I am well aware of the Grindstone. I've been to a few of the events and know some of the fighters both in and out of character. I had figured you all had some sort of ls or otherwise so I wanted to create something a little different. Certainly not trying to step on anyone's toes here. I did not play 1.0 (I was off playing another game at the time). I started in 2.0. I'm basing it more around how it is portrayed in that particular setting and how other players play it off to be like. The Hildibrand quests gave us some pretty good insight on some of the Coliseum's workings in the current setting. It is this huge piece of Ul'dah's culture. My idea with this linkshell is not really like a grindstone, it's not to get together and beat the shit out of each other (well if you want to, more power to you). I want it to be something more like a way to find other people who fight in the Bloodsands and play with them outside the arena, connecting the fighters and the fans in a more social way than combative. I'd like it to be like one of my other ls's, a general interest as well. A good foundation to start meeting people who play characters with similar origins or interests, forming relationships, and finding new rp. Sure, going to the Quicksand is always an option, but that's like going to the bar in real life. You don't always find people with similar interests and interjecting into a party chat can be a little intimidating for some people. Personally, Val and his gladiator friend have a lot in common. They train together, they talk about fights, complain about the newbies, hell they even play cards sometimes. Beating the shit out of each other is fun, yes, but I personally like the social aspect of it too. I'd like to be able to bring people together on both aspects.

Well that is the point. To make something big like that.

I play a gladiator, and honestly not knowing many others who participate in the Bloodsands is kinda silly, right? Val has one friend he hangs out with, but there have to be more fighters and fans from the Coliseum. I know there's been attempts in coordinating a list of gladiators, but why not make it easier to meet other competitors and fans for rp? Personally, I know I want to. Having two gladiators talk about competitions, shoddy recruits, and their last bout is really great. Personally I want to find more gladiators and fans myself, make new connections and get Val out there talking to people in his weirdly archaic way. Joining a general ls was one of the greatest ideas for my alt, so I, along with the player of Val's gladiator friend, am starting up a general interest LS for all Bloodsands people. Gladiators (new, old, retired, aspiring), admirers, fans, and even staff or support can join. Anyone who would like to be involved in this sort of thing! I got a dusky trying to learn about chakras right now. He is really mellow until you get him sparring or going out to hunt critters. Hit me up on either Valentinoix Thibault (the dusky) or Jeantremont Arbeau (my alt). The latter of the two is in the Ishgardian LS.

I think both my boys might benefit from joining. My main, Valentinoix, is an avid miner. He really doesn't care for coin but he does like weird trinkets and foods and equipment. (Even if he's paid in coin, that is where it all goes) My alt, Jeantremont, is an old crotchety medicinal alchemist, if you can make use of him. I'll hit you up in game sometime. I'd like to make some more connection for both my boys.

I have a newly rehashed character who might be of interest. He's not exactly a noble but he is pretty well entwined in the Ul'dahn society (both high and low. He dun discriminate). He's a bit of a grump, 85 years old, colored like tan in a can, and is grossly in love with his bounty hunter wife. He likes fancy clothes, good food, and bling. I haven't quite decided what alignment is he is yet, but given that he "defied Halone" and ran away from being a lowborn in Ishgard (and got away with it), he probably can be paid to look the other way. His name is Jeantremont Arbeau. Feel free to hit me up in game. I'm good with casual putzing around to talking over food or turning up noses at people ICly. He is a medicinal alchemist, so if that needs to be a starting point, it works for me. I also do have an underground trafficker, if you ever have a need for the less scrupulous sort.

I have a relatively new character, formerly a lowborn of Ishgard but he fled and eloped with a lady knight, the love of his life. I would love some rp for my old man giraffe. I shall seek y'all out tonight. I hope there are some people on late PST.

"Hey, love," he greeted Reinette with a smile. "Not an intrusion at all. Come join us." He beckoned her over, offering the extra seat next to him (because more than four chairs can fit at a table, of course). "Good to see you again. I think we were going to order food at some point. Something not fish." Although Jancis had ordered something, Sigurd had come a little later and hadn't quite gotten anything yet. He nodded to Franz. "That's right. I study every aspect I can about them. Reinette helps me with some of the physiological details. I'm always happy to listen to stories about them. It helps add some observational details and informations about encounters and behaviors." He often liked to listen to stories, but some voidsent were just too rare or too dangerous to have any. Sometimes it was those particular voidsent which interested him the most.

Sigurd offered a nod in greeting to Otto as he pondered over what a typical Limsan cuisine would be. Fish came to mind. More fish did too. It was always fish with ale or wine. That last part he liked, it was the fish he didn't particularly care for. He tugged at the staff clinging to his back, removing it and propping it up against the table so he could lean back in the chair. He figured he could at least order some wine and something to snack on, maybe breadsticks. Franz wasn't wrong, after all. It was nice to pull his nose out of books and smell the fresh sea air. It always smelled so salty and moist here compared to the arid air of Thanalan. "I research voidsent and the void," he replied to Franz. It was an unusual field, something even the most daring of thaumaturges tended to avoid. But then there was Sigurd, a voidsent researcher for three years now, talking about it like he was talking about what he was going to order. "I study their movements, abilities, behaviors, even what they like to eat. I've been called out a few times to help assess situations and clear out voidsent nests. I really do enjoy what I do, but sometimes, you're right. It is nice to come out and sit by the sea." He was quickly distracted by Otto's rather bold attempt to thieve Franz of his shirt. He really should've expected it. This was the beach and shirtless people weren't exactly an unusual sight. Sigurd swore half of Coral would just rip off their clothes if the situation called for it. He sat back in his chair, snickering, hoping they wouldn't thieve him of his long robe. Then again, he always had a small undershirt on underneath. He wouldn't be completely left shirtless in the breeze. He turned to Jancis at her inquiry. "A-ah, no not really. I haven't really attempted to swim since L'aenoh attempted to drown me in the ocean." He laughed. It wasn't done maliciously, but L'aenoh did have that odd, rather sharp sense of humor about him.

"Upset?" he laughed lightly at the thought. "More hoping you knew how to swim if someone had tossed you into the ocean." Her description of the events certainly was amusing at the very least. Sigurd had never been one to turn cleaning into a training session, but it was more of a loathsome chore that needed to be done. Sweeping was terrible out near Highbridge. It was impossible to get the dust and dirt off the floor. It just kept blowing in the tradepost every time someone opened the door. He took one of the chairs, dropping his stack of books on his lap as he settled in. "I appreciate it," he said to Franz. "I really haven't gotten much time to spend with any of you. Research and trading, particularly here, tends to keep me pretty busy."

Sigurd happened to be in the area, finishing up some paperwork for trades in the area. He'd been drowning in paperwork ever since he got his license to trade in Limsa, drowning in tariffs, tax forms, and documentation. He needed a break. A trip to the Bismark was hardly unusual for him. It was one of few places in Limsa that cooked something other than fish. He heard a few familiar voices as he trudged up the walkway, several books tucked under his arm. Drawn in by the notion of spending time with something other than paperwork for the day, he pushed his glasses up his nose and approached the table. "Hey, hope I'm not interrupting---" well he interrupted himself when he saw how soaked Jancis was. "Bloody hells, did someone toss you into the ocean?"

This was so much fun! If there's another, I'm happy to help out. I heard quite a few people asking if there would be a sequel, so to speak.
