It's funny that people are weirded out by neck elongation but are okay with.. Scales Horns Tails Furry ears No eyebrows Oh well. Proud elf guy, here. To go off of this.... They're also okay with little children looking adults having sex with each other... BUT IT'S OKAY 'CAUSE THEY ARE POTATOES

I have two Elezen males... there are...5 or 6 in my FC? Something like that. And I love the fact that they are all kinda asshats. Aymeric, Haurchefant, and Estinien (#1 douchebag) are 3 of my 4 favorite characters in the game. Two of them are super awesome but man...I donno. They're easy to RP. Tons of lore to go off of.... Everyone else's issue with them is their problem >>

Oh, no! Someone on the last page sent me a compliment, I was just belated in relaying my thanks. I wasn't talking about you, Ashe. dkfjgn Sorry. Your homework is to come up with a nickname that isn't related to Ashe being tsuntsun .__________.

Asyun? Is that my nickname now?? .____.

Yes we are! Feel free to contact any one of our officers in-game for more info/an IC interview/RP test. We don't have a super formal application process but the IC interview lets us know what your character is like and gives you an idea if you'd like to join us or not. ...We're only like....68.5% crazy after all xPP haha But yeah, we're always recruiting and love new people!

It's more like undying loyalty. They aren't mercenaries. I never said anything about a master in my OP, that was your point. My point was around openly declaring yourself a ninja, or rather not doing this. I don't care if people have a master or not, or even a soul crystal or not. For me it just seems to spoil the mystique if there is no mystery. Though I tend to see the classes as stereotypical archetypes and in RP we are free to blend in our own story and take on that. Though I accept some take the full rigidity of the game, I see it more as a loose framework that creates a common setting. To each their own. I just go off the lore that was presented to me in the 3 times I leveled ninja >>

^ That is what I'm implying. Just as long as it's somewhere that is what will make you a Doman ninja. Sheesh. Ah and Akatsuki is the Scions >> Sorry...still play in Japanese >>

There's a chance you may get bored/frustrated with it but go for it. Maybe establish a few gestures that mean really specific things or have a specific way of community such as through art/drawing or write things in a journal and show people. There's probably multiple ways to do this...maybe come up with something completely different like communicating through aether or something completely out of the box. Make sure it's just as fun/interesting for you as you need it to be stay interested in it.

My point with that is that somewhere in your backstory/current status that should be mentioned. You don't have to RP with said master all the time. But that's kind of like...the main point of them and what sets them apart from a regular spy/assassin. Someone had better tell Yugiri that, then. Either that she's not really a ninja or that she needs to call home more. You can easily leave this stuff in the background because it doesn't have to ever, ever come up in open roleplay. She does have a master...she works for the Akatsuki. And...I RP'd a ninja and didn't leave it in the background and it still worked. I just got bored of being an IC ninja and got rid of her (that Kasumi in my signature). You can feasibly do it.

That makes no sense... Ninja don't operate on their own. So you can't just be a ninja, walking around without a master. That would make you a rogue... Sure you can have a master, even be part of an organisation. But also maybe your master is dead? Then you find a new master. Ninja are all about serving others without the utmost loyalty. That's kind of their thing. Maybe for you but there is scope to play them differently. The point is should they walk around saying "I am ninja"? No, the point is not for them to say "I am a ninja." The point is that to BE a ninja, you have to fall into a certain category of master-retainer relationship as well as possess the soul crystal that all ninjas have--not just the WoL (some jobs don't explicitly mention this but for Ninjas, Karasu gives up his soul crystal and renounces his status as a ninja). There's a difference between being a Doman ninja and being an assassin/spy/thief/rogue/guy with two daggers who throws knives. Sorry I don't even understand half of what you're saying though...

What I meant is that by definition, being a secret sneaky person who doesn't serve a master as a retainer might as well make you a rogue...or a random sneaky spy/thief/assassin at that point. Because by definition, Ninjas are a specific job related to Doma where they serve masters as shinobi with undying loyalty. The title of ninja is VERY specific. I've played through the job quests 3 times...I know what's up >> Unless they don't, because unless you can tell someone the whims of every possible master in RP it's perfectly possible to come up with any reason you want as to why you're doing whatever you're doing in roleplay. Perhaps they were sent on a fact-finding mission after years of loyalty? Perhaps they are simply told to take a break in Eorzea until they are needed again. Maybe they're masquerading as a ninja and just conveniently only converse with their master over linkshell when no one's around. You could pull a Karasu and give up your soul stone...you'd have the knowledge of what it is to be a ninja from your own experiences, but I don't think you could perform the same feats as a real ninja. This guy said he wanted to be a Doman ninja, not someone pretending to be one >> Though, the lore kind of makes it seem like most of the Shinobi aren't even wanted in Doma anymore because lawlz guess who betrayed Doma for the Garleans >> So....you could masquerade as one...but you wouldn't be a Doman ninja >>

I've leveled 3 ninjas so....let's see. Is there anything specific about Ninjas you need to know? The job is one of the jobs where the soul crystal comes into play ICly. Ninjas serve a master as a retainer...so maybe try finding someone to work for? There seems to be a hierarchy within the ninjas as well as princesses of certain clans... 1-50 and 50-60 ninja jobs have ninjas coming to Eorzea looking for something or someone. 1-50 is hunting down Karasu and 50-60 is finding this annoying princess's clan treasures that were stollen. With most Domans, from 50-60, it's kind of apparent that many people don't trust the shinobi because it was a Shinobi who betrayed Doma for the Garleans and ultimately caused everything to be super messed up... Also, feel free to have your ninja be kind of quirky. In most mediums, ninjas are presented as super serious. But in FFXIV most of them are kinda really...amusing? They have their quirks and lively personalities. Oboro, for example, is really serious but is kind of socially awkward and Tsubame is kinda helping him out a bit. If you have any specific questions though, please ask!

Do you support legacy terminology? ('-ra' '-ga' spells)
Ashe replied to Empath's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I could probably count on my genitals how many people here first played the FF games in the original Japanese. I'm just saying that "legacy" in this case doesn't mean anything besides "version I liked best / saw first / is how they do it in other languages," none of which have any bearing on the game as a game. SE is trying to draw as many players as they can regardless of familiarity with the game series, and "Fira / Firaga / Firara / Firaja" doesn't denote any sort of hierarchy in terms of power or usefulness to someone who hasn't already seen them in other games. Fire 1 2 3 4 is fairly straightforward, even if the AoE versions are a bit strange. If the game used more attack spells I could see them doing the XI version of both suffix and numeral-level for the combat system in XIV is incredibly anti-that. It's weird, but it was weird in XI, too, and it was weird in other games too. But that's the thing. Fire I, II, III, and IV do not denote their usefulness either. Fire 1 is the primary spell you should be using, whereas fire II is strictly an AoE and a poor choice for single target, Fire III should be used exclusively for refreshing astral fire stacks, and IV should be used to juggle Enochian. They already don't make any sense in the slightest, nor are any of them particularly more "powerful" than other options. Each spell has a use, and the numerical system doesn't identify that just as much as the legacy terminology. It's like what you're supposed to do when you play children's card games. You read the cards when you play those, right? Read what the skills do! Seriously, it's not that hard. I cannot tell if you are supporting my point or attempting to invalidate it. Both? It's hard to tell. I haven't had coffee yet. -

Every other game prior to 8 called Thunder spells "Bolt" until you get to the remakes. So... the legacy for people who played the originals ignore ra-ga-ja. I guess if you're going by Japanese play it is? For those of us who played english versions, even FF7 had SpellNumerals. -ra, -ga, -ja for us were added in for other titles when they were remade / remastered. Personally I don't mind the system as is. When I dabbled in some spell RP it was never "cast named spell". Even now, it's not a concern for me if I were to in the future. I mean it's not like I am going to 'cast Flash' in roleplay either. I could probably count on my genitals how many people here first played the FF games in the original Japanese. Yeah, if we're talking actual game mechanics, if you don't understand what Fire 1-4 are and you're a level 60 BLM....you probably shouldn't be a BLM anymore >> -

Uuuuuuh, depends >> ICly, no. ICly I wouldn't name spells if Ashe was to cast any. I would describe what they are doing and the person I'm fighting with can use their common sense to infer what I am doing. Like.... /emote channels aether and casts a large circle of fire around his target the flames immolating both the target and those around him/her/it. .... That's Fire II >> OOCly, no. IF I'm helping someone play, I"ll say the names of the spells that are displayed on the screen. -
I stopped watching anime... But I work on manga for a living...so. I read a lot of manga. Like all day every day. Except Saturday and Sunday...that's my vacation from manga unless I want to get ahead on weekly chapters xPP

In most situations a soul stone is mentioned, it's usually from someone who died... DRK guy is dead. Ninja who gives you the soul stone--he's dead. Black Mage person is...dead? I think? I don't remember. I donno about Bard, Dragoon is weird as hell (but passed down from Azure Dragoons from the first, dead, Azure Dragoon)...Monk I have no clue. SCH is probably dead? Not sure. SMN are definitely dead. uuuuh...hmmmm...no idea about PLD or WAR and WHM or AST...MCH I don't remember. But most cases, it probably came from some dead guy...

Weird confession but... Sometimes I intentionally avoid certain RP situations because I when I RP on Ashe sometimes I make him too confrontational. I don't want to accidentally flip that switch in him so I avoid certain situations, especially in my own FC, altogether >.< Then I'm afraid people think I'm ignoring their RP or something for some higher purpose but in reality, I'm just trying not to be an ass >.<
