  1. Hey there, Gideon. Good to meet you! Don't be nervous, I'm new myself and so far the RP community has been very friendly. Enjoy yourself!
  2. (OOC: Thilo is correct, the ocean is terrible and it should be feared. This sounds neat, though. Let me give it a whirl!) Talha: "I'm not afraid of airships. It's not my fault I'm the only one who sees them for the deathtraps they are. Floating up there... like they don't have a care in the world! Well, what if one of those balloons pops a leak, or a wing breaks off? Now who's irrational? I'm not irrational, you're irrational for not finding anything wrong with just floating through the air on a bit of wood!"
  3. Sosuh, I did not get arrested, thank the Twelve. It sure seemed like I was going to be, though. The very next sun after my run in with that swiving merchant, I was at the market, when suddenly one of the Brass Blades approached me. Had a real serious look on his face, too. He put his hand on the hilt of his sword, as though he meant to draw it on me, and asked me about those two merchants. What happened, what I saw, if I really punched that one fool. I would be lying if I told you I wasn't nervous, but I told him the truth. The Blade explained to me that the merchant I punched - Elwin, I guess he's called - was furious about the whole thing. He came to the Blades a little while after, raising a big commotion about how he'd been suddenly attacked by some violent Miqo'te, who was probably using somnus (swiving whoreson). But then, if you can believe it, the Blade told me that Elwin has always been a huge pain in the arse. Apparently, this isn't the first time he's come to them, spinning stories like this, and he's always been more trouble than he's worth, starting problems and whatall. Anyroad, the Blade tells me he just had to talk mostly to get Elwin out of his hair and told me to just avoid the Twelve-damned idiot for a bit. That was that, he bid me good day and left. Thal's balls, you can imagine how good it felt to have that weight lifted off my shoulders! And that wasn't even the only thing that came of it - when I went to the Guild later to train, old Hamon told me he heard all about it, too. He just laughed and clapped me on the shoulder, and told me he'd love to give Elwin a punch in the face himself. I don't regret knocking that damned merchant on his arse one bit, but I'm glad that mess is settled. For a moment, I was sure my time at the Pugilists' Guild was over. This whole thing only made me even more certain that I made the right choice coming to Ul'dah and joining the Guild. I'm going to keep putting everything I have into training, and then some. I won't let swivers like that Elwin push me, or anyone else around. If you don't hear from me for a while, it's only because I may be too tired to pick up a quill. Or I ran into Elwin again and actually did end up in the dungeons this time. Ha! - Talha (PS - I promise I'm only joking about the dungeons.)
  4. These are pretty terrific! I like the group shots with the red background. Real cool.
  5. Hello, everyone!

For those of you who may be interested... (*crickets*) I've made myself one of those nifty carrd profiles for Talha. While there isn't much on there at the moment, I thought, why the heck not. Enjoy my terrible layout skills!

  6. Sosuh, I got into a fight today. Yes, I know that's not surprising, but I didn't start it this time, believe it or not. You probably don't, but by Shivah's frigid arse, this time it's true. I was cutting through this back alley - Pearl Lane, I think it's called. Sort of a rough place, usually filled with laborers and refugees. I don't think it has a very good reputation around the rest of Ul'dah. It wasn't my first time, though, so I wasn't worried. There were these merchants there, which was strange because usually they all seem too stuffy and soft to ever go somewhere like Pearl Lane. One of them was backed up against a wall and the other was standing over him, along with a pair of swivers. Third-rate cutthroats, I think, and they smelled like aldgoat shite. The nervous merchant was going on about payment or some other such. It sounded like he owed money. The other just brushed him off, something about how he "knew the arrangement". The nervous merchant pleaded, but then the two big swivers stepped toward him. They had a real nasty look in their eyes, too. I stepped in before I even realized what I was doing, and told the merchant with the cutthroats to piss off. He laughed at me and my tail bristled. Arrogant bastard. He said it had nothing to do with me and if I were smart, I'd walk away and forget I saw anything. I punched him in the face. His two friends were on me in seconds, drawing their swords. I was much faster. Master Hamon's training must have paid off, because even I was surprised at how quickly they ended up on the ground. I won't lie, it was amusing to watch the three of them stumbling off with their tails between their legs. I'd have laughed, if I hadn't been so agitated. But as he ran away, the cutthroat merchant started shouting at me, about how I didn't even know how much trouble I was in, how I'd regret everything, and how he was going to inform the Flames that some Miqo'te thug was attacking honest businessmen. The nervous merchant stayed behind. He thanked me, said nobody had ever stepped in on his behalf like that before. You and Mother would have been proud, I think. Even if I did settle things by fighting again. But I can't stop thinking about what the cutthroat merchant said. About how I would regret it and how he would get The Immortal Flames involved. Maybe he was talking out his arse, but maybe not. Would they believe the word of some stranger who has only been in Ul'dah a few bells? Eigth Hell, I need a drink. Or I need to punch something. Or both, in whichever order. Maybe this is why Mother never bothered much with cities. At least on the outside, predators look like predators. If you don't hear from me for a while, I was probably arrested for assault. Don't tell Mother. - Talha (OOC: Just wanted to make sure it's okay that I keep posting these separately as I get the urge to write them. I'm not sure if it would be preferable for me to just post them as replies to each other instead. If so, just let me know and I'll make sure I do that from now on!)
  7. Nice to meet you! Don't worry, the community is very welcoming and there are a bunch of us new players running around here. I'm pretty eager to get into the RP community as well, but I've been getting acquainted with everything first. Hopefully I'll see you around Eorzea!
  8. Sosuh, Guess what? No really, you must guess before you read any further. You better have guessed. You are now writing to an official member of the Eorzea Pugilists' Guild! Your little sister is on her way to becoming the best fighter around! Tell Duhsa, because the next time she calls me "the runt sister", I just may show her the Bootshine technique I learned! That's right, they're already teaching me techniques! (In case you're asking, no it doesn't have anything to do with literally shining boots. I didn't name it.) The Guildmaster is a strange old man, though. Hamon, they call him. They say his skill is legendary, but I don't know. Mostly he acts like a fool and a skirt chaser. Can you believe he actually mistook me for one of those lewd dancers when we first met? Me? I just about knocked him out then and there. I must admit though, for all of his buffoonery and unorthodox mannerisms (to put it mildly), the Guildmaster does at least seem to know what he's doing. There are plenty of other students at the guild and already I feel like I'm improving somewhat from where I was only a few bells ago. Just yesterday, he had me go out to Central Thanalan and instructed me to pluck ribbons off of hornets, which someone had already tied to their stingers. Twelve know how the hells they managed that. Perhaps that was someone else's training? I may have been stung more times than I care to count, but I do feel much faster now. I'm lighter on my feet than I was before, so perhaps there is wisdom to the old coot's training. Or, at least some wisdom. When I returned with the ribbons, Master Hamon then had me dilver them to different women around Ul'dah. He said it was to see just how effective the exercise had been at making me faster, but to be frank, I think he just wanted a date. On that note, I think I need a strong drink to help nurse these hornet stings. Unfortunately, I'll be drinking it on my feet. Some of those hornet stings won't allow for much sitting right now. - Talha (Future Best Fighter EVER)
  9. Sosuh, Sorry it's been so long since my last letter (long story), but I finally made it to Ul'dah. It feels like it took forever. The city is crowded, loud, and it smells like everything, all at once, all the time. I suppose it's exactly how we always imagined one would be, but there's so much of it, and it's always moving. Night or day, it's never still. Knowing her, it's no wonder Mother never brought us through one. And the godsdamned heat! Sometimes I can't tell if this is Eorzea or the seventh Hell itself. I honestly don't know how these people can stand it and I never thought I would miss the cold so much. How can a place get this hot without actually bursting into flames? Sorry. I know I'm complaining a lot, but I do like it here, even if it's overwhelming in some ways. I can already hear Mother scolding me in my head ("You aren't a child, Talha. Nobody wants to hear you whinging about everything"). Although even she would have a thing or two to say about the dancers I've seen around the city, shaking their tails for drooling idiots. Tomorrow, I'll be heading for the Pugilists' Guild. Or I'll try to, anyway. Ul'dah looks like a circle on my map, but somehow I still keep getting lost. You're probably snickering right now, so just shut it and don't write back anything cheeky, or by the Matron's teats, I will travel back up there and throw my boot at your head, so help me Gods. I love you and I miss you, by the way. All of you. Even Duhsa. But don't tell her I said that. I'll write again when I get the chance. - Talha PS - tell Mother I'm fine. She'd never say it, but you know she gets worried and starts to do that thing with her ears. (Lil OOC note: I'm brand new to FFXIV and still familiarizing myself with the lore, specifically where it pertains to Keepers of the Moon, so that I can flesh out my character's background some. Forgive me if anything here contradicts any established lore we've learned about them. I'll get better, promise!)
  10. Hello, everyone! This seems like the place to introduce myself to the world, so here I am. I suppose I should start by introducing you all to my character, or at least what I've worked out about her so far. I'd be lying if I said I know a great deal about her just yet. What I do know is that her name is Talha Nbolo and she enjoys punching things. She's a bit rough, a bit sassy, and a bit on the salty side, but I think she's got a good heart. Probably. She certainly seems interested in making money while she engages in her passion for hitting things. Beyond that, even I don't know much about her yet. She's a bit of a mystery to me right now and I'm still getting to know her. This is actually my first MMORPG, more or less. I dabbled with ESO some but never really engaged with the community. I'm still getting the hang of things and I'm pretty green, but I have a habit of roleplaying even when I'm playing a game alone. If I make a character, I like to work out where they came from, why they do the things I'm making them do, what they're thinking about, and what they want. So while the mindset isn't totally new to me, you fine people are my first real interaction with like-minded folks. So please bare with me if I'm still a bit clumsy with it all. While I can't say for sure how heavy my personal style of roleplaying is compared to others, what I can say based on my few in-game interactions so far, is that I usually try to remain in character and react to things as I think Talha would. I find that helps me get to know her a bit better. Anyway, sorry if this ran on for too long. I'm looking forward to getting to know the community. If you happen to see Talha running around Ul'dah, feel free to say hi!
