  1. A lot of what I was finding is that the Sacrarium was devoted more to the life affirming aspect of Nald'Thal. Where the Ossuary was more for the death portion. But this is all v1 info. So who knows how it changed. Or if it did. This bit HERE talks about where the law gets written. I have no idea who is actually in the Order. Or who influences it. It's actually a question I posted on the official 'ask your lore questions' thread.
  2. As others have said, I don't know that really can be done. And it's certainly not a new phenomenon. It's been happening since before I got into online gaming or online RP of any kind. Yes, even offline pen&paper rpgs can get this. I did a IC romance in a White Wolf campaign that the player took too far OOCly. I didn't realize they were using their character to court -me- basically. It was... awkward. For quite a while since neither of us were willing to quit the circle of mutual friends we were with. There is even a thread here that talks about some minor bleeds that are generally taken as 'not really a problem'. I've seen it described as a sort of method acting in some cases. Several of us who have been gaming for years and years still end up doing the bleed to some extent... We don't RP in a vacuum. There will be some bleed and it goes both directions. The 'trick' is recognizing when you start to do so. I'm not really certain where you want us to be discussing, this seems more of a rant than anything. And believe me I do understand the frustration. I mean... I'm sure we've all got stories like this. From what we ourselves have experienced or watched someone else experience. Some of us probably have blurred the line too far ourselves at one point or another. I know I have. We learn we grow. We move on. Those that don't will eventually not find much RP for themselves after a while. Those of us that have this happen -to- them all develop our own 'hard lines' of where we think it is going too far. How much effort we as individuals put into correcting the 'offending party'. Some are willing to, others much less so. But what this sounds like, is you're basically calling us out to do is start actively policing. There is no system in place to do so. Who makes the rules? Who enforces them? How far is too far? etc etc. An awareness campaign? Who runs it? -How- is it approached to others? Come on too strongly and you'll likely scare off as many potential RPers as attract. Not all are on the RPC as others have pointed out, how do we get the entire community on board? Do we broaden this campaign to other games? etc etc. In the end I think all we can really do is continue to look out for ourselves and perhaps look out a bit for those we choose to RP with. Guild leaders making policies on this sort of behavior. Etc. I mean... there are enough guilds in maaaaaany games that touch on this specific point that I don't know how it's not already -in- a sort of awareness state much like the other guidelines of RP like not godmodding. And then we have to be careful as I've seen these sorts of things backfire entirely in the opposite direction. I've seen people completely wig out over mere whiffs of OOC/IC bleeds and instead of trying to constructively work through the situation they get very accusatory, belligerent, and downright mean to the 'offender.' Dragging others into it and trying to ruin someone's reputation. Which is entirely the wrong direction to go. I'll even admit to being on some of those shame bandwagons in the past. Not getting the full story and taking things far out of proportion. I'm not proud of those instances. I'd take them back in a heartbeat if I could. At the time I thought I was protecting a friend. Turns out I was being a bully. Ultimately I guess what I'm saying is rant away. It sounds like you've got a system in place on determining who you RP with and who you don't. Stick buy it and get the individuals who make the game fun. Which sounds like what you're already doing. As I mentioned before chronic and blatant offenders will usually end up outside of many circles eventually through their own action.
  3. Yves has seen the light... in an ixal nontheless. Poor sod.
  4. Dawwwww.... she's even colour coordinated with the carpet. Also... her expression. She's like: "Why have you quit amusing me with the string manservant?" Or maybe "Yes. You have a string, manservant. Good for you."
  5. He leads the way back up the stairs they came down and to the large curving staircases they noticed when they entered. Pausing near the kitchen as the others filed up and Vaughn excused himself to finish his dinner preparations. At the staircase, one of the miqo'te women they may have noticed from the class was proceeding them up the steps. The woman was clothed... mostly. Her long and flowing silk skirt embroidered with a fine ivy pattern around it's hem was belted high up on her waist above her tail. But rather than the usual small opening for her tail the skirt had a long split down the back center. Especially now that she was traveling up the staircase the skirt gaped and revealed the woman wasn't wearing anything beneath the silk. "S'kyla!" Jaques called her name in surprise as he noticed this, a kneejerk reaction. He froze, should he have called attention to this presently? Perhaps his guests hadn't noticed... yet how could they -not-? Too late to pretend -he- hadn't noticed -now- wasn't it? He fights the urge to look over his shoulder. S'kyla whirls, a couple stairs short of the top landing at once startled and fearful. She reverts to her comfortable slave demeanor, giving a bow and standing still with her head bowed, not looking any in the eye. "Yes Mast--" a small strangled noise as she corrects, "Ser Jaques?" "There is a rule of being modest outside of a private room... are you modest?" The keeper's brows furrow a moment in thought as she gazes down to herself. Everything in the front was adequately covered. Her halter was small but she'd worn it before without comment. Hesitantly she answers, "Y-Yes, ser." "Yet.. your skirt gapes open in the back and shows an area that you're to keep covered to be modest. You'll need underwear under that one. Okay?" Her hand strays behind her to feel the slit up the back of her fine skirt and it seems to 'click' that she had erred. "I--ah... Yes Master Jaques." she bows low, "I'm sorry." "It's all right... just keep it in mind for next time you wear such things, hm?" He attempts to keep his tone calm and face neutral despite the spike in blood pressure that particular title always caused. Being able to read a 'masters' mood was a survival skill and so she on some level picked up the slight tightening of his grip on the railing, the subtle shift of posture and stillness. "Yes ser. I'm sorry." Keeping her head bowed she retreats the last few steps to turn down the hallway. As she retreats there is a slight hesitation before he turns to face whoever was behind him, "I'm... sorry for any discomfort." Gives a bow of apology. "I think I mentioned that many had never left these walls? We're still working on some of the finer points of societies rules..."
  6. I take no issue with the over generic types of likes/dislikes. I take them as a sign OOCly of where a person's interests lie in the RP they want with that character. It gives ideas for possible hooks and getting an individual involved. And generic gives a lot of wiggle room to do such. It also gives some insight as to char background at a very quick 'soundbite' sort of list. If the individual lists slavery as a dislike but not garleans then I can guess that a slaver has in some way had a greater influence in a character's past than the imperials have. Yeah, they might not be poetic but it's certainly useful. And as Coatleque pointed out... very specific likes/dislikes can change over time. Sometimes rapidly. So a broad range generic list needs less maintenance. Dunno if others agree but it gives me a small measure of amusement when someone lists a particular something in both the likes column and dislikes column. And I did it with Jaques's list with 'being drunk'.
  7. Jaques has... a few. I dont' think I've made a secret of his wariness for Wildwoods. And he's downright antagonistic towards Wood Wailers/Godsbowman. Which is why he's ICly banned from Gridania at present... He has a bias against 'madammes' 'dames' 'pimp' 'mothers' 'masters' whatever term they wanna use for a head of a brothel/prostitution ring. They lure pretty men and women in with promises of gil for the sale of sexual favors. Offer an assortment of protections. Which sounds fine on the surface. But he's noticed in practice the protections can be very selectively enforced based on several arbitrary factors. And the whore has little-to-no say in -who- they bed for the evening. He has little issues with the whores/companions/courtesans in general and has great respect for those that are in business for themselves. He also hates gil and those with it. He grew up in a clan where a gil structure was non-existant and a person's worth was gauged on how well they did the job they took/were given to provide for the clan community as a whole. Where he's noticed how a man can nearly break himself in labor in the 'overworld' and make a pittance. With the bulk of the earnings ending up in some fat noble's pocket malms away. He despises the fact that those who undertake labor intensive jobs for a living are viewed in many aspects as inferior to those who take on more intellectual and manipulative pursuits. He's not exactly happy that he's reached a point in his life where gil is actually needed in large quantity. He also has a bias against obviously overweight people. Not that it's come up exactly with other PCs... But he views it as the product of a sedate and over indulgent lifestyle.
  8. Console games. Tabletop games. A lot more reading than I do now. Might force me to be less of a hermit.
  9. Jaques gives Vaughn's shoulder a light squeeze as he feels the other man lean even closer against him. Somehow the conversation drifted back away from their charges and into a more personal note. And he tries to not let the discomfort show and shifts slightly. He turns his attention back to Faye, "So this is it. Our training area for both body and mind. Perhaps they might enjoy learning how to create some of the outfits and things they wear. Expand their world to other forms of work than what they're used to." motions to the worktables and tools spread about. "If you're ready, I'll show you the private quarters they have."
  10. Ojune follows Chiane's gaze to his tomes, "Ah, well. A thought experiment and competition with some others of the guild." He glances back up to Chiane, "You've heard of the spell of adloquium? Each of us is trying to find a better pattern to draw on more external aether than internal. All without weakening the shielding effect. Whomever accomplishes this to best effect gets taken out for drinks and a bit of bragging rights." He beams up to Chiane, "I don't plan to loose. And that is why I'm down here."
  11. Heh.... I like how we both asked about the Twelve at almost exactly the same time Armachia
  12. OMG ITS SO FLUFFY IM GUNNA DIE! The nutkin is pretty adorable as well.
  13. Hempen undershirt. Only looks like this for male Elezen I'm afraid.
  14. I think... we need to see an illustration of D'yl in the new dodo earrings coming out and in her flower crown. >.> <.<
  15. Good god I think those eyes can see the future. I dont' think it likes what it sees there. But I raise to jerboa variety bonus:
  16. I think it's a muppet. And entirely adorable and fail-y muppet.
  17. I actually just made a blind char. Perhaps we can RP sometime and they can lament their 'disability' together. But I did something similar. Only instead of elemental forces helping and guiding her (even indirectly) she senses the aether in living things or things with high concentrations of aether in them. Like materia and such things. She still uses a cane to move around for those pesky barrel/crates/doors/walls/etc that might be left in a pathway. As for lore viability... don't see why not, for the whole elemental aspect. But I'm not an expert on lore of the elementals. Just know what I've seen other pull off in the game. For instance I know a char (not blind) who did have a friend wind spirit. Used the garuda egi to represent the spirit. And he still ended up with plenty of RP for having such a 'rare gift'. Not all might accept it but it -could- be done if it's something you'd like and it doesn't sound like you're the type to overpower it.
