  1. The unfun police! How dare people answer questions about the lore! And I noticed not one person said the concept wasn't possible, they just said it was rare and to expect people to think it's special snowflake-y. THAT doesn't mean not to do it, thats just saying "It's not a concept I agree with because I don't like playing rare things" but no one told her not to play it at all.
  2. I don't see how being respectful of lore makes anyone unfun. Lore is Fun, building around lore IS FUN. Why ignore something that is so in depth and rich? If that makes me the Lore police, I guess I'm the lore police, but I think building around lore is way more fun then completely disregarding it.
  3. People are free to play whatever they want though? If people ask for advice in a thread, why wouldn't people who know the lore really well answer? I certainly appreciate when people come in and ask for how to be lore appropriate and SEE that people answer honestly rather than "Play it! Who cares about lore! Don't listen to those fuddy duddies." I also appreciate people listening to others advice and not getting mad when it's not what they hoped (The Blue Mage thread is wonderful for this, I threw out a bunch of constructive criticism and she worked around what she felt were valid concerns to help make the idea much more future lore friendly - which was my greatest concern. She didn't just go "I have to cow-tow to you people!" just because I didn't agree.) If getting people think getting jumped on is coming int a thread and explaining why your character concept may not work in lore, then those people are awfully sensitive. I didn't see any hostility. I saw people coming in, explaining lore and then explaining why it may not work. I'm unsure why people think disagreeing is automatically hostile.
  4. I never avoid anyone, but if you already had the idea set in your head why did you ask for advice? you asked in the thread "That being said, are these ideas too out there or do they actually work?" And when a lot of people went "It's too out there" you say you have to breastfeed people. I don't know, it feels like you wanted an echo chamber of "Yes" then actual discussion.
  5. Fire. "Wow," "Hm?" "Nothing, maybe I'm just in a good mood, but it's - it's kind of wonderfully you, that's all." "Ah... well.. my herbs all sleep in the spare bedroom and my book shelfs are in my room so... I'm always close to a good story..." "Stories and life. I like this home much better. Thanks for letting me in." "You're going to teach me how to play cards...?" "Mmhm." "Right now?" "Mmhmm." "With a concussion...?" "Mmhmm." "Books about love. I never thought to turn to books for that, I wonder if I should've. Although I guess I'm not a prince or a knight." "You're quite Knightly. I've relied on books for most of that... but... it's a little different from reality I'm finding." "Hmn, well, if this were a book, what would we be doing right now? Does it involve fighting monsters? I don't think the kitchen is big enough." "In the books... I think it would go... the dashing knight Sindl saved the lowly farm girl Armi from the evil Fillion and he protects her and they go away to a little cottage to hide but instead they...It would be a very interesting story, indeed." "Hmn, well, I haven't got any little cottages... but there's a great view of Limsa Lominsa up at Summerford Farms I could take you to. I mean, if you feel like going anywhere today." "You never.... you always show me... this is amazing. You are..." "I wouldn't even try if it weren't for you. There's so many things I gave up on, until you came along." "Really?" "I didn't think I could come to care about anyone like this again, I thought - well, I was broken. But here I am." "Well, what's the last thing Armi did that made you smile?" "Made tea." "I can make... all the tea in the whole world! It may take me awhile, now you have to stay for days." "Also might kind of flood the place." "Someone might drown?" "An ocean of tea. How diabolical." A thundering flood of tea sweeps out of the door and through the streets. In it wake, for a moment, Ul'dah is clean. And a little tea-stained." "Might taste funny though. Better than salt water, I guess." "The floor is lava." "The floor is what?" "X'havir told me a game, the floor is now Lava. You can't step on the floor." "Fair enough." "That should be good..." "I meant what I said yesterday. I love you." "M'sato..." "I know, I know. Time. It's...It'd distract me if I didn't tell you." "No it's... a lot of Miqote don't know what love is... it's a foreign concept to them... and... you really haven't known me all that long... and I'm not really anything special... I'm just wondering..." "...If I even know what it means?" "I'm okay, Armi, or as much as I ever get, and this is gonna end, right up until it happens again, and I'll live through that one, too." "What if you don't?" "If I think like that, it gets hard to keep going. Better to just be sure you'll live 'n then make it happen." "I'm torn... I think it's good for you to keep trying and learn how to.... but not if it does this..." "Armi, -this- is mild. I've hidden in cellars and caves and hollows for days longer, and I didn't wake up in a mattress with my biggest worry being whether or not I was going to finally say the wrong thing to you." "Mild... That's what I was afraid of... Does this happen often?" "It used to more common when I was younger, and around the...The battle you were in, it got to its worst. These days, it only happens around certain dates, weather patterns, or when...Big things happen." "Are you okay...?" "Sometimes it's only a headache, but...The normal ones can be three, four days, and then I'm scrambled for about a week after. It doesn't -matter- if I'm okay. It'll happen all the same, so I might as well make myself okay." "I said I was -doing a favor for someone-, alright? He needed someone to help play waiter at his cafe, and I used to work for him back when I was full-time at the Arcanist's guild to make extra money. Only he went all -upscale- now and he made me wear a TIE and his damn cook sat me down and CUT MY HAIR." "Ah... you look cute though..." "Anyway, that's why the tie. He was pissed that I showed up a little bit banged up, but that was the job before, and at least it paid." Mm... we should probably put a salve on those bruises... why are... you still in that if the job is done? "...Because I'm going to have the thing cleaned before I give it back as an apology for showing up bruised. And I can't get the damn -tie- off." "Hold still. A waiter, huh?" "...Yeah. I used to do near everything there. Wait tables, cook food, mix drinks, the usual job you do that takes hard work and doesn't bring home a lot of money. Never had to wear a -tie- though." "Hm... I can't imagine you... waiting tables... um.. doesn't that require...you know... not... being mean to customers?" "Goooooooooooooooooooooood evening, and welcome to Meritt's Seafood! I'm M'sato, and I did this for so long that I can look friendly even if I'm wanting to punch a wall! No matter what I say like this, people seem to think I'm just funny and -quirky- rather than just a mean jerk." "Best part of clay...you can make something, then make something else." "I think that's true of people too.. you can always try to be whatever you want, remold and reshape yourself just like clay. But your always you, you never stop... being clay." "That is...very smart." "Ah... I'm not sure about that but... I think it's helpful to know.. that you can still be you... even if you shift a little." "So if someone were this clay...smooth, no rough edges. But then something happened and they changed. The shape changes but they are still what they are underneath. And can maybe go back to something similar but not exactly the same." "Exactly. I think... that meeting you all and the things that have happened after... they have changed me and redefined what 'me' is. But... I'm still me. I'm still Armi, just... a different kind of Armi. I used to be afraid that people wouldn't like me if I changed, that... if I became something else everyone would leave me behind... but... I'm changing and moving and.. you know, I still have most people... they didn't leave me..." "Maybe I can find X'havir again someday. Smooth out the rocky points that hide him." "Whoever you think X'havir is, you can find him again,, or you can become something new but... still the same. A better person, grow and change and... You know, not that there was anything wrong with the old X'havir. He was very charming." "Was he?" "I love you." Ashes.
  6. Let's use the Rum N Rumble! (biased) For serious though, I think the best way to shuffle RP would be somewhere prevalent - like the bars mentioned above - and use the RNR for events 0 like the Fight Club or Beach Parties) and for more private RP (Since it's a small house). We're still working on getting it set up, but once it is we'll start trying to shuffle people to it as well. For the "Big hotspot" the Member is my favorite spot. I really like it there even if it is small. I really like the Bismark too, it's like the only restaurant spot available in the game, I'd like to see it used more. On Storylines, and I can't stress this enough, for now we need to stay away from FC storylines. If an FC came in and said "Well, lets get people involved in our storylines" it will make it seem like Limsa RP is pushing that particular FC. The last thing we want to do is play any kind of favorites while this is being set up. For now, I suggest very small introductory plotlines that anyone can get involved it and doesn't focus on one person/FC. It shouldn't be anything complicated and it would be good for those who want to help Limsa's RP issue to get together to come up with something. Also, the Night Blades consider their home in Limsa, with most of it's contacts there. I just need to do a write up so you can add it to the list bllarrgg
  7. Updated our IC information with SO MUCH INFO it may be too much and some ooc information to update the entry! Also added our stance on Lore, which we've decided is super important, which I will also post in here: A bit of a warning: We enjoy being as true to lore as possible. While we believe in bending lore to fit your character to a point, we believe VERY HEAVILY in respecting the lore in this game (Not the overall FF games, just this universe) and if something just cannot be done in lore, then it shouldn't be done. Some people love this about us, believing the challenge in playing is maneuvering around the lore to get what you want, while others find us too restrictive in that sense. We discuss lore constantly and make sure the guild, it's storylines, and even it's members are following lore without breaking it (Remember: Bending it a bit is totally okay). This information should probably be known to potential applicants so you have all the available information. We love working with people to make sure their characters are exactly what they want while still being lore appropriate (Because most of the time it's possible, people just don't know how). If you have any questions feel free to ask
  8. Blizzard used to not, though. Back in Vanilla it was pretty craptacular. But I appreciate how smooth they are now, when I can back to the game to try Cata my account was hacked 4 times and my level 80 Mage alt was pulled off the account to sell. They managed to help me in like... 5 minutes each time. I don't doubt SE went to a call center that was cheap rather than one that was good. Cuz that's what they do. LEARN SOMEDAY, SE.
  9. Yeah the Conjury storyline points out an outlier of a person, someone rare, someone able to draw from their own lifeforce to do anything - that doesn't happen naturally. There's just no support for that in lore. Yeah you can learn Conjury wrong, but it would most likely mean you accidently use wind instead of cure or your Cure's are worse than other peoples (But you give no care's because you're still helping people) using the same Aether as you. That stuff is actually kind of an interesting character development, since there isn't anything "tragic" in it - as people like to do so often. The cannibalizing of your own aether isn't natural - while learning you just aren't going to do it accidently. It's implied that that is effing dangerous and weird, so I'm assuming they wouldn't just teach anyone as openly as they do if it was just a thing that happens in your first lesson (The THM storyline supports this, as they will turn people away without the proper Aether reserves). Is it impossible? Of course not, some students are going to do it naturally. SOME like 2%.If you play that 2% that's up to you, but don't try to defend it as not somewhat special snowflake-y.
  10. They get all pissy if you wear your socks funny.
  11. I just like this shot. I also like this shot.
  12. On the subject of personal houses, I hope the design is different than Guild houses, so it gives people drive to want both
  13. Ah, not true, completely. Anything 45+, ANYTHING, has the same change of giving you a IV Materia. Stick to level 45 things (or near it) because it's cheaper BUT you would do well to have a weaver/Leatherworker to can easily HQ those things in order for that to be viable (I've bought on the auction house before, but even the level 45 stuff can eat into your profits if you only end up with 10 Craftsman Cunning III's [iT's HAPPENED].)
  14. It's not impossible, it just requires a time investment some people don't have. In the final push for the mansion, in 5 days we raised 22 million. 5 days. 5 million of that came from ONE PERSON and 90% of it came from about 10-15 people. But a lot of people don't have the time or the know how for that kind of push. I know by the time we actually got the damn thing all of us kind of collapsed on the floor and thanked the Twelve it was over. So I understand some people being lost about how to make the money, in this game is can really look like there is NO money to be made. However, planning ahead is smart. Getting up early, getting the money together ahead of time, knowing it's always going to be more expensive then you thought because it's Square Enix (I was a bit surprised they didn't pull the "Personal rooms are one million gil on Legacy servers!" thing) and understanding this game is much much more populated than we all seem to remember it is is valuable information I'm doing that with personal housing. I'm paranoid as hell and that "800k" Yoshi-p quoted a while ago made me save way over (WAYYY over, but after the mansion push I need to refill some of the coffers to get back up) it just in case. If/when it ever comes out. I'll be up the second it goes live to get the house I want.
  15. The only season of the Sing Off I ever watched was the one where Pentatonix won and I'm really glad to see them be successful. I love Avi so much
  16. I'm starting to believe we all need some kind of GM support group.
  17. We have a lot of "lone wolf" characters in our FC. In general, They seem to be popular among the RP community, so over the years I've put a contingency plan in place in our guild stories where it makes sense a lone wolf guy could join us, go do his own thing ICly, and still have a community to hang out with OOCly. We're the more populace Night Blades, but had we known the FFXI holdovers from the old guild back in the day were coming to FFXIV, we probably would have stuck with Crimson Blades. AH WELL. The best you can do if you refuse to join an RP Guild and want to stay a freelancer (Easier in this game then others because of Linkshells) is just wait for personal housing, which as far as I know id still going to be a thing. FOR the guild having trouble, I'm pretty surprised they got all bought up myself, I think they should have opened more wards. I know we have a dummy FC with a small house, but it's the house we owned for 3 months while saving up for the mansion and we grew all attached to it. I'd look around for guilds who are doing the same, upgrading, and then snatching the house they don't want. You'd probably have to do some digging though -- when the Grim moved from their small house in Mist to their medium in Goblet, the place was bought up within a half hour. Also, waiting for personal housing too will be a thing, since some people will probably move out of their cottages.
  18. Too bad Ruru's taken. And Alulu is far too cute for anyone to get between that!
  19. My fiance's character is marrying his long time girlfriend probably and I don't really believe in IC Marriage but I want that wedding dress so I'm gonna marry one of my guildies oocly unless someone convinces me otherwise >.>
  20. Right? That room is fantastic!! No screenshots of my poor man's room will be appearing here due to it's general state of hoboness. Yes. I didn't plan for this very well at all so I have no idea what Armi's OR Loki's is going to look like. I got Armi's yesterday (Loki still needs to do Aurem Vale...), and it's like... a bed and some books on the floor. I use the excuse that her old house just burned down a few days ago so she doesn't have anything. >.>
  21. That room turned out.... so Liadan. *Steals the floor and the planters on the walls*
  22. The part that stresses me out the most is the fact I'm usually a GM and having to deal with OTHER PLAYERS OOC butthurt over things that happen ICly or the fact I don't have as much time as they would like me to have (I don't work, but on top of GMing storylines, running a guild of 70+ people, coordinating endgame, Introducing new members, keeping old ones happy, doing my DR's, doing endgame at all, my time is actually fairly limited. Of the 8-10 hours A DAY I spend on the game, 6 hours of that is usually Upper Management stuff. This doesn't even include off the game stuff like, you know, actually spending time with my fiance). That usually brings me into stressland quickly, when people try to metagame or powergame, get mad about their character not being a hero, etc etc. It's all ooc stuff, though. IC stuff doesn't stress me out so much. I'm not going to lie, I am really rooting for Armi in this universe and I'm fairly attached to her. She's so good and honest and sweet and completely genuine that I find it hard to not want the best for her and when I see she doesn't get it (By my control or otherwise) it can break my heart. Her journal is hard to write for sometimes, when I have to put pen to paper about something that happened to her she just didn't deserve - which happens fairly often since at the end of the day I'm sadistic. Her journal is much, much darker than how she acts in game and I've had people comment they'd have no idea of those thoughts when they rped with her. I adore her, but she is tragedy and it's sad. That being said, I don't get mad or stress out about anything when it comes to her. IF I get mad about something ICly, it's because there was an ooc issue behind it that made me mad. I sympathize with Armi, I want good things for her, but I also understand she isn't real - it's just a story - and rping is supposed to be fun. I do think about rp a lot, because my passion is crafting a story, but it's more with an interest of what's going to happen. Like a really good book or a TV show. I tend to make my characters very different then myself, as well. I am me in real life, I don't really want to play me in this world. Roleplaying is a fun mix of acting and writing, and I like to believe I'm pretty okay at it. Because of that all my characters are nothing like me - from sweet and awkward Armi to Snarky/flirty Loki to Sadistic/Spoiled Isera. I can't really say "This character is me". I think it helps me detach from them once I need to leave their head, which helps with me not stressing out.
  23. Me, Ellion Goto, Stanzie Rhyees, and X'havir Vahl all got our tickets! However, it was because -I- was able to get in. Apparently no one is really able to.
  24. *takes the pumpkins away from you* I think you have an obsession.... >.>
