  1. The streets of Ul'dah were busy with the shuffling of travelers, merchants, and citizens. It was a normal day considering the past events. These past events, however, seemed to stir something in this middle-aged hyur. He stood in the Ruby Road Exchange, at the elevated balcony, back to the streets, the Quicksand to his left. He spoke up to passersby, reiterating past headlines. "Masked vigilante strikes! Kidnap victims found, one dead! Vigilantes run unchecked and authorties can't prevent a mass kidnapping? I call to you, citizens of Eorzea, to a public forum!" He continues this for a better part of a bell, gathering a few individuals and showing them headlines and discussing what he perceives to be a problem. Subjects of vigilantism and justice come up among the few. Paul Desmond was walking toward the Quicksand to satisfy that calling to drink rum when he heard the commotion and the repeated headlines. "I had better check on this..." he mutters.
  2. It's hard to narrow it down to one, because I have a whole playlist of pure instrumental theme songs for Paul, and his theme song changes based on his story. That being said, this is his current theme song and easily encompasses everything he has been through. wRvk_wpLDxs And for the sake of one that isn't anime/video game related: 8TWsexrVRA4
  3. Aiden & Paul being fierce: Aiden & Paul being cute:
  4. Balmung is definitely the place. If you join, make a thread on the RP Connections section. I did the same and have more RP than I know what to do with. I've been having a blast over the last few months with it.
  5. KIDNAP VICTIMS FOUND, ONE DEAD ~ B.H. Tyler No cries for help were heard. No hand was lifted for aid. Before the sun rose, when night reached its darkest point, dozens of young women and children went missing. Sources say that a criminal ring dealing in the trade of persons was involved. No sooner did this string of crimes get reported did the next detail also be revealed. All the victims were returned, safely. They came streaming back into the Golden City, one by one. All, that is, except one young female miqo’te. Her name has not been revealed as her parents are still being located. One victim was available for questions. She said that a man dressed in complete black from head to toe stormed the area (an abandoned mine in Thanalan) and completely killed their captors. Not one was left alive. It sounds like the city’s masked vigilante, Viper. But he wasn’t alone. An unidentified female was also with him, dressed in black, and wearing a mask. While citizens slept in the comfort of their homes, and while the Brass Blades and Flames did Twelve knows what, these two vigilantes- these two heroes answered these unheard pleas for help. While there is one death, the fate these victims faced was grim, but the fate the captors met was worse. The amount of captors dead was not given. Inspector Paul Desmond was seen after the bloodbath took place, investigating the scene. He confirmed it was the work of the Viper. He commented that it is not within the reach of citizens to commit acts of vigilantism and it is punishable by law. Who, though, gets punished when the law fails? Is it the innocent victims who suffer to the short reach of justice? Thankfully for the dozens who were taken, Viper and his accomplice were there to rescue them. Authorities are now asking citizens for information on the Viper and his female accomplice. One victim said she thought she saw a tail, but there is only one testimony. If they are seen, they are to be considered armed and highly dangerous. Local authorities should be contacted in such an event.
  6. Masked Vigilante Strikes! ~ B.H. Tyler In an age of adventurers and mercenaries it comes to no surprise when one takes the law into in his own hands. Cries for help in back alleys are often met with the answer from a capable soldier able to diffuse the situation. What happened in the past moon, however, is something far different. Local Blades in Ul'dah as well as authorities in the Flames office confirm that someone dressed in complete black and wearing a black face mask to conceal his identity committed an act of vigilantism. Dubbed as the Viper, he has executed a highlander known as Ragnarr Breaker right in the Gold Court. Sources confirm that Ragnarr is the one and the same man who was released on a mistrial because all witnesses vanished, one confirmed dead. Ragnarr Breaker was accused of two sexual assaults and one murder. All evidence has disappeared. An eyewitness claims that this Ragnarr Breaker wanted something from her, that she "would be the one tonight." Suddenly this masked person, the Viper, appeared behind Ragnarr and executed him, saying 'his sins are paid with his life.' Details around the execution confirm that the cause of death was a blade to the heart, with the entry wound on the victim's left side. Two punctures were seen on his face resembling the bite of a viper. Alchemists have confirmed that a venom was used to paralyze the victim. This is not an isolated scenario. Currently Inspector Paul Desmond is the lead investigator on the case. He was unavailable for any questions. An unnamed source close to the Viper case, however, has confirmed that there have been numerous acts like this across Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, and Ishgard. Is this the type of justice the city states need? What kind of message does it send to citizens, and are they safe from this brand of justice? Friend or foe, authorities are offering a substantial reward for any information on the Viper. Citizens have been asked to contact Inspector Desmond or their local authorities with any information that may lead to his arrest.
  7. Below is a link to a short story I wrote about my character, Paul Desmond. If we RP, it is okay to have knowledge of parts of this story you deem appropriate. It happened three and half years ago. The beginning events were published in many heralds, so it is easy to have heard of what happened. Thank you for looking and OOC comments are welcome! 8. In a tavern it's probably going to be the most welcome to walk-up, but even then if you just want some RP, I feel it's a little unnecessary. While I have Paul lounging and collecting information from what he overhears, I notice a lot of people just waiting alone for someone to walk-up. So rather than interrupt a conversation why not engage someone in RP who isn't? That's my feeling... As for outside the tavern, if you see a couple people RPing say at... Floating City of Nym, or they are occupying the only two seats in a quiet area, it's painfully obvious to me they want to be alone. Just because it's in a public channel doesn't mean we must engage. I often enjoy reading RP and if I only have an hour I'll just loiter OOC and be entertained by the RP. I've had people do the same to me and find it very rewarding, even receiving and giving feedback. Reasonableness comes into play. For example, if a character is injured and yours can render assistance, send a /tell and offer to jump in.
  9. This was a pretty fun event. I would go again to another event like this in the future. Thanks for the prize!
  10. Ooo, this looks fun! Can I do two? I'll do two... While in uniform, may not perform any disappearing magic tricks on a civilian. Even while undercover, rules still apply, including not sleeping with your commanding officer. In fact, don't sleep with any one who is enlisted.
  11. My character Paul Desmond is a bit of a wandering soul himself. He could easily meet your character anywhere. Char wiki is tinyurl.com/desmond28 If you want to meet up in game or even RP on skype shoot me a PM here! =)
  12. TB my friend! I still want to RP with you. Let's make it happen! It sounds like we have a lot of common interests as far as the type of RP.
  13. Hey there! I've seen you around and have been meaning to have Paul approach. Now that I have broken him in maybe he will!
  14. 1) Inspector Desmond on the job. "Excuse me, have you seen this person?" Holds up a sketch of [description here]. 2) Why is the rum always gone? If Paul's drinking, he's talking. And he drinks a lot of rum... 3) Magic tricks Paul is an expert illusionist and will sometimes use one of his many tricks as a conversation starter. 4) Eavesdropping Paul has a trained ear and as part of his work will loiter at taverns to collect information. If he overhears something he thinks he can help with, he'll enter the conversation. 5) Deflect sorrow Paul's had a lot go wrong. When it gets him down, he drinks and looks for someone to talk to in order to get his mind off his life.
  15. Hello there! Feel to search out Paul. He's in a bit of a dark place, but hides it and still manages to be social. In fact, he spent his entire life at sea and hides that very well, having been forced to completely change his speech patterns, accent, and behavior (aside from drinking rum, however!). 16. Hello there! In an effort to make some new RP friends I thought I would post here. Some brief information about Paul: He's easy going and can hold a conversation with almost any one. He loves his rum and can barely resist throwing in a flirtatious comment here and there. He's an inspector for the Grand Companies, so if your character keeps up with current events, his name may sound familiar. Currently he is investigating a masked vigilante known as Viper. Because of the nature of Paul's work, he can be anywhere to meet! As for me I enjoy dramatic, romantic, and story-driven RP (and a good laugh as well). I'm Paul Desmond in game or if you are in the Hugs & Cakes LS I can be reached there. I also RP via skype, so PM if you would like to do that as well! (Paul's partial story on RPC wiki: tinyurl.com/desmond28) Thanks for looking!
