  1. I get worried about how my IC decisions OOCly affect other people... Like sometimes Ashe does weird things or gets into weird situation and I'm always scared to OOCly piss someone else off because of it. I'm also scared to plot things with new people 'cause I'm worried if the idea is stupid...also scared to plot things with people I know...I'm afraid that I'm too....overbearing about ideas even when I try to step back from IC situations I get worried then that people think I am ignoring their characters. Another insecurity would be that my insecurities to people I don't usually RP with come off as stand-offish in OOC or people think I am intentionally slighting them when it's really just me being unsure how to proceed or trying to be general in communication when my character is surrounded by 10 other people >.<
  2. [Warning: slightly gross and a little graphic ‘cause vomiting and the nature of the attack.] The cave was dark and cold. Water dripped down from somewhere, though in the darkness and with his already poor eyesight, Asheloux couldn’t tell where it was coming from. In fact, with the large steel helmet that was forced over his head to prevent him from cracking his own skull open against the rocks, he couldn’t see much of anything. Every so often, through the shivering, he flexed his hands to keep the blood flowing as best he could, but with his hands chained above his head for so long, it wasn’t doing him much good. He had done just about everything to remove the linkpearl that was forced into his ear. It wasn’t one of his own. He was forced to hear the communication of every one of Marielle’s spies as they stalked his friends and planned to do the unthinkable to one of them. He had started crying awhile ago and despite the lack of food or water, he had managed to keep crying despite the dehydration. Marielle was obviously barely keeping him alive and it was obvious through her actions alone how much she would like to see him dead, but Asheloux even knew how much she needed him. ‘Take off your eyepatch and you will die,’ Damien had read the contract he was forced to sign. He kept silently wondered how Marielle would kill him when she realized he was no good under those conditions. The damage to his eye from his own experiments was what allowed him to do his work so efficiently. He went from hundreds of accidents to only a handful since acquiring the curse. While the eye slowly leaked his own aether until he would be no more, he could visualize every connection, every port, every necessary flow of aether to make the engineering process all that much smoother. He didn’t want to do anything for Marielle and he wouldn’t be able to. For the moment, only he knew that. ‘Am I just stalling for myself?’ he silently pondered in his already confused state, ‘The more this goes on, the more pain he will feel pain too…’ he shakes his head. ‘She was bluffing though…right? she would never do that to his—‘ Asheloux’s thoughts were cut off by the sounds of the linkshell. “The door is opening,” a female voice called out over it and Asheloux immediately lifted his head. Seconds later, the painful shouts of an all too familiar voice could be heard followed by another man’s voice. It was Synn and Soren! “His shoulder his hit.” Just as Marielle had ordered. “Proceeding to next target,” A male’s voice said and Asheloux’s face went white. “Don’t do it! Stop them!” He shouts inside the cave cell, his voice echoing off the walls and back at himself to no avail. He tries to pull himself away from the wall he was chained to. “I’m begging, you stop!” There was a loud scream over the linkpearl and Asheloux could tell from the sound of it what had transpired. He found himself heaving again and soon vomiting on the already soiled clothes Marielle had swapped with his own clothes. His head hung low as he sat in his own tears and vomit, still crying. “The bag has been—what?!” The man’s voice was soon cut off by a sound that Asheloux recognized. It was the sound of Synn’s dark arts slicing through the wind and into bone and flesh. “Pick up the link pearl, you idiot…” he mutters, still heaving with nothing else to empty from his stomach, “Be a good boy…and cut off her communications…” he whispered, trying to sound like his usual self but the words just seemed to come from someone else. ‘Maybe I should…just…bite…’ He soon passed out from weakness and shock, unable to finish the thought. He would submit to her when she returned.
  3. From what I heard this morning by someone already grinding, the drop rate from FATEs is considerably higher than the original Atma grind was. 6 were obtained in the span of an hour. I would say no, it's not worth finishing Zeta just to skip. Mmkay o7 Thanks for letting me know <3
  4. Hit or miss. It depends how far in your zeta you are (as there's atma farming in this, too). It's a lot of RNGesus. So one way or another you need to pray to your lord and savior. . . . . .And even then he'll probably hate you. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I didn't do the atma farming.... I had 130 augmented and then final coil weapons later...so I didn't see the point hrmmmmmmmmm Argh I donno. Well, I leave the country for two weeks tomorrow and won't be able to deal with this anyways...so fuck me I guess haha
  5. Out of curiosity... Would it be easier to finish a zeta weapon than farm those crystals at this point?
  6. Asheloux lay perfectly still on his bed. His knees were pulled slightly up as he lay on his side facing the wall closest to him. The pile of books surrounding his bed had gotten increasingly higher. It wasn’t because he had been reading more as of late, rather, it was to keep those around him out. He would rarely be seen out of the house, let alone his room. He had confronted one of the final suspects only a day or so earlier and she had proven to be just as straight forward as he had imagined. On the stand next toy his bed was a stack of papers criss crossed on top of each other. The bottom stack contained the written agreement from Marielle. He hadn’t had time to read it but held on to it in case he could stomach thinking about it. The top one was both new and old orders from Ishgard. He flips on his side to look at the stand before turning back over, “The one time I follow the rules, it turns out to also be the wrong answer,” he muttered bitterly as he finally decides to sit up, “Maybe I am always meant to fail….” He pondered out loud as he pushed over a handful of books to make way for himself to move. He grabbed the papers off the nightstand as he hovered over to his desk. He lay them out in front of him to study them. The one on the right was as follows: Ser Asheloux Haton By order of the Lord Commander, you are to appear at the Airship Landing in Ishgard on Twelfth Sun of the Sixth Umbral Moon. Your company is to depart for Azys Lla at the fourth cycle of the element of ice. You are to depart with your company alongside Dragoon escort to complete your objectives as outlined in the attached documents. All findings must be reported back to the Lord Commander. Lord Aymeric’s signature and crest marked the bottom of the page in a large flourish. The remainder of the pages outlined what had been discussed in previous meetings. The second pile’s documents were the same, said for change. Another name was listed ‘Dragoon escort’—Marielle of Ul’Dah. He didn’t know her family name to have it added to the documents, so he thought that would suffice. He stared at the papers blankly. ‘Well, I tried to avoid this…’ He thought to himself, ‘I wonder why she refused…If I were in her position I would’ve taken it…’ He stood up from his desk, pacing anxiously around the books that were scatted over the floor, ‘And why…why did she try to trick Soren? It doesn’t make sense…If she got his hands on him, the deal would’ve been off. So why…’ He stopped in his tracks as a knock came at the door. He slowly paced over to it, opening it slightly to see who was there. He relaxed when it was just a young Hyuran scout. Most likely an Ala Mihgan refugee from the look of him. “You called for a messenger?” the boy asked and Asheloux hurried over to his desk, “Wait a moment,” he called back, picking up the new orders and rolling them tightly. He tied it off and secured the paper with his seal in wax before rushing back to the messenger and shoving the scroll at the boy. “It’s to go to the Miner’s guild. Ask for Marielle…if you see a wretched Duskwight woman with gaudy clothes and hair down to here,” he motioned a random length with his hands, “That’s most likely her,” He shooed the boy with his hand, “Now go.” He placed a handful of gil in the boy’s hand and slammed the door in his face before heading back to his bed to stare at the wall. “And now, to wait…” he mumbled closing his eyes, “I need to stop worrying about this…”
  7. Except caves are characteristics of Duskwight culture, not Wildwood. They'd have to be able to see in the dark, which wildwood cannot. But, as I said, that's another debate not related to this thread.
  8. Yeah. If RP is your main focus, Balmung has groups RPing just about everywhere. This includes both in cities and out and about in the open world.
  9. How many licks does it take to get the center of SE's convoluted lore of racial traits and offspring science? The world may never know... Some Ishgardians do have the Duskwight model...and Dzemael Darkhold is a cave...which may make them Duskwights >> BUT WE DON'T KNOW. That's like...a whole other debate. The RP I used this thread's idea for already happened so it doesn't even matter anymore haha.
  10. Yes! Breeders do uuh...what's the word.... Taking sperm from one breed and putting it in another one. Artificial insemination? something like that... All the time. How do you the the Husky/Pomp mix exists?
  11. ^ Which is interesting 'cause most of the Ishgardian Elezen all have longer ears.
  12. While I'm all for science, I really don't think it can easily be applied here. One tiny tribe in Africa versus the other 6 billion people on earth don't make your example really compelling either... Look at Dogs. Dogs have the same set of genes yet some can be 100lbs and some can be 5lbs. Their genes are all the same. (This I am 100% sure of so don't argue with me on this one...Dog Breeds are not the same as species. The breeds are human controlled through selective breeding to bring out the most "desirable" traits for certain breeds). I think the split in the races is more like Dog breeds than separate species.
  13. I'm thinking in terms of the fact that lizards in our world don't talk and have a political ruling system...but in Eorzea there are non-humanoid dragons whose traits can be awakened through their blood to the Ishgardian Elezens who willingly consume it because their ancestors ate the eye of a dragon. ..... That isn't science.
  14. Elezen grew up in the same environment...The Shroud...so it's not like they had much variation to begin with. Hyur--both Midlander and Highlander started in Ala Mihgo and Midlanders can also be Doman but they don't look different than the ones in Eorzea. Lalafell are both in Ul'dah...their lifestyles are different (don't know much about them...never had to). Au Ra are both from Othard and their lifestyle and faith is mostly all that is different. Miqo'te and Roe may be the only two that had super varying environments. I don't think that the science really applies here... As for infertility...that's a good question. We may never know haha. In a world where there is more than one basic appearance for intelligent beings (The PC races and beastmen...DRAGONS...even clones because there are intelligent NPCs who WERE clones)...Darwin Evolution is a really difficult comparison because there are a large number of "species" per say that would have "human intelligence" and don't look humanoid.
  15. This isn't the same. This is more like a black man trying to pass for an Asian man and vice versa. I wouldn't say that... The real physical difference for them is their eye shape and Duskwight faces are slightly thinner. The skin tones for both races are varied but Duskwight tend to be darker and Wildwood tend to be lighter BUT we've seen Wildwood who are as dark as Duskwight. It wouldn't be impossible for it to be the other way around. For that comparison to be true, they'd have to have evolved in completely different environments but both clans grew up in what is relatively the same environment in the Shroud. Eye shape. Skin tone. Duskwight evolved traits having to do with their environment. So far, it seems like the difference between two IRL human races. Actually, if you look at it more closely, the difference between Seeker/Keeper, Wildwood/Duskwight, Midlander/Highlander, Lohengarde/Sea Wolf, Raen/Xaela, and Plainsfolk/Dunesfolk is species. Lalafell are all the same up to or Genus. So Plainsfolk and Dunesfolk separate at Species of Lalafell. If you consider Dunesfolk, the defining characteristic of their species is the presence of a layer over the eyes that protects their ocular organs from intense light and gives them that large, glassy look. Plainsfolk cannot simply decide to become Dunesfolk, and there will be dominant and recessive genes in interspecies Lalafell. Step back, and Lalafell and Miqote branch away from one another at Family. Yes and no. I don't think Darwin evolution really applies to this game...at all. If you look at the species of animals, monsters, and insects around... If it did, the bees in Ul'dah would look different than the ones in Limsa...and they don't. My understanding was that they were the same race but their traits were reflected differently due to the environment they grew up in. Like how all dogs have the same general genome but the their genes are reflected differently. By your theory, if a wildwood and duskwight had a child, the recessive lighter skin trait from the duskwight could be present in a wildwood... Or a mutation could have occurred. IRL human races are starting to become more blurred as well as time goes by and people stop being stupid about interracial relationships and just accept everyone as humans. Some children don't look like their parents. My mom is southern italian and has medium beige skin tone while mine is super fair. My little sister has gold-brown hair while mine is black. I have my dad's curly jewish hair while my little sister has my mom's wavy, straight hair. When you have a more varied gene pool, these sorts of things occur. Then again, I am willing to suspend disbelief for one short scenario involving one other person (and I guess every other Duskwight on the server who has lighter skin?) and not apply Earth science to a game where we're not even sure where half the races came from. Ah, we do know that that the Elezen were there first. And that they all started in the Shroud TOGETHER as nomads. Regardless of Duskwight and Wildwood, they were all once the same. Ah...and by your explanation...Someone from say...South Africa and another from South Korea are different species. P.S. I work in publishing...I'm not a science person but I did pay attention once in awhile >>

  17. My alt, Zeph, is rogue's guild! Not a criminal, just actual rogue's guild. I'm not sure about groups or anything as my character works with an FC tied to the maelstrom with a house in the goblet... But I do have a rogue in the rogue's guild who would love some rogue's guild buddies.
  18. Monthly bump! Azys Lla changed to 12/12-13 Events may be extended.
  19. I'll definitely check yall out. Been looking everywhere for none merc centric or primarily good aligned FCs. Will also bother you for an RP thing sometime if the FC deal doesn't work out for some reason. I wouldn't call us "good." We are more chaotic neutral. But we're good people!!! With our own weird way of doing things We do a lot of IC adventuring for research and artifacts and what not. We'll be starting Azys Lla trip next weekend.
  20. JOIN MYTHRIL WINGS!!!!!!!!! Our FC is run by researchers/scientists/historians/nutjobs/nice people >> http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=11667 That or I can throw Ashe in your face >>
  21. Well, I wouldn't call Haurchefant gay...I guess bi if you played a male character but either way he would sound like he's sexually harassing your character regardless of their gender. In 2.3 I nearly died laughing at how crazy he was...but I can see the confusion? I am bisexual and female, mostly into females. I will agree that it is more tiresome. I wouldn't call Haurchefant's behavior gay/straight/bi..whatever inbetween. It had nothing to do with his sexuality. If you played a female character, it would be a man sexually harassing a woman... In either case, if you don't understand this character type...he would be pretty darn creepy. ADAPTATION INTO ENGLISH IS HARD GUYS. SERIOUSLY IT IS. It's my job...and sometimes you just gotta do things.
  22. In Japanese he would suggest he wanted you in his bed chamber and talk about how he likes the muscular bodies of adventurers. He was not a stereotypical dandy in the slightest. He was a loveable douchebag nut case >> It wasn't really censorship as much as in english it really came off as someone you're not supposed to like. At all. Unless you understand that character type...which the general english-speaking audience wouldn't.
  23. Yeah, my idea was thinking about how to sneak my character into Gridania to meet with one person and then leave. Nothing long term. Thanks for the feedback/answers
  24. Kinda just looking for a straight answer, but... With the character creation, it's possible to have dark skinned/blueish Wildwood and light skinned Duskwights and we've seen some dark skinned Wildwood in the Holy See. The biggest difference I've noticed in terms of physical differences is the eye shape. So! The question now becomes: Could a Wildwood try to pass themselves (brief disguises for spying, not like a lifestyle choice, etc) as a Duskwight...and the other way around. This could be by covering their eyes, etc.
