To be honest, maleqo'te aka catboys do seem pretty popular! I remember even in 1.0 som people wanted to play one so bad they made the most tomboyish female miqo'te possible and RPed them as males. But now we have them! I like being a less often seen class/race myself but... honestly? I think it's more important to play what you want than to play something more unique. You can be unique through your RP, too.

Silver Anvil needs more members before it can help with anything! So far it's got 2 and a half (I count as half because I still haven't figured out what I'm doing with all my characters o_o). Would be a good idea though.

Welcome in! Hehe, another caboy. I don't know how hybrid you can get in FF XIV ARR... I know back in 1.0 it was doable but not easy to be something akin to a Red Mage (Gladiator/Conjurer... but you needed a lot of stats). You seem to be more limited in how many abilities you can use from other classes than the currently used one, now. We'll see! Red Mage would be really nice to see anyway!

I remember posting in a thread like this a long time ago... And what I had for my vigilancer was this; nffKT1m8_Fk As for my Roegadyn... os5TXyJlEMc

Some respect please, this is addressed to all
Asyria replied to Gideon Aryeh's topic in RP Discussion
Nate, you just indirectly called people rolling on Gilgamesh selfish in one paragraph and said you're not seeing any disrespect in the next one... I agree with most of the essence of your post but the OP never asked to stifle anything, he asked for respect. Something we all need to be careful about when discussing anything we have strong opinions about. Of course there was never any direct name-calling, but even indirect offenses are, well, offensive. Anyways, I'm not here to point finger, but this was just an easy example of how easy it is to offend when we're not careful. And that's all that's being asked here, I believe. I also believe that you do in fact have to respect people's choices. -
She could be!

I agree too! Though I do believe having separate subforums for both servers is important. Not to further split us up, but simply to make it easier to look for server-specific threads! Also, while this thread came mostly to defend Gilgamesh, please keep in mind that Balmung also had to deal with a fair share of aggressivity, so please EVERYONE keep it in mind to respect each other. It goes both ways. balmungilgamesh forever! -
I remember you! Welcome back. ^^

Yay! Also, lol Black.. I just saw that movie a couple days ago.

I'll just point out that both Balmung and Gilgamesh are supposed to be pointed out as most likely to have a high population of RPers, as far as we know. Saying that one is going to be better than the other is just not right, as both should be promoted. It's not a contest, just a question.

You make me feel ooooooooooooooooooold! I started with Final Fantasy (note the lack of number)on the NES. >.> Anyways, welcome in! You said you perused the site for a couple hours, but just in case you missed it, this thread should be pretty relevant to your situation. ^^

I will likely have one on each server, so not voting since I can't vote for both at the same time.

Couldn't of said it better myself, but I think I'll add to this some. When I was younger, I had a very close community of online friends that I could be myself around. That shared in my interest in telling stories, and that didn't judge me about telling them my way. That loved me for who I was, and not for trying to be perfect, or as likable as possible. That made me smile, even during the darkest days. That kept me going, even when I felt like I couldn't trudge anymore. As life, being cruel, does sometimes, they all moved on with their lives, slowly. One by one. Until I was left on my own. I'm not sure if everyone would understand the feeling of sitting there at night, completely alone, with no one to talk to. About the things you like. About the things you feel like talking about. About what you need to get off your chest, or.. even so much as just wanting a hug. The RPC has done something for me that no one has done in years. Made me feel like I belong somewhere. For a person who never had a place to rest in life except for those few fleeting moments, that's something wonderful and something that I value greatly. It's beyond me feeling like, oh I get along with these, or, oh, I can talk to these people.. it feels like home. For people who never have that kind of thing in their lives, it means the world to people like us... So thank you, RPC. For taking me in. For making me feel like I belong. For giving me a home. I know exactly what you mean about the whole sitting there at night thing. I never felt I belonged anywhere though, there's always something missing that I can never put my finger on, but I'll say even if I feel like I'm just passing through, the RPC is a pretty awesome place to pass through. ^^

.... It's sourcestone! Further encouraging my heady desire for an ARR/Rift crossover. *is bricked* Just add Iron Kingdom's mechanika into the mix for epic steampunk techomagic.

Whoa, really? Dang thats a long time ago. But sweet, that would mean a potential member more! *laughs* Gilgamesh needs more RP crafters and merchants. Someone has to fill the auction house and RP markets with quality gear, after all! Hate to burst that bubble but I'm the same person who's on your guild forum. ^^;

I spent some time in Silver Anvil way back in 1.0 and I still love the concept, so I might roll on Gilgamesh and join in, even if Balmung will be my main server. ^^ Or hey I could reroll Azy over there... she's only got a dozen levels in half a dozen classes. It's not like she was maxed out or anything. o_O Still on the fence about the whole thing...

I barely played 2.0 yet but I remember Gladiators in 1.0 could do fire sword attacks fairly early and pugilisits have some chakra stuffs and magic seems to be used by pretty much everyone one way or another and to one degree or another. Of course not everyone is a Louisoix, but I guess you could call it a "high magic" world. And speaking of Louisoix, a shield that can ALMOST protect you from an angry Bahamut is pretty amazing, not to mention sending a whole bunch of people in the future. As far as what can be done in RP... I'd look and my character's abilities, look back on my past experiences in other games, make a quick judgment about what I want my character to do in comparison to my their in-game abilities, and go for it if it seems fairly equivalent. Gotta take the FF lore into account though! Easy example: I want my character to magically start a fire. My character can cast Fira. No problem. Another example: I want my character to magically fly. My character can cast Fira. In D&D, you can Fly with a 2nd level spell.. Fireball is a 3rd level one... Fire is the second fire spell out of three (Fire, Fira, Firaga)... seems fair. BUT! I don't think I ever seen any Final Fantasy character fly with a spell... hmmkay, I guess I can't. Last one: My character is covered in dirt, I want them to get clean. They can cast some kinda Wind spell. I figure they can use wind magic to dust themselve off, though it will mess up her hair, lulz. TL;DR: I don't have any easy answer!

PC version of 2.0 load performance SSD vs. hdd?
Asyria replied to Niteshade_Rune's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
One thing to be careful about with SDD's. I don't know if it's still true but when they first came out they were VERY short-lived when used for things that often change. Like a single player game with an auto-save would constantly rewrite information on the SDD and that would wear it out quick. Otherwise I hear it really helps loading. -
Derp, I was gonna say something but then noticed it's been said already! Don't mind me. >.>

Of course I had something already possibly planned for Saturday T_T

Zomg a Renaise posting! In other news... The whole closing th door to new registrers things? It might have sent the wrong message, but it also prevented problems. We got at least one person who made an account here, then talked more or less agaisnt the RPC on the beta forum. I know of one, but we might have avoided more... Still, probably not enough to change the results of the vote as Gil has won by far, even counting the Beta poll and even without the Wildcard votes... But let's try to see both sides of that coin. It wans't an entirely good decision, but not certainly not an entirely bad one either. Besides, messages are what people want to perceive them to be more often than what the sender intends them to be...

Look at all them catboys!

You know Kyatai, I think this brings a pretty interresting point and would help illustrate the difference between IC and OOC and canon and non-canon and that kinda stuff. Things that people new to RP would want to learn! My problem is I know the "mechanics", if you will, of RP, but I'm rusty and always had trouble with RPing in crowds etc. Even in pen&paper I prefer groups of 3-4 players tops while I have friends who have no issue DMing for twice as much. o_O

I voted Female Miqo'te cause that was my character in 1.0 and will remain my main. I'll also RP a female Roegadyn though. May or may not keep my female Midlander Hyur around, I dunno.
