OBJECTION! Your objection was not in all caps nor did it have an exclamation point!!! Any who to counter, this is why I suggested the role of the judge making a floor map (Now the police) and an autopsy case so the attorney's would have a scene that shows the exact end details.

Hmm. I suggest the rolling of dice for reactions to getting close to found out. Simply because it seems like a LOT of role players try to go for the stone faced bad ass trope. And one of the biggest signifiers and ways to get your case solved in Phoenix wright was to get a reaction from the bad guy whenever things definitely stopped going his way lol. The dice roll allows stone faced badassery. But does not completely hinder a case because there is always a chance they will show some reaction. As for keeping the judge in the dark. I see your point. However someone needs to create the crime scene and police report for the attorneys to go off of. So it would actually probably be better if there was a person playing the police that did not take part in the case, but was given the full information of what happened and created the autopsy and room map of what happened for the attorneys to utilize. Going off words alone isn't always enough. Without physical evidence Phoenix wright would have lost most of his cases.

How interested would people be in Phoneix Wright styled role play for handling a murder case their character may commit? There would need to be a Murderer, A witness, and a defendant. The murderer and the witness can be the same person as can the defendant and the murderer. The case would start with all those involved creating a detailed description of what happened from start to finish and sending it OOC to the judge. The Judge would then create a crime scene which would feature only the end result and give it to two attorneys. The Attorneys would be allowed to study it, ask questions, and take what they want for evidence from the crime scene to support their case. But they would not be allowed to know the full story except for how it is ICly described by the character they are defending. Then court would start and the Witness would give their testimony. It would then allow the opposing attorney to attempt to poke holes in the Witnesses story with the evidence they have gathered by pressing certain points in their testimony or objecting and presenting evidence for why a part of their testimony would not be true. You would slowly try to point out everywhere the witness is lying and eventually prove the defendant is not guilty and find out who is. The other attorney would of be out to prove the defendant guilty. I just thought it might be interesting

I made two Linkshells. One for Garlean Loyalists, and one for Garlean Defectors. Both OOC. But they can be used to help keep connected and make plots. (For example if someone says they need information on the loyalist side. They can ask OOC and iron it out IC in PM) sound daijobu? Just Message Xefjord Kiromeda if you want apart of either or both. Or you can message me on here with what char you want in.

Lol this thread has become toxic. Fun read though. The only tidbit I can add is I think sexually related activities oriented towards a character and towards a player are different. Regardless of what the law is. Although the law is there and should be respected for the safety of those vulnerable to it. I also do not feel like it is entirely the responsibility of the adult to dumb down their role play on FFXIV just because minors play it. FFXIV is a massively multiplayer MMORPG and if a minor or their parents can't handle the environment that creates with rules or not, they probably shouldn't be playing a MMORPG to begin with. But I mean I grew up on WoW's moonguard as a kid.

I recently finished watching the Anime Shiki and I loved it. I fell in love with the character Junior Doctor Ozaki as my character is a mad scientist/engineer. A recommended anime for those who enjoyed the anime Another For those who like Vampire anime. And those who like a morally grey anime where neither the protagonist or antagonist is strictly defined and everyone has a bit of evil in them.

Such uncomfortableness is merely a product of the society you were raised in. You must separate the accepted 'norm' from actual biology and learn some history. It wasn't until the mid 1800's in real life that people were suddenly considered "minors" under a specific age. That was when the conservative right lobbied for age of consent laws to try and cut down on human sex trafficking and forced marriages. Before then, you were almost a full adult by 14. That is when biology naturally takes over. That is when nature intended the human species to be mature. If a child is not emotionally developed enough to handle life by then, it is society's/the parent's fault, not nature. Not the Government. That being said, the government is still in charge here, sadly. And if they say such things are illegal, then you must contend with their backing of force. All I'm saying is that before you say "That makes me uncomfortable", take a look at WHY you feel that way and put it in perspective over the course of all of human history. If your view makes absolutely no biological sense, perhaps you should reconsider it. You would be correct. I would just add that in the times you mentioned, your average life expectancy was much lower than it is today due to lack of innovations in the medical field. I want to say you were considered "old" around your 40s to 50s if you managed to live to that ripe age. Some people would still consider that old. And There were still plenty of people who reached above that age as well. That was just average. I do agree with Coatleque doe

^ Yes to the above post. Limiting is bad. PM them and ask. That is the only real solution I can think of. It is a perfectly possible mistake to make in real life as well. You could be flirting with someone to learn that they are younger/older than they are. But people are going to act how people act. People will flirt, get drunk, and talk about their proclivities no matter their age IC or OOC. Most role players are at an age where they have been exposed to this IC and OOC anyway. How your character reacts to it is completely up to you though.

What If Your Character's Backstory Didn't Happen?
Enzo replied to Sounsyy's topic in Character Workshop
My character Xefjord Kiromeda borrows his back story from when I roleplayed with him on Gilgamesh. But with a few critical differences in his history. On Gilgamesh, his sister died when he was young as well as his mother. This ultimately is where the Balmung and Gilgamesh timelines split, as in the Balmung timeline his sister and mother are never assasinated and his younger sister shelters him and bears the responsibility of being the heir of the company so Xefjord does not have to. Xefjord ends up becoming very reclusive and poor at socialization when he has his sister to do everything for him. His timeline on Gilgamesh was overall more scarred, and tragic from the stress of his sisters death. His father goes crazy and has experiments done on Xefjord as a child to ensure that he will survive and can continue the company. And Xefjord is forced to become very charismatic and try to deal with being the heir to the company. But in the end for both timelines Xefjord attains a thirst for knowledge which can not be quenched so he steals information from Garlemald and runs. In the Gilgamesh timeline he is alone in Limsa. Constantly living under the stress of Garlemald trying to assassinate him. In the Balmung timeline he is adopted into a group who protects him. Although the stress took a greater toll on the more sheltered Xefjord of the Balmung timeline. So I am not really theorizing when it comes to alternate histories for my character. I have played two histories for him and it is very interesting to see how he differs and is similar to his old iteration on Gilgamesh :3 -
Any other takers?

At least on the Garlean front, there are many, many different ways to "qualify" as being a Garlean. And only the racially pure-blooded ones have issues with aether manipulation and the third eye. I personally do not accept fantasia potions as something that exist within my interpretation of the lore, but I do accept glamours because while they might be able to hide something, it is still always there. And with the rampant amount of IC racism that is supposed to exist, I would assume most Garleans would be doing something to hide any major distinguishing features away. Right. All you have to do is have lived in Garlemald/been born there to be a Garlean. That does not necessarily mean you have all their perks. Garlemald is a country and its people Garleans. While there is a specific race of Garleans you do not have to be that race to be good with technology. There is a lot more problems that come with Role playing a pure blooded garlean beyond what you can glamor. But Glamors ease the burden that Garleans have to bear because they are a race often absolutely hated by Eorzeans. If you were to walk around without trying to hide the fact you were a pure blood? You would be attacked, antagonized, and arrested. You simply would not be able to do ANYTHING. That is not a downside. That is you can not role play. I personally don't use glamors often. Opting to wear a mask because I am too lazy to write facial emotions. But my character is a full blooded garlean and if he is in a situation where he can't wear a mask he has to decline or wear a glamor of his face on his mask. It looks totally normal. But if you try to flick him on the forehead or something you would be able to tell. Glamors are not fools proof. The main drawback of my character as a Garlean is the fact he has this complex over all the other races and knows nothing of their culture. He can also be needlessly harsh. It is more of a personality thing. And it is perfectly possible to remove his glamor or catch him as a garlean if someone ripped off his mask. Just most people are not so bold as to do so.

Hello! I have already met your character and you definitely RP very well <3 I am always here to help if you need help with lore and am almost always up for RP.

My character Xefjord Kiromeda is one that used to be up there in engineering for the government in Garlemald. But he went crazy and stole a large amount of secret information and fled to Eorzea. Branding him a terrorist to the Garlean state. Someone Garlemald would very much want to recapture or at least keep tabs on. So this is a call for any characters to become a enemy towards mine and a spy for Garlemald. Even if your character is not evil. Arguments can be made that my character is ruthless and a danger to everyone in Eorzea as well. As if Xefjord was so willing to flee a comfortable life in Garlemald and commit acts of terrorism, whats to say he wouldn't do it in a land he has no attachment to? So I am asking anyone interested if they would like to fill the role of a Garlean spy or hired by Garlemald to be a spy. They would offer a very large amount of gil for information on Xefjord and the possibility of recapturing him and bringing him back to Garlemald. But he must not be killed at all costs as they need to find out where and what happened to the information he stole. But without killing, anything necessary can be done to capture/keep tabs on him. So would anyone be interested in this? There is any level of involvement you want to take from: Garlean Spy: A resident of Garlemald who traveled to Eorzea to spy on Eorzeans as one mission and to keep tabs and attempt to recapture Xefjord as a necessity. They don't have to do it quickly and could spend as much time as they want trying to blend in with Eorzeans, gain their trust, and use sly and clever manipulation to make them appear as the good guy and Xefjord as the bad. This would probably be the most involved. Hired Spy: would be the next level down. Trying to achomplish the same tasks as the Garlean spy only being a native of Eorzea who may be being bought with fortune and/or renown. They may not be as focused as the Garlean spy but they would still have a large goal of trying to spy on, antagonize, and possibly capture Xefjord and deliver him to the Garleans. Hired antagonist: would probably be the lowest level. They would be hired only to keep eyes on Xefjord and try to make his life difficult from the sidelines. They would never have to do anything as grand as try to capture him (Unless they really want to) But they are people who keep their eyes and ears on him when they see him and can go out of their way to cause him some trouble. We are not restricted to one of these, or even one of each. As many people can be hired by Garlemald to mess with Xefjord as they want. He is a dangerous terrorist in the eyes of Garlemald that needs to be stopped. If you are interested I will see how I can get you set up <3

Not with that attitude, bucko! OK, so I guess I should contribute. I do know PLENTY of women who always play men. My wife will very seldom play a female character. She just seems to get more emotionally invested in her male characters than her female ones. Couldn't say why, she just does. Oh Dogberry. You are like the epitome of manliness. What is your advice to those boys aspiring to be a man like you?

All of these girls and my characters still can't get dates *Sad Face*

Okay I seemed to have fixed it. Just in case anyone else has this problem. What I did was I renamed the sqpack in the Final Fantasy game files to old-sqpack. After trying to download the game again it made a new sqpack. Of which I tried downloading the patch again only to failure. So I then removed old-sqpack and left only the new sqpack in there. Tried again. Failed. I removed the new sqpack and put the old one back in renaming it to normal. Then it suddenly worked. I don't know why it works but it made it work.

Unable to update patch files. [11006][20866][19900][5] C:/Program Files (x86)/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/game/sqpack/ffxiv/000000.win32.index Is my error when I try to patch. It made it half way through the patch download then stopped. Now it is stuck in the middle and gives this error every time. It seems other people have had this problem but I have seen no where as to how I can fix it.

Enzo is somewhat a mix of a German and French I always imagined. Although he is rather flamboyant. Xefjord is somewhat a mix of Japanese, Scandinavian and stereotypical cocky nobility.

I very much like Gaspard's description. I don't really know what my characters would classify as though. One one hand you have a Miqo'te from Ishgard who grew up a pretty crumby life in poverty and trying to hide his identity to the point where while being extremely social he is also extremely detached from most of everyone. This has its own negative side effects when it comes to his own self created problems or feelings of loneliness and he has no one to turn to. In regards to combat he is "Alright". He is not weak. But he is not strong either. He is mostly learning. My other character is that which I think pushes some peoples boundaries. He is a Garlean from upper class Society who became a accomplished Engineer. But his thirst for knowledge led him to steal information from Garlemald and this put him in such a pressurized situation that he snapped. He is a extremely knowledgeable person when it comes to Magitek to the point where he will act like he knows almost everything. But his lofty attitude and background isolate him and he is commonly refered to as an asshole who does not know any better. He has a terrible time getting along with other characters outside of an engineering setting and his insanity makes him fearless, for both the better, and the worse. He has pretty much no fighting ability what so ever. But he does have tools that help him run away. And a gun blade which acts as good as point and shoot and to serve for intimidation. (Although that was taken away from him) From a technological standpoint he could be considered overpowered. As well as his knowledge of most things (Because of his good education in upper class Garlemald) but if OPness is decided only by fighting he would be pretty darn weak.

I could always use an assistant on my other character as well. My other character is a borderline insanse snobby engineer.

I am bored and having discovered my terrible art skills I will do that thing that bored people do where you post a picture, then other people have to vote on what happens. Whatever happens is totally up to you guys. Although we should try to keep it final fantasy 14 related. Would anyone be interested in this idea? If so feel free to join (I hope this is the right place for it ) Just fill in the blanks and I will do what gets the most support. You can also make a suggestion as to what the character should do if I ask for it. "We begin our quest in the world of letters I can not read and with a humble adventurer from the the region of _______. The world is in great peril and only our adventurer, the hero of ______ can save the world from the coming threats."
