  1. I'm glad to see Server Balthier won and everyone is moving to it together, old and new players....yes.... glad... *Willful denial*
  2. Plot Twist, we are all playing in one giant Echo.
  3. Loki is a former Archer, new Arcanist (Soon Summoner) in RP so she knows two jobs, but not all of them (She doesn't know about being a bard either). The thing is, I do endgame and since this game allowed you to multiclass, you're going to see Loki with lots of high level jobs (To switch around as necessary). She's my "endgame character", all my other characters will have jobs only related to their RP persona's (Armi will be a former CNJ turned BRD, for instance), but Loki will have many, many OOC jobs leveled. As I like the idea of running through end game on one character (For selfish reasons - so people recognize me easier and won't be scared to ask me to a raid or something) I see no other way around not leveling her on multiple jobs. Loki will not know these jobs ICly probably ever. HOWEVER, I totally get only leveling the job you have for RP. In fact, it's something I would do if I wasn't doing endgame. It's a personal choice and one I totally get. It's also a personal choice to level a Maurader but say your a Chocobo breeder. RP is pretty flexible.
  4. I will be when then game comes out on PS4. Console and Comp gaming, even in the same game, are almost like to different experiences I did it in FFXI and on my computer I was grindy grindy, get the story for the quest go! On my Console, I would just sit on my couch, chill, and RP, craft, redesign my mog house, talk to my ls.
  5. I have a question, I have a question! Does this mean if you talk to other people who aren't in your linkshell it will mean you will act like to beat so and so dungeon? What about end game? If you end up doing Bahamut, would you run around saying you were the group that beat Bahamut?
  6. Loki [*]Action Girl - pretty much describes Loki to a tee. [*]Lady of Black Magic - Happens during 2.0, she slowly becomes an Summoner due to hearing the Primals in her head. [*]Deadpan Snarker - obviously [*]Ethical Slut - Yup. [*]Good Bad Girl [*]Kuudere - Cool on the outside, sweet on the inside. [*]Unkempt Beauty Armi Strange Girl - Especially in 1.0 but a bit of that remains in 2.0. Her personality is more interesting, but she still has an underlying strangeness to her. Small Steps Hero - Armi has been demoted from a Martyr Without a Cause to a Small steps hero. She is no longer looking to die for a righteous cause, but it still a good person who wants to be righteous. This varies in success. The Heart - Always. Lady of War - She is a graceful, stoic bard. Also very, very good with a bow. Drowning My Sorrows - Armi will have a hard time adjusting to the 5 year skip in the beginning (I PLAN on having this just be a temporary thing, but who knows). Honestly, this is my excuse for getting her into taverns where everyone and their dog likes to RP.
  7. When it comes to RP, I (And therefore my guild as a whole) only has a few rules: Don't Godmod, Don't Metagame, Stick to Lore (You can bend it, don't break it) and don't make players uncomfortable (Unwanted sexual advances, racist remarks, etc) After that... Funny rp, Dramatic RP, crazy RP... do whatever you want. Do what makes you feel immersed. I tend to like both fun and dramatic RP and sometimes I like a little romance. Do what makes ya happy, man.
  8. I think the reason a lot of people are tired of it just comes down to the simple fact that the points have been made already, and no one likes the idea of the roleplaying community being further subdivided. One of the biggest things I love about FFXIV is the strength of this community, the same one that has produced a lot of awesome relationships, interplay, and character development over the course of the game's life. The people who don't want to go to a Legacy server don't want to be burdened with an existing community. The people who are already on the Legacy server and really have no alternatives but to remain there don't want to lose out on new RP companions. It's a situation wherein there's no real way to win once one side becomes convinced that the community is entrenched and the other side becomes convinced that there's no reason to not want a Legacy server. Me, I'm not happy about splitting the roleplaying community, but it's not my decision, and we've got the decided minority now. So if you really didn't want a Legacy server, I hope you have fun when the game goes live, and I'm sorry we won't get a chance to play together. Yeah but at the end of the day, regardless of how tiresome it all is, you gotta let people have their out. Silencing them just makes them feel cast aside and slighted. Obviously, none of this will matter come launch, but people want that out. Just give em it and step in if people start calling each other names and stuff. It's not a bad thing to have heated discussion, but trying to silence people will only make things worse.
  9. Ugh I remember that, I was so effing annoyed that Lindblum was the thing then suddenly it wasn't because "OMG 4chan!" My guildies had to tell me to take a step back I just wanna talk bout Balthier (As an aside, I know people hate this legacy vs non-legacy debates but I think they need to happen so people can just get what they need to say out. Eventually if you let people speak and not try to shush them, they will shush themselves because they will have gotten it all out)
  10. ^ I KNEW I recognized your name, your from the Aion RP site!
  11. There are no EU datacenters (All of the datacenters are in Montreal, yes it's silly).
  12. Toshe stop voting lol. You are going to Balmung where Dennthota can embrace you in her ripply muscley arms. Something all characters should aspire too
  13. Toossshhh you didn't need to vote your rollin with us homies.
  14. Back during the first server vote my guild made up a fake server and tried to get people to vote for it VOTE SERVER BALTHIER
  15. In Japan they're called Table Talk RPG. I know Sword World is really popular there (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_World_RPG) but I wouldn't say RP is big there.
  16. Well I don't mean the initials RP, but it might mean something different to him. I saw an interview with one of the members of Paragon (A HUGE endgame guild in WoW, like the number one guild) and he said he "Roleplays as " He was Finnish and Roleplaying meant something completely different to him. The concept of Roleplaying is very very niche. I'm just unsure how popular the act of RPing is in Japan. Especially in an MMO.
  17. It's true. Trolling through the Japanese forums, there are no Roleplay related posts there. I think when Yoshi talks about RP, he might mean something different than we mean
  18. Because Yoshi-P is generally pretty in touch with the community and Kylin has talked to devs so they know Balmung is an RP server. On top of that I don't think they would designate a new server as they aren't available to Legacy players and they LOOOVVEEE their legacy players. It seems the easiest thing for them to do would just slap "RP" on Balmung and call it a day. BUT then again it is SE so...
  19. I'm 90% sure if they did designate an RP server, they'd probably just make it Balmung and get it out of the way, which wouldn't solve the "Nonlegacy" problem
  20. How legacy players won't effect me? Well, my reasoning is uh... kind of selfish and somewhat snotty The biggest reason I don't think Balmung legacy's will effect me is because there will be more of us than them. The Legacy RPers will have to adapt to the influx of new members or get left in the dust. The Beta forums was, at one point, trying to figure out how many people are actually "Legacy" but the most they could do was look up at the characters on XIVPADS. I think the number was 50,000 - 60,000. Total. That is TINY. On XIVPads there are 6,100 characters on Balmung, which ACTUALLY is not too bad so go Balmung. But the amount of those that roleplay may be in the low 100's. 100-200 people, if that. The core people who were really ingrained in heavy rp? Probably 30-40. Popular characters? 10-20. This numbers aren't scary numbers! SE is projecting much much bigger numbers of newbies than that. It's almost like a reset for Legacy players too. 90% of the people rolling on that server won't know who there characters are, or care. They have to prove themselves all over again. Sure, they could stick to their little legacy group if they wanted, but they would become background noise if they did. Maybe they are okay with that, I don't know. But Legacy RPers are a nonissue. Now we can talk about economy and server firsts or whatever, but right now I'm just specefically talking about the RP side of things
  21. Right now my guilds HQ doesn't exist in game, but I'm pretty sure there will be a place we tend to congregate. No land claiming though!
  22. That's the worst, isn't it? When your like "Well I'm good, and I don't make any mistakes (Note: You do make mistakes you just blocked them out you hussy), so what's everyone else's excuse?" *Haughty laugh of derision*.
  23. Yeah the biggest problem I'm seeing is there is no consensus. I have no vested interesting in a nonlegacy server as I'm just rolling my new character on Balmung, but since there is GOING to be one, I would like to see it you know... actually work. It would be the biggest shame to see the people who want to start fresh seperate themselves and then the community never gets off the ground Here's another thread that mention Leviathan: http://forum.square-enix.com/ARR-Test/threads/50517-How-many-people-will-be-role-playing/page2 In that thread I actually told them they really need to come to a consensus
  24. Yeah, I'm able to look back now and be ashamed. It's funny because now everyone makes fun of ME about it, because I was such a self righteous little twit. Endgame brought out the worst in me and I really really needed to learn to reign that in. It's just a game!
