These threads are just.. bad for everyone. What everyone needs to realize is this game is less than a month old. Everyone, even RPers, is so focused on PLAYING the game. They need to progress to a point where they're comfortable slowing down and RPing more, so that sporadic RP is kind of hard to come by sometimes. It is out there. On Balmung, for sure, as I've seen it, and on Gilgamesh I'm sure it is too. Everyone's just very preoccupied with actually playing the game right now. Please, join an Intermission LS if you haven't already. Look over the RPLSs in the Linkshell section. There are at least three of the Intermission pearls now, due to the massive amount of RPers on Balmung. And there's tons of people that choose not to be in Intermission. We're all over, there's just a lot going on!

 for baby chocobo of adorableness.

Please note that this boy comes attached to a sometimes bitchy, blonde Miqo'te woman with similar eyes, who is stupidly protective of him. I mean what. RP with me too K'aworu!

As the note above says, Balmung has new and old characters, while Gilgamesh has lots of new ones. The old characters on Balmung are now vastly outnumbered by the new, so don't let the idea of 'Legacy' scare you off. I'd recommend just trying both if you are unsure.

Instead of cutting you off when it reaches a post limit, the game simply doesn't post long messages. Be aware of it, and break up your posts into smaller ones. That's all we can do for now.

That's fine, that's "IC" IRL. The problem is they find out OOCly, not ICly, that it won't work in the end, and then make their character suddenly not have feelings or what have you. That's metagaming. I don't like it.

Guilty as charged, but I feel like it is excusable when the heartbreak/drama would be more trouble than it's worth. To avoid it, I just generally check with the other player beforehand. If it's a no and I don't feel like it's worth it to have my character deal with a one-sided crush/the rejection that follows, I'll pass on having the romantic interest actually happen IC. And then they can be BFFs or rivals or enemies, and no harm done. I despise that. Hell, I don't even understand it. Heartbreak and drama are great things IC to encounter and overcome. They can be really great tools for character development. In my opinion, it is never worth metagaming to avoid something that should be played out IC.

When you decide be sure to post it on the event thingy in the sidebar!

I'm pretty sure that they've already stated that the vanity slots will have to gear that is equippable by the class/job you are on. As for mixing and matching.. I don't know. There's a line. If you're claiming to be an arcanist, but are strutting around in plate mail or AF from another job, then yea, there's something weird about that. But there's nothing wrong with wearing DoW 'casual clothes' even though you're a mage primarily, in my opinion.

I think my only problem with romantic RPers is the moment they learn OOCly that their character is going after someone that they don't have a chance of winning over in the end, they metagame their way away from her. There is more to RP than romance. A lot more.

Did it. In 1.0. Just make sure that your character has the Echo, or they'll be tempered.

Sio.. this sounds so cool. I wish my character was someone that could be involved, but she hates to spar! D: BEST OF LUCK!

What you have to remember is that the contradictions are going to happen for legitimate reasons. Seekers, for example, do not all live in tribes anymore. There are significant numbers that are off in Limsa, or being pirates, or whores, or dancers, etc. There are reasons for the different lifestyles, and those reasons are what we can latch onto to make awesome, unique, characters, while staying true to the Seeker lore, instead of making our own because we want to play catgirls. That is also quite true, but it doesn't make me any happier about it, eheh. Nor do I feel fully content that it wasn't just a tasteless(interpretive) attempt at fan service with no real reference to the way the majority of Seekers may choose to behave in Eorzea but all I am here for is to say that it was not something I was happy to see, even were it 100% intentional. Thus returns to my original point: why do people play them if they don't like what they are?

Here's the thing. This race is not ours. It is SE's. They can do what they want with it. The Miqo'tes are being represented how they SHOULD be represented. It's lore that many of them are like that. Seekers are whores, pirates, bar-wenches, fishers, dancers, adventurers, yellow-jackets, Maelstrom recruits, and sisters in the desert. That is what they are. Something I've been seeing a lot lately has been the 'modifying' of a races' lore to suit peoples' tastes rather than working WITH the lore to create an interesting character. If you don't like the race's lore, don't play it. Don't try to make it something else because you like how catgirls look and you don't like how SE made them. /endrant The point being made is that they are portrayed as whores here and there just for the sake of fan service when in actual fact the lore would imply otherwise if at all. The point I'm making is even if it is for "fan service" as well, it is part of lore in game. Therefore it makes no sense to say that the lore would imply otherwise.

If you run to the 'edge' of it on the map, you can see it continues out if I remember right. The tribe that actually lives there is very established at the oasis camp, but that's not to say that more don't live further out or something. It's probably quite large, we just don't have access to the whole thing (like most of Eorzea).

Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view
Aysun replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in Lore Discussion
There is a tia in the Waking Sands storage room, and a nunh, who also happens to be chieftain, of the only Seeker of the Sun tribe in the game which is located in the camp north of Sagolii in Thanalan. The tribal culture seems rare, for Seekers anyway. The fact that we went 2 years in 1.0 without hearing a damn thing about it supports that as well as the populations seen in game. I am perfectly fine with the little amount of lore they provided us when explaining why Miqo'tes have the names they have, but I absolutely abhor discussion threads like this so I'll be bowing out again. -
C'dhen Draws Awesomely* Fixed that for you. Good job, hope to see more from you!
