Sadly in the RP world, same as the world we live in now, the best way to "fit in" is to be common. The best way to stick out like a sore thumb? Be uncommon, elaborate. But remember, common does not mean boring. Work WITH the lore we're given. Use your chosen race's traits, use the cities we know and are familiar with, use the religious aspect of the game, have fun with those aspects, etc.. Your character can be interesting and unique without bending the lore, having ties with someone in the storyline, and such. Having a personality, with both faults and strengths stemming from a character's experiences (written history and RP), is the most important thing to me and something I enjoy most in other characters. You could have the coolest, best written, most involved backstory in the world, but if I RP with you and your character seems lifeless outside of when they're talking about their story, I don't want to RP with you. So then, what's the point of the backstory?

I'm exactly opposite Merri. Nothing irritates me more than seeing a black background on a website. It hurts my eyes to read and reminds me of websites that high schoolers make.

I think the second one is the way to go FOR SURE! It's time. We need the update. I suggest finding a nice color scheme and getting the font sorted out for now (looks like you've started doing that already). Then set in a 'filler' graphic for the header (the correct size) so that we can see where it goes when the color scheme is complete and then we can put together a proper logo/banner. If you'd like different smilies, I did create a blank moogle gif awhile back for SR's forums that can be made into a smilie set. I think purging some stuff would be a good idea, but at the same time will be a huge pain in the ass for you. I think the only way you could do it is actually go through and delete individual threads, while leaving others in tact. Purging anything beyond a certain date makes me nervous because there are some valuable old lore posts floating around still.

I haven't started yet if you want to mix us up a bit.

Extensive description and stuffs is over at the wiki for Aysun~ I guess my ONLY preference would be something other than a dancing picture. As awesome as those are, I has lots of them now. ^^ If you really want to though, go ahead. Whatever I get, I'll love. I'm super curious, but the element of surprise will make this fun too. Streaming is cool, buuuut... hngnng. Secret santa is secret!

She certainly did not miss it, however she was well aware of how abnormal the lack of rain was. It made her uncomfortable, she felt something was very wrong. What she really missed more than anything was the sun, however. It would get light in the daytime, but there was simply no warmth. She reached to take another bit of dodo at Eva's words, eating and looking up at the darkening sky with a sigh.. before abruptly looking to the new comer in the clearing. Her immediate response was a frown, despite his warm greeting. This was pretty much her reaction to anyone unfamiliar. She swallowed the bite of dodo, noticing the scent of fish this one brought with him. She did not return his greeting.

Yes, that's what most of us will probably have to do. Start in 1570. The only problem there is what I said before, that the event that gave adventurers the Echo apparently did not occur until 1572, whereas I've been playing for 2 years that it existed. Yay paradox. Basically: such is life. The date of the event or how long she's had it is not bound to come up in RP for me, so I won't worry about it. :3

It is! But it's so much easier to read and navigate. :3 I much prefer the wiki over just forum posts, myself! You've already spruced up your wiki more than mine has ever been, so kudos. Now the fun part.. writing content!
