Learning how to separate ooc and ic emotions is something that a lot of new roleplayers struggle with, don't feel too bad about it. Take some time off, get your head straight, see if you really liked RP and maybe get advise from some veterans on how to keep those two separate. It's never hurts to ask people.

Calling All Garleans and Ala Mhigan Resistance Players! [Balmung]
ArmachiA replied to Tiergan's topic in RP Discussion
NB has a wholllleee slew of Garlean alts and we're friends with a Garlean themed FC -
I'm interested, do you want me to PM you?

It's that time o' month again. I dn't have much to report since it's 6:18am when I remembered to do this. Sooo.. NB has officially hit T9! Hurray.
-
You were in our guild for a few months and were one of the more popular members when you were there. We appreciated having your enthusiasm, optimism, and honesty around, everyone really missed you when you left. I hope whatever is going on, you find some peace of mind.

Got to 2% on T8 with my FC static on Sunday. We go in again tonight and I'm sure we'll clear it. T9 here we come! I'm grateful for my FC. It's a delicate balance we play constantly maneuvering between Endgame/RP/Social and it's a lot of work most of the time, considering how large it is, but I wouldn't do it if I didn't love the people. 15 of us are going to Vegas for fanfest, even sharing a house together, and it is going to be the wildest ride ever. I personally have a lot of luck in this game, for which I am happy for. I run a good FC with a large mansion, I have a pretty dedicated endgame FC static that I run with, I have my own personal house now, I have a lot of RP connections and am never wanting for RP, the mansion always has people RPing in it at night, I know how to make pretty decent gil. I enjoy all aspects of the game and don't fill unfulfilled in any of them. I am a rarity. For that I am grateful.

Doesn't seem like there's any restrictions so far. I got the Garden up, put my Aetheryte down and it now says "Teleport - Personal." on my list. Seems it's exactly the same, yeah.

If you're talking about PADS you have to register your character to the site to give it permission to scroll you

That makes an even narrower sample size. I could cite the BG T9 kill rates for Balmung and it's not really any more accurate. I'm not trying to argue, really, I just wanted to know where the number came from. Statistics, made up on the spot, etc. Some anecdote. Someone scrawled both sites with a program to get those numbers. They did it when the Echo Bonus first came out as well and found that number was 15% have cleared. It's now 40%. Again can't find the source and it's not 100% accurate, obviously. (Googling "T5 + stats + clears" brings up nothing ; ; )

People are always allowed and justified to be upset when they've been lied to. I don't really care what about. When it comes to business and people are paying to use your product - people are absolutely allowed to get mad when they find out they've been lied to. There's a certain amount of trust Yoshi-p has built up. He fixed a dead game. He said big patches would come every three months and he delivered. For the most part, he's been frank and honest and that's WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT HIM. So when he said Personal Housing was going to be far more affordable and going to be different than FC housing areas. We believed him, why wouldn't we? He's been mostly honest and anything that wasn't completely honest mostly felt like an oversight rather than a lie. Were some of us worried about pricing being higher than they said? Yes, I was one of them. But I figured that they would say something beforehand before the patch. Nope, silence. So I thought all was well. With that trust built up it makes the lie THAT MUCH MORE disappointing. That much more enraging. This reaction doesn't surprise me at all. Let them rage. SE deserves it, there is no defense for this.

Gardening is, quite frankly, one of the biggest issues with all of this. They've locked gardening behind house ownership, and so those of us who genuinely want to experiment on our own are basically out in the cold. Yeah, you can garden for your FC, if someone else isn't already in charge, but it's not the same as being able to experiment yourself. Me and Curago talked about this this morning. He said if it was possible to give permissions for certain Garden plots (Since we have three) he would let people do "experiments" on one for anyone who wanted to be a Temporary Gardener. Unfortunately it's not an option and even if it was its just a bandaid, since anyone could ask for that rank. Currently, if we let people use the Garden we break the Jute/Glazenut/Onion pattern and ugh that sucks. The whole situation is terrible. I don't blame anyone for being angry.

Can I get a source on this? I didn't think we had server stats for this sort of thing. Someone scrawled through the Lodestone to get those stats, this of course doesn't make it 100% accurate if your achievements are off, but it's a good indicator. Alas, I can't find the source now. Enh, achievements are hidden by default and that doesn't take into account alts/retired/quit etc. I'm not sure it's a good measure of anything. Hell, most people I know have never bothered logging into the Lodestone since there's not a lot it offers. Registering your character to XIVPADS the default is achievements being on, I believe.

Yes. And have, I killed off Armi in FFXI. I would do it without question in a narrative if it made sense. In a battle with another player though I have a very staunch rule I follow - I will not let my character die if THEIR character cannot also be killed. It's only fair. I also do not want her dying in a way that's not important or epic (Sorry!) and I - not you - get to decide what that means. So she's... 80% permakillable.

There are many games that brought disappointments and that is why the only subbed games right now are WoW and FFXIV. Because the devs weren't honest, weren't putting out enough content, or being generally disrespectful to their playerbase. This hits all three buttons. Personal Housing is the game to some people, to a lot of people. Did you know that 60% of the server hasn't even cleared T5? Raiding isn't enjoyable or isn't an option to some people. This game is pretty much all raiding. The casual content is pretty sparce, a lot of more casual players were looking forward to personal housing to start Gardening or whatever. It's important to them. Its why Wildstar gives you a house for free, and why Rift has entire dimensions you can build. Making a peice of a game "your own" not only is something people think is important, but inspires loyalty in the product. And there are a lot of casual players out there. I'm not sure how this is hard to understand.
-
I think you still missed my point. Even if everyone is angry, would it be enough to quit the game forever because of housing issues? Yes, absolutely. I've seen games fail in months because their player base was lied to.
-
^ You underestimate the need for your own thing in games. Personal housing in all games is becoming standard. The Japanese are livid over this.
-
You're wrong about Personal Housing. It was originally supposed to be personal housing and they changed it to FC housing. They said it was because of the server infrastructure. He said it would be cheaper than FC housing, he said it would be different than FC housing. The quote all over the official forums right now is damning. Calling out SE for a lie is justified. This could have been solved months ago if they just would have told us this was going to happen on a day that WASN'T PATCH DAY. This could have been handled a lot better. They deserve what they get. (I actually did get my personal house, but that isn't the point. At all.)
-
^ That would probably give him a house in a day

English Naming Conventions vs. Japanese Naming Conventions
ArmachiA replied to Ackermans's topic in FFXIV Discussion
In the game? There isn't one, the conventions for naming are the same in English and Japanese as far as I'm aware. The first namingway site for FFXIV came out was Japanese, which gave us the same exact names that the English conventions confirmed. http://fandango.exp.jp/name-generator.php -
Yeaahhhh, I had a lot of trouble with this too, it's why Armi is an ex-priestess and not a current one. There was just hardly any lore available on the deities and how people worship them or whatever.
