Epic is the right word.

If that happens, I guess SA should become a Company. ^^

Because so far there are no user channels, Linkshells are basically just a chat channel and a horrible crest next to your name, and the RPC has over 700 members while Linkshells are limited to 128, making an RPC Linkshell impossible. ^^; As for a General chat for meetups and such, well... this idea worked miracles in CO, but in CO, it really was a general channel that included any and all who wanted in, as opposed to simply freelancers. That said, Linkshells already have their RP potential so Freelancers might need that extra help when looking for something specific. Open world RP is all well and good but not always the best place to ask for RP adventuring, for example.

True, eye shape makes a huge difference in the overall feel of a face. The one I ended up taking for Azy, when I choose the Face, I didn't like it at first, but I liked the tattoo options... then I changed the eyes and I had it.

Bwahahahahha Thagyr looks so awesome like that! He has that kind of natural frown and still looks cute in a grumpy way.

What's DD for? Also, there's some interesting ideas in the following thread but most are not quite as elaborated. ^^ http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1488

That's also a pretty good idea! And don't worry about credit, mine was just a line at the bottom of another suggestion, Satisun actually developed on it more. I was just kidding cause it seems to happen a lot. ^^;

It's because the one negative aspect is one that has potential to disrupt RP for both the OP and his group and for everyone else they interact with, so it's kind of a big issue. The Cannon Party will ignore characters whose story conflicts with theirs and characters will ignore the Cannon Party everytime they bring up the Cannon storyline in RP, so there's a lot of potential for isolation there, which kinda goes against the idea of a RP Community. However, and most importantly, the OP already agreed with the idea of keeping the Cannon RP within their Cannon Party/LS only so that should fix everything (though they only acknowledged Satisun and not me as far as bringing up the idea, which makes me a sad panda, but I'll live ^^; ) That said, if I didn't already have my one character slot taken up, I might be interested in this.. I know a few FF games I would have loooooooooooooved to RP through.

Here is Asyria's easy-but-it-requires-a-bit-of-work solution to RPing through game storyline without making it exclusive: Step 1. Figure out a storyline for your group of RPers to play through. Step 2. Adapt the actual storyline NP'C names and plots to your storyline. Step 3. RP through the storyline accordingly. Step 4. Impress your friends with your stories without spoiling the actual game storyline for them or causing impossibility conflicts (how could you have killed that guy last month if I did it yesterday?) The solution in action: Step 1. You ask your friends to help you defeat the villain that's been plaguing your life all this time. Step 2. You introduce the villain as Bob, your arch-enemy, even though the villain is actually Joe in the game story and he of course never had anything to do with you. Step3. You and your friend RP along and the final confrontation ends with Bob's death, meaning you are finally free! Step 4. You tell your friends how relived you are, and they don't even know where you all got this from! In CO, the Nemesis system kinda sucked in certain things, but its presence was awesome, as it let you do exactly that, with the additional perks of customizing your enemy's look and powers. You couldn't customize quests, but lots of RPers used the above method to develop their storylines. If you choose to really use the cannon storyline as is... I'm afraid many RPers will find it rather annoying that you'd claim you've done this and that, including, I'm sorry to say, myself. As you said "if someone has already taken down the lich king, they're obviously out of your RP scenario, and you can make your character not hear them (because it would be impossible for them to exist)" and this goes both ways! ^^; It's your game as much as mine and everyone else's of course, so feel free to RP through it as you like! I'm just saying it's kind of a peeve to many people Even though it does sound pretty fun, it's a RPing style better suited to multiplayer as opposed to massively multiplayer. Therefore, when RPing with others outside of your Party, I would suggest you keep the storyline references to a minimum. ^^

Question about secret identities and other players...
Asyria replied to SamusKnight2K's topic in RP Discussion
Except the things you read here? You don't have to have read any character profiles to know that Samus' char is really a male for instance Just saying... Personally, if I played a char with a really big secret, I probably wouldn't post that any place here either... Maybe in my guildforum, but some of the fun COULD be in people actually figuring it out, and get their reaction if they OOCly realizes it. But I understand that you posted it here, Samus, since it was more of a "your ideas for how to pull this off", at least how I understood it. I still think it's a really cool idea btw. That's pretty much I -would- do if we had more than one character slot. I'd roll one Azyria with crafting/gathering classes and one Blue Moon with Lancer and both would look identical... but the name above their heads would be different, so no one would ever assume unless deep RP was involved, and even then, I dunno. However, as I have no intention of paying for that additional slot, I'm stuck telling people that I'm going with double-identity because the name above the character's head can't be changed. However, I'm sure if I did the above, it would be months before anyone would have any suspicions if ever so yeah... I don't expect anyone to realistically figure it out IC. -
I would love to see/hear your character in action! *u* I wrote a story in the appropriate section. ^^ Part 1 is before, as a normal young Miqo'Te and Part 2 is after, as her masked alter-ego. Also, Hawt White Mage!

Question about secret identities and other players...

The important question however is... what if they give us male Miqo'te in the future along with an IC explanation of why they suddenly go out adventuring too)? -
Question about secret identities and other players...
Asyria replied to SamusKnight2K's topic in RP Discussion
I think that it's all a matter of what is ICly done to hide the identity and how it could fail, which ultimately depends mostly on the player of the secret identity-esque character. Of coure there could be some metagaming involved in "you can,t find out cause I say so" but it should be defined ahead of time what is done to ensure that people won't find out. This way, others can figure out if they would notice anything or not. Mind you, it -does- take a lot before a character becomes suspicious unless the disguise is poor. There's also the thematic f the secret identity concept and for RP's sake, room can be made for that. I mean, we all know that Clark Kent is Superman, no matter how thick his glasses are. Same goes with an Eorzean with a mask. Spiderman is another story. You can't see an inch of his skin. My character falls somewhere in between... there aren't that many blue haired Miqo'te around, but she relies on her acting skills (she loves watching plays and learned from those) as well as, like I mentioned above, perfumes and masks and things. In the end it's a matter of respect, I guess. On one side, respect for the player who wishes to toy around with the secret identity theme and, on the other, respect for the player who, without calling on crazy things like mind-reading and failproof sense of observation shenanigans, manages to find a realistic way to pierce the character's disguise. To take myself as an example again, I figured that Balthazar's Favor NPC's, with enough spying (due to her meddling in their bizness) ,managed to find out who she was because they observed her long enough and managed to catch her going home. That's part of her storyline and how she joined the LS. In RP however, I would expect people who think their character would know to ask me and we would then determine what to do. Mind you, anyone pulling any failproof shenanigans ("I read your mind so I know automatically") would likely be ignored. Someone who proposes clever ways about how their character would find out however (pointing out that "there was only Blue Moon and me, so how do you know this if you're not her, Azy?" for example), that I can deal with and enjoy. -
