I been having the opposite problem actually. I got invited in beta two weekends ago but I was busy moving to a new appartment so this weekend is the first I actually spent significant time in. ^^; If it helps though, nothing you do in-game now will matter at launch, it's all gonna be wiped. I'd save the excitement for later.

Hi! We actually have a thread about crafting right here but I don't think the tools of the trades and all that stuff was mentionned! It's more of a detailed explanation of how it works. Would probly be best to keep it all in one place anyway! Those threads would definitely both help. Also, I found a little Attribute explanation page where the effects of attributes on crafting are listed. STR is for Blacksmith, Armorer and Botanist VIT is for Carpenter, Armorer, Leatherworker and Miner DEX is for Goldsmith, Weaver, Carpenter and Fishing INT is for Alchemist, Goldsmith, Leatherworker and Botanist MND is for Culinarian, Blacksmith, Weaver and Miner PIE is for Alchemist, Culinarian (lol, pie) and Fishing Btw, this and the Crafting 101 thread could be sticked together mebbe? I'm sure many will find them helpful.

1- I'm keeping mine but I barely haven't played them all that much. Story will remain more or less the same, influenced by what's changed in the world during those 5 years since 1.0. 2- Like a great man once said, back in Shakespeare's days female roles on stage were played by men. I think a new character should be used. A Let's Play thing is aimed mostly for people who haven't played yet, and they won't be seeing Legacy scenes anyway so it wouldn't be very representative of the game for them. ^^ No idea about the rest!

Yeah they're beta to give testers a little boost so they can go and test dungeons and stuff. I don't think we can expect free leveling at launch.

It's Beta Phase 4 that's supposed to be extended play, not Beta Test 4 of Phase 3. ^^ At least I think so!

This girl. As for Superman, I recommend Bill's speech at the end of Kill Bill 2. I'm still not too fond of the supe, but the Bill Speech gave me a new perspective on him. I'm also rather fond of Black Canary, Harley Quinn (I know, not a hero ), and Iron Man.

The whole legacy vs non-legacy thing shouldn't exist. The thing is simply that FF XIV isn't a brand new game, simply a game that went on hiatus and has been reworked significantly. But it's not new. It's like 3 years old. The only difference is this downtime period when the game was being improved. It stands to reason that older players shouldn't lose anything due to new players coming in. Squeenix simply chose to label older stuff Legacy and newer stuff non-Legacy, but those labels put ideas in people's minds, I guess. So, all in all, it's exactly like if there suddenly was tons of players joining an already running mmo. It's like WoW's Cataclysm expansion. Suddenly, new races, the whole world is changed, areas are all different than before, so older player feel like redoing them and newer ons jump in all excited. The one and only difference between this is... for FF XIV there was a long downtime period

Welcome in! There's a linkshell section of the forum where you can browse and see what's recruiting... but I feel I have to give a lil push for Silver Anvil if you're into crafting (think they going Gilgamesh, though), Intermission if you're looking for a RP hub kinda linkshell, and there's a Pirate-themed linkshell in the making! There's many other great ones out there, so take your time and take your pick.

That's why I play miniature wargames but not in tournaments. Don't worry too much about having your posts misinterpreted though. I mean setting the record straight is alright, of course! Just don't worry too much about it. Happens all the time, especially online. Story of my forum life, really. o_O

A half mid half high shouldn't be hard to do. Just pick either a very tall mid or a rather small high, I guess.

Trust me, I've been in many RP communities in many MMO betas and witnessed and participated in many votes for primary/secondary servers, including version 1.0 of this one.... And this vote drama you witnessed here? By far the friendliest and least dramatic of all. That's saying something. O_O

Wait, how do you know this? Is there another survey or something that I'm not aware of? (Also something being less popular is a really poor reason to prefer something, just sayin') Nothing poor about it, some people simply prefer to not be "yet another [insert most popular choice here" if they can avoid it. I think most of us love having as much appearance customization as possible to avoid looking like everyone else, na matter the race we pick, too. I used to be like that and I still enjoy being a rarer sight, but it's just not a big deal for me anymore because in a mmorps, there will be tons of everything, anyway.
