Don't feel bad if you are the cliche. Every character ever has some aspect of cliche about them. Doesn't hurt to talk about common tropes though.

^ THis. When you come from a table top background, you certainly role your own characters 90% of the time. Tumblr is a whole different beast rooted in Fandom, MMO RPing is not the same. Not even a little close.

I just checked and Balmung actually seems to be the only server WITHOUT the name. As for the question. I'm not really comfortable rping with any character that an outright stealing of someone elses character (Regardless if they are retrofited for the universe). As an author, it bugs me. I wouldn't RP with any proclaiming to be Sam or Dean Winchester - complete with name, personalities, etc - so I wouldn't do it with anime character. No offense, but to ME (and only me) it feels like theft.

I think the RPC's been around since 1.0! Also for the topic: Bara Highlander Males Bolded for completely random and extreme relevance. Guilty Barrod is gay? This is the most disappointing news of my life. Cliche's? Past me seems to think it was pirates, but that's not it at all! I think the biggest Cliche in the game is RPers actually attempting to make Miqote Harems because the lore says that's a thing. It is so common at this point I just assume all Miqote have 80 bajillion lovers.* (*I actually don't think polyamory is bad, don't get it twisted. But in the game it's overdone.)

I think the only reason I'm in my static is to make sure I have paeon running at all times for the Monks (Especially in T8). I'm pretty used to getting yelled at for not singing

I asked questions about the Twelve, because it bugs me we're supposed to worship them yet know nothing about them. Give us some info, SE! I think I'll ask about the Elementals, too. I'm just figuring out how to word it right.

I have a dummy FC strictly for the Rum and Rumble in Mist I could volunteer the rooms for for this. There would be no structure (I'm busy running the Night Blades ; or any overarches storyline or anything. You'd just use the RnR to get to your room OOC and could say your room was ANYWHERE ICly. The only thing I would ask is that the RnR stays as is.

I'm not really sure of my own connection to my Shroud (Armi grew up there but doesn't like going back for.... reasons) but if you guys do anything storylines about Elementals and such I want to be there. The Shroud has some great lore, really. To bad Gridania is such a ponce-y place.

He said "Personal Housing will be separate than FC house and therefore much more affordable." This isn't what happened. Yes he said it 9 months ago, but he never updated the position. If you say your mother is alive 9 months ago and never tell me she died 3 months ago, I'm gonna assume she's still alive. That's how updates work. Keep people informed or their going to refer to your last on the record stance.

While I agree that Anonymoose's theory is good for the MSQ PC themselves, and some gameplay cutscenes - I don't think it has much bearing on the roleplay lore. Of course all the MSQ people are going to have the Echo so you get special cut scenes to show this. This doesn't really show probable evidence that all Twelvesblades had the Echo. In fact, he just makes a weird logical leap in his assertion without any evidence to back it up, it's just "The Twelvesblades couldn't have done what they did without the Echo." and it's over. No other explanation. It really only explains you, as the player, in the MSQ and nothing else. As RPers we pretty much disregard it. There's just a lot of questions about the Battle of Carteneau that lore doesn't answer.

You're definitely confused here. They all have the Echo. Every one of them. Some manifest them sooner or later and/or more or less overtly than others but every one of the Derplander's companions are blessed by Hydaelyn. They are all stand-ins for player characters, and thus possess all the traits common to player characters. It may be best to take this conversation to the official lore forums in hopes that posters more knowledgeable than I can make clarifications on the matter, but I thought this was pretty clear. There's no proof of this. Like, none. I'm not sure whats so hard to understand that there is no proof that everyone in Carteneau had the Echo. Because there is no proof. We can argue circumstantial evidence all day, but there is no proof either way. Until there is proof, we can argue what we believe till we're blue in the face. It's SUBJECTIVE.

THere's literally no proof of this. If you look at the Derplander storyline (Thep laceholder for all PCs in 1.0) his friends, who also were transported through time according to the beginning of the story, do not have the Echo. In fact, the cutscene can be taken as they don't even know he has the Echo or they rely on his Echo powers in order to pick the cool missions "Looks who's returned from his reverie." "So kind of you to join us again." *Derplander stares* "Well, don't keep us in suspense." Can be taken either way. What is absolutely looks like it neither of them have the echo. Yet the Miqote is fighting as a Bard and the Elezen as a BLM at Carteneau. AND shows them in the 2.0 cutscene skipping ahead with Derplander. There is NO PROOF everyone on that battlefield had the Echo. None.

I can't agree that the Warriors of Light have the Echo, because theres no proof that the people who Loiusoix sent forward in time all had the Echo. We can't assume every. single. person. on the battlefield had it. There's just no proof and, following the logical path, it doesn't seem like it's true. The lore of the game seems to tack on the title of Warrior of Light to the Adventurer in the MSQ at the end of the quest, but that's not what the original term was for.

Inns? Places to go for traveling people, pretty much runs itself. Actual shops? My FC mate wants to eventually buy a personal house to turn into her characters apothecary shop that would actually have store hours and things.

I agree. I kind of have a reputation on being super rigid with lore, but really I'm not. I really, really think it's way more fun to wrap your character around the lore, weaving it within the lore, to make it fit, then it is to barrel through the lore and breaking it, especially when 95% of the time the character concept will work with a little lore research and maneuvering, and you'll look super cool knowing your character is perfectly lore compliant. This is a fantastical game. There is lore for mostly everything people want to do. It's Final Fantasy after all, things get crazy as hell. Some of the lore of this game is crazier than any special snowflake character you can think up. I really really like the lore they give us in this game and would love if they just gave us more (*cough*The Twelve*Cough*) On Jobs, I don't see anything wrong with playing a Job, if that's what you want. Armi is an Archer who happens to sing, but I certainly don't care if people RP they have magical songs. As long as it's lore compliant who am I to complain?* *THis isn't to say I won't have an opinion, but my opinion literally means nothing if it's perfectly in line with lore.
