as I'm concerned, you have 3 types of villains. 1- The Villain Of The Day/Week. That's the guy who shows up to do evil deeds and gets foiled by the heroes in one or two ecnounters. Fun to RP now and then I guess, but you're going to lose for sure. Example: Watch Sailor Moon. >.> 2- The Villain Who Always Gets Foiled... For Now. That guy is similar to the Villain Of The Day/Week, except... he's not just there once to be defeated. No. He's the guy who loses the battle, but not the war. He always comes back with a "better" plan that somehow gets foiled again Could be fun too, I guess... but those tend to be more of a campy enemy. Example: Watch Inspector Gadget or He Man or whatever (I did say campy) 3- The Villain Who's Just Too Damn Good To Bother Killing You. He's the real deal. You'll foil his plans and he'll be like meh... I'll deal with you another time. Or... meh, I'll leave you to my minions. Fighting them before the end of the movie/serie/game/whatever would just be suicide... or humiliating defeat that drives you to improve yourself. This type of villain has the most potential for RP, I think. Ironically, he's rarely ever played because everyone else thinks the person is powergaming even if that's the whole point. Example: Your favorite villain, most likely (unless he's a type 2 ) Alternating 2 and 3 could be done too. Sometimes the villains has the upper hand because of his MacGuffin of Doom but sometimes the heroes catch him off-guard or saw through his dastardly plans and came prepared. Also! Another villain type to think about is the Turncloak. And there's two types of them, of course. 1- The Good Going Evil. That's the hero who suffered so much that the only way he can deal with it is to blacken his heart and either join the enemy or go evil on his own. Either way, he'll turn against his previous ally. Or it could be that his goals simply conflict with his previous allies' after a certain event. Or he could be seduced by the enemy. Or mind-controlled. Or anything. 2- The Evil Turning Good. This can happen in pretty much the same way as the first type, except reverse. The heroes have shown honor and mercy to him despite all he's done (helps if he had been raised believing the 'enemy' had no such concepts as honor and mercy and so he now sees the truth). Or he finds that to achieve his own goal, he must join forces with the heroes (If one Evil who wishes to rule the world works for or with one who wants to destroy it but never said so... and the former finds out.. well, he'll want to take him out. can't rule what's been destroyed). Or he could fall in love with the hero (Ohh myyy). Or whatever.
  2. My Roe will probly be swearing. I'll be lookin for these Eorzea-flavored expressions from the NPC's for sure and I will probably make up some of my own as well. Same goes for insults. I can imagine my character from Limsa calling someone a "dodo brain" considering they're native to La Noscea and are pretty derpy.
  3. I have a few RPer friends who like mmorpg's in general who don't have the game, I'll ask them if they're interested. ^^
  4. While I also doubt server transfers will be free, it's not unheard of in MMOs to have free transfers. Rift has always done it that way: you get one free server transfer per week per character. Ooohhhh you're right.. they didn't always allow transfers but the moment they did, it was free once a week, yes!
  5. Hey I'm more or less in the same boat. Rusty at RPing with many people as I've been playing with only close friends if at all for the past few years. Joining Linkshells definitely help though, I can tell you that. I'm already expanding my circle to a scary degree... but once I get used to it, I'll expand it even more! I do have one character on Gilgamesh (as you can see in my sig) so feel free to look me up in there. I'll probly be busy crafting like mad for the first few days, though.
  6. *stares* . . . Wooooaaaaaahhh.
  7. Oh Myyyy! There goes Koyu. Ahem! Yeah... well... if Haru really is a feisty drunk and goes pugilist... he and my feisty drunk pugilist ROEGADYN should totally hang out. That said, crafting can be a matter of working with your hands (carpentry, weapons, armors) or it could be delicate work (weaving, alchemy, goldsmithing) which is quite appropriate for finger-wiggling spellcasters. Now if you want to do ALL of those AND fighting... well... that will be a lot of work! But I don't see why you couldn't do it as a spellcaster of you want. P.S. Pint-Sized Powerhouse
  8. Only thing I know for sure is transfers from Legacy servers will take some time (but that doesn't concern you). Also, I doubt transfers will be free. Only time I've ever seen free server transfers was to let people from an overpopulated server go to new ones, not the other way around.
  9. Music always works for me. Just have to find the right track for what I want to write. Sometimes I even get surprised and overwhelmed with new ideas and it's like the characters I'm writing about gets inspired by the music themselves and start doing stuff on their own in my head and I'm like "wait wait slow down I gotta type all of this you know!"
  10. Try getting in touch with Squeenix, tell em GameStops are being 'tards as usual. ^^; Hmm.. Did you pre-order from website? Did you call them? Or was it all done in person? If you went to a store in person to pre-order, go there in person again, with the gamebox, hopefully get the same guy who did the pre-order for you so they now you really did pre-order and you're not just trying to get a code. The whole "we can't print codes anymore" might just be their default answer to anyone asking for one.
  11. *gives hugs* Do you still have any proof of the pre-order transaction? If so you could maybe manage to get a new code?
  12. I'm starting to think I'm the only non-european in my Gilgamesh LS. ^^;
  13. There's not much reason to have an EU server, really. The data centers for both EU and US servers are all in Montreal. It's the only place FF XIV has data servers outside of Japan (and back in 1.0 they only had Japan). You will have the exact same connection on Moogle as you'd have anywhere else. That's the reason why servers are split between Japan and US/EU rather than Japan, US and EU, separately in server selection. The only reason to go to a EU-labelled server would be to have more chances to find people in the same timezone... but even that is highly questionable as people in every timezone often have conflicting schedules. I mean most of my Silver Anvil fellows seem to be EU and we seem to play around the same times anyway. o_O
  14. Hastloefwyn... ... Hasselhoff win? We got a bit of Roe Lore in the wiki but other than that, I can't answer any of this. ^^;
  15. Jeanette Lenoire will need one of those.. I totallt forgot during beta. O_O
  16. Ya know, it just occured to me Roe's might also be less popular because of those friggin names. ^^;
  17. Yes, crossbows too. Muskets, crossbows and whips. Black powder firearms and crossbows and my favorite weapons IRL. And whip.. well, in one word: Rydia.
  18. 1.0 people don't have to go through that right? Cause.. I haven't got any code of any sort. I hope I'm not supposed to?
  19. For me the name of the class isn't as important as the weapon used... I want friggin flintlocks and whips, dammit! Not for the same class obviously. But those musketeers have been teasing me with their muskets since 1.0. Seeing my very first character holding a flintlock pistol has given me something to hope for that has yet to be delivered! As for whips... summoners should REALLY have those. Not books. o_o
  20. I just hope they do it soon if they really are gonna do it and not do like the Musketeer crap from 1.0. Starting in Limsa had you involved with the Musketeer guild RIGHT AWAY in the story and yet after all this time it's still not a class...
  21. Yay more trials! I've done some exploring myself, except I was trying to go to Gridania from Ul'dah... and I ended up in the middle of some lvl 49 Magitek Badass Thingies of Doom. o_O And Costa Del Sol looks pretty!
