  1. I still don't understand why everyone calls it Console-friendly and am beggining to suspect it's just a pretty bandwagon that people jump in. It's less console-friendly than CO (which was made in the optic that the future of mmorpg's was in the consoleS) It's just Final Fantasy-esque to me. And Final Fantasy happens to be a console RPG series. I find the control to be very easy on keyboard and even mouse now that they have hardware mouse. Is it the menus? I've seen other computer games with layered menus, just not usually mmo's...
  2. "Outlet for cross-guild interaction" does hit the mark and clarifies things. ^^
  3. Alright, that's what I thought then! I was just confused because it does look kinda like a "Hey everyone, shove your way through our door every time you want to look at what's going on!" thing, as you put it that it was not.
  4. Didn't think it was meant to replace since it's one additional membership needed, so kinda inconvenient. ^^ The really important question though is... does that mean that A.E.T.H.E.R. Events are not going to be advertised on the RPC Bulletin Board for the most part? You did advertise the matriculation thingy (which I missed as it was unfortunately at a bad time for me), but I'm wondering about future events? A slightly less important question is what kind of events would a non-member want to advertise on your board? I'm guessing it would be some kind of event that specifically in line with A.E.T.H.E.R. style and goals?
  5. Have you fixed the anti-alias in the game confug too? As a side-note, those tiny fonts are heard to read.
  6. Quick question regarding the lasted update/announcement in the guild Hall thread... Why the IC Bulletin Board open to the community at large on your boards when there already is an IC Bulletin Board here? My unnecessary duplicate-sense are tingling. ^^
  7. Should link our own Forum Bazaar section in the Bazaar links, it seems underused at the moment. ^^
  8. I keep reading about games having trouble with ATI Radeon cards.. but the only time I had problem with mines were when the graphic drivers were not updated. And a black screen with sounds is what happened. Update drivers! See if that helps. Note: I also have this problem when something has a different resolution than my TV/monitor can handle, but cutscenes should run in the same Res as the rest of the game, otherwise I'd have this issue all the time.
  9. I miss you, Galaxies. *sniff* I haven't played that Galaxies.. or any Star Wars game, really! ^^; But yeah, that would be the first I hear who done that, then.
  10. It's an Item?? and here I was hoping it was some kinda Trait or something you could just take on and off...
  11. I heard back in Beta that it was possibly with certain Guilds to have stat changes. For example +15 in a physical stat and -15 in a magical one, or the other way around. I'm sure it was said, but I'm sure sure how it works, but I thought I'D throw this out here as something to look for in the future (when we start getting guild marks).
  12. I like to do a 70's Robin impersonation and say "Holy [insert word appropriate to the situation]" rather than "Holy f-word" (or s-word). Example: You get crit for 3k by a giant crab... "Holy crustacean, that hurt!"
  13. Awesome work! As far as character pages go, should we use the same template as in the Archives?
  14. We voted for only one, and I don't see any vote coming up while the Mother Of All Votes is being held. Besides, servers are just name. If you want to get started, pick a server, let it be known (start a thread with a huge obvious title) and go ahead. The only thing is people wanting to join an existing LS will still have to wait.
  15. That was one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a long time...
  16. The speculation about Attributes influencing crafting came from a misinterpreted mention of stats influencing crafting. Stats and Atributes are not the same and the only stats that do influence crafting are those stats found on certain equipment such as crafting tools and crafter clothes, etc. (stats like Craftmanship, Control and Output).
  17. If you want to fight, STR/DEX is definitely the way to go.. just don't forget some VIT as well unless you want to be a glass cannon. Unless you plan on focusing on magic, I would advice against putting much pts in INT/PIE/MND, no matter what your race starts with. I picked Keeper because I like the look and feel of the race, and even though they were clearly the more magey Miqo'te, I'm not gonna use much magic. It's just starting stats, it doesn't really mean much. It's more of a Min/Maxing thing. That said, you can put some pnts in MND at least so you're more resistant to magic (M.Def.). Elemental are... - Strengths and Weaknesses: How strong you are with that element (especially useful to Conjurer, but also to Glad for Fire Lotus, Pugi for the Earth-based attack, and possibly others I don't know about) and how resistant you are to an elemental attack of that type. - Influences on shard gain: I'm not sure how significant the influence is, but it's there. You're more likely to gain shards of the type of your highest Element stats.
  18. They're not going to take away the skill points system. You don't just build a system from scratch and start it all over because players are unhappy. What you do is try to fix it and hope people are happy. But they won't start over with a brand new system. That has never been done and will never be done either. It's flawed, but a lot of people like this a lot more than just picking one class and leveling it, with all the stats following along, and having no real options for change. It's a great compromise between pure class-based and pure skill-based,, it just needs tweaking. Like everything does in every game, all the time. And yes, don't forget the cap. If you're already Rank 20 in your class, but you must have hit at least some degree of skill pt penalty a few times.
  19. Still wondering if it has any IC link with the Ul'dah ruling Syndicate? I asked in the Pub but no answers?
  20. Yep yep, LOTRO was really intimidating... but that's because the lore was really REALLY developed, and older than any of its players. FF XIV's lore on the other hand is brand new and little developed in comparison so there's a lot of room right room. It's just a matter of, as it's been said, being reasonable and in line with what little is there.
  21. Omg... Tom et ses chums, I lol'd so much when I first saw it... This is SO how some of friends played D&D too! *lives in Quebec*
  22. We are heavily Besaid focused -now-. What will it be next year? As more and more RPers come and end up unable to roll on Besaid because it's full, the RP community WILL be split sooner or later.
