SIGN ME UP VERAD SENPAI Edit: Forgot to say. I will bring Luri unless we have too many magic types - then I will bring Tiergan instead.
-
What time is the event? (Other than date. :V)
-
Resigning up for Doctor Bloom with Lurial now that it's at a new shiny time! o/
-
I am a complete derp and forgot about a prior engagement I have on Saturday. :C I have to withdraw from Doctor Bloom. I look forward to future events though. The last one I was at was a ton of fun.

If your very last MSQ question was Dressed to Deceive (level 19 MSQ quest) then you haven't gone far enough in the MSQ. You have to have completed Sylph Management (Level 20 quest) before you can unlock Jobs.

Lurial Vashir for Doctor Bloom!
-
Welcome back! o/

Is it too short notice for me to sign up with Tiergan for Monday? Though, I might be 15 minutes late as I get off work at 5PM PST and it can take me an hour (or more if I'm unlucky with catching the bus) to get home. If that's not acceptable, I'm okay with sitting out.

Maybe your Raen has heard of [insert Tribe You Like Best Here] and wishes they were more like them despite being a part of the tribe that accepts Raen. It means if you run into another player from that tribe, it might make for an interesting dynamic.

Sorry that I missed this! I wouldn't worry too much about it - you can just let folks know OOC that not all of the abilities you whip out during the dungeon are IC. Additionally, sometimes the IC dungeons are unsync'd romps through lowbie dungeons where you can afford to have your character not use all of his abilities because the other folks will probably gleefully be blowing everything away. Quick update: My health is unfortunately taking a dive again. I'm taking a break for roughly a week. This means Dungeon Dives are on hold (unless one of the volunteer GMs grabs you!) and will resume once I'm all better again. Sorry for the wait!

Warrior of Light, Hydaelyn's Chosen, and Bringer of Light

Thanks Kage! I saw that this morning when you posted it on Tumblr. I guess all my characters are going to perpetually remain the same age for a while.

Welcome back! Glad you were able to find the RP community and hopefully get your writing groove on. If you can, don't forget to make a wiki page for all of us that like to stalk read people's wiki pages! o/

One of the worst things you can do to me is copy paste me a tidbit of dramatic RP and then not tell me the rest of what happen after. Or tell me you have some big juicy secret about your character that you will be RPing soon and then ask: "Do you want me to spoil it or do you want to know now?" I will either cave in an hour and demand spoilers immediately or I will live in torment of not knowing for days. That said, I totally do the same thing to my friends all the time on purpose, because I am a terrible human being.

1) I am a cruel god and enjoy putting my characters (and other people's characters if they like the same thing) through horrible, horrible things. ADVERSITY BUILDS CHARACTER. 2) Romance RP only interests me when it has a really awesome conflict (either the lovers are against each other or have to work together to endure some kind of trial or fight for some sort of goal) and would make for an interesting story. Otherwise I get bored as shit and have no interest. 3) I give the characters I spend the most time on (mains) the most complicated backgrounds and personalities. Alts get much simpler backgrounds and personalities that are easy for me to get into. This is because building up the RP for the complex characters takes a bigger time investment where as the alts are characters I just want to dive into and have fun with in bursts. Unfortunately this means I have a ton of really awesome character ideas I want to run with, that I can't, because the time-investment is too high for an alt.

Tiergan is followed a lot by a fat cat that he pretends not to like, but feeds when no one is looking. He kept calling it "cat" "it" "blob" so one day Flickering Ember named it "Pillow" and that's been its name ever since. Tiergan also once found himself being followed around by a tiny coblyn larva trying to eat little crumbs of ore. When he finally noticed it was weakening and all but starving to death, he gave it a big old chunk of ore to eat and it now trails after him on every single mining expedition he goes on. He also just calls the coblyn "it" "Coblyn" and will probably keep doing that until someone names it for him. ... That is adorable. :V

1) I am a fiend for conflict, angst, and feels in RP and delight when someone else is as much of a trashbaby shitlord nerd as I am about it. 2) Unless someone's RPing something that goes way out of my comfort zone ("My name is Naruto! I am an shinobi that is also the reincanation of Rhalgr himself in cat boy form!") - I adjust how I approach Lore and Suspension of Disbelief on the fly depending on who I am RPing with. (I.E: WHMs and people who don't think you can be WHMs, people capable of anime-style feats of strength and people who take a more 'gritty-realism' approach to combat) I try to keep my characters in a mold where I can RP with either group at any time. 3) My first RP character was in AOL Chatrooms and it was a very, very small chocobo that was about the size of a Pomeranian.

As one of those "gritty" fighters who has (on multiple occasions) been subjected to Crouching Tiger physics, I can say first hand that compromises are necessary to make the experience not awkward for both parties. Sounsyy's entire character concept is designed to be a rather grounded person in most aspects. This includes fighting. She's weak aetherically, she gets fatigued, she can't jump to save her life - let alone do acrobatics. She's not a gymnast. But I recognize this isn't a concept that everyone will adopt. In the setting, there are extraordinary figures and there are the Red Shirt guys, often in the same cutscene. Roleplayers fall into many places on this spectrum. Eventually (if you're doing tournament style fighting like Grindstone) you're going to come across someone who's physics settings are wildly outside your own. The only thing I know to do in that situation is to discuss it with your partner if it's so left field from what you're willing to expose your character to. (I might expect to be flung 20 yalms if Sounsyy was struck by Leviathan's tail or something, not by a Midlander's right hook.) If the attack is more vague on what exactly its intention is, I don't see the problem in warping the effects to something more middle-ground. For instance, I (personally) find it hard to believe a Highlander could do a front flip onto Sounsyy's sword and land there anime style. More improbable is that Sounsyy... could hold that. So, if they win the roll, they will land on Sounsyy's blade... and Sounsyy will drop them. ^^^^^^ Pretty much my thoughts on the matter. Or if the two fight styles are completely irreconcilable (I'm more in the gritty-realism camp and other guy is Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Meets Goku and Naruto's secret love child) - I just find excuses for Tiergan never to fight them or just outright admit that I don't think our RP styles are compatible for fighting. Server's big enough for me to find folks I do enjoy combat RP with after all.

Thanks for the heads up! I actually just started poking the DMs yesterday with my spreedsheet of doom, so I'll send all of that info to you today.
-
If you're level 15 and have cracked open at least the level 15 dungeons, feel free to sign up! Also - anyone who found out about these through here - please poke me so I know who you are so I can give you a poke when the dungeons are organized! o/
-
So I herped the derp and completely forgot to ask everyone the most important question to all of this, which is "What is the best/easiest way to reach you outside the game?" I learned the hard way that trying to hunt people down in game to speak with them is a recipe for suffering, so I'm sticking with methods that are a bit more reliable. I figure the people who found out about this through the RPC probably would be up for me contacting them through PMs, so if you signed up, feel free to poke me with a PM (and your character name!) so I can edit my ginormous spreadsheet of doom with your answer. If you know a friend who also signed up, please tell them to give me a poke as well.
-
Are you kidding, that just intensifies people's determination to throw him a birthday party in an attempt to un-grumpify him. :V
-
Also - just waiting a bit longer to see if more people fill it out before preparing to organize things o/ (Double thanks to the people who volunteered to help DM!)
-
Feel free to just stick all of the characters you'd like to participate in there. Even though it might make your answers super long, it's perfectly alright.

When I tried to kick off my Red Lotus Plot - I noticed that some people were joining in because they were struggling to find RP and hoped the plot might help them get some. I feel bad that it completely failed in that regard (because I am dumb and bit off more than I could chew), and was kicking around an idea in my head of arranging 4-man IC Dungeon Parties for people. The groups would be randomized in that you don't really know who you'll end up with until you show up, but I'll be trying to match you all up with folks who have similar tastes or backstories. I would be the DM/GM and create a simple, but interesting story that draws the group together and gives them a reason to interact as they plunge into a dungeon to achieve a specific goal. The dungeons would provide a nice setting/environment to play around in as opposed to literally being the location they are supposed to be. ONE CAVEAT THOUGH - like I mentioned in regards to Red Lotus, I have a bad habit of biting off more than I can chew and taking on ideas that realistically require way more people to manage. If it starts feeling like this idea is the same, I’ll have to nix it. If you’re interested in this, please fill out this form. <———- Conversely, if you would love to VOLUNTEER to be a GM/DM who creates a story for 4 (or three if you want to be involved in the group) of your fellow roleplayers who are aching for some RP connections, fill out this form right here to volunteer yourself as tribute a GM. EDIT: I also realised we can also set up 8-man parties if it fits the story that is devised if we include places like the castrums.
