He smiles softly for a moment. "Aye, tha may be." The soft smile becomes a sly grin as he looks to Evangeline. "Mayhaps I shall have te devise a nickname fer tha' prickly nature o' yers Miss Primrose." "Would ye like te take th' day te practice what ye've learned? I need te think upon how best te approach yer next lessons."
-
This last question came as something of a surprise. He turned away to pick up his shield, he almost considered not answering it. He picked up his shield and turned to look at Eva, His voice was solemn. "Aye, I have." And then it hit him. He gave her a look as he wasn't quite certain he'd heard her correctly. "Did ye jus' call me Grimsong?"
-
He shakes his head slightly "None taken, I assure ye. An I'd be lyin' if I did nae wonder if I would be a suitable teacher fer ye." He approaches Evangeline, holding his hand briefly above the cut on her arm as tendrils of a green hue reach forth to Eva and the wound begins to mend. "I've nae formal trainin' in th' spiritual aspect o' bein' a paladin. My path, started filled with doubt o' my very own worthiness o' th' title, eventually, it simply became a feelin', one tha' i have followed since." He pulls his hand away from her arm satisfied when all that remains is simply dried blood. "If'n ye feel th' need fer a different teacher Miss Primrose I will nae be offended. I know my limitations, all I can do is impart my experiences upon ye." "I think tha' shall be enough sparrin' fer teday, it will give ye some time te practice. Unless there was somethin' else ye wished te cover?"
-
He shakes his head at her annoyance. "I'm nae patronizin' ye. Ye responded properly given th' circumstance ye faced." He takes a breath and returns his blade to it's sheath as he delves into the next topic. "Far as th' twelve goes, a cycle ago I'd have agreed with ye. I used te think tha' any bein' tha' did nothin' te help th' helpless were nae worth th' energy used te worship them." He pausing for a moment, setting his shield down and crossing his arms. "An' then th' cavern in Coerthas happened, I realized tha' mayhaps everythin' up te tha' point had been a test." He motions toward the refugee camps. "Much as this moment could be their test, we all have a place an' time tha' acts as a crucible, a forge if'n ye will, tha' is meant te make us who we are ultimately meant te become." He kneels and stretches out his left leg again. "Far as weatherin' a flurry o' attacks like tha', watch fer an openin', an if one dinnae present itself a it will abate soon enough, tis rare tha' someone can hold such a pace fer long without tirin'. Th' can also create an openin' in yer defenses as ye saw.. so be wary lass."
-
Gharen watches as Evangeline reacts to each individual strike as she deftly blocks the first several swings. The final swing, causing her to lose her blade, he grins in approval as the look of defiance crosses her face and covers up in defense just before her shield collides with his. The sound of impacted metal rings out across the desert, the force behind it was apparent, though it wasn't the hardest he'd been hit, it did it's job, forcing him to pause his assault and put space between them. "Well done Miss Primrose."
-
Gharen assumes his combat stance once more. "Ready yourself lass." He starts off much in the manner that she did originally, a simple thrust, easily blocked by her shield. He promptly changes though with a swing from high and to the left, followed by a midsection swipe, and another aimed low toward her legs. "Remember lass watch me shoulders an' ye'll get a good idea where it's comin' from."
-
He gives her a moment to dust herself off. "You leave yerself open in two ways tha' I can see. Lookin' fer a weakness is fine, but te follow repeated attacks tha' have jus' been parried or blocked repeatedly, by more o' th' same tha' is jus' more powerful, an' by then, predictable, will leave ye open te counter, an' at th' very minimum, a sore behind." "Th' other is th' fact tha' yer relyin' too much on power from yer shoulders fer yer swings an thrusts it slows ye down and makes ye easy te read. Yer frame isn't built fer hittin' harder, but smarter." He pauses for a moment to let her digest this information. "Instruction time." he states flatly, patting his right shoulder, "Watch yer opponent's shoulders an' ye'll be able te see an' attack commin' do it enough an' ye'll be able te read em' like a book. Also, remember how I told ye te move when hittin' someone with yer shield?" He points to his right foot and slowly reenacts the twisting of the body that transfers power through the legs into the hips and out through the arm. "Tha' is where yer power will come from lass. Think o' it like a spring bein' wound up, an let go. Ye'll hit harder, an faster with less effort." He takes a step back rests his thumbs in his belt his sword hangin' loose at his side. "Ye catch all tha?"
-
Gharen takes note of the wound on her arm, Minor, and wouldn't need more than a bandage without a conjuror. The sound of sword against shield rang out as Evangeline's thrusts were intercepted. He watched the young woman's shoulder as he mentally counted the times she attempted her thrusts "One.. two.. Three.." When she reared her arm further for a stronger thrust, he stepped to the side as her blade flew forward. He attempted to grapple her wrist with his shield hand and force her momentum forward on a follow through hopefully causing her to stumble, and to reinforce the lesson, swung the flat of his blade low to attempt to land a smack across her rump. "Those are fine reasons Miss Primrose, ones tha' I cannae argue with. What are yer views regardin' th' twelve then?"
-
His demeanor becomes one of calm concentration as he watches her movements, Gharen takes a quick step back to let the swing pass by, his retaliation quickly follows with the flat of his blade aimed for her exposed sword arm. "So tell me Miss Primrose, exactly what draws ye te want'n te be a Free Paladin?"
-
He stands up to his full height after stretching. "Tis well enough." he says, as he steps over to a crate that had been turned into a makeshift table and picks up his sword and shield. "I've had a few, most were lookin' te learn th' Lance, I've only taught one other in th' use o' sword an' shield. As fer yer previous instructors, well, les' jus' say tha' this'll be a learnin' experience fer us both. Aye?" He steps back over into the dust and dirt. "Rules" he thought, clear cut and explained outright. "We will be sparrin' teday Miss Primrose. Feel free te improvise, but keep it honorable, as a paladin, ye'll be held te a higher standard than th' petty thuggery o' bandits an' some Brass Blades." He gave her a moment to let that sink in and then added the caveat. "I may present ye some "unconventional" challenges te test yer reactions te changing circumstances. But this won' be an unmitigated brawl, understand?" He assumes a balanced combat stance several feet in front of the young elezen woman with sword and shield at the ready.

Gharen stood out behind the refugee camps in the clearing he'd chosen as training ground. The desert air was cool and crisp against his face, and the sounds of the camp stirring with the rising of the sun was becoming more apparent as they prepared for the the day ahead of them. One more day of hoping to earn enough gil in order to feed their families, another day of survival, only for it to start all over again the next day. A life he remembered all too well. He crouched, with his left leg outstretched. His knee was still sore, a gift from his new student, but no more so now than the other aches and pains from old injuries. He contemplated how best to teach the girl, she seemed to focus on the literal so much that the actual lesson was not being heard. He wondered briefly if he would be up to the task of teaching someone so detail oriented. He pushed the thoughts out of his mind as he looked to his right and saw his new student entering the camps. Today's lesson, would likely need to be clearly defined. "Mornin' Miss Primrose."

If there are any the community for that server is likely to be small, and I don't know of any pheonix RP'ers here on the RPC. =/

I pretty much ground my crafting to a halt with the mastercrafts, Hiding everything behind a wall of Gil and RNG for melds is a sure fire way to get alot of people to flat out not even bother. Only reason I see to work on crafting classes any longer is to repair my own gear and outfit my lower lvl classes.

So, I'll tell you what to expect as I had mine out probably... 13 years ago now? You'll likely get a couple of small incisions. Not more than the width of a nickle (I had three). As Coatleque said it's standard stuff, and they'll knock you out. Here's the part that is going to be hard if your after effects are anything like mine. Your entire body is going to feel like you've been hit by a truck for a few days, Everything is going to hurt. Moving in general is going to suck, so having someone around to wait on you will be a plus when you get home. Just make sure it's not someone that will run into your room and dive onto your bed when you wake up like my brother did to me... You'll likely get some good painkillers so there's that.. Just take it easy for a few days afterward, rest up and heal, we'll keep your spot here warm for you.

Sex and Your Character/Roleplay (NSFW Discussion)
Gharen replied to Dat Oni's topic in RP Discussion
Gharen's view on sex and sexuality is pretty much tainted by his past. He doesn't actively seek a relationship, doesn't flirt, and sex quite literally doesn't even enter into his thought process as that drive has basically been beaten out of him. He was raised believing that he was less than worthless and that no woman would ever want him as such. He is more or less completely oblivious to subtle social cues regarding this as a result. He'd never been with a woman until not long ago, and was laughed at when he admitted the fact. And to this day remains both surprised and confused as to why she'd ever wanted to be with him from the get go, regardless of how often she, or others, might tell him why. (Years of abuse and belief, just don't get unraveled in a day.) That said, I think sex and relationships in RP can be important and are a viable means of character development regardless of the means via fade to black or not. One thing I'd like to point out is in CoH there was a distinction players made that I don't really see get made here very often if at all between MRP and ERP. ERP being players that were just doing the act for kicks, and MRP for people that actually RP and would delve into mature topics for story or character development. -
So after much thought, I wind up returning to the character that Gharen was patterned after to start with, Gabriel Belmont from the Lords of Shadow series as voiced by Robert Carlyle 0cm6dhrkKD4 DAH0IjSX6EM

I'm kind of in the same boat, I've never quite been able to find a celebrity or otherwise that reminds me of or looks like my characters. Probably because I've never based any of them on any.

Remnants of a Life Inexpertly Led (Open, OOC comments ok)
Gharen replied to 111's topic in Town Square (IC)
The campfire's glow reflected on Gharen's face as he sat in the dust and dirt with his back against a rock, the nights catch cooked over the dancing flames. He held the package before him that the moogle had delivered, he'd had much to think about as of late, Hornet's words for him before she left, and a plan set in motion that had been brought to a grinding halt with an untimely death. At this moment though he quietly wondered how the little fuzz balls managed to find him in his camps every time someone sent him something. He regarded the name of the sender surprised somewhat to see Miss Crofte's name on something sent to him. He removed the twine and heavy paper, revealing a container of ointment. He unfolded the letter that had been enclosed with it and began to read. He set the container down and quietly folded the letter back up. He looked up into the clear night sky of Thanalan. He'd never hated Natalie even with all that she had done, he'd certainly been angry with her, if anything he'd seen potential in her despite her hard headed approach to a situation. He placed the heavy wrapping paper and twine into the fire and removed the meal he'd been cooking. As the paper and twine were reduced to ash the Flames popped and cracked, sending embers skyward into the Thanalan air, he quietly issued a prayer to Thal to look kindly upon the stubborn girl that recently entered his halls. -
Not really a fan of the face paint eyebrows cause it looks like your character (not yours in particular just any character.) dunked their thumbs into a paint can and ran them above their eyes and called it good. I'm with Berrod though.

Tiergan's Thread of Shameless Self-Promotion [No Commissions. Apologies.]
Gharen replied to Tiergan's topic in Artisan House
Thank you Tiergan, I love it =) -
So, what denotes activity? Because I was removed and I'm on daily.

Gharen is unlikely do die peacefully. and I see this going down in one of two ways. Good ending: Gharen attains his dream of mastering all known forms of combat becoming an Ala Mhigan weapons master, He dies soon after in battle against an overwhelming enemy in defense of his loved ones. He dies happy, knowing that his family live on and his life had meaning. Bad ending: The experiments conducted on him by Raelisanne Banurein have left an unseen lasting effect upon Gharen and he finally loses his internal battle of wills with his id, either having evolved into a completely separate dominant personality or remaining a base vicious animal, the wolf becomes a threat to all. Roen, Hornet and Qaeli are forced to track him down and end Gharen's life.
