My eventual plan is to make Armi an Eorzean idol/popstar! Which is bard, so... Actually once Red Mage comes out, I'm probably going to figure out a way to lean Armi in that direction, though a friend of mine already has an idea for her and Armi to try guns when Musketeer comes out. The big issue with Red Mage is that Armi is really bad at magic, like really really bad at it. She can't really control it very well so I'd have to find a way around that.

Armi is wealthier than I (I only have a few million to my name after buying a house ; she didn't spend a dime of her money when she worked at her more shady job back in 1.0 and it just kind of built up. She is very rich, but she doesn't really talk about it. She does have a closet full of very expensive clothes that she never wears because she's too frightened to, but they all look very pretty.

My group is large, so we're going to be able to have more than 8 people so they may need a little help: Armi Ellion Goto M'wanthala Euphie Nad'rael X'havir Haru Stanzie Siben Tawinous Fyrhym (formally Itar for those who know him) So we're down for moving and shaking around.

This is basically me in a nutshell. Though I enjoy plots, and set up MANY to keep the FC happy, I'm way more interesting in introspective, personal, character drama. I don't like shallow characters, I like characters who have so much depth to them you could rp with them for months and still not feel like you know them.

I think of it like yen. 100 yen = 1 dollar 1000 yen = 10 dollars 10000 yen = 100 dollars and so on.

I would looovvee to play a haughty snobby aristocrat type so is shallow and devoid of much depth but she's funny and snarky and thinks she has it all figured out but is actually completely clueless as to how the real world works (Think Cher from Clueless) I think the archetype is funny as hell, but it just wouldn't work in an RP setting because no one would LIKE HER. They wouldn't be forced to interact with her and I would be alone most of the time Ugh. As if.

Well, you know what they say... Something to keep in mind in all of this discussion is that there is a huge difference between writing about a subject, and fully endorsing said subject. In the above example it was made very clear that what the sisters did was wrong. Correct, though I was just pointing out the Bible has some pretty odd stories of it's own

True! Though that's more poetic. I wanted to show something more visceral than "climbing palm trees" to "grab fruit". I was gonna bring up verse 18, but then I was like "naaah." Old Testament was pretty lewd and interesting book to read comparing to New Testament. My holy book has better sex stories, like this one time, when our trickster god became a mare and had sex with another horse to make a baby horse with eight legs. Beat that level of weird bible! Three sisters tricked their dad into having sex with them in a cave but getting him drunk off wine and pretending to be other people. Incest. Bam.

This brings to mind when people think you should go to party? I've gone to party for just when a kiss last longer than two sentences (Where my partner said something --> I say something --> He says something --> go to party) even if we don't erp because I don't want to inconvenience anyone and make them uncomfortable. EVEN THEN, I not really comfortable with PDA in front of other rpers anyway. If my character is in an RP relationship we can use our own time to slobber all over each other. I wonder what's an acceptable line to most people?

I am pretty well known for only surrounding myself with people who stay true to lore, since I'm really big on lore (honestly the number who don't is relatively small but that's another conversation) and talk about it a lot of these very forums, but honestly I don't see those people running around being vampires or whatever - they can go do that in their own corner, they don't really bother me. Hell, we may even talk oocly, I'm generally pretty open to meeting new people. I just don't want to be apart of lore breaking. I don't expect people to want to ERP (Gross, why would I?) it's a personal choice. I just don't want to see people judged, good people, Good RPers, judged because they do it within the context of the narrative. Rping sex is like rping torture or murder, like anything else if your uncomfortable - don't do it. But understand some people may. And that's okay. Generally. The Song of Solomon in the bible is a poem that celebrates Sexual Love. Seriously.

Maybe it's your English but your point is getting lost in the "I blacklist all ERPers." "You shouldn't do it at all." "I don't want to know your ERP circle." which comes off as exceedingly judgemental and I felt it was a bit unfair and harsh. Ignorant in this context wasn't a negative thing and really just meant lack of knowledge, maybe I should have used naive? And I said "If you don't believe..." not that you haven't read any fiction. I have in fact come across people who believe any sex, ANY SEX, in fiction means it's smut or porn. ANY. I'm friends with this person. We butt heads about it regularly. I was wondering what your position was because you are making very blanket statements about the narrative benefits of ERP. (And for the sake of "the internet" this isn't an aggressive post, I'm being very neutral here.)

Ahhhh now that is not fair at all. I know and was part of ArmachiA's FC for a long time and it is very unfair to paint a broad brush like this. I don't know how many or how often folks erp'ed because folks are usually discreet but the RP I experienced from folks around ArmachiA and herself has been very typical non-sex based RP. Fighting Garleans, looking for artifacts, etc. So it's really unfair to paint it as a "circle of people" around her. >< I have an erp cabal. The erp illuminati if you will. No one said it was a problem. You're just painting all ERPers with a wide brush here and I'm correcting you for the sake of other people who may want to listen to the discussion, as you don't really seem to want to discuss it. And I don't have a circle, I don't rp with a lot of these folks, I've just had very frank talks with a lot of them oocly and, get this, NEVER JUDGED. I know, shocking.

^ UH no. because "Freedom of speech" doesn't exist in an MMO since it's run by a private business. ERP is against TOS, most RPers are smart enough to take it to /party. I know this because a lot, a lot more than will admit, ERP. THey are very discreet about it. You're assuming a lot here. Oh, bubbie. I can name quite a few people on this very site who ERP.

Well, yes. It should be common sense to never do that in say (Even if you own a private house, don't do it in say, it's still against TOS guys). It's never okay to be raunchy in public. Don't do it.

I think it has to because of things like this: Which is a fairly ignorant statement and blankets RPers who do it. If you beleive sex serves no narrative point at all, you aren't even looking at any form of fiction over the last 10,000 years.

Uh, hm. Console games, a lot more Table Top games. I'd probably be into local theater a lot more since MMO RP wouldn't be scratching the itch I have to act anymore. Definitely would have finished writing a few novels by now. Reading, a lot of reading. I spent most of my time on the internet reading, so it would just transfer to books.
