Lady Bartel's [Art Commissions] (~OPEN~)
ArmachiA replied to Lady Portia Bartel's topic in Artisan House
Lady Bartel is pretty easy to work with for special requests, mine was literally "Do whatever and give me a price" and she said okay Now... if only she was on when I was so I can pay her. >.> -
Berrod, your excitement in this thread is adorable. Just sayin.

People who do not have the Echo can be a Warrior of Light (From the Carteneau variety), anyone who was on the battlefield and in range of Louisoix's spell was skipped ahead. Remember it was Louisoix who skipped everyone ahead, not Hydaelyn . THere is no actual concrete lore on this however, so it has to stay in the Subjective pile.
-
I think we can all agree that certain things are Subjective and certain things are objective. Subjective: Primals Always Temper, All Warriors of Light have the Echo, etc Objective: There is only but one Slayer Azure Dragoon born into a generation, Elementals told people who weren't the Padjal to eff off. I think anything in the subjective pile is interesting to discuss but on an RP stand point your free to play it as fast and loose as you want. Anything Objective is locked behind a lore gate. This is actually why I like discussing lore, it's my favorite subject after all - player and game lore - , because discussions warrant what is and what is not subjective. As a player you can't possibly know everything and someone else may know something you don't.

PSA: Stop wasting money on level IV materia for Novus
ArmachiA replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV Discussion
In my mind, it's just not worth it for me to do all that work on a model I hate when I have a perfectly fine 110 level bow right now (Though, granted, Nexus goes to 115 now) glamour or not. I'll get to it eventually - I'm fairly certain they said model changes were coming soon. Currently, my bow is up-to-date so I'm not in a huge hurry. I'll probably do it all in 2.4. I don't want to get TOO far behind, after all. -
Trying to play an Echo-less summoner would be silly right from the get-go. In fact, trying to play as anyone who canonically fought a primal without the Echo is silly. The game gives you the option for a reason, just go ahead and take it. You don't win any points just for refusing to be a Warrior of Light, you know? Don't forget the Company of Heros defeated Titan. Without Echo. It's certainly doable. Maybe not to a small group of average adventurers, but if the primal isn't going to temper, it's feasible to say a mob would take them down. Eventually. *Tidus.

Thats fine, there are ways around it. Warrior of Light is people with the Echo? I thought WoL was the ones at Carteneau (Who may or may not have the Echo based on how confused his team looks at Derplander whenever he jumps into an Echo memory yet were still skipped ahead)
-
This is actually a good point, because I can't argue that there is any lore and proves that the first move a Primal does is Temper. In fact, there is lore to the contrary (Ramuh, Garuda, Titan) and Ifrit may not temper all the time, just that specific fight. If people want to argue that the Primals didn't TRY to Temper their character then I can't argue back. I'm fine with that though. That's what lore discussion is for!

PSA: Stop wasting money on level IV materia for Novus
ArmachiA replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I've yet to start the Atma Animus Novus Nexus chain (I just got all my weapons from Raiding) but I may look into this for the future. I'm really just waiting for a remodel because I dislike the Relic Bow and I hate the glows. Urgh. -
Honestly, the only source of contention is White Mage. You can even be a Dragoon pretty easily as long as you don't run around calling yourself The Slayer The Azure Dragoon. Summoner looks difficult but it's actually easy enough to bypass, the HARDEST is actually fighting a Primal and not get tempered if your character doesn't have the Echo.

Not for nothing, but I don't really owe Yoshi-P the benefit of the doubt here. I'm paying him to provide me a service, just like everyone else is. He isnt my friend, I don't -know- him. Sure he seems like an affable guy and is generally respected, but that doesn't mean I owe him any kind of benefit of the doubt. At the end of the day he's a business man who needs to make money for a failing company and his game is one of the only reasons said Company is even in the black currently. Do I think that means they will hold back information from their playerbase so they don't lose people? Absolutely. This game has to be a success for them. There is no other option. This doesn't even mean I dislike Yoshi-P. I like the guy. I've defended him all over the place, I think his heart is generally in the right place. But that means literally nothing because I like a -persona-. I don't know who he really is. And even my best friends will get called out when they are acting Shady. You want me to treat Yoshi-P better than my actual friends? He's being called out and he deserves it. There are varying degrees of called out from mildly annoyed to extremely angry that they quit the game. All of them are valid. Sure, it may blow over. I'll stop being mad at my friend who was shady, too. But let them be mad right now.

Then he should have said so MONTHS AGO. Not the night of the patch, not after the patch. He could have said it during 2.35 and this could have been solved. They never updated their stance, even the thing that Warren linked wasn't clear "We may be doing this one thing, or we may be doing something else. We dunno" and then when personal rooms came out they still didn't really say much on personal housing. It's not gonna ever sit right with me that they refused to keep people apprised of what was going on.
-
A lie by ommision is still a lie. If they didn't update their stance in the 9 months that they said it, it's a lie. I find it weird people are going "Well it was 9 months ago when they said that." and not, "Why didn't they update their position in the 9 months they had?" It's weirdly shady. Doesn't sit right with me. And YES, saying "Wait and see" is a very polite form of saying "shut up" btw.

A lot of you are harping on cost. I don't really care what the cost is. Yes I get it's supposed to be a big ticket item in the game and accept that (I have my own personal house, Ward 7, Plot 29 in the Goblet if you don't believe me. Cost was never an issue) Cost is fine. It's the promises they made and didn't deliver on that irk me and everyone else. I certainly don't like the fact they didn't tell us before hand what was going on when they had plenty of time to do so and keep us updated. WHY did they stay strangely hush hush about it? This could have been solved months ago. And it's only been a week, so it's cool that your telling the player base to get over it already. .
-
Them working on other things isn't really the point. They promised the player base they were working on personal housing for 9 months, and because they never gave an update like that should have, everyone assumed that meant it's own area - not flipping a little switch. What else they were working on is irrelevant. They promised something and didn't come close to delivering. At BEST they were disingenuous, at WORST they flat out lied.

I am excite! My big crew decided to rent a house together just a couple miles from the Rio so 15 of us are going to be livin it up all fancy like. It's 3 Chocobo's Wing members, 2 Grim Echo members, and 10 Night Blades. El Curago, who is a professional chef in real life, is driving up with his wife and is going to cook for us every night in order for us to save money on food. But all of us are flying in on the third so on that day we're going out to Sushi :3 I'm really excited. Some of the people going I've known for 5+ years and haven't met them yet. And I finally get to try Curago's cheesecake after all these years of him bragging about it.

I don't mind if the Devs believe that Personal Housing, or FC housing, should be something people should work toward. I don't mind it at all. I may not AGREE completely, since other games just hand you personal housing like candy, but that's their design decision and I can respect that. I don't think it's fair for it to be so limiting though and it is something they need to address. If housing is going to be something to work for with gil, it should be available WHEN YOU HAVE THE GIL. It's only fair. My FC has two houses (One in Lavender Beds and one in Mist) and I have a personal home (In the Goblet) but I understand and will always understand the issues and why people are upset. Especially the whole lying thing, left a bad taste in my mouth.

Armi will die foolishly, but bravely. In her storyline she was a priestess of Nymeia, believing in the weavings of Fate, and her fate was spun to be "You will die before you truly live." and Armi is a bit of a martyr. She wants to die with a purpose. I honestly don't see her living past 30.

Requests Flat Color. I'd like 2 (One of my character and one of my Fiance's) but if you don't want to, that's fine
-
I'm in on Armi, she would love this sort of thing.

The thing is, SE has flat out admitted they are running on some crappy outdated hardware and coding. I don't know if you paid attention to when 1.0 went down and started being rebuilt but they were pretty frank that they had to build on the old teams code and the old teams code was TERRIBLE. I should really find some of the things some people found out, but their hands were tied because 1.0 players needs to keep everything intact. Servers were also effect by this because, even though they bought some new servers, they are still running on the backs of the old ones. I wish the beta/alpha forums still existed because a lot of information was tossed in their that is no longer available. Don't quote me on this, but I remember them saying most of these issues would be fixed come the first expansion since it would be the first time ARR wasn't relying on 1.0 at all. I remember this, I even remember the "please be patient" apology in the beta forums. We'll see if I'm making shit up when Fanfest happens and they talk about the expansion. If big changes are coming, this I probably remembered correctly. If not, then wishful thinking became a memory

2.38 - What's changed? Awesome things that are happening
ArmachiA replied to Kage's topic in FFXIV Discussion
am I the only one who hates the glows? Cuz I do. SE is trying to make us all blind. -
"How not to let bleed through happen." Is a pretty valid conversation to have, really, and one I think needs to happen more often than it actually does in RP communities. Even when we teach people just jumping in, we tend to gloss over the IC/OOC relationship and the line we all tread. I think it's a great thing you admitted to doing it and want to take steps to prevent it from messing with you or from happening again. I know you're well liked in the community and would hate to see the Ul'dah group lose you.

RP can get to people. It can get to a lot of people. You become VERY attached to your character, especially if they have a lot of you in them (Which new RPers tend to do as a jumping off point). I've been RPing for 15 years, I cry when something sad happens or get happy when something good happens - you get attached. That's okay. However, there are some kinds of RP some people can never do because they step over the line of OOC attachment. It's always helpful to figure out exactly what kind of RP sets you off. For instance (Not saying you do any of these, of course, these are just examples:) ~ Overly Dramatic Plots. Could be too sad or too upsetting, generally. ~ Romance RP: the EASIEST to get too attached too. I actually recommend new RPers don't romance RP until they get the basics down. ~ Triggering Storylines (Murder, Rape, Torture, etc): This one is pretty obvious. I RPed with someone my first six months in the game who RPed with us for everything except when the plot turned "dark" (She decided when that was) and would come back when it was resolved. She told us she just really couldn't handle the darker plotlines in RP and we respected that. She's quit the game now, but we never had an issue with her. I also know plenty of people in my guild who are a solid, firm no on Romance RP. RP is supposed to be fun, if something is triggering negative emotions, you are allowed to say "I can't really be involved with that, sorry" and take a step back till the story is concluded. If people try to push you into it any way or try to convince you it will be fine - they are being completely jerky about it and you don't have to rp with them. All of this is kind of me babbling. There are steps you can take, but you feel like your in too deep now so taking a bit of a break is probably for the best. If you feel like your addicted to the game, that's a whole other issue that can really only be resolved by not playing or - if you can do it - playing only 1 or 2 hours a day. Taking a step back and figuring out what was and wasn't fun then staying on the "This is fun" side is very important. And if nothing hits the "This is fun" side then stop doing it all together Edit: From the above statement it sounds like you think RP is fun? Or you think your obligated to do it because you're a popular character/your friends do it?
