  1. Jaques glances to Verad. "It happens occasionally. But I've never heard it said here with quite the same vehemence that you get up in Gridania. Even the boy just now sounded as though he was just garnering for attention... which he was." He falls silent as Vaughn starts to speak again, watching the girl out of the corner of his vision to make certain a pack didn't start forming up. If he could catch Lili's gaze he attempts to indicate the lurking child to her subtly. If -he- spoke to the girl she'd undoubtedly run off.
  2. OR DOES SHE???? Cuz if a certain Mistbeard legend is true, Nanamo Ul Namo might not have a drop of royal blood in her body. (Which might explain why she's so much sweeter than the rest of her lot...) Whaaaaaaaaat. D: *tries to like question repeatedly in hopes of answerage*
  3. Ul'dah certainly has a nobility in Nanamo. She's got the lineage and status based on her birthright.
  4. Hullo and welcome to the game! In-game RP is a bit different but shouldn't be too far off from the skype/forum RPs you're used to. And everyone has different styles. There are some who more just speak and give a simple emote action. Others will still give paragraphed and detailed responses. The Quicksand in Ul'dah is a major RP hub. With the Downed Wench and the Bismark in Limsa getting it's share of activity. Gridania can be a bit RP light in my experience. With most of the RP I see ending up being outside the city-state. And there are events going on all the time. I'd highly recommend the Open RP LS for finding RP as well as keeping informed of what events are coming up. Hope to see ya around ingame. And many of us are open to walk-ups or planning a meet so don't be shy.
  5. Jaques plants the boy back down onto his feet once he had the roll. The boy made move to throw one final kick at Jaques but he looked up to see towering duskwight watching him impassively and thought better of it. Instead he simply skirted around to collect the smaller boy and disappear back down the ally. With the boy out of sight he turns his amber gaze to the others gathered around. Vaughn had decided to do the talking this time. Which suited him just fine and he was glad the small wildwood was deciding to be social. The light leather armour clad man then shifted towards the edge of the alley, angling to better pay attention down both sides in case something else unpleasant decided to make an entrance.
  6. Jaques likes to cook. He even likes to cook fancy and used to be a fill-in chef at the Bismarck. He really enjoys a well cooked meal and if he has to do it himself, well. *shrug* It's pretty much the only thing I can thing of that got a IC 'WTF -you- did this?!' sort of reaction.
  7. There is no why. Only disturbed mesmerizing. Sit back and enjoy.
  8. Blinks as Vaughn moved closer to assist, he'd still been debating getting involved or not as the woman had seemed to have everything well enough in hand. But it looked like they were getting involved. The smaller boy gives a startled yelp at having been snagged, staring up at the woman with wide brown eyes that marked him as a seeker and couldn't have been older than six cycles, "Askin' never works." The older boy however only grew more aggressive, "Le' him go!" He moved to shove the woman but by this point Jaques was close enough to interrupt. He snagged the harness that the Highlanders seemed to favor so and on such a young boy made for an -excellent- handle. He boy turns to kick Jaques's knee and he angles so the blow landed more on the side of his leg. With a vaguely irritated frown and a grunt he hoists the boy one-handed into the air. The boy struggles a bit, a couple of ineffective kicks landing against Jaques's thigh before going limp and glaring, "Le' him go." Jaques's gaze settles on the woman, remaining silent as he waits to see how she wanted to further handle them. They were her sweet buns and the attack had been made on her... His gaze slides to Verad for a moment, mostly. ((ooc note: these lil darlings are npcs so feel free to take control of them to help fill out narrative if you'd like.))
  9. Blinks as this strange Duskwight enters the scene. He glances to Chiane and notes she seemed just as confused as he felt. He was used the the place occasionally devolving into a madhouse but this was certainly taking the cake. At least this Duskwight seemed to be on their side? And by the Twelve he wanted to paint the floor with Eristan's face. Or even let Val do so. He throws another glance back to S'kyla. But he knew he couldn't... especially not after Eristan just gave the seeker a direct decision to make and they just had a talk about allowing free choice. He also knew that no matter how much he hated this egotistical toad, S'kyla had been and still was fond of the attention he'd lavished on her. It would entirely destroy everything he was working towards. S'kyla looked entirely overwhelmed and terrified. Frozen with indecision as her gaze flickered between Jaques and Eristan. She was a woman who still had trouble deciding if it was okay to ask for a second helping at dinner... she was not ready for such an entire world changing one. Jaques reaches out to rest a hand on Val's shoulder to hopefully pause the man's advance and eyes the Roe, "Wait." He had to at least -try- to contain this. He looks back up to S'kyla, "You do have a choice. But I can promise you that if you leave with him, that will be the last real choice you get to freely make. He means to make you a slave once again. What happens when he bores of you for the next young and beautiful woman that catches his eye?"
  10. Now that I think about it I've never really tried playing a religious zealot or true lawful good type character. I think that might be fun to try at some point.
  11. Straight up evil characters. I always struggle with those. I've only ever pulled it off in one pen and paper campaign. I'm attempting to make a more morally black character now and we'll see how that goes. I also wish I could play a bubbly socialite like... Ah, Aya. Can't do those either. I'd also like to play a female character that I can really get behind. Again I've only ever played one that I ever really liked and enjoyed... and she was my evil character. x.x My most beloved chars always end up being the male ones.
  12. Should be an informative and interesting read. I look forward to it.
  13. Lessee.... Jaques has an official record in Gridania. Mooostly consisting of drunken disorderlies and assault. A couple of unproven theft charges. Unproven poaching charges. A known assistant to poachers. Tho most of those are old the three very new ones -there- are assaults on on officer and one 'indecency' charge. Not on anything official: He's murdered. Not just in self defense either. Assisted with murder and helped cover it up. There is some breaking and entering in there. Blackmail. More assault. And very very soon he'll get to add kidnapping and a mass drugging to that list. Edit: While I wouldn't call Jaques a true villian... I don't think. He can certainly skirt that edge on occasion. He's got that 'ends justify the means' attitude. And a very large general dislike and distrust for law enforcement.
  14. Ojune watched Chiane leave, glancing between his notes and her retreating form, "I'd love the company later! But I'll stay here. If they decide to talk to members of the house I'll be easily found." He gives a wave as she disappears up the steps. ------------------------------ Relief washed over Jaques as the encounter with S'kayla didn't seem to have caused too much issue. And Val's entire lack of tact had even been... cute? He'd go with cute... This relief was all to short lived however as an all to unwelcome voice cuts into their conversation. The ease he'd started to feel was instantly gone and his posture shifts to a much more aggressive stance. As Val angled to better cover Faye he angled to better cover them both. His features a scathing glare he was about to retort when Lady Faye spoke up and he closed his mouth. Taking time to take in the state of the intruders... and to check his sudden rush of fury. This 'noble' had long outstayed his welcome moons ago. His eyes flickered to tall, broad and sparkly. That was new. Usually his guards were a bit more subdued and he wondered if the man's armour had anything -useful- implanted in it other than the obnoxious gold. Were some of those raised bits materia enchantments? He couldn't tell and found himself taking stock in case this got ugly. He still had the advantage of numbers. Even not counting Val, the other unknown in the situation. At Val's second display of major lack of tack Jaques changed his original assessment from it being 'cute' to being -amazing-. Direct and to the point, if crass. He could and did respect that. It was satisfying the way the noble's face paled at the insult. Though the absolutely irritating smug smirk became more genuine again at Faye's spoken rebuttal. Finally he spoke, his voice carrying a dark edge and his angry scowl no less dissipated, "It's a shame your memory seems to be going already, Eristan. At such a young age too. Perhaps if you could keep a guard around longer than a moon they'd be able to assist in refreshing your memory. Certainly never -free- was the pleasures here now was it? I have the old logs to prove it if your memory needs refreshing. I've already told you that this is no longer a brothel. It will never be so again. I've told you that those living here are not for sale. I've -also- told you that this is a home to those living here." A faintly heard rustle behind him and he glances back to see that S'kyla had returned back to the hallway's entrance along with a couple others to see the spectacle. He shifts his gaze back to Eristan and Twinkle Mountain, "And no, I do not understand and I do not have a whore. Now get out. I'm obviously engaged in a separate matter and have no time for you."
  15. Jaques had been making his way back down the lane from the markets. He was getting a bit better at discovering which vendors were more likely to donate to his cause. As it turned out, the richer stores and booths would simply laugh him out. He didn't dare ask those that looked as though they were living day-by-day with the sales they made. But there were several merchants that were somewhere in between that could be sympathetic. He'd just negotiated a deal for a donated shipment of fresh greens to be delivered to the Rose after closing. As such, he was in a fairly good mood as he turned down the ally. Now... he'd seen many odd things down these allies but the -entirely- over dramatic display of the fellow Duskwight down the way was... embarrassing frankly. He could put one of the melodramatic plays that sometimes was performed at the Gold Court to shame. He'd seen the man before around the Harbinger's estate the couple of times he'd gone. He'd also seen him a few times in this alley and at the Quicksand. Just -why- the man felt need to beg and grovel the way he did towards the basket carrying woman was beyond him. Until he noticed the familiarity on the woman's face. Ah... so a joke then...? So distracted by the display, he didn't notice the pair of children that came stalking down the ally behind the woman in time to call out a warning. A highlander boy no older than ten cycles lead the way of a younger miqo'te boy and both were very obviously street urchins given their grubby, half starved and nearly feral appearances. He watched as the older boy darted ahead to the prone Duskwight, sending a kick to the man's ribs. "Sod off damned Grey! Go crawl back t' yer cave!" As the older boy caused the distraction the smaller went around to the other side of the woman, the side with the basket. His ears flat back, he attempted to grab an armful of the delicious baked treats. After he'd nabbed a good half dozen he turns to flee.
