  1. Oh my!!!! I miss all the shenanigans when I go to bed. And Guen and you.....if you look alike, I'll take it. I went to bed early too! I feel like I should not have, I missed the party! I worry about my Free Company sometimes Also, Curago Race changed again! He'll never stick to one. Ever. (You guys are the weirdest people I know, never change)
  2. I agree I believe it was worth discussing and it was a shame it devolved. A donation is probably the best idea, i'm sure you can wrangle up quite a bit of money to keep the site ad free
  3. The Rum n Rumble isn't open just yet, but that's only because we can't really think of an event! If you want to use it for your gambling thing we would love to let you.
  4. No one is attacking you, the one thing that could have been seen as an attack ("It's selfish") was asked BY YOU if it was selfish. Yall are way way way to defensive about Ul'dah and your stories.
  5. You asked if it was selfish and I gave you an answer, I didn't volunteer the information. Don't get it twisted.
  6. The point is people shouldn't have to work around such power plays.
  7. It would be like a bunch of us Garleans (My FC's alts and the Garlean FC in Ul'dah, deciding to storm the castle with all their weaponry and technology and say "We've taken over the city now." Do you think everyone would appreciate it? No. Some would go along with it because it would be fun for them, but many many RPers would feel put out that it happened at all. Forcing something they wanted nothing to do with and US saying "Whelp, the Garleans took Ul'dah, if you don't like it, ignore it." I think we can all agree that would be a problem. Hell, with Ul'dah so weak to the poisoning, there isnt a reason not to do it.
  8. There are not hundreds, there are a few dozen or so who have decided they get to plan all the stories and decide what goes on in that city, despite the fact the Devs of the actual game saying no that didn't happen and a bunch of people who's characters live in Ul'dah having no say because they aren't part of that in crowd. Yes, it's selfish. There is a difference between large scale plots between your friends (You cAN have large scale plots without changing the status quo of a server and forcing consent!) and changing an entire cities landscape that you shouldn't have control over and not caring about the rest of the server.
  9. I dislike any RP that forces a continuity that players may not actually want or forces people to either side with playing it or forces them to ignore it and therefore leave themselves out of RP. No one, NO ONE, in this community has the right to force canon on a City -- whether you believe your doing it to players or not -- that the Developers do not have a hand in and forces a change on your server. There is no need for these kind of plots either, you can do smaller plots with the same impact but don't mess with the status quo. We do not get to change the status quo, only the devs can do that. I was all for the PC Sultana making a CAMEO at the ball, but I heard later she was being used in other plots and that was completely inappropriate. We do not get to change the status quo. Ever. If a few members of the RP community attempt, up to and including poisoning an entire city that never gave consent - and people defend this action those members of the RP community have too much power. Period. And say "But they can ignore it" all you want, the truth is - no you can't ignore. Those big names in Ul'dah will talk about it - because they are apart of it - and you will be forced to shun yourself because you refuse to acknowledge the RP. You'll have nothing to discuss if you pretend you have no idea whats going on. You end up being shunned, I'm not sure why people don't see this. once again; we don't have the right the change the status quo. We are GMs of our stories, but we are NOT the GMs of the overarching world.
  10. He's in that Selfie FFXIV parody video so I was pretty surprised to see he moved to Balmung! Video for those who haven't seen it: [video=youtube]
  11. Yay acknowledgement. I'll keep saying it over and over again to get rid of any fears, I'm just hoping people don't auto-assume we're doing what they are in Ul'dah. We just need something to gather those that do rp in Limsa more regular - like a treasure hunt or a dance or a just to help get people in the habit of actually looking for RP in Limsa (Which, even though people rp there, not many are in the habit of checking there for Socializing) Can you PM me your problems with Ul'dah? I'd like to hear it to avoid the pitfalls.
  12. This is a smart idea. A guildmate of mine runs an apothecary ICly in Ul'dah and never thought to advertise to the community. /wanttosteal
  13. ^ I think this is a good discussion and would like to share my opinion, but it's probably best this this split since it would derail Zhavi's attempts at bringing together Limsa
  14. ^ I'm not sure how many times I have to state this, but I'll do it till someone acknowledges I'm saying it. The plan is not to do what people are doing in Ul'dah, only tiny one-offs and small non-reaching plotlines to get people into the city Roleplaying until they are no longer necessary and people just naturally happen to go there on their own.
  15. Those kind of plots, for a city, are the kind of thing I'm trying to actively avoid because it is such a problem in Ul'dah. Anything that would be thought of by me, I obviously can't think for anyone else, would just be to get people Roleplaying in the city and not have some kind of overarching plot that suddenly defines the entire city and how the people must RP there. The treasure hunt is good, it's a one off plot that gets people into the city. Then later they can grab a beer, then other people will see people grabbing a beer and go "Oh hey people RP here" and start showing up on their own. The biggest thing we need to do is get people into the city. There's a perception that things only happen in Ul'dah and we need to change that.
  16. Night Blades has a mansion in the Shroud with a main floor that is the emptiest main floor in existence (We used all our furniture allotments on the basement and the upstairs), if you would like to use it, get a hold of me
  17. yar set up the LS, we just have a place for you to go
  18. We have an actual small house in Mist that we're going to be opening up as a Bar if you need a place to perform icly. I don't think you know that since your new to the guild . I enjoy the idea of it not being in Ul'dah, it will give people more places to go.
  19. She's already here, We stoleded her.
  20. I liked the idea of a Burlesque club, but I was never comfortable with Burlesque being tied to prostitution since I did Burlesque IRL for two years. Also, you know how Bordellos tend to look to none RPers (and RPers), especially with a bunch of pimps already running around Ul'dah *sigh*
  21. you're right Ruru Also Freelance, it wouldn't be running the whole city, the purpose of the story lines would only to give people a reason to talk to one another, and only those who want to participate. THE THEORY is doing that story line will make it seem Limsa is more active, thus more people will then show up in Limsa without the need of a story line.
  22. Selphie is clearly more than a decade old, based on how she speaks and behaves. I'd place her at early teens, most likely. Depending on when her mom had her, that's quite a long time for her mom to have lived while draining her own life. Selphie is still a child though, even if she was 13. If her mom died when she was 10, and her mom (which is likely) was only in her early 20's when she had her, she didn't actual live all THAT long after she learned how to heal all wrongly (lets say around the same age as Selphie) Though yes, this will not effect you in RP, unless you plan on rping in the game for 10+ years.... or casting Medica 2 for every paper cut, I guess.
  23. How old is Selphie? She's pretty young and her mother died a few years before? I don't think she got to watch her grow. It wasn't the Hearer thing that killed her, it was the fact she refused to learn the right way.
  24. Tone is hard to parse on the internet and unfair to assume the tone of someone was "Thinly veiled superiority" just because they didn't use emoticons or whatever. Come on, that's hardly fair This one I can get down with.
