I guess the idea of a harp hurting people with magical notes floating in their face (FF IV) or even directed sound vibrations (Ff Tactics) is a bit weird... Not that a harp/bow hybrid is less weird, but at least it's also kinda cool? o_O Also, can't argue with the passionate power of Rock! IV has a PSP version? I thought it only had SNES, PSone and DX.

Try the PSP version of FF Tactics! It's the same game with all translation mistakes fix, thy olde English added in, and extra hidden characters and jobs (Black Knight is op, btw)

The whole study of miqo'te mating habit kinda reminded me of the Pretend Dragon thing the Animal Planet channel this. It was a fantasy study of a fantasy animal, done with a scientific approach based on real knowledge and myths alike. Some of the reactions were like someone called the producers to tell them that episode made no sense and was of no interest. I don't know why or how it got so serious, but kudos for apologizing. Peaceful resolution is what we all like.

I think Maeve nailed it just right. I would add that this seemed very much unnecessary to me from the start. I believe I already mentionned that, no matter the amount of explanation, people will always form opinions and are not likely them change it from some PR. Like we said in Star Wars The Old Republic: sith happens. But mostly, if you skimmed through Maeve's post, I invite you to read it carefully. It was a good read.

Now add to this the magical abilities of the fantasy bard, and you got your answer, I would think. ^^ I mean, imagine you're in the middle of a fight... it's getting rough.. and all of a sudden you hear Guile's Theme! Not only does it fit with everything, but it's also accompanied by a flow of magic strengthening you! Time to send the enemy home to be family men. Obviously, this is a gross oversimplification but you get the idea: musical inspiration combined with magic buffs.

But... I'm busy tomorrow night... Oh well! You guys have fun.

1 & 2 Origins 3 I dunno 4 DS or chronicles 5 & 6 anthology The rest doesn't make much of a difference... 7 original though I grabbed the PC verion on steam cause my CD's are getting old O_O 8 I hated the system too much... ^^; 9 I got on psnetwork cause I enjoyed it but the cd's belonged to my ex etc. Yes the DS version of 4 is hard... but it's a lot closer to the original Japanese version. Us version was very watered down and all the FF Chronicles version had was the extra status ailment healing items instead of just having one for all the statuses. I enjoyed it because it was hard, it brought a new level of challenge to my favorite FF game... but yeah if you just want to go through the story again, I guess you're better off with the Chronicles version (comes with Crono Trigger too!) Also, I'm STILL looking for the Mage and Bomb summons... even though I got Goblin twice. o_O

I grabbed the latest rpgmaker on steam, because I used to play around a lot with a hacked rpgmaker2000 back in the days... but I have no idea what to do with it now. ^^;

Azyria (secretly Blue Moon) - You might have heard about amasked Miqo'te with a spear haunting the rooftops and alleys of Ul'dah at night, thwarting criminal and brass blades alike, but lending a hand to sultanate guards or civilians. - You might have seen a blue-haired Miqo'te Keeper working her humble smithy in Ul'dah with her sister, or perhaps you are one of their customers. Agata - You might have heard of or seen a rowdy roegadyn girl brawling and drinking in taverns or fighting just about anywhere in Thanalan. Maybe you even fought her! (more coming as I make final decisions on some other alts)

Okay I'm late in the thread, I'll try to poke in. ^^; Racism and prejudice in games vs in real life. The post about character perceptions being altered by player perceptions and cultures made me smile a bit. I was one of those players in Rift who looked down upon those wanting to kill the other faction on sight... in civilian areas. Sure on the battlefield, it was kill or be killed and there was much at stake, but Defiants came to a Guardian RP hub (partly bcause Defiants had little in terms of RP hubs) to RP peacefully so my character considered them civilians from an enemy nation and treated them as such. As long as weapons were kept sheathed, she was polite. One time some Defiants came to town flagged and looking for a fight.. my character gleefully jumped in! So, while today's society may influence our perceptions, I firmly believe our characters have a right, as unique individuals, to see things a bit differently. Or even a lot differently. Our characters are not the majority and don't have to be representative of the masses. As easy as it is to forget that the world we RP in is different than the world we live in, I think it's even easier to forget that even if there's more players than NPC's in the FF XIV game, the world of FF XIV has a lot more people living in it than the game shows us (and probably a lot more towns and much bigger ones too). It's all a matter of perspective. Now, that Duskwight LS.... I'm almost afraid to ask.. but what server is it gonna be on? As far as my own Duskwight goes, I'm not one to do a ton of research on lore, if it's not readily available. I took what little I had and went with it. Which is, Duskwights separated from the other ones, went underground, and came back out some time ago. So kinda like Drow but without the evil-ness, black skin, spider-loving and dual-wielding gary stu. Okay! So I kept it simple, since what I had to work with was simple, and decided her mother was a weaver and her father a thaumaturge, and didn't think further into the past. Don't get me wrong, I think this thread and all the digging that's been done is awesome! But the fact you guys had to do it is just bad. This kinda lore should be readily available straight from the developers, if you ask me. ^^;

The music helped give it all a tragic feel. ^^; [align=center]***[/align] Frenching with Asyria! "Adieu" means goodbye or perhaps godspeed.. It's a combination of two words "a" and "dieu". "A" in French (and in this context) means "at" (it can also be the verb to have, as in "il a" = "he has"). "Dieu" means "god". Therefore "a dieu" means literally "at god" , but the actual meaning of "adieu" is more like "we'll see each other again at God's side." It's kind of a way to say goodbye when you don't expect to see the person again.

So, long story short... Roegadyn in safe because she's a Roegedyn. Miqo'te is dropped out because she's a Miqo'te. Elezen is mostly okay because most think there's someone worse (I haven't seen many reasons to specifically keep her so far as much as reasons to drop someone else ) Highlander is mostly okay because he's cool though the jack of all trade thing can go both ways. About that... The funny thing with this is even if it will take longer, he COULD eventually reach max level in all classes and so would end up being a specialist in everything. I also note that you Trickery, seem to really like the Highlander and Miqo'te characters. You didn't say much about the Roe, maybe because few people voted her out and those didn't post their reasons... And you did speak about your Elezen, but also admit you worked on her the least. Now I don't know if you intend to let the vote make the decision for you or are using it to bounce ideas with us, but I know what I'd do (aside from just, y'know, keeping all four ^^; )

The thing is you cna have multiple LS but just one FC. If it was me, I'd put my RP into a themed FC and my endgame into a LS (since it's just a chat channel, and it,s all I tend to need for endgame.. a list of people to do things with and a way to coordinate with them.) My endgame experience however is minimal because that's never my main focus in a mmo. The closer I get to endgame, the more casual I get. ^^;

Sure we seem to have drama when all one reads is the drama is... but we have fewer of them, feewer threads locked and less intense drama than any other mmo community I've been part of. And I'm allowed to politely stir the pot every now and then without being branded a heretic! I tell you guys, this is like the ponyville of mmo communities. Love and tolerance for all!

Except they DO count, because he asked for people to vote and give their opinion, and that is the voter's opinion . The voters are voting their own opinion, not his . Fair enough ^^;
