  1. Aya's one of those RPers who I absolutely would love to see more of in-game than I currently do. Her character is very easy to like, and as a person, she's one of the nicest I've ever met.
  2. Why must you assault my brain with cuteness?
  3. Edgar is actually a deeply religious man, a philosopher in the same sense as Thomas Aquinas, who through studies of Aristotle, confirmed the soundness of "logical argument" and used it to prove God and investigate his nature. He believes the Twelve to be divine and absolute, even irrefutable, and defies anyone to prove him wrong. Out of all the Twelve, however, Edgar has most given himself over to Nymeia, the Spinner. Born under her sign, Edgar proceeded to have a miserable, unfortunate life, seeing many die and doubting himself intensely. In depression, he proceeded to convince himself he has never had a say in anything because the Spinner has and always been leading him on a specific path, one he is either graced with or doomed to follow. He prays to her every night, and often asks things like "What thread have you woven for me, this time, Nymeia?" in response to questionable events or occurrences. He occasionally puts on a front of happiness mixed with bouts of manic euphoria, but this is just to try and fool people into thinking he hasn't been completely and utterly crushed to the point of giving up and letting Nymeia take the wheel (Get it? Because spinning whee-I'll stop.) This may have all gone to his head, though, because nothing surprises him anymore; everything is expected, and most threats perceived as intangible in the grand scheme of the God he thinks he knows. The truth is, he's dodging responsibility for his life in a big way. Surprisingly, for all his disgust aimed at Ala Migho and those who wish to revive it (what he calls a "sordid legacy best left forgotten"), Edgar actually acknowledges, respects and even prays to Rhalgr every now and then, as he is Nymeia's attendant. http://puu.sh/k68mS/1611e26024.png[/img] TL;DR He'll take you to Church. And the Churchity Church.
  4. I think the issue with trying to reboot your character is that you're retconning encounters with what is probably a bunch of people by now. If you have any dedicated friends or foes, this puts a lot of guilt on you. That's my issue with Edgar, sadly.
  5. Kokoporo found himself dwarfed by the shadow of the approaching gentle giant. He knew Magma Dancer posed no threat, but..."Let the women handle this", though? He couldn't help but feel the slightest bit insulted by that sentiment; Male he may have been, he was here to do no harm. If there was one thing he agreed on, though, it was getting Steel out of the public eye and ideally sobered up. He didn't know why Steel was so drunk, nor why she was so violent, but all these questions and more could be answered at another time, without the peanut gallery involved. He lightly tapped at Steel's shoulder, trying to get her attention. "H-hey...Miss Dancer's right, ya know." He smiled, hoping to reassure her; the last thing he wished for was for her to think he was angry with her. "Let's go somewhere else, and we can talk about it, right...? As friends?"

  7. The same thing over and over? Was it "I like swords", by any chance?
  8. In a world full of AFK players idling away as they occupy precious spots for people to join the server, one man with an axe takes a stand... This Spring 2016, comes a hero literally no one was asking for and didn't know they needed... Evil idlers, step away from your keyboards...If you dare!
  9. MNK LB is obvious: gettttttt dunked on!
  10. Well of course! That is part of the fun. Then again, would it not be considered atleast somewhat raided, for the lack of a better term, by a few hordes of adventurers? Considering that it has been accessible now and all of that. I could imagine that getting in and out would be harder. In all honesty, I have yet to understand people who want to align White Magic with evil when it's so clearly not designed to do anything more than heal. Even weaponizing it appears to be extremely harmful in retrospect, and may very well be what accelerated the War of the Magi's damage of the earth itself. There's plenty of other magical schools that are either on the edge of evil, or just outright evil. I guess I just don't understand why someone would want to use the one intrinsically good and beneficial school of magic that way when there are much easier, and more sensible schools to access. On a purely narrative level, I'm sure there's something appealing in exploring the theme of "Light Is Not Good", and that tools are no more good or evil than their wielders. I'm not sure the healing capabilities of white magic would be appreciated as "good" if it was used to, say, keep a torture victim alive during interrogation in order to break them, or if a bad guy's conjurer croney managed to keep an explicitly evil boss alive and protected so that said explicitly evil boss can go set orphanages on fire. Is white magic beneficial? Absolutely. But to whom it is beneficial can change the morality behind its usage radically. Of course, ignoring all the lore stuff. I'm just talking about narrative context, here. I love exploring morality. Narratives that question the natures of good and evil, whether man is inherently responsible for its actions or if the concept they created are, or, my personal favorite: Man is wrong and continues to understand nothing because we cannot comprehend the horrible truth. "Black and white? Good and evil? Pfft. Such are the names mankind uses to contextualize the creeping madness around it. To lend sense to nonsense. To justify the unjustifiable. To bring order to chaos. The world is a massive contorting canvas slathered in shades of grey. There are no extremes. Right and wrong are pliable; defined in the moment, ever-changing. Nothing is consistent. Nothing is absolute. There is no black, there is no white. There is only grey."

  12. Kopo frowned up at her, shaking his head slowly back and forth at what Steel had become. It reminded him of his own bad times, when he had come to the Quicksand to drown his own sorrows; it never worked for him, and it sure as hell wasn't doing Steel any favors, either. Crossing his arms, he huffed at the drunken Roegadyn's 'threat'. The Steel Wolf was like a cornered animal; that delivery suggested a bark much worse than her bite. "You couldn't hit the broad side of an Adamantoise in this state, Steel."
  13. Welcome to the RPC, and Balmung! I'll be sure to keep my eyes out for you in-game.
  14. Relax, you'll do fine. How could you possibly fuck it up, anyroad? Well how long do you have? You might want to get a chair and a drink because this could be a long list. I came prepared. Lay it on me.
  15. Wait...So he basically spawned in and immediately ran to sacpull an entire room? Quick question, but, what instance was it where your tank did this, because I'm grasping at straws for maybe an "inexperience" excuse for this one?

  17. For me, my insecurities lie with trying to get a plot arc going so my character is more than a walking backstory, but being afraid to do so because I feel I may not be able to get an interesting enough story going or that I'll somehow just manage to completely fuck it up.
  18. Kokoporo gladly backed on out of the way for the Blade to leave. In the short time that he had been involved in the ongoing drunken shenanigans, he hadn't seen much helping from the man as much as brazen insults, attitude, and oh yeah, standing between Kopo and his best friend. Bloody Blades: corrupt and good for nothing, he thought to himself, as he quickly occupied the space where he used to be. "Steel! Steel!" He shouted at her. "What the hells do ya think yer doing?" He looked up at her with great concern, hoping his presence would at least be a relief from the slurry of insults. Kopo was her friend; perhaps she might be happy to see him?
  19. Answer: Not happening. Because the Laladyn is probably sterile.
  20. Relevant vent: Queued for Expert Roulette the other day, ended up in Antitower with an SCH who was full-out gung-ho DPS and would remain in Cleric Stance with Selene out, frequently allowing me to drop below 5.k HP when I still haven't transitioned from a full STR build. Oh, and I'm i209 on WAR so there's THAT. Never before have I had to be so methodical and meticulous in planning, using, and rotating my defensive cooldowns. This has happened to me before, but I wasn't the one in the tank seat. I don't often get SCH in my group, so this problem usually comes from the WHMs. We once had a wipe because the healer was so distracted and trying to DPS. I'm fine with healers wanting to DPS, but you gotta know how to keep that balance. I am b no means the best healer, but at least I do my best to try to not get so distracted by trying to DPS. I was having this issue with healers long before the recent patch changes. I appreciate the extra dps, but only if it comes at the right time. I've had WHMs spamming holy while I drop to critical hp. But none of that compares to the issue I'm having recently; these asshole healers who put a Regen on you RIGHT BEFORE YOU PULL A MOB. Goddammit, people, do you not understand what I'm trying to do? Nothing pisses me off more than Shield-Tossing a mob just to watch the other 9/10s of the trash rush past me and begin aggroing everyone but me, while the healer stands there completely inert because he's typing that I should've moused over and removed the buff that shouldn't have even been there to begin with. Fuck that shit.
  21. I work around this with Edgar by intentionally making his Keeper attributes dominant and the differences brought on by his Seeker blood very subtle, so when the inevitable explanation time comes, I can play it off as them simply not noticing because they were hard to spot to begin with. This is an acceptable way to skip around it, but it does lend itself to two other potential hang-ups: The first is that you're telling someone their character isn't attentive enough to catch this in the first place, and the second is that if it never comes up, it's a worthless trait in 95% of your RP. That ties back to what someone else said about examining why you'd want to do it in the first place. Universal "you" in this paragraph, not calling anyone out specifically. I just want to highlight that even the solutions offer potential problems. I don't think anyone has ever had their character or even OOCly become offended by a potential implication that they may not be attentive in interactions with Edgar. If anything, they seem to roll with it.

  23. A one on one fight with Kokoporo can mean only one theme: zle-RdHmlDg Hell. Yes.
