If anyone sees harassing someone to the point of being blacklisted or blocked on some website/game as "winning", they are at a level of pathetic that I can't comprehend. That's harsh, broseph. I mean, I'd try to explain the circumstances surrounding my involvement in that sort of thing, but it's my experience that first impressions are usually permanent so... eh, it's not the first time somebody's held the opinion that I was pathetic. So I guess we'll just roll with that.

I've literally never blacklisted anyone in any game. Fact is, blacklisting a gil spammer is pointless because those characters get deleted within a few hours. As for players, my responses range between not caring enough to blacklist someone, and not blacklisting them because I can't let them win. And believe me, as someone who's been on the other side of it a time or two, I can assure you that when you blacklist someone who you feel is harassing you, they will always view it as an admission of defeat. I suppose I'm just far too prideful to use it.

No joke, I saw a Miqo'te npc in House Fortemps yesterday. They may not be welcoming to outsiders, but it seems that Ishgard does not discriminate too much on race.

Ha! Maybe not around here, but tons of people listen to hip hop, so it shouldn't be too hard to find people who share your interests. If you want to have absolutely 0 friends, you could tell everyone you only listen to power metal. It's metal with operatic vocals, so even most metal fans hate it!

So... your character's future and Jobs to come.
Marisa replied to Erik Mynhier's topic in RP Discussion
Sadly, I don't know that there's a 'right class' for me in the FF universe. Hopefully Yoshida & Friends will take a lot of creative freedom with future classes, but I could also see them strictly adhering to existing FF classes/jobs. What makes it hard for me is that FF, for the most part, sticks to very traditional JRPG roles. If you're strictly a healer, FF limits you mostly to cloth-wearing, stick-wielding priest type. I'm much more fond of the sorts of classes you find in Warhammer fantasy. Fewer in number, but much more diverse. This is an interesting healer. This one even more so. I want to be right up on the front lines with my comrades, trading blows with the enemy and pushing my allies to fight harder. So in the very unlikely event that square ever implements a heavy combat medic job, I'll switch over in a heartbeat, and I will absolutely create a character entirely centered around it. -
Thanks for the responses, guys! Hijacking my own thread a little bit, but on the subject of Ishgardians: How would their healing magic work? Do they even have healers? They seem like they would, being a very religious people, but afaik XIV limits white magic to just the padjals, and I doubt the Ishgardians are really into conjury. I really like the idea of an Ishgardian combat medic, though.I wonder if there's any grounds for that?

I'm in the process of trying to learn everything there is to know about Ishgard, so do correct me if I'm wrong about anything here. Now, from my browsing of this forum, I've gathered that it's often frowned upon for players to claim to be one of the combat jobs in character. I completely get this for things like White Mage, but what about Dragoons? Not even 5 lines into the Ishgard page on the FF wiki, it says that their military has a ton of dragoons. Not 'azure dragoons', but dragoons nonetheless. If you were roleplaying as an Ishgardian, wouldn't it follow that one could quite feasibly be a Dragoon? I haven't gotten very far into the Gladiator story yet, but wouldn't this also be true for Ul'dah and Paladins?

Oh gosh, I much prefer roleplaying with 'normals' than I do with superheroes. Pretty much all of my rp characters are always either rank-and-file soldiers, or a train-wreck of a person (Barrett Stormsong's life consists of drinking, gambling, fencing, and fiddling, and he's mediocre at all four). I'll hold no ill-will against you if you roleplay a superhero, but I'm more interested in the lives and stories of those faceless soldiers who barely get any screen-time.

Please! How can they claim to show the worst fight-scene ever and then not have it be this? XJ-ATwRq5KY

If everything goes the way I planned by some miracle, as Ryoko matures I'd like her to become an influential part of a Lominsan ultra-nationalist movement. She's the last person who would ever do something out of malice, but the greatest evils do tend to be born from good intentions.

I was a bit concerned when I saw that you were making a fan-race, but I honestly can't find a thing wrong with it. I think it's a great idea! Although, by your naming conventions, shouldn't your character be Neneru Raji'neru? Looks like on page one you said you'd named him Neneru Raji. Also, I love that they've evolved to be smaller than normal lalafells. Mostly because, given how natural selection usually works, this means that all the bigger moutain folk died off because they all got stuck at some point

How do people view the fighting on the Carteneau Flats?
Marisa replied to LiveVoltage's topic in RP Discussion
I've been grinding out a couple pvp ranks these last few days and I gotta say, at this point I would enjoy nothing more than to kill some Gridanians while nobody's looking... They realize they suck too much to ever win, so instead they focus on screwing over Limsa so Ul'dah can win -
Pls halp, I drink things without finding out what they are and now I am cat girl Ryoko has, in a dark and forgotten past, been an actual midlander (as opposed to her current status as a pretend-midlander). However, I would never be inclined to include that as part of her history. On the other hand, I am completely open to anyone RPing a race change, so long as they don't pass it off as something common. I have a lalafell friend who claims he used to be a Roe and doesn't know what happened. That guy's a riot.

I'm imagining the starship troopers excerise when someone gets their head blown up *nod* One of my all-time favorite movies. "MEDIC!!!" Uh... you realize his head got blown off, right? -
How do people view the fighting on the Carteneau Flats?
Marisa replied to LiveVoltage's topic in RP Discussion
It's definitely just war games, although I do wish we could get some more serious conflict going. All of this peace and cooperation makes for a really dull story. -
Granted I'm only like 4 feet tall myself, but I've noticed that with most buildings, you could easily fit 2-3 floors in the space they use for one. This is especially ridiculous in homes inhabited by lalafells. I get that it makes camera positioning easier, but it feels like they went a little overboard...

I've almost entirely stopped using my mount. Pretty much just hop everywhere now. Although I've still yet to come up with any good explanation for Ryoko's constant jumping past "she's weird"...

Customize a limit break only YOUR character could do
Marisa replied to Pumpkinweed's topic in RP Discussion
Ryoko's limit break would be grabbing nearby lalafells and throwing them at the enemy. Higher ranks would throw fatter lalafells, and in greater quantities. -
Ryoko often suspects that certain animals can talk but are hiding it from her. She also speaks like she's constantly excited about everything!!!

I can't promise every month but I could certainly help out this month! I have a friend who can help too.

Well the problem OP is probably having is that the voice previews don't give that great of an idea of what some of the sounds will be. For example, my Miqo'te used to have a horrifying laugh that was most certainly not showcased beforehand...

Ryoko (me!) - The healer. Ryoko doesn't really try to push the party in any particular direction. She's just happy to have friends who are brave and go on adventures! She does keep an eye out for 'treasure' at all times, though. Setzer Gabbiani (FFVI) - Aside from his constant role of bringing sexy back, Setzer is the group's utility/damage dealer. He is the de facto leader of the group, who act as crew aboard his airship, the Blackjack. His primary motivator is searching for wealth and competition, which is what drew Ryoko to him in the first place. For him, she is an easy source of an ego boost, as he can always dazzle her with even the simplest of card tricks. Gilder (Skies of Arcadia) - The physical damage dealer. Surviving the wreckage of the Claudia, Gilder found himself without an airship and in dire need of money. As an experienced air pirate, he was soon approached by Setzer to pilot the Blackjack. With no better prospects in sight, Gilder jumped at the opportunity. Ever the lecher, Gilder made no reservations in expressing his interest toward Ryoko, despite her young age. But then, for Gilder, propositioning a young lady was like saying hello. Nina of Windia (Breath of Fire II) - The black-winged angel and exiled princess of Windia, Nina acts as the group's mage and secondary healer. With the potential to flatten cities, but too timid to wield such power, Nina's true strength only comes out in the most dire of circumstances. However, her unbreakable will allows her to keep flinging spells long after the rest of the part has hit the floor. She convinced Setzer to bring her on the journey so that she might search new lands for a way to break the curse on her sister. She's constantly fending off advances from Gilder, of course. She loves Ryoko's company, as it reminds her of the innocence that she lost long ago. Rinpu (Breath of Fire II) - The tank. Rinpu tagged along with Nina for the adventure because, hey, how often do you get to ride an airship? She was pretty fond of Ryoko right off the bat, with the two being surprisingly similar (and now I'm wondering if I subconsciously based Ryoko on Rinpu...) Of course, like the other girls, Rinpu found herself frequently the subject of Gilder's attention. However, she was a bit quicker to turn to violence than the other two... But who can blame the guy when she never wears pants? I wanted to get Sazh (ff13) in here, but he has the same combat style as Gilder so I had to exclude him for the sake of party composition. I also spent a lot of time trying to put someone from Baiten Kaitos in here, but I realized that while I absolutely love the game, I didn't really care for any of the playable characters... I did originally have Carth Onasi from KOTOR, but he seemed out of place. Anyway, that's my list.

Exactly this. Anything cosmetic in this game comes at a heavy price.
