Think we actually had a RPC linkshell back in 1.0! Or a RPC linkshell for people who don't have a linkshell but want to find one or just want to tag thesemlves as RPers or something.

As a side note, I like this new (how new is it anyway) crafting interface but I gotta say the old one was purdy. Loved that shiny glowy thing, even if it was confusing as hell. ^^; Also, Setzer quote from FF6, what do I win?

Welcome in! I'm guessing yur second nickname comes from the "a" going on a trip! As for Final Fantasy knowledge, just read around! You don't really need knowledge of any other Final Fantasy game as they'Re all "final" and unrelated (except X-2 that's related to X, and there is always an awesome guy named Cid for some reason, and he's into airships). Also, your rpg sounds like fun but I'm way over my head into games right now so I'm not gonna want to playtest, unfortunately. ^^:

Originally, I was just so annoyed by people RPing as catgirls in other mmo's where it wasn't an actual race choice that my first reaction when I got into FF XIV was approximately lolcatgirlgottaplaythis. So I did. Yep, it's that simple! Then I figured I really like the look and I wanted a blue one because for some reason I thought it looked awesome so I went Keeper of the Moon. And I'm gonna get a Sea Wolf Roegadyn alt because pirates.

THAC0 being complicated is an old gamer joke because THAC0 can be negative or positive and that made things a bit complicated for no good reason at all. I gotta agree the amount of 30's is surprising though. I used to feel old in mmo communities!

I don't want to go all brony on you guys but friendship IS magic and so is the RPC! I've quit it before I quit FF XIV way back then because of the drama and stuff... but I KNOW we all can get along just fine if we put some effort into it. Looking at this thread, I can't help but think there shouldn't even be round table meeting minutes. Just have the LS leaders share with their LS. We're a (big) bunch of gamers, not an actual government or company with responsibilities and paychecks. Now that's my personal opinion.. but what isn't an opinion is that taking these things too seriously inevitably leads to drama. It's happened before and I have bad memories of it (and I wasn't even involved!) So whatever you all do, take it easy!

Here's the plan. - Punch Yoshi in the face. - Get ALL the people stuck in with me together to form a linkshell! - Make sure we got enough of every role (tank, dps, healer). - Max ALL the classes! - Get ALL the loot! - Plan epic battle strategies. - Save the world. - Go home. - Buy another cursed controller to do it all again!

I used to do that a lot! I blame my French. Commas see a lot of use in French and I realized it wasn't quite as useful in English when someone compared reading me to hearing Captain Kirk. o_O I'm still not entirely sure where I'm supposed to use them and where I'm not but I cut down my use of them in half after that comment.

You know, come to think of it... the whole "Lala are cute little snuggly things" stereotype doesn't have to be meta at all. If we instinctively think small=cute or small=weak, then why wouldn't Eorzeans have the same instinctive response? Especially if they don't personally know any Lalafel who could have proven them wrong. Or worse, know Lalafel who proved them right! If this stereotype is IC, I would think at least some Lalafels would capitalize on it to get out of trouble and con people, while others would simply go along with it. Then of course, you have the ones that feel they have something to prove because of it, those that just don't care, those who are simply annoyed, etc. Calling it meta is closing the door to door to some potential RP fun, I think.

*waves* Hey, i's 31 years old me, with my 17-ish years of RP experience in a dozen pen&paper rpg's, a dozen of mmo's and a handful of LARPs! But, prepare for a shock... I'm actually looking for a mentor! Let me explain. For the past few years, I've been through a lot, and have been staying away from RP on a large scale. And by large scale I mean anything over 3-4 participants. And usually, RP's have been just me and a friend. Lately, I started playing pen&paper with a few friends and a few of -their- friends, for a totel of like 8 people or so. My first longterm RP experience with strangers in years. And it wasn't very deep RP either cause so many players, and we had to keep things moving, etc. So yeah, I'm RUSTY. I know the theory for the most part but the practice, in a large scale setting with strangers while playing a mmo... that still kind of eludes me, it's been too long. I'm in SWTOR, people are RPing and I'm like.... okayface... and I move along. I figure I could use a hand getting back into it. Might seem like a daunting task (like getting Rocky back in shape after his retirement or something ), but I promise I'm fun. Usually. ^^;

Yep, definitely got all that and suspecting she's a pretty tough one too, seeing as she can speak of everyone dying so casually. Of course it's not like she knew them, but it's still her parents she was talking about and I did get the nice and friendly person vibe so she couldn't be callous... meaning she's either got used to telling the story or she's tough. Or both. Probably both.

I'm 31 and English my second language! So while my vocabulary is pretty decent and my grammar is okay, I sometimes have trouble expressing myself as clearly as I'd like and people often misinterpret what I'm trying to say (and they usually misinterpret it in the worst possible way, which inevitably causes drama >.<). If you're curious, French is my first. I live in the land of weremoose, poutine and pâté chinois. I never took any class related to RP in any way except some drama in elementary school because we had to pick 2 out of 3 of music, drama and whatever it is when you glue stuff and make "art" and I REALLY didn't want music so I picked the other two. I ended up in the most advanced English classes though cause I turned out to be pretty bilingual (I suspect most of my motivation came from wanting to know wtf was going on in Final Fantasy 2(US) at the time). This kept on until college so by the time I dropped out, I was comfortable enough watching movies, playing games and reading books in English, if that was their original language (I feel there's always a loss in translating something). Now as far as actual RP goes... if we skip endless games of make believe and solo adventure books (Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf, Way of the Tiger... good times), I guess it started around 12 or 13 years old, when I laid my eyes on some D&D books and from there I started RPing whenever I could. Before RPing in mmorpg's was a thing, though (and that started about 6 years ago for me, I think) I would write extensive backgrounds for NPC's and PC's alike, stories for my friends to enjoy (fantasy/comedy starring them and myself in an alternate universe) and even once, a journal for an NPC, that I intended for players to find and then I'd hand it over for them to actually read (and of course that never happened, but I still had one friend read it). Of course, most of that was in French. o_o

Hmm.. can't say I got a know-it-all vibe in there but then it's 2am and know-it-alls shows in social situations more than in storytelling. Especially if the story is about oneself, the know-it-all DOES know it all so yeah. That's something that would show more in RP, I think.
