PC version of 2.0 load performance SSD vs. hdd?
Noelle replied to Niteshade_Rune's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I'm no computer whizz, but I upgraded to a SSD for my main drive quite a while back, and the difference is pretty noticable in both games and software that run from it. I can't say anything about the difference in 2.0, but there was a notable difference in loading and zone transitions with swapping to an SSD in 1.0. I wouldn't say it's a necissary change by a long shot though. -
Then you didn't read it close enough. >u>

Which version of the game you have doesn't effect which server choices you can make. They have servers recommended for locations, but the choice is entirely yours as to where you play.

So much black. >u>;;

I think it's neat! And I'd support it. My only real suggestion would be against spreading out your shope crafted stock, and sticking to those three. You've got three of the crafts covered, and they're all good ones. Realistically a shop shouldn't try and cater to everything, and focus on doing what it does well. It also mean you'll run less risk of treading too many toes. That's just my thoughts on that, but I do like it.

This is neat! Remi 1.0 Remi 1.0 in ARR Remi 2.0: A Remi Reborn Only difference is hair colour changes (and a minor eye colour tweak). Finally got a real black for hair. *//w//*

Hi there! Fellow UK-ian myself~ The server itself is NA based, and it's aimed towards both NA and EU players, there's no segregation. There are quite a number of RPers (and more coming in) who live in the UK, and that increases your chance of being able to RP with them. Of course there are people who you'll struggle to meet like you said, as many people are from NA. It's worth noting that often events might fall outside of times that are 'agreeable' to us EU people. >u> But in my experience, people are eager to try and get others involved and will try and keep events flexible. Back in 1.0 there were a number of EU-based linkshells on Balmung too.

That's interesting. I was under the impression it refered to a smaller group of warriors. In the End of an Era trailer the Warriors of Light are portrayed using the original party from the 1.0 CS. I realise they're either the 'stand in' for the actual PCs or fellow adventurers, but I guess I got hooked on the idea of them and the more traditional use of the term refering to the party in classic titles. During Gridania's introduction, Mionne atleast refers to a "band of valiant adventurers" which I read as meaning a singular party. Though I see it can be taken to mean more than that now. Don't get me wrong, but isn't it entirely a matter of perspective at this point? @ Aysun: Sorry if you read it that way. I was under the impression you just didn't understand what I was trying to say and tried to re-iterate the key point. I guess I just don't see the point in having people forget who you are, and was trying to explain my feelings and take on the setup. How I personally intend on approaching it atleast. I sort've understand in that it could lead to interesting RP scenarios. But I see it as more of a pain in the behind. Having someone forget you, and you trying to get them to remember? Not so bad. Having everyone you know do it to you could get tedious real quick. And I guess the idea of people getting fed up with doing it and glossing over interactions for certain people stands out as a massive negative point for that approach. Part of me feels like it'd be like undoing all the RP you have done.

I feel like you sort've missed my point, but that's fine I realise it's hard to grasp. Remi was at the battle herself, she time warped. I am one of those who was there, please don't cut me out so quickly. I'm trying to say that the iconic Warriors of Light that the people have forgotten would be the -main characters- in the -main story- of the game. I don't see why everyone else who was present but not the light warriors is forgotten, it never mentions that. Infact they're clearly remembered, with the GC leaders as examples. I could be mistaken, of course. You might be RPing out all the story missions and being the hero of Eorzea and have been all chummy with the NPCs. But yeah, that's just my interpretation. Sorry if it still doesn't make sense.

I like Roegadyns. >u> There are some wondeful examples in this thread of what makes them great. I support the boom in Fem Roegs.

So I figure I’ll hop in, and try and give my own personal take on this. And I’ll state now that I’ve only done a few of the story missions, so my experience might be limited too. If you have something that says otherwise to what I think, let me know. Now Louisoix transported those at the battle through time. This includes at the very least the GC leaders, all of whom return and everyone knows who they are. So I’d be inclined to believe that the erasure of memories isn’t tied to the time travel at all. People know that the GCs were there, and that the adventurers fought to defend the realm. It’s the Warriors of Light who people have forgotten. So then, who are the Warriors of Light? Well any PC from 1.0 is essentially the warrior of light, that’s how the story works. But as RPers, I can’t think of anyone of the top of my head who’s actually RPing as the character who's progressing down the central story of the game itself. We know of the GCs, some of us have the Echo and some might say they’ve met these key NPCs. But we’re not the Warriors of Light. At least Remi isn’t. Remi was at the battle, and I’m having her warped through time. How does this look to others? She’d have been missing for many years, suddenly to reappear unchanged in age or knowledge. Amazing! Except that’s nothing unique. There’s more than one person this has happened to. A large chunk of us, the GC leaders and likely others too. Then there would be those who claim to have been warped, who further dilute the time warping. My thoughts on the Warriors of Light are that they’re not us. They’re adventurers who fought at the vanguard for Eorzea, and stand as a beacon to those who will follow. They’re an ideal. They’re the heroes who we played, but don’t RP as. Remi will remember them too, as both those at the Flats recall and those who met them during their adventures do. As for NPC reactions, to me it seems to work both ways. If you’re an original 1.0 Light Warrior or a newcomer for story purposes. Many of the chat dialogue seems fixed from the parts I’ve seen, in Ul’dah you meet Stud-muffin Thancred. Who says “…Ah. Wait a moment. It occurs to me that we may have…” which I want to follow with “..met before” as a recollection of the Warrior of light who everyone has forgotten. There’s other similar lines throughout, even as a new character. But it could just as easily be that he can ‘feel’ the same sort’ve presence from the PC as the previous Light Warrior. Something that I think Raubahn touches on. That you’re inherently herioic, gifted with the Echo, and touched by the mother crystal Haedalyn. As were the Light Warriors before you. You can claim to be those light warriors, but there’s no evidence that you are, and I’m certain that many people would falsely make that same claim for personal gain. That’s my thoughts on it, atleast. tl;dr The Light Warriors are forgotten. But I'm not a Light Warrior.

Remi's Chocobo was named Crumpet, and I don't think I'll change it either. 'Cause it was yellow, and I'm brittish and crumpets. All hail britannia.

As said above, it looks as though (presently atleast) there are no actual EU servers. So even the 'recommended' servers for EU players are unlikely to have much difference in ping as it stands. It's a shame, I'll admit, but for me I never had any intention of going anywhere else anyway.

I love black and white art. And I love small or minimal usses of colour in mainly monochrome pieces to bring attention to certain areas or features. What I'm trying to say is I love your stuff.

Welcome back Sera~ ♥

This also works for me. Because of the long running nature of RP thingies, I'd like to get started before say~ 9pm GMT though. As I've often had to leave before stuff is over because the sun rises and shines on my monitor. The times just an example though, I'm prettymuch just asking that it not be started too late.

Ah, you're in the same boat as me Blue. >u>;; I was super worried about the new servers, and the possibility that they'd be doing regional segregation. But as Deir said the plan seems to be to have servers open to everyone. It's just that they're going to have servers based in various places. So your ping will be better if you pick a EU server, but it should otherwise be a free choice... Also I'd like to think splitting people by region, and sundering any connections made while the servers were multiregion in 1.x should stand out as an all round poopy idea.

*cough*Nevergonnahappen!*cough* From what I've read around, there were already gunblades found in the data. Also, there is the musketeer guild and SE has expressed the possibility of future release of this class. Overall, Tyonis's wish may be one of the most possible ones to be fulfilled. Back to the topic... I would really like if like NPCs, characters moved their mouth after entering a chat message in /say. Wahaha~ While it is true that they were there, they had to be in the data files since a certain antagonist wielded one and was fully rendered in-game. There was also the Gunhalberd in there, but being able to wield that is even less likely than a Gunblade class. While a Gunblade class would be super popular, I wouldn't count on them adding it just because of the model being in the files. As for what I would like added, the Musketeer class was something I was anticipating since forever ago... And will have to keep waiting for. A card game or anything similar that you could play together with others would be very welcomed too. All of the gambling~! *u* I guess... something else I've wanted for quite a while is access to other races emotes... >u>; Like, some miqo'te ones are great, but I'd love to be able to do some of the Hyur or Elezen ones too.

I for one would not want individual pages for NPCs in the RPC wiki. Any amount of thought put into how the old wiki ended up as it was should give you some hints as to why, at least in my oppinion, it's a terrible idea. With every game launch, a large number of players learn that the game is not for them, which is fine. With the launch of XIV, many of the RPC members found this for themsleves (and I too would have left if the RPC wasn't around back then), and left the game and these very forums. But what was left behind was numerous wiki pages, many little more than stubs, some the very bare-bones template that was handed out. Now imagine this but with the addition of NPC pages. It could very easily and quickly go way out of hand, with creative but short-lived players making perhaps a dozen or more sheets for their characters associates, only to leave them abandoned or unfinished. I hope you can see what I mean with this atleast, even if my example isn't entirely clear... You can now chime in, saying "Oh, we'll just delete unused pages." or "We can set a minimum requirement!" or something, but it's obviously not that simple right? Who gets to determine when this happens, or what the specific rules about this would be? Maybe we could hold a poll on that, and then swiftly ignore the results because they don't suit you. Also: Removing the majority of your wiki page because of a little disagreement. Sure is mod material in here.
