1. Hello! I can help you out with your questions as I'm one of the players of the Ishgardian plot. 1. Ishgard seems to be made up of predominately Wildwood Elezen, not unlike Gridania, with Hyur coming in second. While they certain have pride in their country I suspect they like being Elezen too, well those that are Elezen anyway. 2. Elezen retain the French-influenced naming conventions regardless of which city-state they belong to. Really no name is TOO French when it comes to Elezen.
2. Haha yeah, I've went ahead and decided to try it out and made a Garlean named Aurelia Domna who will likely be a magitek engineer, being a PUG and ALC combo kinda like Rikku from FFX. Too bad all the Garlean stuff is lvl 50... although she will likely use the alchemists outfit so I will be leveling that over PUG >.>
3. Ah ok thank you. I was speaking with Ramsus the other day, he scared me while I was questing because I thought he was an NPC about to attack me, and we talked about your FC which rekindled an interest in making a Garlean of some sort, I have a few ideas, that was put out due to lack of overall interest. I've always wanted to try my hand at being an anti-villain since most people only see the pure villainous side of Garleans.
4. We currently have 10 RP members, it's a rank 4 FC. any other info you'd like? Ah thank you, I was more meaning as to current gender balances and if they are all not of the pure-blood Garlean or if some of them are.
5. What are the FC's current demographics?
6. Upon arriving at Fallgourd Float, Kiht and Byron asked the tavernkeep about his mother and it turned out she had been living in Hyrstmill which ws just outside of Gridania this whole time. Byron frowned in frustration, however it seemed another had been asking about her and this bothered Byron as much as Kiht. They quickly left and headed towards Hyrstmill. Kiht and Byron were almost halfway there when Kiht suddenly stopped. “Hold” She said to Byron in a quiet tone. “Byron! Take Cover!” She suddenly shouted, and jumped back. Before Byron could react a bolt of lighting shot out from the brush and struck Kiht in the leg, causing her to fall. The two assailants, a robed Lallafel and a female Miqo'te, of which clan Byron couldn't tell at this distance, seemed to be bickering which bought precious moments of action. Instead of drawing his halberd Byron turned and scooped up Kiht and mad e a low mad dash behind one of the many large trees by the path. He then sat her down and peeked around the tree. "Fury take those ambushers! However they don't look or behave like the Faces, however they could just as easily be hirelings." He looks back at Kiht, "Are you alright?" Hopefully the ambushers would continue to work inharmonious and offer and advantage. Having just a halberd against two ranged attackers made Byron too uncomfortable.
7. Byron had been minding his own business in Gridania when he was startled by Kiht's voice. “Byron, I found your mother!” Byron's heart began to thump in his chest. It had been some time now since he had heard anything and his extended stay in Gridania was making him more nervous by the day. "What?! Where is she?!" After being briefed on the details he blanched, after all this time he couldn't let his mother come to harm! Byron quickly donned his armor and threw his cloak over it, likely if fighting broke out he might need to discard it. Afterward he inspected his halberd and strapped it to his back and hid a dagger on his side under his cloak, Byron had some idea of what to expected based on his previous encounters with the Faces. Hopefully all of this could be concluded soon for Byron wished to return home... although his experiences thus far had given an unsettled feeling in his heart. “She was last seen at Fallgourd Float. We might have to protect her when we find her, be ready for battle.” Came Kiht's voice as she finished preparing. Byron hadn't brought much with him so he was good to go. He nodded grimly. "Then let us make haste, my mother needs us."
8. That's a cool idea. (Even though Gintama has made me think of a certain character from that show who was a former miko every time I hear the term. xP) I keep hoping the yukata from the 2012 Moonfire Faire reappear in some form. With the Domans' arrival, maybe we'll see them at the next one instead of the Cascadier swimsuits. One can hope. I haven't seen that anime, I sorta have some idea for a char but I may wait for the dagger class to come out since I'm kinda wanting to be someone's twin. Yeah re-releasing the yukatas would be awesome or make them tradeable on the market.
9. Ah I see. This is sort of what I assumed upon seeing many high-leveled and end-geared Asianish characters. Kiht told me that you were making a Doman so I hoped you would weigh in. In all likelihood the Domans escaped with just what they had on them so lots of Eastern clothing would be unlikely. Still I desire the look though... especially those Yukatas... True enough after a time the refugees would likely learn of Eorzea's martial ways but I still like the notion of being some Doman variant of a class. Yes! I was going for just that. I would love to be a Doman analogue for a Miko or something like that. Gear becomes an issue again although I've been getting clothes with the sets available.
10. As I am sure that many people have completed the current main storyline up to the defeat of Leviathan, you likely noticed Lady Yugiri and her ship full of refugees from a Far Eastern country named Doma. Up to this point we hadn't know much about the Far East aside from some item descriptions and the Heavensturn event so this sudden look into some of their people really caught my attention. I've been debating the idea of playing someone from the Far East, however with so little info and no easy way of them getting to Eorzea made the idea difficult. The Doman refugees suddenly allow for such characters being playable and legit and has resparked my interest. In terms of clothes we don't have much to go off of and very little obtainable gear has any Eastern feel to them aside from the Yukatas which are from a 1.0 event. The next part would be how to equate Eastern styles into our current available classes and jobs. Gladiator/Paladin: Standard rank and file soldiers with a shield, pretty basic. Paladin's are a no-go since they were invented in Ul'dah. Marauder/Warrior: Perhaps Barbarian of some sort since in many Asian cultures large bulky men or ogres often uses axes so you could factor that in. Pugilist/Monk: Any martial artist, self-explanatory. Thaumaturge/Black Mage: Possibly be a Sage or Channeler who divines with spirits and gains power from them. Or like a Warpriest. Conjurer/White Mage: Likely something like a priest or priestess who revere ancestors or similar spirits. Arcanist/Scholar/Summoner: Unless the magic practiced in the Southern Isles made its way to Doma, I doubt this class would be viable. Scholars are tied to Vylbrand. Summoners MIGHT work and you could be like an Evoker who calls forth spirits to do your bidding. The egi part wouldn't work since Primals no longer exist in the Far East. Archer/Bard: Archery is a common practice in many cultures, as is music. I could see both being fine as they are. Lancer/Dragoon: Pikemen are another common unit found in ancient armies to fight against mounted cavalry so that's good. Dragoons are pretty much exclusive to Ishgard. Thief/Ninja: Coming with patch 2.4 and will be easy adaptations to Doman players. I'm open to feedback and other people's insights and interests, just no fighting. I'm curious about who also likes the idea of making a Doman and would like to know about the ideas they wish to use in their characters.
11. Haha well thank you, I feel better then. I shall have to go and check those NPCs out on my own. I LOVE lore.
12. I see my conclusions were a bit off the mark... I apologize. I feel stupid.
13. Nym is the only known Fifth Astral Era civilization with no real modern equivalent aside from Limsa Lominsa which just happens to share territory. It would be very easy to be a "free Scholar" and your only real issue is finding a Soul of the Scholar to resonate with. Being able to read some Nymian would also likely be required. Now I'm going to venture into BLM and WHM territory and this is just what I've gathered.
14. Also as an added benefit you will likely become friends with my Miqo'te Merri Renalah.
15. This is correct. All the job spells you get as a Scholar, with perhaps exclusion of the last one, come from your faerie. By making a pact with the faeries it allowed the Scholars of Nym to act as a sort of proxy for the faerie's power which granted them healing and support magic. Each faerie is a unique individual with their own personality, memories, and name so if you were to get a faerie of your own via attunement with a Nymian soul crystal, she would most certainly have memory loss due to her 15,000 year dormancy just like Eos does in the Scholar job line and would need time and practice to restore her full abilities. Just to reiterate, without your faerie a Scholar has NONE of the job spells since the are "borrowed" from the faerie. Job quest spoiler below.
16. Welcome to the RPC! I have about 5 years of WoW under my belt as well haha. I recommend taking a good look around here and seeing if anything strikes your fancy.
17. Oh Y'shtola... please pick me! We can debate about ancient civilizations and magic all day.... I wonder how to say "I love you" in ancient Allagan...
18. Amazing, I'm going to have to side with Kat's offered info and Erik's agreement. Really with such a diverse population I don't see why there WOULDN'T be multiple languages and having the Echo gives of convenient way of being lazy and not programming in other heard languages. Oh the joys of mimicking a single-person game.
19. I have one of you! Someone tried to start trouble in the wrong town :cactuar: *cough* I'm totally not the guy in green...
20. In regards to rp combat I have used both the roll system and the trust system and both suck to be honest. I trust no one to be realistic and rolling disregards any skill your char may or may not have.
21. Q56: When will we be able to go to Ishgard? A56: You’ll see the story progress from patch 2.2 and see more in the later patches. Please stay tuned! Q52: Will we ever fight Nidhogg whose name was mentioned during the dragoon quest line? A52: Nidhogg is a dragon of Ishgard, so you’ll be able to fight him if you are able to go to Ishgard. ----------------------------------------------- Looks like we will be getting closer to Ishgard with 2.2, so stoked for the lore and ohhh dang, I want to kick Nighogg's ass when they open up Ishgard.
22. Hmm are you by chance going to do one of these for Keepers of the Moon as well?
23. This is really good despite it being inconclusive. I was curious about all this and I applaud your efforts. I was actually looking for Miqo'te in Ishgard the other day and found only one unnamed Keeper in Camp Dragonhead who I believe to be an adventurer.
24. I've always fancied the idea of playing a sort of anti-villain or something of the sort that would be like lawful-evil or neutral-evil. Someone with a goal and purpose that isn't just evil for evil's sake. Evil needs to be smart, cunning, and planning forward, otherwise it all just falls apart. Evil groups/societies are typically secretive: you don't find them, THEY find YOU. There are ears which listen in the darkest hours of the night and mouths which whisper promises of more to the desperate. In a space where there is no room, in a structure that was never built, meets the guild that doesn't exist.
