  1. I've RPed a bit of the racial tension. It's part of the reason I asked if the shell was intended to be an OOC thing or an IC thing. Jaques is far far less likely to trust a Green than any other race. Especially a Green from the Twelveswood. And the reason I haven't RPed the tension more is because I haven't really met any other Wildwood PCs. Just some NPC stuff. Especially recently. ... And yes. I realize he's now engaged to a Wildwood... He was a downright -ass- to Vaughn when they first met. As a side note, I'd love to see the ol' Duskwight LS have a bit of life brought back into it.
  2. The Duskwight one is rarely used, sadly, but still technically exists.
  3. First it had been choosing his outfit for the day. Watching Vaughn deliberate and stress over what would be the most appropriate outfit to greet their guests in. For his part he dressed comfortably and simply. Black leather pants and belt, black leather boots with hard leather shin and knee guards, a loose and open dark blue shirt and black leather fingerless gauntlets that matched the boots. The hilt of a hunting knife stuck out of a sheath in his right boot and the hooks at his belt that usually held his fist weapons hung empty. Now Vaughn had taken over the kitchen, fully intent on going overboard in making... something for their guests. Jaques had just been chased out of the kitchen by Vaughn and Lily. Both making it quite clear that he was only in the way and unhelpful in his attempts to calm Vaughn down. Was he going to become like this for all who came in for a tour? He shakes his head and takes a peek into the dinning room where most of the Freed were busy with Chiane, a fellow Duskwight. She was teaching their after lunch lesson of numbers and basic math. The class would go on a bit longer yet. Hopefully long enough for Lady Faye and Val to see a bit of what went on here. But not so long that the guests couldn't speak with Chiane or any of the many charges that lived under his protection should they choose. Jaques finally heads towards the front door, deciding to wait out front where he could be seen. He'd sent the Harbingers a letter with directions to the establishment, which he hoped would be enough. Things could get quite confusing in the cramped alleys and small streets of Ul'dah. He also hoped that the pair would make it to their street untroubled by the many refugees and poor that called the gutters their homes. Perhaps he should have said that he'd meet them by the Aetheryte? Or at the airship docks or stables? Too late now, if they were on time they'd be here within a quarter bell. The large Duskwight squints in the bright midday sun and is blasted in a wave of heat. 'The typical Ul'dahn sunny day.' he thinks as he closes the door behind himself and leans up against the building's windowless facade. He glances up at the darker stone where the old awning and sign had protected it's surface from the bleaching the sun had caused around it. That was another reason to wait out front, without a sign this place looked like little more than another nameless warehouse. Crossing his arms over his chest he turns his attention to idly watching those that passed by, which was few this time of day. This particular street didn't get much traffic until later in the evening when men and woman alike went seeking companions of the flesh from the brothels further down the way. For now, it was largely errand runners, delivery folk, the odd refugee, and his own waiting form.
  4. I have one LS slot open. So I'll join in if this becomes a reality. This would be counted as an OOC LS, right?
  5. I always picture this guy makin airplane noises: And just some pretty ones:
  6. :bouncy: Please tell me there are commission slots open.
  7. I can't speak for the Gilgamesh RP hotspots and such, though I'd assume it's going swimmingly. But RP is going strong in Balmung. For us Ul'dah seems to be the default 'hub' people tend to gravitate to. With Limsa undergoing a 'revival'. Gridania tends to be a bit light in RPers... But I see a lot of RP in the Shroud itself. If you look at the 'making connections' forums below you can see all sorts of different things people are looking for. Or post your own to start meeting folks once you get a better idea of your character and what sort of RP connections you're wanting to make. As far as LS/FCs, you can easily get through a list in the menu bar above. There are LSs/FCs for all sorts of tastes and character backgrounds. Welcome to the game!
  8. My experience mirrors Freelance's pretty much. Got beta invites because of my 1.0 CE and decided to try it out. LotRO, my mmo for years, had become stale and I wasn't happy with some of the directions they were going since going F2P. So I was looking for something new. And damned if Eorzea wasn't beautiful. Then I got hooked and here it is a year later, still enjoying it. Here is to more years and more friends.
  9. Jaques follows along, listening to the woman as she spoke. When they reach the office he lets Vaughn take a seat first before seating himself. Watches Vaughn out of the corner of his eye as the Wildwood speaks, and when he stops the other man is still looking at him. He shifts his gaze to fully rest on the doctor once more, his default scowl had shifted to not be so harsh, more neutral. "Former slaves, he means. We offer sanctuary to slaves who need assistance. Ink, for example, would be welcome." He gives a slight pause before continuing, trying to give the woman a better idea of what she'd be dealing with, "Those we currently look after were slaves to the brothel the building we're in used to be. Most had never been outside the building, born and raised inside, before we took it over and converted it about... seven moons ago now?" He looks to Vaughn, who nods confirmation before settling his gaze back on T'rahz. "Their wills and ability to look after their own needs are very limited. Is that something you'd be able to help them reclaim and overcome?"
  10. Why is this not over in the Hotties of Eorzea thread?! *quietly saves*
  11. Jaques glances about the tent as they enter, more concerned with the people inside than what was there. Noting those moving about the reception area of the tent. His eyes fix onto the preoccupied hyur woman as Vaughn approaches. Then raises a brow marginally as the two manage to startle each other, his lips twitching slightly as he fights a smirk. He mutters a 'thank you' to the woman as she leads them deeper into the tent structure. Tent walls did little to hide the sounds of people just outside or even those within the maze of hanging fabrics that surrounded them and he caught small snippets of conversations as they moved. When the midlander finally stopped in front of a doorway and pulled it back he had to take a moment to try and process what was before him. This was unlike any healing environment that he'd ever seen. The candles. The bath. It all seemed more like something he'd see in a companion's room than any healer's room he'd ever been in. Only most companions didn't really say the things this woman was saying. His gaze lingers over the man in the tub a moment, his brows furrowing as he tears his focus from the scene to Doctor Vashka as she spoke. "Ah... yes, Doctor. We saw your flier and were curious to learn more about... whatever it is you do. This therapy. But it seems you're already with a patient." A slight pause, "Is there a better time to speak with you?"
  12. If that doesn't make the calender, there will be much sadness.
  13. Hm... As an avid player of both new and old WoD... I tend to create characters based loosely off how I make them for WoD. So I had picked Fortitude/Gluttony for Jaques. A stuck-in-his-ways drunkard. But after getting to know the character better and the character changing over time... I'd say he's more along the lines of Charity/Gluttony. Jaques is turning out to be a bit of a bleeding heart. And as for the vice. The lure to just say 'Fuck it' and drink himself into a coma when life tosses him curve balls is very much still him. Kinda bad when he had nothing else left to loose. Worse now that he's found things to loose again.
  14. Polishes off the his water, not wanting to linger inside the establishment longer than he needed to, despite the fact that he was still thirsty. He sets the glass on the counter as Vaughn tugs on the collar of his black vest. At the continued teasing he attempts to school his expression into something other than the impassive scowl that had become far too easy to maintain over the cycles. He manages 'impassive frown'. He then slips the flier back into the pockets of his black, soft leather pants as he follows Vaughn out into the alleyways of the city and the unrelenting sun. He readjusts the pack on his back as they walk, a thing that seemed to have seen -much- better days. It having so many different leather patches it was impossible to tell if any of the original leather even remained. After a moment he takes couple of hurried steps forward, catching up to Vaughn's side to take the man's slender, delicate hand into his larger, rough one. The default scowl returns though, aiding them in it's way by causing the average person in the crowd to go around the grumpy Elezen who loomed protectively next to the fancier dressed Wildwood at his side. As he spied the top of the large tent that served as the clinic he quickens their pace.
  15. His sister did of course... much to his boyhood frustrations.
  16. Jaques is busy looking about the establishment, sticking close to Vaughn as the smaller man heads towards the bar. He takes a quick stock of those inside, the usual motley spread of adventurers, locals, and proprietors all vying for the staff's attention as they all try and escape the unbearable heat outside. He hated this place. It was far too open and had far too many entrances. Far too noisy. Far too much of a temptation... his amber eyes begin wander the bottles and casks that line the back wall of the bar. He's snapped back to the beautiful blonde man in front of him as he feels the tug at his beard and the man's words. Had he been caught? "Doing what?" He offers a half-felt smile and a touch of feigned innocence as he tries to cover the discomfort. No... he didn't -think- Vaughn noticed. He accepts one of the glasses, taking a drink. "I... don't know." He frowns a touch in thought as he pulls out the small flier advertising a traveling 'therapist.' Mental healing. The concept was foreign to him but maybe she'd be able to help the charges in their care repair their broken wills. "Perhaps ask one of the clinics if they'd seen her recently? There's the one towards the end of Sapphire Avenue."
  17. Thanks for all the replies! We've sent out some PMs to ideas that have jumped out immediately to us. And we'll do some more as things progress.
  18. Jaques doesn't like giving out his own name. So often times it goes unsaid until someone directly asks for his. When someone gives their own name he will use that name, even if it's not a common one for their race or gender, an alias, or a nickname. He's got his own reasons for the name he gives and why he gives it, other people have theirs. So he tries to respect that. Jaques has yet to and probably never will give out his surname. Or his clan name. Even when he has to sign official documents and things the only name he will ever give is Jaques. Which has made for some amusing little RP moments. And the odd times he's -had- to give a surname he's used Antain. His fiance's. Titles he doesn't like attached to himself. 'Overland' society seems to put a lot more emphasis on titles than his clan did, though. So he tries when he remembers, usually just sticking to 'Lady' or 'Sir'. And he hates the titles 'Master', "Madame' and 'Mistress'.
  19. Vaughn did offer to go WHM if needed as well. So only need two moar! TRY HARDER DOGBERRY, SEXY SAD IS EASY. INVEST IN MOOD LIGHTING.
  20. We (those of us in the Phoenix Rose FC) are looking for connections. We're a very small sanctuary themed FC in Uldah* that focuses on helping and providing for freed slaves. Under the surface we're looking at getting some plots in the works that will give us some anti-slavery vigilante themes. We're wanting to branch out with others in the community so we're looking for other FCs, groups, or even individuals that might like to explore these themes with us. Anything from someone looking to 'sponsor' the sanctuary and help keep it running, to mentors, to The Law taking offense at those taking the law into their own hands, to active slavers. We're open to ideas! If you'd rather send a private message than respond here, you can note myself, Vaughn, or Kyatai here in the forums. Thank you for reading! *No house yet but we're trying to work on that.
