The final cutscene. It's amazing.
-
The Black Shroud is the common name for it. The Twelveswood is what Gridanians/forest-born call it.
-
That looks sooooo good. It feels SO FF'y, if that makes sense. The music and everything. I think the ONLY thing that made me head tilt in confusion was that the character pivots in place when they turned the camera. Lil weird. SO MUCH AWESOME THOUGH

Where will you be? Saturday, November 10,10:00PM รข Sunday, November 11, 12:00AM (PST) Camp Brittlebark, Mor Dhona All able-bodied adventurers have been beckoned by the Eorzean Alliance to gather. What does this mean? OOCly: the game will be opened to all FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Account holders between Thursday, November 8, 2012, at midnight and Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the same hour (PST). You will be able to log in during this time regardless of your subscription status. Remember, character progress will NOT be saved and carried over to ARR. ICly: many whose characters may have been uninformed previously now have reason to be at the final event if their players wish them to be. Those of us who ICly have been planning to go now have official "notice" of where we're going and such, rather than pretending to have received orders or some such from our Grand Company! See below:

WHY HAVE YOU NOT POSTED THIS IN HEADLINES?!
-
Unless anything changes (like maybe they'll allow reactivation when they bring the servers back up for socialization after they go down on the 11th) you won't be able to rejoin until ARR is released. You can apply for the alpha at the moment if you want.. Sorry D:
-
Welcome back. Yea, they aren't allowing people to reactivate accounts on the 1.0 game anymore due to the end being near. People are in varying places ICly atm. Some of us are going with SE's time warp, so we will not be able to RP our characters from the 11th until ARR. Some are 'evacuating/hiding' or 'surviving' the event.. so they've got to come up with some stuff for 5 years of life between now and ARR.. but hey, at least they can RP!

I don't really see any drama in the comments here Sienna, if that's what you're talking about. People are expressing their disagreement with a few things in the article. Don't look too much into it. Who is Massively, anyway? I don't even know! I'm just gonna RP. -
Ul'dah Under Siege! With the final save of character data behind us, a slew of changes have been taking place in Eorzea. Those who logged on after maintenance were originally disappointed by the seemingly unchanged world, but after several hours changes began to occur. For those who haven't logged in yet, I highly suggest you do, and show off your screenshots! There has been a cloud layer removed from the sky. Dalamud is more intense (but not closer, yet). Stars and the moon could be seen through the clouds at night. Shortly after maintenance, several new camps in the Black Shroud, Thanalan, and Mor Dhona changed to 0 anima required and their aetherytes changed from blue to orange. A lightning storm began, and has been a constant weather effect ever since. Packs of Great Buffalo, Marlboros, Chimeras, and other notorious monsters only previously seen in dungeons or as a single mob were seen outside the Gate of Thal in Thanalan. Atomos-related mobs began spawning within Ul'dah Imperials began spawning within Ul'dah. Nael van Darnus (single or multiple of him!) began spawning in Ul'dah. A version of the themesong "Answers" is now playing in various regions of Eorzea. Golems called Number 126 have started spawning inside Ul'dah, though they do not stray far from the Bric-a-Brac/Adventurer's Guild area, they hit for 9999HP consistently. They are incredibly resistant to magic and physical attack. Letter from the Producer, XXXVIII In this letter, Yoshi-P expresses his thanks to all of us players for our encouragement and support over the last two years. The alpha is going well, with no major problems and they are receiving a lot of feedback. More testers will begin to get notifications soon, and they will announce on the Twitter when emails are being sent, so keep an eye out if you applied! Two screenshots from alpha were leaked: A LIVE letter from the producer is planned for 2:00AM PDT on November 11th, so get your questions in now! The Last Word Kipih Jakkya has written her last report as the war gets too close to home and Eorzea deteriorates. An excerpt: This post has lead many to believe that perhaps /pray may be utilized to progress further in our apocolyptic storyline. Follow the development and testing of this theory on the Lodestone official forums here if you are interested. Until next time!

Aysun Demiir, age 13 Description: Aysun was awkward at this age. She's petite as is, but as a thirteen year old, she was just skinny more than anything! She'd be starting to look more mature and developed, but certainly not acting like it, she'd probably be wearing some sort of smirk. Most notably different from her in game today would be her hair. It would be long, easily to her waist, but parted down the middle and braided (something like this but longer, and likely tied at the end with a ribbon), so it would only reach midback. Blonde as ever. Markings on her cheeks, blue/brown eyes, all per usual. Clothing would be pretty bland in style and color, a simple collared shirt (like in game, but.. without the insane amount of bra showing!) and kecks, simple shoes.

Awww~ Cool! I have to go to work, but I'll post when I get home. ^^

Well, hate to break it to you Almil but they have discontinued allowing people to reactivate accounts for the current version (about a month ago) and the cut scenes from 1.0 won't be in ARR (there will be new shiny ones!). I'm sorry. If you haven't checked the lodestone, Nov. 1 was the final save of 1.0 character data, which means any progress after that save will not be carried over to ARR. The servers for 1.0 were scheduled to come down on Nov 11th (though Yoshi-P has opted to have them come back up for social uses). /end thread hijack

Alright, so some crazy fun things are going on in game. For the next ten days, share your favorite, most awesome screenshots of the end of the world action here for us all to see!
-
Great to see you joined Uriah. I always wondered if you were a RPer or not, because I remember you from SR and some events! (Never even thought to just look at the wiki.. /cough) Welcome to the site at last!

Well, lore is just such a pain to get our hands on these days (SE holds it hostage). We're working on the wiki here, and I know there are a few threads created that have various lore (which I hope to get into the wiki): viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2602 viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2583 viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2769 One of my goals during this downtime of the game is to talk to every NPC I can in game and get information for our wiki (and I'm hoping others will help me!), so keep checking for updates!

In the newest Letter from the Producer XXXVII, Yoshi-P leaks some screenshots from the Alpha version of A Realm Reborn. Alpha testing officially begins on October 29th. So far, only those in the Japanese region have been sent their Alpha acceptance letters, but Yoshi-P reassures us that they will continue to send out emails and expand the regions as the Alpha phase progresses. If you're in the NA region, you can still apply to be an Alpha tester (which will involve mostly server stress tests) here! The Raven, the Gridanian tabloid that is available to all IC, has been updated. This issue touches on the premise behind the quest "Living on a Prayer" and offers a legitimate excuse for all us adventurers to enjoy the pilgrimage ICly. Additional nuggets from the developers on ARR: -Grand Company seals will transfer -The "build" option will not be available for female characters (but bust size is) -There will be a reputation system for free companies -Faction points will be reset! Get on those faction leves!

I think a lot of people use the "View unread posts" on the board index for that. Is that sort of what you're looking for?
-
To me it just seems like they want it to be fifteen years since Mor Dhona to now (Dalamud falling). Thus launch would have been 13 years. I'll probably just update my dates as such. Would be nice to get a concrete "this is the current year" out of them, but I don't think it will happen.
-
Upon loading the game, players will now see this official notice from SE. "Impact" will be on November 11th, at midnight (PST)! Enjoy the countdown!
-
Well. SE's done it again! The most recent post on the lodestone says "Fifteen years ago, in the Year 1557 of the Sixth Astral Era..." Should be seventeen years, considering two years have passed since launch. This brings about the question: what year was launch? What year is it now? I thought it'd been figured that launch was 1571, however from this description it would be 1572, making the current year 1574, even though SE is apparently ignoring the last two years. Anyway, I posted a question about it on the official forums.

Welcome! We para-RPers are a dying breed. You'll notice it's quite rare in XIV, mostly due to the fast pace of RP here. I've adapted quite well, but still enjoy when I can go into para-mode with people.
