Ul'dah Garden's Valentione Ball and Fundraiser!
Kailia replied to Kailia's topic in Chronicled Events
We are still looking for judges. If you are interested drop me a PM! -
I think what I'd like to see is follows: Conjurer Green Mage - A dps class built around the wand and shield. A melee caster that uses elemental debuffs to damage enemies. A balanced choice much like the arcanists who get summoner for dps, and scholar for healing. Ideal subclass: Gladiator Thaumaturge Red Mage - A no brainer. A class that uses both black and white magic. Ideal subclass: Conjurer Gladiator Dark Knight - Lot of people want this. Would be a fantastic opposite for paladins. And no brainer what subclass for it: Thaumaturge Marauder Berserker - The class shifts from being a tank, to being an outright AOE DPS. Berserkers also need to move rather quickly so possible subclass: Pugilist Archer Musketeer - Drop the bow, hello musket! Sub Class: Lancer Lancer Beastmaster - A class that takes control of a beast to use against enemies. Obvious subclass: Arcanist Pugilist Ninja - A master of shadow and assassination. But throwing stars as well. Subclass: Archer

K'ailia's ears dropped. So this was final judgment. She stepped forward then and bowed her head. "Though now I am an exile. I will always care for the tribe. Let me know when the tribe moves. I am now the leader of Ul'dah Garden. The day the tribe moves, I can organize my forces to keep the Amalj'aa at bay as the tribe passes through their lands. You only need but send a messenger." she said. She then turned to K'yohko, "I know from what mother said, that upon leaving it is as if I have died to the tribe..." she pulled her bandana off and handed it to K'yohko, "Please... honor me as one that has died then." With that, she turned back to the elders and gave one final bow, before stepping out of the tent and walking with her head held high out of the tribe camp. The elders had responded as she suspected they would. She was now dead to her tribe. But her new life awaited her. The sun had long set. But she still knew the direction she must go. When she came to the cliff face leading up into the upper Sagolii, the sun was rising, and she slowed her pace, making sure to conserve energy. Luckily for her, the conjury she had learned allowed her to take what little moisture was in the air to make water for herself. By the time she saw the outline of the U tribes territory, a day had come and gone. And she immediately stopped at the stream to quench her thirst before heading into the town itself, making sure to bow her head in respect to the sentinels outside the gate. But she would not be going through Amalj'aa territory. Her intent was to pass through the labyrinth to get back to Ul'dah. As she headed for the cave, a figure emerged and she paused. The male Miqo'te standing before her, was massive in both height and musculature. Though he was much less so than she remembered. "Hello K'ailia. The fact you are here, means you've left the tribe camp.", the male said. K'ailia nodded, "Aye, the elder said if I left, then I can no longer be part of the tribe. I have responsibilities in the outsider world. My nature is to be free as a bird. Not caged and told to not trust anyone outside the cage. But... didn't you die?" K'hai smiled softly, "No, I did not. I'm suffering from Aether Sickness though, but the tribe shamans should-" K'ailia shook her head, "The tribe shamans cannot cure that. However.. I can... Would you like me to?" K'hai held up a hand, "That can wait... come sit, I want to know why you would abandon family." K'ailia nodded, taking a seat on a rock, as K'hai leaned against the cliff side, "You want the entire story?" she asked. K'hai nodded, "Every detail if you would." K'ailia nodded once more, "It all began when I failed my trial of adulthood. I was sent away from the tribe to Gridania to learn Conjury on behalf of the tribe. Mother accompanied me, so I wasn't lonely." "And our trip back was... fun. But when I returned back to camp, I felt like an outcast. No one really seemed to care about me one way or another. And though I learned a lot of useful healing magic, Killing is what the final test was..." she trailed. "But I could see clearly, for the first time. The tribe was suffering. The reason they had me kill, was to feed the tribe. Not mend the ones who were hurt. And I suggested to the elders that the tribe would be better off moving to a land more capable of sustaining us." she continued. "But they rejected it. I met with the other younglings and we requested a tribe wide meeting. A request even the elders could not refuse. And... I had signed up with a school at the time called Ul'dah Garden. Telling the Headmaster of the tribes plight, he wanted to help us, and wrote a proposal on the scroll." she looked K'hai in the eyes. "K'ile Tia though insulted me for even bringing the scroll to the tribe camp. It was one big fight. But then the elders told everyone that there would be a scouting party. And it was made up of me, K'ile, mother, and K'haali. But I still felt like an outsider, one that dared speak to other outsiders and go behind the elders." she said. K'hai shook his head, he could not believe what he was hearing. "So I tried telling mother my feelings that it would probably be better if I left the tribe. Instead... we had our first big fight and she struck me. K'ile later found me, and we talked, as friends for once. I even told him I have no desire to ever mate. And he got my mother and I to make up to each other. I thought everything was good, I even put out of my mind leaving the tribe." she said, looking down at the sand at her feet. "So what changed your mind then?" asked K'hai. "The events that happened in Eastern Thanalan..." she replied. K'hai nodded, "Alright then skip to there." "Alright... it started when we arrived. It was raining and we took shelter at an inn in the town. K'haali and I went out to get information from the townsfolk of the surrounding areas. When we got back, mother was racing out of the inn and disappeared. K'ile told us to go find her..." she said. "Why did she run? Or did she tell you?" asked K'hai. "K'ailia shook her head, "She never said why. But I found her looking at a gravestone. We headed back but first headed to a spot a barkeep told me about. It looked perfect for the tribe. We headed back, got K'ile and K'haali, and when we returned, it was as if Azeyma herself was blessing the land, for the rain stopped and the sun shone on the entire area." K'hai smiled, "Azeyma must of blessed the place." K'ailia nodded, "K'ile and mother wanted to scout out an Amalj'aa base nearby, so I was to go with K'haali on her surveying. But she ended up leaving without me, and K'ile and mother disappeared for a time as well." K'hai frowned, "So you were left alone?" K'ailia nodded once more, "I ended up on a visit to the town, getting a letter about a girl in an orphanage belonging to our tribe. So I took it back to camp, only to find all three had returned, but K'ile and mother were hurt, and neither wanted me to heal them, but wanted me to heal the other first. So... I used an area spell to mend both at once." "Stuborn fools..." K'hai said. "I then showed them the letter and K'ile was opposed. Said they couldn't even mold me into a proper tribemat. I then made the offer to give myself over to learn directly from him. He responded by telling me to think twice, that he'd force me to mate." she said, her tail starting to fuzz with renewed anger. K'hai's ears dropped back with a deep frown. "I of course withdrew the offer, mother and K'haali did nothing to address that. And I began spending more and more time away from camp. One day though on a visit to the camp, K'haali was there, and a stranger sowed up to pick herbs. I guess that was the day I realized, I don't think like the tribe." she continued. K'hai looked at K'ailia, "How so?" K'hai looked up at him, "I welcomed the stranger, and offered him some food I bought with gil I earned from Garden. K'haali though protested and even hit me in the head once for being friendly to an outsider. She don't know though when we sat down to eat, I recognized his smell kinda. He smelled a lot like K'raqi Nuhn." K'hai smiled, "Let me guess..." K'ailia nodded, "K'haz Tia. He confirmed that in private when he was getting ready to leave." K'hai nodded, "Alright continue." K'ailia took a deep breath, "Mother wanted to meet the Headmaster of Ul'dah Garden, so we took a trip back to the city and she spoke privately with him. And things seemed to go fine. I also was made chief medical officer for Garden." K'hai smiled, "So you became their shaman?" K'ailia nodded, "Aye. But then... one day I got called in, mother was hurt bad. I had to use magic to heal her, but even then it would of took time to fully heal. But she got up and ran away by teleportation. I was mad, so mad in fact I asked a man to come with me and gave him special darts I made. Not for mother, but for me, in case I lost control of myself." K'hai nodded, "Sounds reasonable... did you find her?" K'ailia nodded, "Aye... And K'ile pointed his spear at my head telling me I was not welcomed and should leave... me, her daughter, a fellow tribemate... So in anger, I sent a stone spell for his male parts and mother for some reason, jumped in the path of the stone. I learned later it had broken her hip..." K'hai frowned at that. What was his sister thinking? The tia pointed a weapon at her daughter, and she would defend him? "I then out of anger, said I was no longer part of the tribe. I did not know the significance of that decision... but father a couple days ago, told me." she continued. "Indeed, it is a decision that cannot be taken lightly..." K'hai responded. "K'ile found me a few days ago, asked me to return with him to the tribe camp as an outsider. He also apologized for his words, and aiming a weapon at me. He also told me about mothers hip." she said, "Mother was in the city visiting me at the time, and knowing I had accidentally injured her, went to tell her the news." K'hai nodded, "A sensible action. You sought to repair the damage you inflicted on a family member..." K'ailia nodded, "Instead, the moment I mentioned K'ile seeing me and inviting me to the tribe camp, she started throwing things at the door. I even offered to heal her hip, and she continued throw stuff... I lost my temper again and broke the door down and confronted her... told her she was behaving like a child..." K'hai held up a hand, "You've been through a lot... And sister's behavior is quite odd." he lowered his hand, "So then, you left for the tribe camp?" K'ailia shook her head, "Mother ran away again, and a couple days later, the Headmaster ended up in a coma... he was the one that had injured her it turned out. So... I am now the Headmaster... And since mother, nor K'ile bothered to come find me, I assumed they had left without me for the tribe camp. I thought about the other exiles, and did not just want to run away. I wanted to explain myself, and to face the consequences of my actions." K'hai frowned, "So that is why you left on that flying monstrosity..." "Aye... when I arrived at the camp, the huntresses all were ready to kill me. But K'nahli asked why I came back. I told her and she took me to the elders tent. However that got her in trouble, and I was shoved to the ground by K'takka" she said. "K'hai nodded, "A response I would expect..." "K'deiki asked what sort of heart would abandon family. I spoke, and K'takka put a fetish in front of me, then poured this drake gland powder on it and shoved my head down into it, and put a bowl over my head. No elder told me what they wanted or expected of me..." K'ailia said. K'hai's tail wagged angrily at that bit. "And father came, and both he and K'takka forced the powder into my nose and lungs. Until finally I got the hint they wanted me to say nothing, but to stay in one spot and be obedient..." K'ailia's own tail was wagging now, remembering the treatment she faced. "Father then took me outside and I told him what I told you. He realized I had left the tribe out of ignorance. He proposed that I give up my status as an adult, stay with the tribe till they moved, and once settled, take visits to the city.", her tail calmed now. K'hai's tail though did not, "And did you accept that proposal?" K'ailia nodded, "I did, and even offered to turn myself over to him to learn personally from him. He said he could not teach me. When we returned to the elders tent, he changed the proposal." K'hai's tail stopped, "In what way?" K'ailia smiled, "He proposed letting me stay in the city, and be the connection between outsiders and the tribe. To be the one to trade on behalf of the tribe and ship resources the tribe needs to the tribe. All while still being a member of the tribe." K'hai smiled, "That sounds like a beneficial proposal for you and the tribe." K'ailia nodded, "Aye, I would of loved to of had that proposal be reality. But K'deiki rejected it. So I offered my aid to the tribe when they needed it, and then... gave father my bandana, to honor me one last time as a dead member of the tribe... then left for the last time..." K'hai had heard enough. The family he once knew, was no more. His sister is infatuated with a tia that has both threatened and been abusive to her own daughter. And the tribe treated her as an outsider, and even the elders insulted her. He would fair no better. But what is worse, his sister struck her daughter, in much the same way he himself struck his sister. And he was forced to apologize, but he doubted his sister told the elders that bit of information. His visit home, would no longer come. As far as the tribe was concerned, he was dead. Has been dead for five years. "You are not going to the outsider world alone K'ailia. I will be returning with you." he proclaimed, "Now... you said you can cure me of this sickness?" K'ailia looked up at K'hai and smiled, "Aye..." she stood and walked up to him, "Just hold still, and know, I wont hurt you." Her hands lit up in white magic, as her aether reached into K'hai and gathered the Aether flooding his body, and began pulling it out. The aether though was foul, not like any K'ailia had seen or felt before. And it coalesced into a ball of energy. Quickly she flooded it with a white magic assault spell, destroying the foul entity. K'hai smiled, feeling for the first time, actual relief. He placed a hand on K'ailia's head, "Thank you niece. You head on back. I am going to train out here a while. I must get my strength back, if I am to be of use to you." K'ailia smiled and nodded, "Alright uncle. I will see you back in Ul'dah then." With that, the two parted ways. K'ailia went back home, to Ul'dah City, to Garden. And K'hai remained in upper Sagolii, fighting sun drakes and sandworms. The tribe was no longer their home. Both were dead. The true visit home... would be in the outsider world. Both would strive to make their new homes better for themselves, and the family they leave behind. For home, was not a person, nor a thing. Home is a place where one returns, is welcomed with open arms. A place that will never turn you away, nor treat you as a stranger. And though K'ailia visited the tribe camp, it was not home. She was not welcomed there. But, in Garden, she has a home. She has new family that welcomes her every day. She was a wild child, given responsibilities others would faulter and give up on. But through her new home, she would look upon the world with open eyes. Her views match not her former tribe, but views that were her own. And through Ul'dah Garden, she hopes to help others see, that home is not a small place. Eorzea was her home, and she would help ensure it, and all its people, even her former tribe, lived as comfortably as possible, without fear of the Garleans, or the primals, or any other threat that would do it harm.
-
K'ailia turned her head sharply to look up at her father. It wasn't the deal she had agreed to. However, it was a deal she preferred over giving up her freedom. It would allow her to use Garden's forces for the tribe when they needed it. Was she that easy to read? Would the elders agree? Would they at least now hear her out? Her eyes turned now to the elders, pleading with them to accept the offer her father made. She still cared about the tribe, but she also had responsibilities in Ul'dah. She was now the Headmaster of Garden. But in her heart, she was still a Hipparion that would continue honoring Azeyma and practicing some of the tribes traditions. But she would not speak, not until the elders addressed her personally. She'd do whatever it took to keep a family, and the Garden was an extended branch of her family now.

K'ailia frowned. Even her father did not believe he could teach her. But she followed silently behind her father. But still on her mind, was Garden. She was the headmaster of it. If she failed to report back, there was none left to replace her. Garden would be ended before it could have a chance to revive. But she quickly put the thoughts from her mind, looking upon the elders, she realized. They aren't as scary as she always believed. They were simply old. But then she began to think of the journey the tribe would take. Could they possibly survive such a trip? Especially through Amalj'aa territory? She suspected the reasoning her father wants her to remain in the camp is because he'd like her to use her magic to keep the tribe safe on the trip. It made sense. But her father's proposal depends upon the elders agreeing. If they decline, she would make a proposal of her own.

K'hai continued to walk towards the quicksand, when his ears flicked. Yep K'ile made it inside, "Nice going squirt, now while you busy yourself looking for your precious food, I can tend to what is more important. Family." he said to himself, as he passed through the doors of the quicksand. Sniffing, he could see his sister was not in the room he'd found her. But her trail was easy enough to follow as he went up the stairs into the inn itself. Down the hallway, her trail ended at a door. He gave a light knock. "Sister? Are you in there?" he asked.

If you are interested in a school setting, we at Ul'dah Garden are now under new leadership. We hold weekly events for the FC on mondays at 4pm PST, and are currently looking at possibly engaging the community in our RP's as well. Our site: http://uldahgarden.guildlaunch.com/

K'hai walked through the market, towards where he found K'ile to begin with. He couldn't help but wonder just what got into him. He was so much different before the war. And then dictating about moving his own sister. K'luha belongs at home, not in this city, he thought. And even if he has to knock K'ile out and drag them both back home, there is still the matter of his niece to deal with. What could of made that girl leave family? Getting back to the tribe camp was more important. But so was ensuring his sister was taken home as well. Though K'ile apologized, there was still something off he thought. Then he remembered, there was still the little pouch of gil in his pocket. Wasn't much. But maybe enough to rent a chocobo to get his sister home on. But for now, he focused on his target. He'd arrived back where he found K'ile. Same guard still there. Only the guard was clearly bored, as he was quite focused on fishing in his nose with his finger. K'hai smiled, this was just too perfect. K'ile better be ready, he thought, as he chucked with all his might, the bottle which shattered in front of the lone guard, sending the swarm within into a frenzy. Workers and the guard panicked as the swarm began biting. Chaos had taken hold. His part was now done. Quickly, he made his exit, heading back to the quicksand. He'd at least see his sister, before deciding what to do next.

I know a lot of people, myself included, would like to use some of the items you got from the lightning returns event, for vanity. What gladiator/paladin wouldn't want to use the gunblade for their main weapon as they level? So I just pray whatever they go with, doesn't require destroying/disabling the item. Cuz that would really be sad.
-
I really really hope it is not a fusion system. Because every fusion system I know of, destroys the item you want the look of, to use its graphics on something else. So I am hoping they go with a system like what I speculated instead, which wouldn't sacrifice an item. Especially since some items are 1 time obtains like the lightning event stuff. Lot of folks would love to use some of them weapons as vanity slot items.
-
So they mentioned barely, the vanity slot system, which they call the Glamour system. There was mention of something called Mirage Prism. So given what little information given, I suspect (And this is pure speculation here) that how it works is like this: Unlock a new npc like the Aesthetician New item slot on character sheet for vanity(glamour item) You equip the look you want, weapon and all then speak to the new npc who saves your vanity look to a mirage prism equip mirage prism in new vanity slot and you got your vanity system. Could be an interesting system, but I suspect like the aesthetician, will come with a hefty fee. But this type of system doesn't even suggest item destruction, since mirages are illusions. What you all think? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey all! Seeing as people were wanting the thread updated, figured I'd do an edit of the original post. New information is out! And this looks to be the actual system: You right click the item you want to change and choose the new glamour option. I'm guessing like the materia system you will have to unlock it. The new glamour option opens a new window where you select what item to replace the default model with. The Prism's work like melding, a reagent used for the glamour as evident in this screenshot: The prisms are catalysts apparently. And confirmed is the fact that you can only glamour items your job can equip. So no white mages running around in heavy iron armor lol.
-
K'ailia nodded, following her father back to the elders tent. It would seem this would not just be a visit. She was... home. She would listen to her father, and learn all he would teach her. As they walked she spoke one more thing. "I made an offer to K'ile, to give myself over, to learn, and he chased me away from the offer. I would like to learn from you father." she said as she walked, remaining silent as they entered the camp.
-
K'ailia was to surprised at the suggestion. So his solution, would be to revoke her status as an adult. She'd be required to stay with the tribe, until the tribe moved. She would need to at least get those affairs in order. "When... would I be able to retake my trials father? And... I still believe we can use Garden's resources to help the tribe during the move." she asked, "But I will agree to remain here till the tribe moved. I am assuming the move is soon?"
-
K'ailia listened and closed her eyes, processing the questions. When next she opened them, it was with sadness, "I don't... I am useless being away..." But then, what was she to do about Garden? But for now, she understood, she needs to put those matters away, and focus on the tribe, since she was here. But then... what was her father's plan?
-
"How is it that you help the tribe by being in the city?" K'yohko's big question to her. She looked her father in the eyes before answering. "Father, our tribe is starving. In the time I was away, there was one less mouth to feed. I am not good at hunting. My strengths lie in healing. And then there are the ones who take trips to the city to get supplies. I've seen what Ul'dah has done to my mother." she said. For the first time since she came back, she refered to her K'yohko as father. "Not all outsiders are good. But there are still many good outsiders. I've been given full control of Ul'dah Garden because of Ventus's condition. A condition, that had resulted in mother being almost killed..." she looked to her feet. "I never want to see my mother hurt again. I am conflicted. I want to be here, home, but I also want to continue learning skills on the outside and try to change the world around us, so the tribe can survive. So... I guess in the end, I do not know. I don't know the first thing about running something like Garden..." she explained, before loooking back at her father with her bright green eyes. "So what is your idea? K'ile when he gave me the invitation, suggested I be a representative between the tribe and outsiders. But I do not trust his judgments. Even now, I still remember him aiming his spear at me and telling me I was not welcomed and that I should leave. But... you... you genuinely care, or you would not be explaining and talking to me." she gave a weak smile.
-
K'ailia listened to her father tell what it truly meant. And it finally dawned upon her, what she had done. That was never her intention. She never wanted her tribe to die. "K'ailia, do you care about your family and the survival of this tribe?" She looked up at her father, this time as his daughter, "I still love my family. I love my mother, and my sisters. I want to help the tribe. Even if I cannot return to the tribe, I want to help the tribe." Her ears finally stood up, and her tail uncurled, "I'd do anything to help ensure the tribes safety. I am even willing to use Ul'dah Garden's resources, so mother wont have to deal with the bad merchants no more."
-
K'ailia's ears flattened, "It meant going out on ones own. To be away from family and make a life for themselves... I never wanted to leave home. But it felt like I was being forced away. K'ile telling me I was not welcomed around them..." Her tail curled between her legs, "And when he said he'd force me to mate... mother and K'haali never spoke against it..."
-
K'ailia felt herself being lifted up, then set on her feet. She was thankful at least her father would give her the dignity of walking out on her own feet with her head held high. She followed him through the camp. "Explain yourself." Her father had asked what she was hoping. She nodded, took a deep breath to steady herself before looking him in the eyes. "It began when I was sent away from the camp to Gridania. Or rather, when I returned. The family I thought of every day since I left, avoided me. Looked upon me as though I was a stranger, an outsider." she began, her ears going into a neutral state, as her tail held limp, but slightly curled, indicating her relaxed state. She motioned to the camp behind them, "I thought of nothing but the tribe, of the suffering of our people. And it took meeting with my sisters for us to come up with the idea of the tribe meeting." She lowered her hand, her ears drooped, "And when I joined the scouting team to Ul'dah, I had thoughts of leaving the tribe, because I could not bear seeing the tribe destroy itself. And when I tried to tell my mother, it ended in a bad fight." Taking a deep breath, to steady herself she continued, "But K'ile, the tia I did not much like, talked to me. I told him my feelings, and he got my mother and me back together. I put away my thoughts of leaving the tribe. He reassured me the tribe would not die. And... I expressed to him that I have no intentions of ever mating." She clenched her fists at that last bit before calming herself once more, though her tail was still slightly bristling, "When we got to Eastern Thanalan though, that's when things started going bad. It was storming, and K'haali and I split off in Drybone to ask about the area, while mother and K'ile took refuge in the Inn. When we got back though mother had ran away for no explained reason, forcing us to go out into the rain to try and find her." She looked back up at her father, "I was the one that found her, kneeling over a grave I knew nothing of, and we went and looked at a potential place for the tribe before returning to Drybone. We wen back to the spot, all four of us, and as we arrived, the rain stopped and Azeyma seemed to smile on us, as the sun shined on the land." "But then K'ile and mother wanted to scout an Amalj'aa camp, and they wanted me and K'haali to look around as well together. But that didn't happen. Haali went off on her own, and I was stuck waiting on everyone to get back. So I took visits to the town while waiting.", she said, her ears perking up, and her tail returning to it's relaxed state. She shook her head, "But then I got that letter from Gridania about K'tahjha. So I took it back to camp and found mother and K'ile hurt. K'haali said I should heal them since I was trained to do so. But neither wanted me to heal them. They wanted me to heal the other. So I used magic to mend both of them at the same time before speaking of the letter." Again her fists clenched, ears flattened, and her tail began bristling up again, "K'ile was opposed to taking the girl. He said they couldn't even make me into a proper tribe-mate. I wanted desperately to fit in, so I had offered to give myself over to be molded as he put it, into a proper tribe mate. But then K'ile told me to think twice because he would force me to mate. Even knowing my feelings towards that, he used it as a weapon to discourage me from learning." Her tail's tip began twitching, "Then came the day mother and I went to Ul'dah to meet Ventus. The meeting seemed to had gone well but then a few days later, I was called into the medical ward. Mother was hurt bad... she was going to die..." She looked once more up at K'yohko, "And I used my magic again, to save her, but she wasn't supposed to move for a couple days at least. But she got up and ran away, using the Aetherway. I was furious with her, she'd been running away a lot since we got to Drybone. So I took a guard with me, given him special knock out darts to use on me if I did anything out of line and tracked her down." Taking a deep breath she continued, "When I found her, K'ile immediately drew his spear and pointed it at my head. I was still quite furious, and I cast an earth spell that would of ended any chance of him ever becoming nuhn. But mother jumped in the way. I could tell... the two have a relationship, and I suspect it is on a mating level. K'ile had told me I was not welcomed and that I should leave. So I declared I was no longer part of the tribe." Her ears returned to a neutral state, but her tail's tip continued twitching, "then a few days ago, K'ile showed up in Ul'dah, shortly after mother brought me my things. He said he wanted me to come back to the tribe camp as an outsider, to represent outsiders and establish relations with the tribe. He apologized for his actions, and I agreed to the invitation." "He also told me, that mother's hip was broken. K'haz I thought had healed it. He was there when I found mother and K'ile. So I went to mother's inn room, and told her that K'ile met with me, and that I would be accompanying them back to this tribe camp, but I also knew about her hip and wanted to heal it, since I was the one that hurt her." she said, her tail finally ceasing it's twitching and returning to it's calmed state. Shaking her head she sighed, "Instead, mother got violent, throwing things at the door I was behind. She seemed to did not want to see K'ile, or have anything to do with me again. I lost my temper and broke the door down to try and calm her down. Instead, she yelled at me, and said I was disrespectful because I said she was behaving childishly. She ran away soon after and that was the last I saw of her." "So... then Ventus, went into a coma, and I became the new Headmaster of Ul'dah Garden. I thought of my family, and of the invitation that K'ile extended. I also remembered the ones who left the tribe, who ran away and never explain themselves. I did not want to be some coward who always runs away, never facing my past or my decisions. So I chose to return here, as an outsider, to offer the tribe Garden's aid in the move. And... to face whatever judgment the tribe would cast on me." she said. Her tail curled between her legs. "And what I have said is the absolute truth from my perspective. I was treated as an outsider, and told I was no longer welcomed. But I wont turn my back on the tribe. I still want to help protect the tribe, even if it is on the outside." she declared. She finally went silent. She had finally said, all she had wanted to say. And if her father now asked her to leave, she would do so with no argument. She held respect for the tribe, even after the burning powder. She felt now, her visit back, was no longer a waste of her time.

K'ailia said nothing as K'deiki spoke, was she dismissed then? Would none hear what she had to say? Why then did she bother taking the invitation and coming back, if she's not going to be able to explain herself, and instead being forbidden to speak on her own behalf of her experiences, and be sent away? But then her father moved fast towards K'nahli. She felt bad for her sister because it sounded like she was being forced down roughly. It took K'ailia time to understand they wanted her to pay attention and not speak. But she knew her sister was wiser at least. Or at least she hoped so. "I have proposal regarding K'ailia, but I would wish a moment in privacy with my wayward daughter first." Her father wished to speak with her privately? The one person she always wished she knew more of but knew almost nothing about, wanted to see her privately? Though she was still on edge with her father, if he was to be the one person willing to actually speak to her, and willing to actually hear her, of course she would agree. Keeping her head lowered she nodded quickly, signally she would agree to meet with him. And perhaps, this trip would not of been a mistake after all. "Unlike your children, you do not tremble at the thought of sand under your fingernails, do you? The sand is the desert; it is home. One cannot walk and never fall. You may have your moment in exchange for a moment spent at level with the sand, if it is worth it to you." K'takka would punish her father for speaking to her? Would they punish her mother? Would they punish K'ile? A lot of people had left the tribe over the years. K'ailia was starting to realize, if this continued, soon none could ever talk to anyone again. "A moment is more than those who abandon us deserve" K'jhanhi spoke, as though she was some vile criminal. Words of one who judges but will hear the one they accuse, of their side. Mind set, ears closed. If her father wished to risk it, then she would also agree to see him privately. Not saying a word, she nodded her head for her father, to let him know she agreed. She would meet with him, even if it was the last time. He had her curious. He'd be risking much she was sure. But if he was willing to speak to her, then she would honor his sacrifice.

K'luha sat in a rather quiet corner of the Quicksand. It was getting later and K'ile still hadn't returned. She was beginning to think he was never going to come back. Again. If she saw him again though, she was going to steal that stupid bracelet off his arm so she could go home at least. Luha yawned loudly and looked down at her table. She'd tried out four different drinks, each one making her relatively more tired. Her hip ached too much to stumble back to her room yet however, so she leaned forward on the table and yawned again. K'hai upon entering the quicksand took a deep sniff then found the trail he was after. Odd, why was his sister here? Following it, he rounded the room, till he realized, it was near the center of the room... one of the tables. He followed the scent till finally, he stood before K'luha's table. "Well don't you look like a sorry huntress just sitting there with city poison in your hands." he chided. K'luha blinked. A voice sounded familiar... she lifted her heavy head and looked with hazy eyes up at whatever was talking to her. Strange, it looked familiar. "Eh? How are... who are you to judge meee... mister... sir." K'luha huffed half-slurring her words before putting her head back on the table. K'hai sighed then went over to the tavern keeper and got a big bowl filled with water and returned to K'luha, took her by the air gently and lifted her head, moved the bowl into place then dunked her face into the cool water to try and sober her up. Lifting her head back up, he declared, "Wake up or you get another dunking.", he was clearly aggitated that his sister was in such a state. K'luha was happy enough to remain face down on the table sulking, but whoever it was had to go and dunk her face. She screeched and as her head was dunked into freezing cold water, tail bottle brushing and ears standing up. She snapped her head angrily towards her assualter, and reached up to dig her long sharp nails into his hands in an effort to release herself. "Get OFF! Who the FUCK do you think you are!?" she snarled furiously. K'hai released her before her claws can get to him, "Look at you. Don't even recognize your own brother. Have I changed that much?" He took a step back to let her breath and get her bearings. He crossed his arms over his chest, giving her his practically signature scowl. Though his muscle mass was gone, he had still toned up on his trip to Ul'dah. "What? Brother?" K'luha scowled and rubbed the water from her eyes. She paused, looking the male over. Miq'ote male... somehow familiar and yet not... K'luha wrung out her hair slowly, still looking him over. It couldn't be... could it? K'hai deadpans, did he really change that much that his own sister don't even recognize him? "I know I've lost some of my muscles. Being asleep for almost four years would do that... But I assure you, new of my death have been greatly exaggerated..." he said. 'Really?' he thought, 'I changed so much she can't even remember me?' Four years...? Then...? K'luha's ears raised a bit and she looked K'hai over incredously. "Hai...?" she asked slowly, face dropping into a pale shocked expression. K'hai smiled, "Ah finally sobering up I see. Why you drinking that city poison sister? And why aren't you with my niece?" He walked back to the table and sat in the chair, setting his Macuahuitl against the table. "K'hai...? Is it... it's really you?" K'luha asked breathlessly, grabbing the edge of the table for support. K'hai nodded, "Aye. I'm not entirely sure what happened myself. I just know I woke up in another land." He sighed, "But I thought of nothing but home. I was too weak to return until now. And even now, I feel ill." "I-i... d-don't..." K'luha stammered, reaching forward to touch his hand. "I-is it r-really you? T-they said you d-died... I thought.. i-it had b-been so long I-i thought y-you were dead..." K'hai placed his other hand over hers, "It's me. Seems Azeyma did not wish to take me that day five years ago." "W-why... I don't..." Luha grasped shakily at his hand with both of her own hands and pressed her forehead down. "K'hai... h-how...? I thought... I-i had given up s-so long ago..." K'hai looked down at the table for a moment, before looking back to her, "All I remember were garleans everywhere, fire, fighting... then the red moon over us exploded and I felt crystals and stones assault me..." He took a deep breath, "Then I felt something else wash over me. I can't explain it. But then I woke up to a girl telling me I had something called Aether Sickness." K'luha shook her head no against his hands and shivered, clinging to her lost brother like he might vanish again. K'hai looked deep into her eyes, "What has happened? I can tell something is wrong." "N-no I... only... I just... I never thought... you would come h-home..." K'luha stammered, still shivering in her seat. K'hai frowned to himself. She was still hiding something. But what? But he gave her a reassuring smile, "How has the tribe faired? Little K'ailia should of had her trials by now right?" "K-k'ailia's... s-she left the tribe..." Luha stammered out, she couldn't look up at her brother. She could barely comprehend his reappearance. K'hai frowned at this news. His favored niece... left the tribe? Then... "She's heading for the tribe camp apparently." he said point blank. K'luha looked up suddenly at K'hai. "What?" He nodded, "Before I followed your scent, I recognized hers. She had apparently boarded one of them flying monstrosities and was being taken to Sagolii." "A... flying monstrosties?" she stammered again, grabbing roughly at his hands again. K'hai nodded, "If she's left the tribe, I do not know what business she would have going to the tribe camp. Returning would be very dangerous for her." K'luha looked to the ground, biting at her bottom lip. Why would K'ailia go back to the tribe? Was... was it because K'ile had invited her!? But she couldn't go back! K'ile wasn't even... "K'hai..." K'luha looked up to her brother. "Please go find K'ile. I don't know where he went off to but... you have to make him go back to the tribe right away!" K'ailia Yohko: K'hai frowned, "What does K'ile have to do with this?" All while grabbing his Macuahuitl, "before I do though, what is his involvement?" Even K'luha would know of his deep distrust of K'ile even when they were kits. And if that tia had something to do with K'ailia doing something so foolish, he would know before going after him. "He invited K'ailia to go back to the tribe, I don't know if she took the invitaiton, but that's the only reason I can think of for her to go back!" K'luha shook her head sadly and bit her bottom lip. "You have to find him. Make him come back here or go back to the tribe. I can't go back until the he comes back with me but... you have to... I can't look for him myself... my hip is still broken so, you have to look for him for me!" K'hai growled deeply, a rumbling sound upon hearing both that K'ile invited an exile back to the tribe, and that his sister's hip was broken. Without another word, the tia lept over the table and over a railing before shoving open the exit and was bounding through the streets trying to catch K'ile's scent. He knew his niece was naive. And for a tribe member to invite her back to the tribe, knowing their laws, and what could happen to her, he would ensure that K'ile went back to the tribe even if he had to drag him there himself. He may not be as bulky as he used to be, but his speed was still just as good, as he quickly caught the scent and charged through the streets. K'luha sat shakily at the table as K'hai suddenly dashed off to hopefully find K'ile. She could only hope that he found K'ile before it wa too late... there was no telling what the elders would do if K'ailia whent back to the tribe alone... Unable to go very far, K'luah pressed her hands to her face and shivered in her seat.

Sorry I found this video, and I totally thought of this thread: dPBn_5jer1g I think overall, it still comes down to personal preferences. Some people believe in evolution. Others don't. Some people think miqo'te are one thing. Others believe another. Again, it comes down to personal preferences. Debates are good, but when they go around in circles, with one side trying to convince the other side they are wrong, and the other side is doing the same, it doesn't end well. That's why I think everyone should agree to respect each other's play styles, and worry about how they themselves RP their miqo'te, and less on how others roleplay their miqo'te. Me, I try my best to stay within lore, as I am sure we all do. And I am sure everyone has their own different interpretation on the lore. My own interpretation is that the miqo'te are based on cats. To what degree, is completely up to me. And I tend to use in game to figure out my own acceptable limits. I look at the U tribe for example, and I definitely see a lot of lion pride basis. And it fits with the lore supplied as well. The game also supports those who want a more human feel, as we seen with the arcanist questlines, though we also saw in the same questlines, some feline tendancies as well. So when it comes to debates, probably the best tactic in them, is to just put out your opinion and if someone offers an opinion you disagree with, respect that it is their opinion, unless they want clarifications or whatever. That's the stance I tend to take. Also, definitely surprising that we will see mention of inter-species breeding later down the road. I wonder if we will be seeing an actual cross-bred character in some form? That could be interesting, though be kinda odd if they take like a Roegadyn and give him/her Miqo'te features . Or even something half miqo, half lala. Though thinking about that... that would be like too damn cute!!!
-
My view on Miqo'te is this. They are a race of humanoid cats. They evolved similarly to humans who started out as apes. Over time they stood upright, lost most of the fur, except the hair on the heads, and their tails and ears. Their bodies are decidedly a lot more athletic than your typical Hyur and other races. They live in a tribal culture, but I do believe they would still retain their racial demeanor of being cat-like. You see it even in their emotes. When my miqo'te gets furious, her tail stands up and fuzzes out, ears flatten and she looks like an angry cat that happened to have a human-like features. So I tend to play my character very feline-like. Be it climbing, playing, or whatever. She's a wild spirit that is adventurous. She even has been known to stalk little animals like butterflies and such. If I wanted to RP a human, I'd have a Hyur. In fact I do have a couple Hyur characters. Instead I rolled a Miqo'te who is a cat who happens to have human-like features. So there are people who prefer playing humans with tails. And then there's those like myself who play cats with human features. Neither side should be telling the other they play the race right or wrong. It's up to the individual's own interpretations. Square has given us some pretty good in game examples of miqo'te as well. From the U tribe's growling, the keeper's "meow" instead of "now", scenes were miqo'te do leaping jumps. I definitely do believe miqo'te embrace their feline aspects. And why shouldn't they? Miqo'te are graceful, agile, and are outstanding hunters. So I end my post with... meow!

K'ailia continued sitting with her face down, listening to the elders. She then thought on what K'deiki had said. Funny how the elder judged her based on her mothers behavior, without even knowing just what had actually happened. She seemed to think K'ailia thought of only herself, yet she never once stopped thinking of the tribe, or of ensuring the tribes safety. K'ailia heard all the elders. She heard her father too. Yet all seemed to speak, with ears and minds closed. But she also knew her mother well. If her mother were here, the bowl never would of been placed over her head, and the powder would be thrown to the wind. Despite her faults, her mother was still the most important thing to her, and she knew she was still important to her mother. K'deiki had said that she did not want K'ailia to watch her family crumble. That had already happened. K'piru had left the tribe. Most of the family was killed. Even her own favorite uncle was said to be dead. When she came back from Gridania, she saw her family suffering, and the elders at first rejecting the notion of leaving Sagolii. It took the young ones like herself, getting together and came up with the idea of a tribe meeting. And she did her part, she delivered the message given her by Ventus, offering aid to the tribe. And K'ile's attitude earned him her ire that night. But now... Ventus was in a coma, and she was now Headmaster of Ul'dah Garden. She was now in a position to offer aid to her tribe. If they agreed to the move, she could help secure a safe passage for the tribe. Her own mother would no longer need to goto Ul'dah, and face the merchants that have hurt her in ways she had no idea on. But in order to begin helping the tribe, the elders must allow her to speak her proposal. But then her ears twitched, hearing her elder sister's arrival. She suspected her sister would be treated much like she was. Especially with speaking upon entering. The situation was already tense. But then she felt the tickling sensation in her chest. The powder that had invaded her lungs. She had almost forgotten about it. Her body's aether had finished gathering it into one place. But unfortunately her body reacted on its own. She pulled the bowl off her head just has she felt herself take a deep breath and coughed up mucus filled with the powder. A couple more coughs and she started breathing normally once more. Her body had rejected the powders invasiveness. She rested the bowl on the bones and the remaining powder, but kept her head bowed, not looking at her father, the elders, or even K'nahli. But she also readied herself in case her father decided to try subjecting her to more powder. She went back to waiting, to staying silent, listening, all the while a shielding spell in her mind, readied in case she needed it.

Well my character had went to Gridania and had learned conjury. However when she joined Ul'dah garden (Much against her tribes wishes lol) and explored the Sunken Temple of Qarn, which was a temple of azeyma back in the days when white and black magic were pretty common, she found a soul crystal of a white mage of old. In fact the soul contained inside was one of the teachers. So that is how she became a white mage. As for the white mage clothes, the Seedseer when she returned to Gridania and showed the crystal and told of what the crystal had taught her, realized she could not unlearn what she had learned. So they taught her why white mages became limited, and trained her in the more modern style so she doesn't follow the path the white mages of the past took, which nearly destroyed Eorzea. That's just an example of how I worked it to still comply with lore.
