Gharen replied to YesGood's topic in Roleplay Events
Not sure about the specifics since I was at work but it can be safe to say that once in awhile this will occur especially closer to the holidays. -
Lets face it. Alot of us grew up with Final Fantasy. I still have my NES copy of the original in a box somewhere in the house, and I think it's safe to say that Nobuo Uematsu and other composers in SE's employ have come up with some astounding tracks over the years so lets post some of our favorites be they original, remixed or a cover. I'll start with posting some of the new ones that have caught my ear. =) cQH9n1VxQh4 bPnBR5QOkz8 The Following guy does makes his covers downloadable and has vids showing how to play some of his stuff. His Mass Effect covers particularly kick ass. WGyFaucjmBw lDbt04y7Iuw

One thing you can do if ripping it right off youtube isn't an option. Is to DL the program Audacity, and download the MP3 encoder plugin if that's what you're wanting to do. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq_i18n?s=install&i=lame-mp3 Once you've done that. Set the recorder to "What I hear" make sure the youtube vid is set the HQ hit record and press play. Anything piped through your machine will get captured. Once it's done, save, convert, and trim the ends if needed, editing is pretty simple. Once you're done make sure you change "what I hear" back to it's original setting then go to file, and exit. Otherwise if you use TS or some other voice program you send your game sounds to the people you're talking to.. it's an annoying little side effect Audacity has.

I really hate missing out on these, I seriously need a new job. -
The first few days I played kinda sucked. I'd specifically told friends that I wouldn't be joining their server because I wanted to scratch that RP itch, starting fresh on a server where you don't know anyone meant I needed to be more active about finding people to RP with. I took mental notes of people here on the forums I thought were pretty cool. I got lucky, Siobhain was starting The Grindstone LS and it fit the character concept I was working on nicely. Admittedly, it took me a couple of days to even send Sio a tell because I'm not overly social myself and felt kinda awkward trying to "put myself out there" so to speak. The result? I'm in an LS and FC with people I have a good time hanging out with, you can't hope for better than that.

There a tourney tonight? -
I've had the same problem. In the previous MMO I played, there was actually a political system in the game where each region had a ruler and my character was one of those rulers almost every term. She was basically like the President, but when she introduced herself people would just be like, "Oh okay hi." I understand a lot of characters may have no care or respect for nobility or authority (which seems far too common, to be honest...), but it was a little disheartening that no one seemed to really... react. Sadly, I don't really know what can be done about it, but I don't see it as a reason to abstain from playing characters who are nobility or otherwise in positions of power. I think alot of this reaction stems from the stigma of someone of elevating their character above others. Similar instances of this were in the thread regarding use of Artifact gear in rp it's the "What makes you so special!?" syndrome and is likely an offshoot of having to deal with mary sues and godmoders. Simply put being nobility demands a certain amount of respect from the get go. Which is something that many of us have been brought up is earned not given. This bleeds through our characters whether we know it or not. Also people that name their characters "Lord " or "Lady" don't help the situation at all. Personally, I have no issue with someone who's character is noble, as long as there is a believable reason this character is associating with and not lording over the rest of us rabble. Which By the way all of the reasons I've seen so far in this thread have been great.

Welcome to the RPC! There are lots of good people here, be sure to check out the Gilgamesh events and the linkshell hall, both are great resources to find like minded individuals.

Well, The Grindstone has alot of players in the evening, granted, we're combat oriented we have a little bit for everyone spectators, merchants etc. Especially healers who keep the rest of us ruffians from getting banged up too badly. The LS has upwards of 80 people in it and on off nights there can be 20 people or so there. If you're interested shoot a tell or moogle mail msg to Siobhain Surtsthalwyn, Khyros Oroban, or A'khenna Khai, You can contact me as well ingame as Gharen Wolfsong granted at this time I'm chained to my desk at work.

It's fun to watching to see what you come up with. =) -
This is what I get for running with multiple thoughts in my head while multitasking at work. In my experience earshot isn't too far in this game midpoint on the bridge to one of the posts on the ends seems to be a safe distance where things are not overheard.

Sadly, something -does- have to change. Two days out of the week doesn't seem like a big deal or anything but I have a baby and trying to force him to go to sleep early on nights he doesn't want to sleep is not conducive to a good mother-baby relationship. I'm always worried the tourney's not going to get off the ground without me. Not to mention as they are now they're incredibly chaotic and even I see that. Enjoyable, yes, but chaotic. There just has to be more that can be done. Changes -are- necessary, but in conjunction to them, additions are what I'm looking at and there don't have to be many but there will be a few. Likely I will just combine one or two of the ideas and use them for blood matches and the rest'll be IC things. So another change that needs to be implemented, someone needs to be designated as a tourney runner that can take up the slack for Sio. I'll be more than happy to run the tourneys those every other weds nights I have off. This way mom and baby can have a quality relationship and, as I'm sure we can all agree a mom that isn't frayed at the ends is a happy mom. Measuring earshot distance won't be to hard to figure out. Person A stands where we want a ring to be while occasionally saying something like "Can you hear me now?" while person B walks away from A and reports when they no longer see the spam, add a few meters extra distance to account for participants moving around and ta-da you have your ring location. In my experience it earshot isn't too far in this game midpoint

I. Basic Info Characters:Gharen Wolfsong, Silent Glacier, Jajaraji Nanaraji, Raih'a Nelhah Primary character:Gharen Wolfsong Linkshells: N/A Primary RP linkshell:N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to heavy. Dungeon runs, walk up, All are welcome, middle of the fight RP can be fairly unforgiving I've found. Views on RP combat and injuries: So long as it's not too permanent. Granted if it's something discussed and agreed upon ahead of time, I have little to no issues with it. Character Development is a good thing! Views on IC romance: I have no issues with this at all, granted I won't go chasing it, preferring to let something develop on it's own. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Once again I have zero issues with this. Gharen has a sister that was lost during the occupation of Ala Mhigo that may very well still be alive. Though I really don't know how they'd know each other if they met. Views on lore: I try and stay within the lore as much as possible. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): So long as it's obvious that what someone is saying is OOC or IC though I'm not the type to aggressively correct someone. III. Other Info Country:U.S.A. Timezone:(GMT-07:00) Mountain Time Contact info:I can be Pm'd here on the site as I check it fairly regularly. So, we could establish a rule that overseers can participate in events in a cycle. For instance I'm only ever able to make it to every other Weds tourney, so for me I'd only be able to fight in one tourney, then ref the next. I have no issues with taking on the added responsibility of solely reffing matches either to take up the slack just so long as I get some out of tourney challenges from time to time. Gharen still has to rematch Sio (effing dice lol)

One thing about holding multiple fights especially in close proximity is as Sio has mentioned is the rp spam of not only the fighters but the spectators as well. Simple fix is to spread fights out so that the log isn't just flying by. Having the "rings" spread out so fights are out of earshot will make things easier on the fighters especially so things are not missed, Grindstone Overseer's will be needed to watch the fights so that Sio is not doing all the work in a very confined space. The fights are currently held like this unless things have changed over the last few days I've been chained up in the salt mines. (i.e. work) A B C D Having the rings this close together with spectators to the side while nice and compact creates a stream of things going on that is difficult to keep up with. Having things spread out like below will cut back on spam and be a step in a direction where we might be able to do larger tourneys. A B C D Or A B C D Thoughts? Added thought: Sio+Qaeli Dance off = nose bleeds for everyone.

Characters in media that influence/are similar to your character!
Gharen replied to Orlog's topic in RP Discussion
As Gharen wasn't really based on any character in particular. I've thought about who he resembles. Closest I can come up with is Himura Kenshin. http://static.zerochan.net/Himura.Kenshin.full.93377.jpg[/img] -

Gharen is very much a North American Grey Wolf.

Gharen is very much a wandering samurai, so I listen tracks from the last samurai and Sword of the Stranger, stuff like that. rf__aD7fKos -0O78AkAY6E
